On a cold night we were downtown and were about to head home. We were hungry and walked by Lemon Grass. We decided to do an online pick up order and my sister in law ordered a few different options such as the scallion pancake, dumplings and another seafood dish. When we went into the restaurant to pick up our meal the staff were kind and the atmosphere was more on the higher end side. It was like an oasis. The food was excellent and the scallion pancakes were my favorite. We look forward to trying more! read more

I had the opportunity to have a wonderful dinner last night. The artwork throughout the restaurant and bar is beautiful and a delight to experience. Our server Aaron was absolutely delightful. He had full command of the menu offering the best of what you have to offer. He was attentive and has a hospitable spirit. The Bangkok beef had incredible flavor though was very tough. Not was I was expecting. The special Kao Soy was fantastic with the combination of lobster, chicken and a scallop. The shrimp dumplings were great with the toppings of sautéed garlic. The steaky bacon was wonderfully flavored with the sweet buns as an accompaniment. Why I rated this Lemon Grass low was the management. My guest and I whitenesses a few interactions with the staff of him swearing and being overly critical. The fact that I could hear and see this was truly awful. He has white hair glasses and walked through the restaurant with hands in pockets. Unfortunately unprofessional and a poor representation of a restaurant of this caliber. Shame on you. I like the ambiance and space. Very roomie in the back section. This was my second time with different friends. The food deserves and ambience deserve four stars. The kitchen and wait staff need more training on how to manage food service. On both occasions we order appetizers and main courses and on both occasions the food was delivered simultaneously. As our waitress delivered our appetizers and moved to attend another table, along came another person delivering our main course. They immediately asked if we wanted to bag our appetizers. Not only is the service and space amazing, the music is so relaxing and inviting, but the food is to die for. I have wanted to go here since I moved to Syracuse back in 2016, and since moving to their new space I was even more excited. We came here for our anniversary in October and the experience couldn't have been more enjoyable. The server was so helpful, informative and always there when we needed them. We had curry and steak and both dishes were amazing and unforgettable. Not to mention the signature dessert the Stilleto, which was just, for lack of a better word, an EXPERIENCE. Oh.M.Gee. This place has it figured out. The food was so so good. I was not drinking alcohol on this night, but the spicy mango mocktail was so yum! Skip the app, you won't need it the portions are huge. They have some adorable outdoor seating unfortunately the outdoor area was full when we arrived. We did sit in the main dining room which is also very charming. The decor is hand selected with a beautiful theme overall. This place is gorgeous and creates a wonderful atmosphere. I got the Grilled Eggplant, Chicken Pad Thai, and their Lost Slipper dessert. The Grilled Eggplant was good, I especially enjoyed that sauce that came with it! The Chicken Pad Thai was good as well, however for the price it didn't have enough flavor and the noodles weren't all cooked thoroughly. The real standout was the dessert. I ran into him on my way in and he recommended the filet mignon with a side of lobster and a dish of melted butter for dipping. I also ordered 1/4 of an order of fries. I had a shrimp cocktail to start and the most delectable dessert I've ever had. The service was impeccable. What an outstanding evening we had at this recommended restaurant. Walked in without a reservation- 5 of us for dinner at 6:30. Michael our server was most professional and accommodating steering us through the specials of the day as well as answered several questions about the menu for those of us less versed on the finer points of Thai cuisine. We started with fresh oysters of the day, shrimp pillows, and spring rolls. All were served attractively and had great flavor. Entrees across the table were so plentiful and delicious. From the daily pot with fresh herbs, shrimp and glass noodles to the Himalayan Mango shrimp to the soft shell crab with noodles and seafood with spicy noodles and peppers. Portions were plentiful and enough for lunch the following day. The evening wasn't complete without trying two desserts and 10 spoons. Each presentation was a work of art - where tastes intermixed with textures to produce a great conclusion to a wonderful evening. The cocktail and wine menus were quite extensive as well. This is going to be a longer than normal review because I drove from Boston to Binghamton and next day decided to go to Syracuse overnight just to go to Lemongrass Grass my  "old" favorite restaurant - rated prior by me a 5.0. Well going from 5.0 to 2.0 is a big deal change. So let's start at the beginning. The restaurant moved to a different location, that's ok I guess, ya gotta do what you need to do. The new location is not quite as nice (in my humble opinion)  but it will appeal to a younger crowd, nice long bar - generally a good bar area.  I was dressed to the 10's along with my friends. So they try and seat us in the bar high tops,  ( I'm 70 +) I said simply NO. She moved us to a table in the bar section, and not knowing the layout otherwise I said sure. I'm easy.  Later I saw a more serious section in the back, a real dinning area. But the seater, a young gal, showed poor common sense to the look and sat us in the bar. Bad move -0..0 for that.  Now the restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday night. That said, with 10 free tables next to us, she prepped a table right next to us for a group of 6... Why... Stagger it. ... .. there was 9 free tables available in the row. The clientele has also seems lower to me, and I am no , no snob, dispite this next sentence. One table from us a guy in a baseball cap. It's a pet peeve for sure, but wearing a baseball cap in an upscale restaurant is rude. Hated that. If I owned the placed I'd say, no shorts , no caps.  So my overall experience was a 1.0 as to ambience. Saddens me.. to the person who seated us, and others ...a zero. Ok to the meal , that what Yelp is about. So ordered a Simi cab . Limited cab selections unless you want to spend 190.00  so 1.0 for Red Cabs selections. Dinner, started with spring rolls. The " old" spring rolls came with nice big leaf lettuce, you could wrap the spring rolls in it if desired. This came with a sad wilted lettuce pieces. The spring rolls itself hot to the oily touch but like warm to cold inside, how does that happen? Spring rolls 1.9 We got Gra Pow mild. The long and short of it, it was a 2.0 vs old 4.5.  Unhappy we left without seeing if their old classical desserts. were the same.  Sadly,NOT returning ever. read more

