For those unfamiliar, a Mongolian BBQ is simply a bowl of vegetables and meat with a selection of sauces. Nothing is complex. You pick your veggies, your meat and then add the sauces you like. It's then cooked on a hot iron grill. The cool thing about the experience is you are effectively the cook. You define what tastes and textures you like. In all, it's an easy place to enjoy because you can create your own concoction. I also like that I get to define the size of my meal. If I am feeling really hungry, I can go for the AYCE or just do a small bowl on normal days. They also offer "egg rolls" which are unique to the restaurant. Fried up in an egg batter, they are light, crunchy and delicious. They have even recently started to serve crab and cheese wontons as well and they are very good. The food here is not amazing but it is definitely a great spot when you are in the mood. Lee's doesn't pretend to be fancy or provide anything more than the BBQ. I have been dining here for years and it is always the same and always delicious. Yes, the inside is dated but it is great where it counts! This is one of the reason's I continue to come back. I've been coming here for almost 27 years. I love the simplicity of the menu, the good food, and the sweet people who work here as well as the amazing owners. The egg rolls are more uniform in shape now, but still awesome. I miss the old pocket bread, but I still enjoy everything else. Mix up the sauces and try different mixes, you will love it! The staff is friendly, there's many selections of food, and the sauces are done right. Nobody does the sauces right, but Lee's has that down. The atmosphere is nice and small and the music is themed. You get all the meats you get at most Mongolian restaurants. The wontons, sesame seed bread and egg drop soup were all great and the dipping sauce for the bread had a nice apple flavor--probably the highlight of the meal for me. If I could offer advice it would be to have more options as far as noodles and sauces and add ons like jalapeños and peanuts which both go well with Mongolian. Lee's is a total dive on the outside but the inside wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We walked in the door and they directed us to a table. We sat down to wait for a waitress to bring menu's. The owner came over because it was obvious we didn't know what we were doing. He walked us through the process. And here it is: Walk up to the bar, grab a bowl and choose your meat (beef, chicken, pork, etc.) then add your noddles & veggies. Then you come to the sauces. There's soy sauce, lobster sauce, sweet, vinegar, veg. oil, seseme oil, curry sauce, & garlic. Not knowing what I was doing I added a couple scoops. The owner came to help and showed me their suggested sauce mixture. I ended up adding about 15 scoops to the bowl and then I handed it off to the lady who cooked it on the grill. Within a minute she handed it back and I was enjoying my delicious Mongolian BBQ. The one and only waitress for the whole place brought our drinks and complimentary rice, egg drop soup, pocket bread (try stuffing it with your bbq) and cream cheese wantons. We also ordered egg rolls. DELICIOUS! As far as pricing, there are no menus but everything is written on blackboards. One time through the BBQ line is $9.45 and unlimited times through the line is $10.45. No brainer there. Except you do get full pretty fast. Soda is your standard $1.99 with unlimited refills. Egg rolls were 70 cents each. And they had a couple other sides you could order. So dinner for myself & my hubby came to $26. Not bad at all. I love this place. It's an Ogden original. It's a "hole in the wall" joint that pleases. I like to mix meats in my bowl and go heavy on the veggies. There's almost an informal contest between regulars to see who can get food stacked the highest in their bowls. Don't worry about being messy when loading your bowl- they clean up constantly. Go with the recommended quantities on the sauces until you've been a few times. I go less on the oils and lobster sauce and more on the soy, curry, and garlic. Tips: if you want to try something more go with a side of fry bread and an egg roll. They're definitely not "healthy" but they are very good. Only reason this place didn't get 5 stars from me is that I wish there were more choice for things to add to your bowl. Follow the posted recipe for the liquid seasonings and you won't be disappointed. The egg rolls are puffy and amazing! EDIT: They changed their egg roll recipe and flat bread recipe.
