We hired the company to "open our pool".....$1000 bucks (which is ridiculous)....and they leave a note that says: "Will have to come back to finish the vac, backwash, and balance the chemicals *Pool was a bit murky, so we left the system running 25/ in service until we return" Im not sure, but sounds to me as though they didn't finish the job and they are coming back, right? NO!!!!!! I called to ask when and they said they would send someone out for and additional $500 bucks...and stupid me, I agree!!!!! because Im the type of sucker that a business like this relies on taking advantage of. So thats the end, right? NO!!!!!!! They don't show up and when I call again, its my fault!!! So now we are two weeks and about $1500 bucks into getting this pool open and still no end in sight. But is that the end? NO!!!!!!! We were charged nearly $1000 bucks to replace 15 small tiles!!! Why? IDK....perhaps they flew artisans in from Italy. $2500 bucks....15 small tiles.....and a bowl of water I can not swim in.....do yourself a favor.....find someone that has some pride in their business, some sense of value for the customer, and frankly someone that will be around next year.......because these guys will go under and deserve it. AND SHAME ON YELP FOR MAKING ME GIVE AT LEAST 1 STAR!!!!

We spent over a year trying to find a fair priced, communicative, and quality contractor who was even available to do the renovation work. We had ridiculously high quotes, quotes not itemized, blatant gouging, and folks who would not even return phone calls. Then we found Brian and Northstar Pools. From the first moments, I knew this was not your average NJ contractor. He was extremely polite, knowledgeable, humble - and clearly held to their mantra of providing only caring and customer-focused service - but he really knows his stuff on top of that! His prices were fair and enumerated in detail, so I knew exactly what I was getting. But it took a couple of months while I did more research - and during that time he was ever so patient, answered all my questions, and helped me arrive at a plan that worked. Once work started, he and his crew worked very hard and efficiently to tackle this beast of a project. As I was juggling the logistics of the other related landscaping and electrical work (and not to mention the weather), Brian was super accommodating and patient in coordinating all the work with me. When the inevitable need for plan changes occurred - Brian took everything in stride to make sure I was satisfied. The DIYer and engineer in me forced me to ask a LOT of questions as work progressed (and I mean a LOT). Brian answered every single one of them patiently and professionally - even the stupid ones. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were clearly evident. He even crawled ten feet under the new liner he just installed to remove a few pebbles that had found their way underneath - on a nice hot August day no less. Things started well when he was asked to help us secure a new hot tub last November. We paid…read moreupfront for the hot tub. Then he asked us to pay the annual contract around Christmas 2025. We were reluctant but did it in light of the holiday season. We were told the hot tub would come multiple times. Sometimes it was valid (e.g., winter weather), others it wasn't. We were upfront about the location challenges, timing, coordination contacts. Long story short, after taking $11K from us, we never heard from him again around June. The hot tub never materialized. This is clearly a lesson in "if it's too good to be true then it's not". At first, we were concerned about him as a person and hoped everything was ok with him. Then after multiple outreaches from us and the person who referred him to us receiving no responses, we concluded that he was likely lying to us the whole time. The person who referred him to us also stopped receiving services as I was told Erik stopped answering him as well. I guess Erik lost multiple customers. To be fair, when we got a hold of him (infrequently between Nov '25 - Jun '26), he's a nice man and quite knowledgeable about hot tubs. However, there's no integrity in business dealing as he just stopped answering phone calls and texts. He asked for chances to make things right, and we provided chances. If he can't do something, just be upfront and honest! We filed a chargeback with our bank in hopes to recover the funds. We will be filing a police report for criminal fraud as it's over $10K and I will share it here so everyone can see all the texts, the invoices paid, and you can judge for yourself whether this is a trustworthy business or not.

Do NOT use Erik with the Spa Valet…read more While knowledgeable, we have had problems for years with inconsistent service and a lack of accountability. We put in our hot tub a few years ago, and we hired Erik almost immediately for weekly service. The first year, service was good and we had no complaints other than our weekly service was rarely weekly. As time passed, our rarely used hot tub always had a problem and was never working properly on the random times we were trying to use it. The past year, our weekly service was almost non existent. I texted repeatedly because our water levels seemed to consistently be low. In January, we were told we needed a motor. We purchased a new motor and we were asked to renew our annual contract in April. After expressing concern that no one had been showing up, I was told they had staffing problems and that Erik would show up personally on a weekly basis and would provide proof of service. Erik showed up once two weeks after signing a 6 month contract to let me know we needed a new cover. We paid for the cover in full, and he has never come again. It's my understanding that he is having some personal issues; I tried to be understanding and asked for responses to my texts and actual service calls. Erik never showed up again when he said he would and stopped texting me. We have since had someone else come out to address our hot tub only to be told that we have had a leak for over a year and that some lights have burnt out.

He will list every excuse under the sun, he woke up late, didn't hear his phone, lost his phone, car was broken into, his employees stole from him, till he just stops answering. Do yourself a favor and find someone else. Needless to say he didn't finish the job actually left it worse so another company will have to start over and tear down what he did (might I add it was done incorrectly as well).

I just bought a house at the end of last summer and unfortunately i inherited a pool that needed a lot of help and maintenance. Trying to find pool servicers was already difficult to begin with and because charles responded and provided me a reasonable price i decided to go with him. Little did i know that his reliability and quality of work would be far below satisfactory. Many times he committed to appointments and would either come late or not show up without even a call. I literally got a response one time that he slept late. I had to chase him various times and because i was desperate to get this done, i kept giving i him opportunities to come back. When he finally replaced my filter and pump, now it appears that there is a leak in my pool that i hadn't had before his service. His response was that it's probably the pipes or skimmer due to the water falling below the skimmer line when this was never an issue. Not to mention he was the one that replaced the pipes leading to the filter from the skimmer. Instead he says he'll take care of it next year when we're ready to open the pool assuming that i would even continue to do business with him. Lastly, i purchased a cover pump as part of this transaction and both of them have died on me. He committed to coming last saturday to replace it under "his warranty" and of course he didn't show up nor respond to my text. Please beware of this pool service provider and consider calling another legitimate company.

But more than that I truly felt he went out of his way to make sure I received the best service possible and was happy with our new pool. In addition to pool installation, I had to have a sewer pit installed and a retaining wall with additional cement patio. Both supplied contractors were very good. The sewer pit was installed by Mikula Contracting out of Clifton, and I couldn't say enough about them. Professional, timely and completion of job was unmatched. They went above the contracted service to assist with my gutter connections and leveling my yard. The concrete work was performed by New Way Construction. Isaiah, in my opinion is a very honorable man. His work we are very pleased with, and is dedication to my ultimate satisfaction was extremely appreciated. I have and will continue to recommend his services to family and friends.
