Looking for a late lunch on the way home from Sandusky and I see a Lemmy's with a cartoon monster on the outside and a promise of Lake Erie perch so I had to give them a try. Inside is a casual little restaurant, nothing fancy or trendy, just a local place with a small menu centered around fried perch or walleye. I ordered the perch sandwich with fries. After about 10 minutes I get a toasted bun with 4 perch fillets a cup of house made tarter sauce and a pile of french fries. The perch was the highlight of the dish, lightly battered and expertly fried so the fish was moist, not at all greasy. The fries were ok, but nothing special. Lemmy's seems like a great place to grab a quick meal of fresh lake fish, the kind of stop that you go just for the fish. read more

Came in for lunch on a Saturday in early March. Ordered the perch sandwich with fries to go. They were very quick in getting the food out and friendly at the same time . The perch was outstanding, the fries were well done given what they had to work with. They are fresh cut fries, very nicely prepared, but much larger than I would prefer. Almost like steak fries. As a result, they weren't very crispy. Should have gone with the cold slaw. The dining Room is very nicely done. There were a couple of blue hairs in there having lunch. WARNING PEOPLE OF COLOR!!! Did not feel welcomed. Do not go. We walked in and all eyes were on us and it was completely silent. We walk in and we end up being one of the last to be served. The waiters did not have much hospitality and did not check up on us, while everyone else was being checked up on. Loved our late lunch here today! After visiting the farmer's market down the road and a walk at the local park, we stopped for a perch sandwich with extra fries. Hubby LOVED those fries! Food was amazing, ordered the Walleye and Potato skins and while the Walleye portion was small for the price the flavor made up for it along with the amazing giant potato skins some of the best I ever had. Service wasn't the best took almost 45 minutes to get my food but refilled drinks quickly and were polite. It's a small little place but it's cozy and clean very well maintained. Saw an entry on Ohio Hidden Treasures map we'd purchased that listed Lemmy's as a local homage to the Lake Erie Monster (LEMmy". Had that small town hangout atmosphere. Had the special of the day fried Bluegill, baked potato and home made cole slaw. Bluegill and colesaw was fantastic! 5 stars. But family ordered more traditional fare that was pretty blah. Son's "chicken nuggets" tasted freezer burnt, or thawed, refrozen, thawed. Baked potato also tasted frozen..very dry. If you stop in, get the special if the day..especially if it's fish! This is the second time we were disappointed. we ordered 1 pound of Lake Erie perch for $30. We did not receive 1 pound of perch. We received 1 pound of fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and perch (and some lemon wedges). If I buy a pound of perch, for $30, I expect a pound of perch. That's not all. We found lots of bones, the perch was on the greasy side, tartar sauce is too sweet for our taste, and the slaw was mediocre at best. Headed over for an early breakfast today and enjoyed both my food and the friendliness of the owners. The place was very clean and practiced good social distancing procedures. A good local spot with a great breakfast. Talked to a local and got pointed in the direction of a local Eagle's nest when I said I was headed out to try and take some good bird shots. read more

Our usual go-to in Sandusky was closed for their family vacation, so we mozied East to Lemmy's and were 100 percent satisfied.

This has become our go to spot before our manager retreats at sawmill creek. It's a mom and pop dive and we love it! Prices are great and we've always enjoyed our food. Today's top choice was the super monster mash, I wish I had remembered to take a picture it was huge! I picked the bacon, mozzarella omelet which was delicious as well. See ya next month! read more

