This review is going to focus on Lee's amazing Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Deli Manjoo freshly baked cream cakes. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Located in the Saigon Cali Mall, Lee's Sandwiches is a convenience store and sandwich shop rolled into one place. Heads up, very little English is spoken here, but if you can point to what you want, you'll be ok. There are plenty of tables and chairs for seating, and you'll line up and snake through shelves of snacks and goodies to entice you as you. There are also drink fridges that contain Vietnamese desserts and Iced Coffee (details below), and a huge room where you can see how the bread is baked. 1 Star. Service - Service is fast and efficient but check out is awkward. If you are buying items from the store, you bring them to the checkout counter which has a chest-high windowpane that separates you from the staff. Now, if all you're doing is placing a sandwich or drink order, this is no problem. But if you've been shopping for items you're holding, you must pass them over to the staff to check out. Like I said, it's awkward. 1/2 Star. Food - I know "Sandwiches" is in the name, but I don't get my Vietnamese Banh Mi here. But Lee's is my GO-TO place for Vietnamese Iced Coffee. You can order from the staff, but I also like to grab a bottle from the drink fridge to take home. Lee's Vietnamese Iced Coffee has the perfect amount of creamy condensed milk that makes the coffee go down so smooth. It may be on the sweet side, but if you buy a bottle to take home you can control the sweetness by adding more ice. I also always take home a box of Deli Manjoo. Occasionally, a staff member will make these soft, vanilla crèmes filled cakes fresh - which is the best time to buy. But if you can't buy them fresh, you can buy a box to take home. Just pop in your microwave, cover with a damp paper tolel, and after 30 seconds you'd think it was fresh out of the oven. 1 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Full Transparency - I'm not a fan of Lee's Vietnamese Banh Mi. But I absolutely will come back for their Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I'll even take some home since I live far away. It's been a while since I last stopped in to get a sandwich here at Lee's. I usually get their #1 which is the combination banh mi. Same good taste but I think there are mom and pop banh mi places around especially in Garland that are better In my opinion. They also sell other Vietnamese rice cakes and treats that I haven't had the chance to try since I'm not very familiar with a lot of them. The line can get long here around lunch time but I didn't have that problem during this visit. Keep your receipt after paying to keep up with your order number. They usually call out the number in Vietnamese so sometimes it's hard to figure out. I just stand by the pick up area and kinda show them the number on my receipt when they are calling one out. This is extra important when they are dishing out one sandwich after another. Their signature coffee is the one that stand out the most. It creamy, sweet, and very strong. 1 stars based on service I go to this place all the time and it seems like everytime I go in there the service gets worse and worse I'm not sure if they just don't care anymore or what. I waiting almost 40 minutes for my sandwiches when I was told no more than 20 minutes. Saw multiple customers go in and out while I'm sitting there getting ignored because they forgot about my food. I stopped in Lee's Bakery to get a Vietnamese Iced Coffee, 3 days in a row because of how delicious and refreshing they are!! A few days ago, I stopped in with my two younger children and grabbed three iced coffees. Big mistake. As I walked out the front door, two tipped over and dropped. Extremely embarrassing but eh, things happen I guess. I went back in to let them know about the mess I made and also to order two new coffees. Coming from California, these location where almost everywhere near my original area. So when I tell you I was EXTREMELY excited when I found this place, it was like a peace of heaven, lol. With that being said, I ordered my food early in the morning right as they opened. The food was delicious, egg rolls were super fresh and the spring rolls, my god the spring rolls! The estética are relatively as expected, and exactly as they looked like the ones back home. I love the loaves of French bread that just came out of the oven. The sandwiches were also delicious and I am proud to say that I have tried almost all of them. My last item on the menu is the fried egg sandwich, which I will check off by the end of next week. This store also sell other items as well so you just have to make a visit and take a look at the selection on display. There are a lot of authentic Vietnamese items on the counter in front of the cash registers. The French butter in red containers is another item that I will always keep an eye on whenever they are available. The folks taking your orders are always polite and courteous. Two out of two times I ordered the Vietnamese coffee through drive through and they forgot about my order. I had to either drive back to the order box or honk to let them know I'm still there. I don't believe they make their coffee fresh anymore. You're probably wondering how I know. 1st time I ordered I waited almost 10 minutes for my coffee at the drive through thinking they're going through the whole drip process. But when I drove up more and looked behind my coffee was ready on the table with no one to service. 2nd time I only waited for 5 minutes before I honked my horn before someone came to bring the coffee that was also sitting on a table. Plus, the ice is filled to the brim. Typically when you pour hot/warm coffee on ice it will melt a little bit. But the ice is packed in the cup and coffee is not even filled to the top. And when you ask for less ice they'll fill the coffee half way with ice in the coffee. Probably better to ask for the Vietnamese coffee hot and bring your own cup of ice. Plus, they raised the price to an absurd amount. When I wanted to order a large cup they were charging $7. That's almost a whole sandwich! What coffee cost the same amount as a sandwich?! I used to go to Lee's Sandwiches back at home in CA. I've lived in Texas since 2011 and had NO idea that I could get my Lee's Sandwiches fix here in the DFW! I live in North Arlington & we are spoiled with the classic Ba Le Banh Mi's here but 8 just HAD to see if this location lived up to my California childhood memories. It was a little bit of a drive, but the nostalgia was so worth it to me. Location: The restaurant name was a little bit hard for me to find, since it's located inside of an Asian shopping center. You will see it towards the left of the shopping strip. When we walked in from the parking lot entrance, there was a little bit of confusion on our part because there was multiple windows and the register area