This was a real treat to have dinner here. The service was excellent and extremely professional. The ambiance is beautiful. The food was excellent from the appetizer which was a lobster dip with rice chips to dinner with steaks and dessert of a strawberry cake with real strawberries. The only downfall is the price. Be prepared to pay for the excellent service and very good and distinctive taste. 2 people, where we had two drinks apiece and split a dessert. $220 before the tip. It was a treat since it is a unique place but I don't think it's a place I could go to more than a couple times a year. read more

Since it was his last night home, before going back to school, my son requested Thai food for dinner. Lemongrass is always the first place that comes to mind for the best local Thai and as always, they did not disappoint (except for one thing, which I will mention later). We had 6:00 pm reservations for a party of 8 and even though the restaurant was busy, we were promptly seated. Our water glass were quickly filled and we were greeted by our waitress. Service was attentive all evening and our water glasses were always kept full. After getting settled we gave her our drink order and looked over our menus. The one "bad" thing is that Lemongrass does not have a pad thai chef regularly, so it is only offered as a special some nights, and this was not one of those nights. (I was craving pad thai). We ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine all which were well made and served promptly. Our four appetizers were enough to share before our meals arrived and all of them were very tasty( the steaky bacon was my favorite). A simple salad with peanut dressing was fresh, delicious and enough to share. Entrees ordered were: roasted duck, green curry, filet with massaman, red curry, scallops with sweet tamarind, and filet with sautéed mushrooms. Every entry was served with a side of white rice and everybody throughly enjoyed their meals. Lemongrass always had great desserts and tonight was no exception. Lovely dining experience recently at Lemon Grass. Service was good, food was delicious, prices are high but it is considered a "fine-dining" location, so that's to be expected somewhat. Great spot for a special occasion, date night, bringing people from out of town here, etc. The curry I got was absolutely delicious and I'd get it again. The oysters were super fresh and we loved the mignonette they served with it, with the crispy shallots on top. Only giving it 4 starts instead of 5 because it got very loud in there, and that tends to ruin a dining experience for me. If your a foodie this place is for you! It's a Tai restaurant but they have something for everyone. The restaurant is huge and very classy. The service was amazing! The waiter knew his stuff and they were very attentive. Lastly the food......THE FOOD! This food was absolutely delicious! I had the scallop ceviche and it was so fresh and a burst of flavors. I also tried the brussel sprouts and they were the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. My husband loved his steak as well. It is VERY pricy but this was a special occasion. First time in Syracuse and I got several recommendations to try Lemon Grass out. My colleague and I stopped by despite the bad weather and were greeted by our pleasant waitress Jenna. She took our drink orders & then told us about the specials. I immediately jumped at the lobster tail special which came with noodles, lobster, scallop & a slice of chicken and a type of sauce (the name escapes me now). Our food came out so quickly and Jenna being super accommodating suggested I get some rice to really fill up my meal in the absence of the chicken which I appreciated so much and it indeed make my meal much more filling. Overall, the food was good, not as spicy as I thought and the sauce was quite heavy in taste for me but nonetheless, I enjoyed it. I took the rest to go bc it was a large portion and then I got dessert. Warm chocolate cake is what I decided upon and though it wasn't sweet, I didn't mind it. We celebrated my husband's birthday here over the weekend. I made a reservation on opentable and included a note that this was a birthday celebration and I would like to have my husband acknowledged in some way. Our meal was fantastic! The appetizers, entrees, drinks and dessert