I have been to many Mongolian Grills/BBQ places over the years. I found this one to be one of the better ones. We were seated immediately and my wife went up first. Just like all the others, you get a bowl and fill it up. They have a great selection of meats and veggies more so than most others. They even had lamb, ham, and seafood. We did lunch so lunch bowl with a drink for $12.45. I noticed that several people took two bowls, one for meat and one for veggies. This is ok. You also get mini egg roles and rice. One thing I found interesting is that you start out with a bowl and when it is finished cooking they put it on a plate. I will be going back. read more

Heard rave reviews about this grill; unfortunately I was only marginally impressed. HUGE selection of the usual oriental buffet, and lots of choices for making your grill, however, not much on keeping the buffet wiped down and neat. Service to the table for drinks and the items that came with the buffet and removing plates was slow. (I don't remember any of our plates being removed.) Cook on grill was working as fast as he could, but there was quite a crowd, so the wait time suffered. Nothing really stood out here except without the hovering service, your drinks will run dry, but at least you won't be bothered to leave your table and can take time to visit with your guests/table mates. read more

Great Mongolian BBQ. First time at an all you can eat version and that made it way better where you don't feel like you had to cram down all the food into your bowl. There's a sign posted on their door about being understaffed and I felt bad for the two people working a busy dinner shift. They did a great job cooking/cleaning and serving/waiting tables. An update in the COVID era: We still find the Mongolian grill choices reasonably okay--and do like that they have green beans, cha siu pork, and lamb, a few of our well-liked ingredients HuHot still hasn't added. Outside of the seafood, that is-- squid, fake crab, shrimp and scallops can be hit and miss in taste quality at times. It is still worthwhile tipping the fellow working the grill (who tries the hardest to serve patrons well) and skip the sub-par soup and fried rice they will bring to the table. I'm knocking my previous review down a star because in this COVID time the woman seating us gave us a bit of grief to be socially distanced from the table where she wanted to seat us right next to a table already seated with other patrons. I had to be trained last summer on Davis County's rules for restaurants, so it was annoying to not have them following them as well as they should. (As such our weekend meal ended up having too many patrons seated inside the restaurant than they should have had.) That said, after a minor pushback she did meet our request to be seated socially distant when we mentioned the issue. And staff were all masked behind the grill and when bringing our drinks/refills and fried spring rolls to the table. I think the $12 dinner price is a touch high for the quality, service and ambiance that they offer. Though I don't fully hold that against them given that HuHot (a bit higher in cost) has now arrived to town, and given that COVID has put pressure on how patrons are supposed to be served. read more

I ate there with my son yesterday, when they brought us rice mine was different from my sons. he had plain white. Always amazing. Here's a tip: instead of going through the line twice (because you undoubtedly will want to), just grab two bowls- one for veggies and toppings, and the other for noodles and meat. Delicious food! $18 for an all you can eat here is well justified. They always had all their food options well stocked and would consistently be cleaning all around like the table at the sauce bar that sauce often drips on. I had moved up to the Layton area in the mid 2000s, and was missing the "Mongolian Grill" style food I had back in Washington. I was happy when in 2009ish, when the simply named Mongolian Grill opened its doors. Over the years, nothing's changed ... and that's a good thing. Tucked betwixt a Papa Murphy's and a chiropractor in the Antelope Drive shopping center is a great lunch at a great price. You'll find a lot of Hill AFB soldiers and families here ... and how can you blame them? You don't just get bang for your buck, you get bang and boom. I've been there 50+ times, and I always leave happy and full. The concept is simple: You get a bowl, select as many or as much of the twenty-or-so veggies you want; pick your type(s) of noodle; ladle your sauces (as much as you want, including Kung Pao, Lemon, Sweet & Sour, Garlic, Orange Peel, Teriyaki, Ginger, Soy Sauce, Cooking Wine, Sesame, BBQ, and a handful of others); pick your meat (beef, pork, chicken, lamb, shrimp and other shellfish, etc.), and wait for them to to cook it on the big round grill. After a few minutes, they dish up your food. You can finish it off with sesame seeds and peanuts, and head off to your table ... where you'll find a complimentary bowl of rice (fried or steamed), spring roll, and soup (egg drop or hot & sour) waiting for you. And the best part ... you can go back for more from the grill, as many times as you want. Actually, the best part is you get that and a drink for under $10. It was time to go back and see how this place stacked up to the new Mongolian grill in town. The last time I ate here I was disappointed, the grill itself was dirty and the selection at the ingredient bar needed replenishing. I gave it three stars and promptly forgot about it. During the intervening months, a new Mongolian place opened up in town and I've eaten there several times. This afternoon I was driving past and, on a whim, I decided to give it another shot. I was not disappointed this time. The place was clean, the grill itself was clean. The service and staff was great. The ingredient bar was well stocked and the selection was much greater than at the other place. The only minus was the venue, although clean and tidy, it's dated but that's not a reason to dock it any stars - it's a Mongolian Grill, not haute cuisine. Bottom line is this is my new "go to" Mongolian place. It has a better selection than the local competition and it's a few bucks less expensive. It deserves every one of four stars I'm giving it. read more