"2 for 1 Special: Crappy Diner & 1960s Civil Rights Museum" So, the city boy all the way from Washington, DC happens to walk in this country, good ol' boy establishment. I used Yelp to find a place and it had a 4 star rating - thanks Yelp (sarcasm). The place has a crappy name, logo, and a limited menu. Something that never happens, happened. Both me and the person whom I arrived with got an uneasy feeling before we went in. Anyone who knows me knows that I love trying new eateries, even dives, but there was a Burger King across the street that was looking really good, and Burger King had never looked that appealing to me. So, we enter and a guy gives us menus and took our drink orders. About 30 seconds after we are given the menues, the waitress comes over, doesn't greet us or anything, looks at her notepad and somewhat abbrasively says, "What are you having?" I was like, "umm... can you give us a minute to look at the menu." That was enough to recognize that we were not welcomed at this establishment. We started to leave, but just said "whatever" and stayed. Including this, I have 90 reviews, and I can't recall playing the race card once. Therefore, I would not be randomly throwing out accusations that weren't warranted. It was bizzare that my friend wasn't able to switch out fries for a baked potato in her order, even though my order was able to switch out fries for a baked potato...? I got the steak, with fries, and cottage cheese. I guess cottage cheese is a "thing" there because the waitress seemed REALLY disappointed that I didn't eat most of my cottage cheese...which in turn made me really thankful that I didn't eat it. Who knows what was up with that cottage cheese? It makes you really uncomfortable eating in a restaurant where you know you aren't wanted because you wonder what they are capable of doing to your food. I literally took about 3 bites into my steak and she came with the check. Didn't ask if I wanted desert, didn't fill up drinks. Another older white lady was mean mugging me and when she noticed me noticing her, she tried to play it off and come over and get the plates off our table. For what it's worth, the steak was below average with no flavor and needed steak sauce. The cottage cheese (I had one or two bites) had no flavor. In closing, if you like your meal with a side order of racism, then Lemmy's is your spot. Race relations aren't my focal point because I am in a bigger battle against Satan. It just seems stupid to me because it takes SOOOO much more energy to be mean than to be nice, or even neutral. It's unfortunate because God tells people to touch not His annointed and they disrespected TWO annointed people at once. Woe to them. I went on ahead and tipped her as usual because she looked like she needed the money. She tried to be a littel nicer toward the end, but the true colors had already been shown. I was in the area today and went Yelp to find a local place to eat at. I found LEMmy's and the reviews looked good so I figured I'd try it. I walked in and seated myself. The waitress came quick and got my drink order. She was all business. No real personality but no complaints on service. I ordered the Black Bean Burger and onion rings. I assumed that when I ordered onion rings she would just sub the fries. No. I got both. The burger was good. Perfectly cooked, which is hard with bean burgers. The onion rings were fantastic. The fires, not so much. They were soft and I can't stand soft fries. I ate by myself and walked out with a bill of $9.48. I'd come back. read more

They are open from 6 am to 2:30. New owners and a new face lift. Place looks great! They got rid of the old gross carpet and really cleaned the place up. Service and food are a lot better too. They only serve breakfast till 10:30 - so don't be late. I hope they change to all day breakfast - some of us aren't early risers. This is a great choice to pick if you are tired of fast food places or just want a change. I'll be back. read more

2nd time here for breakfast. This was not a great experience. Ordered two eggs cooked hard, bacon, toast, and home fries after asking her what the ham was like. She couldn't tell me whether it was thick or thin. Asked for decaf but none was made so she said she would have to make some. The eggs came out over easy with runny whites (yuck!). She never came back to check on us. Too busy I guess with other customers. Finally I caught her attention when we were almost totally finished with the breakfast and said to cancel the decaf. She said she had already put it on. I said we were ready to leave and I no longer wanted it. She wasn't friendly to begin with and I don't think I helped at the final moments. If I return it will be because they have good lake perch, but probably won't be back for breakfast. read more

We enjoyed lunch at LEMmy's after a long morning of birding at Sheldon Marsh. My husband and son loved their perch sandwiches -- light breading with plenty of perch flavor coming through. My grilled chicken with swiss cheese and mushrooms also satisfied. Great taste and hot, although the bun did get a bit soggy after a while. Homemade french fries were hot and tasty. Finished the meal with cherry and pecan pies, also fresh and delicious. Danny was an attentive server, and the man sweeping the floors, whom I assume was the owner and maybe Danny's dad, was friendly and also very attentive to our needs. Why put the customer in position to have to ask for something that you Already KNEW you didn't have?!? French fries tasted like leftovers that they dunked in hot oil to revive them-soggy limp and tasteless and they hid a pile of burnt grayish "fries" underneath to make it look like a fuller portion! Many corners being cut here. Maybe their breakfast is worthwhile. I'll never know because I won't be back. But if you enjoy generic cheap condiments, below average ingredients and the overall impression that they are doing you a BIG FAVOR you will love this place.