were all delicious! The tables were socially distanced and masks were worn by all the staff-we felt comfortable and safe during our entire dining experience. Went to Lemon Grass for a date night with my husband and we were very disappointed. We did not look at the menu prior to entering, so we were unaware that it was mainly seafood, my husband does not eat seafood so we were very limited on what to order, I felt that the seafood was very expensive as they do market price for majority of the seafood listed. The place is very fancy so makes sense for pricing however, not the place for a quick date night and time away from the kids! It's a very busy place, we both ordered their only minced chicken over rice option and it was good but not worth $32.00 they gave us practically a whole bowl of ground chicken and a very small cup of rice, the amount of chicken given and little to no sides as they were an extra charge, the more vegetables and sides added made the meal worth over $40, so you are basically paying for the restaurant name and popularity, not the food quality. Went to Lemon Grass tonight for their downtown dining week deal. First let me say that everything was spread out nicely, everyone was wearing masks, and practicing proper covid safety. For the 1st course I got the shrimp dumplings. It was presented beautifully and tasted even better. Tender dumplings with a shrimp filling in a sauce that has just a bit of spice that taps the back of your throat. They were delicious. D had the spring rolls and enjoyed every last bite. Well except the bite I stole. They were crispy and packed with a flavorful filling. The second course was a salad. I chose the peanut dressing. A bed of mixed greens topped with the most amazing peanut dressing I've ever had. My 3rd course was Chicken Prig Pow. Just wow! I would say the heat level was a high medium which was almost a little too much for me. But the flavor was just so incredible that I wasn't going to stop eating it. This dish packed a punch on flavor and heat and I will definitely order it again! I even have left overs that I will enjoy tomorrow. D got the Tamarind Duck. He polished off his plate and loved it. Again, I stole 1 bite. The skin was super crispy and the duck was very tender. The orange flavor was represented well without being too much. While the food and atmosphere are reason enough to go to Lemon Grass, the service is above and beyond. There are many people around that are on top of drink refills and anything else you need. The transition through courses was seamless. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and specials, professional but friendly, and made our evening out wonderful. read more

This place is just fantastic in every measurable respect. I visited for dinner with a colleague. The service was flawless (thank you, Angela)! The atmosphere was very nice. The prices were quite high for Thai food generally, but absolutely perfect given the quality of the meal and experience. That takes me to the food. It was easily the best Thai I've ever eaten. I had the beef short rib panang curry. The portion was extremely generous and presentation quite lovely. The sauce was glorious. Nice and spicy but not overwhelmingly so. And sweet but not too sweet. I guess the right description would be "beautifully balanced." The short rib was not too fatty, but was fork tender and not at all dry. The rice was perfectly cooked. I do recommend asking about a dish before ordering. Because I asked, I knew my dish did not come with vegetables, so we got a side of steamed bok choy. They were perfect. I also had the Bangkok cocktail, a lychee martini, which was boozy, refreshing and not too sweet. If I could convince them to move to my home town in Ohio, I would steal this restaurant for myself -- sorry, Syracuse! read more

The rest of the dish was nice (which included a single scallop, chicken, egg noodles - pan fried on top and soft/boiled in mild curry sauce). Food highlights were the vegetable dumplings and the beef salad appetizers. Good flavors...but again....extremely overpriced. I've been to Thailand. Dumplings, noodle and curry dishes don't cost $30. I know...it's trying to be an upscale steakhouse-y situation...but this place fell short for me. The best part of the night was the young man that was filling up water glasses.