This gets 3 stars not because the food isn't good, but their service is just awful. The all you can eat mongolian bbq really is tasty and the cooks at the grill do an awesome job. They aren't the problem. We have gone plenty of times. Probably close to ten since they opened. Every waitress we have had just seemed angry or just downright annoyed to be there. Getting a refill is like pulling teeth. Even for water. But there is one experience that stands out for me. The sign said they closed at 9pm. We got there around 8:15. Plenty of time to eat. I sat down, ordeted, got my first plate of bbq. At about 8:30, halfway through my plate, a waitress came up to tell me if I wanted another plate I neefed to get it then because they were closing up. Say what? All you can eat does not mean 2 plates. Its 30 minutes before YOUR posted closing time. Let me eat in peace! I will be out of here around 9, but don't rush me! You grab a bowl, throw some meat in there, add the veggies, and then add the sauces. Give it to the guy to cook and you get to taste what you came up with. You choose the wrong combos and you suffer with what you chose. If you got the right combo, you enjoy a meal. Is it worth the risk? That is the beauty of a Mongolian grill. I came here for lunch with some co workers and I thought it was ok. I'm not a big fan of trying to figure out which sauces go best with each other. To master it I'd probably have to come here 50 times until I got the right combos. It is all you can eat but usually after one round that is all I can eat. I doubt I will come here again because I pay to eat at places that have already figured out how to cook dishes and know the best flavors to combine. Good experience though. One other thing is the meat is sliced thin so when it cooks it shrinks so my recommendation is if you want a fair amount of meat you should load up on it while it is raw. read more

We've been regulars of this restaurant since we moved to the area in '17. We only ever get the Mongolian buffet, which is all you can eat (but no doggie bags!) and comes with rice, soup (egg drop or hot & sour) and literally the tastiest veggie egg rolls around. The buffet food is always fresh, and the meat kept frozen (you know it's not sitting around spoiling). I usually grab one bowl full of meat and noodles, and then a second stacked with veggies, and the chef combines them on the grill into one big plate. There's also a nice, wide variety of sauces to create your own flavor profile. There are some suggestions posted near the sauces to get you started, too. (I often go with suggested blend #2, plus extra chili oil and garlic.) Go during lunch for the best price. If you bring your kids they have a sliding pay scale based on the kids' age. read more

I liked this place for the simplicity and the variety. Plenty of meat and veggie options to fill your belly. Relaxed setting leaves you wanting to stay and eat more (maybe my hunger too). The cook was nice and seemed to know how to cook it up while singing a happy tune. The server was nice and kept my glass filled. The only downside to this place, as with any of its kind is the buffet layout leaves you questioning the cleanliness. Seemed ok, so I put down three bowls of food :). I'm very happy with this restaurant. There are some bad reviews about the cleanliness of this place, I bet it depends on the time of day but while this is my first time here it is very clean. There is a pretty large selection to make almost anyone happy. The staff is very friendly and quick to help you out get you a drink our just about anything. The reason I am giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because of the cross contamination during cooking. This is not a big deal to me at all, but some of my vegan friends I'm sure would njoy eat here because of it. read more

I noticed that there have some negative reviews for this place. I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have yet to have a negative experience. I would recommend the Mongolian Barbecue. The rest of the menu is rather mediocre. That is not negative for me. You prepare your own bowl for the grill. There is a good variety of meats available. The food was good but I had to not think about what I witnessed ... I am surprised this place passes a health inspection. While mine and 4 others were having their food cooked on the grill, the chef dipped a small pitcher into a white 10 gallon bucket under the counter into water which he then poured onto the food on the grill. This bucket was filthy on the outside and I could see a brown ring inside of it. His hand also dipped into the water. I hate to see how dirty that water is. Absolutely disgusting and I won't be back. I went to the Davis County Health Inspection reports found online. I love to have lunch at the Mongolian Grill. It seems to be getting more popular, so the word must be getting out. This is one of my favorite kinds of food. I have have been there multiple times and have never left unhappy. Make sure you tip the guy at the grill, but don't waste your money on the wait staff. They seem to be slow and unresponsive. If you don't expect much from them you won't be dissapointed. It's just really good food. The best part is I get to pick exaclty what I want and someone else cooks it.