to order food was really crowded with pre packaged goodies. Follow the cute aisle starting from the mall entrance to your right (assuming you're also using the parking lot entrance) and you'll make it to the register without the confusion we had. Service: The servers behind the register were so nice and patient with us. Since I hadn't been in awhile, and my husband and mother in law has never been, we ordered very slow. They didn't rush us or get impatient. Granted, there was no line behind us, but I still loved the service enough to mention it. Food Quality: I'm going to be honest with you, I can't say the Banh Mi's here are better than Ba Le in Arlington because it just wouldn't be fair! The sandwiches at Lee's are different and deserves to be recognized for its own qualities. I love the thin Do Chua (pickled carrots/daikon slaw) on the sandwiches. I feel like this gave the sandwich a more uniform flavor in each bite. You get a little bit of meat, a little Do Chua, a little Mayo, cilantro, cucumber, and Paté every time. The bread was a little tougher than I remember, but the flavor of the meat really made up for it. We tried to Vegetarian, BBQ Pork, Grilled pork, and Combination. Their Vietnamese coffee is SOOOO good! I wish they didn't put so much ice, because the drink was gone in like 4 sips, but man, it was absolutely delicious. The Thai Tea was good too - a little on the sweeter side, but not overly sweet. They got it just right. Value: They had a buy 4 sandwiches get 1 free special. It seems to be a permanent special, so we took advantage of the deal. Each sandwich was roughly $4, but they are quite large, imo. They are worth the money and I think they were generous with the paté, which isn't always the case, so I was surprisingly delighted. Overall: I'm so pleased to finally be able to have Lee's Sandwiches again! I'll be returning regularly so my 9 month old son can enjoy his own memories of this childhood staple of mine. Love the cafe sua da here---the right amount of sweetness and kick. Ba Le sandwiches are better, unfortunately....even though Lee's bake their own bread, it's just not as soft & "fluffy" as Ba Le Arlington. Their pork pate chauds are delish!!! Greasy, but delish! I love their sesame buns too. If this place was closer to home I would snack here more often. Service is always quick and friendly. After following a friends recommendation, the Lee's coffee tasted robust and delicious. However, the amount of ice in the cup was reaching the lid! When I addressed this with the young woman at the cashier, she said that they normally wait for the ice to melt before serving so the volume can increase. Best Banh Mi in my life! After eating a Banh Mi here, I dont' here I can eat anywhere else. I don't like baguettes that are TOO crunchy on the outside to the point where its scary biting into because some of the pieces may possibly fly into your eyes or hurt your gum... The baguettes here are baked daily. You can really taste the freshness and it is amazing how much good bread can change your whole experience in a sandwhich. The outside has the perfect layer of crunchy but not to the point where anything will fly to you and hurt you. After passing the crunchy layer, it is all softness and sweetness of the delicious bread. They use their house made mayo and I think the proportions of the meat and veggies are perfect. Yes, the veggie cuts are huge but I like experiencing a different texture every bite. I would say the Banh Mi itself is more so on the slimmer side, but the cost and taste and amount, everything is on point to me. Don't forget to order their Lee's Iced Coffee. I wish they gave you less ice, but for the price, I can't complain. I've also had their Hot Latte before and its pretty good too. I love how this Lee's Sandwhich has a drive thru. Crazy good coffee. My sister gets a box of 24 bottles of red cap coffee and whoa. The best cafe sua da ever when you add a little milk and ice! We just add it all to our travel mugs and time does the rest. When It becomes a little diluted it's the best. Drink it straight from the bottle and you'll probably stay awake for a week. Honesly, nothing compares to this coffee and I do think that it's better than starbucks... even CHEAPER! Great sandwiches, but be aware that they're not very meaty. It's not a chicken sandwich, but a vegetable sandwich with some chicken in it. The amount of meat in the sandwich is comparable to other bahn mi's served in the area, though. where they shine is the absence of MSG. Other bahn mi joints serve up bucket loads of MSG in their sandwiches, leaving me parched with heart palpitations afterwards. They don't have any detectable MSG in their sandwich. Also, the carrots and daikon are home pickled carrots and daikon, not just sliced carrots and diakon like at other Bahn Joints. It is in a corner of a viet supermarket. The service is quick and efficient. Their chicken pies are not very good. It is not solid chicken inside like in their Bahn Mi's. The chicken pies have chicken meatballs made of some sort of chicken flavored soy or gluten protein product inside with no veggies at all and no gravy. No bueno. The chilled guava or passion fruit drink is very sour, not sweek and sour. No bueno, unless you like sour. The price is right, though. It is only 3 dollars and change for a sandwich and if you buy 4, you get one free. I suggest you buy 4, get one free, eat one or two now, and save some for later. read more

This place is a bit hard to find and doesn't help their phone is disconnected so seriously thought they were out of business till I saw recent reviews having it was inside a shopping area (in the corner). That being said, I went to try their Deli Manjoo after someone recommended them to me. I remember having them in Korea but they were a bit bigger and lots more cream filling. So went got those and their coconut waffles. The Deli Manjoo was good but you can't even tell there is any cream filling. That was a bit disappointing. The coconut waffles though was amazing, fluffy and coconut flakes throughout. It's in this huge little Saigon center with a grocery store, shops, and huge food court so definitely will go back and check out the rest of the area. This Lee's location is a bit off the freeway and tucked in the back corner of a strip mall. When I was there, they had a buy 2, get 1 free offer (on a printed out computer paper sign). The menu here does not have as many pictures as at other Lee's locations, so that may present a problem for some. I have also noticed that in general, the Lee's menus are hard on the eyes as they are not organized very well. The inside has a lot of seating and of course a TV. It is set up café style with one line feeding to many cashiers when needed. Their baked goods are flaunted out for everyone to see and the display is just okay. This is the only Lee's in the area, but depending on where in the Metroplex you are, there is likely a better banh mi place where you are at.
