The decor is nothing amazing and I would definitely classify this place as a "hole in a wall", but the mongolian grill is very good and the price very reasonable. The food was good but I had to not think about what I witnessed ... I am surprised this place passes a health inspection. While mine and 4 others were having their food cooked on the grill, the chef dipped a small pitcher into a white 10 gallon bucket under the counter into water which he then poured onto the food on the grill. This bucket was filthy on the outside and I could see a brown ring inside of it. His hand also dipped into the water. I hate to see how dirty that water is. Absolutely disgusting and I won't be back. I went to the Davis County Health Inspection reports found online. Their most recent report only had 1 violation ... that's surprising but they have been put on probation previously including failing on the pest, rodents, bug inspection at one time. read more

I love to have lunch at the Mongolian Grill. It seems to be getting more popular, so the word must be getting out. This is one of my favorite kinds of food. I have have been there multiple times and have never left unhappy. Make sure you tip the guy at the grill, but don't waste your money on the wait staff. They seem to be slow and unresponsive. If you don't expect much from them you won't be dissapointed. It's just really good food. The best part is I get to pick exaclty what I want and someone else cooks it. I would give it 5 stars if they took the service up a few notches. Update: I went there again this week. It looks like they may have increased the number of wait staff. K. It is what it is. Not super clean, not super organized, not really everything I could hope for in a Mongolian BBQ. But there are precious few of these open in Utah and sometimes one needs a fix. This last time I went to Mongolian grill there were a few things different from how I remember and then some things have changed. First off, the food from the grill is still good. The cooks do a great job of cooking the food, but if it tastes bad you're the one most likely to blame for not mixing ingredients and seasoning it correctly. The service was not great... a couple of people at the table didn't get any soup nor did they get a spring roll with the meal. I ordered the hot and sour.... and it was decent. The flavor was bland and it wasn't very spicy. I prefer the hot and sour at Guosu any day over this. The spring roll was disgusting.... The vegetables were undercooked and it was very bland. Ewww! I was recently introduced to Mongolian BBQ at HoHut in Sandy. It was delicious and now I crave it but Sandy is far so we decided to try this place. I was deeply disappointed. They don't have a good selection of noodles at all - spagetti and angel hair is all they offer. I love the Pad Thai noodles!! The selection of meat and veggies is good enough. Instead of peas they have peas and carrots which I didn't care for. I LOVE peas but they only have peas and carrots, they also have thin sliced carrots also so I don't understand why they couldn't just have peas without more carrots mixed in. The sauces were just awful tho. The House Sauce tasted like it was just Soy Sauce, which I hate. They also had Teriyaki and a BBQ sauce neither of which I like very much. I used their Kung Pao sauce which was ok but not hot at all. What I really wanted, what I crave from HuHot is the Peanut Sauce. This place had nothing to compare. I couldn't eat most of my first plate because I tried the noodles and they were awful. I went back and mostly got veggies which was much better. I ate them with some of the brown rice they brought to the table which was good. The egg rolls had a weird taste so I didn't love those either. All around a very disappointing meal. We won't be going back. I guess I'll be making more trips to Sandy for HuHot. read more

Ive been here quite a few times. Definitely come with an empty stomach. If you arent familiar with Mongolian grill you are in for a treat. They do have a menu option where you can select certain dishes but I come here for the all you can eat. Basically you pick the meats, noodles,vegetables, and then seasoning. For all the times Ive been here its always been the same cook on the grill. Always is entertaining to watch your food being cooked and having the plates you are about to eat on get tossed into the air. I believe the lunch special all you can eat is a little cheaper than dinner. But the dinner has the seafood option with the all you can eat. read more

I really really want to like this place. Here's the thing. It's good. There's a huge variety of meats and vegetables to choose from, the prices are right, and the cooks are diligent. Service is good too. I went there today for only my third time, and I had a good meal. Not fantastic, not horrible, just good. That being said, and for those of you who know that I really don't give a crap about ambience, the place is dirty. I'm sure they try, but they really do overlook some things. I could feel the greasy tile under my feet, and that could be a one time deal. The thing that gets me about this place is the booth area, and the Asian decor screen dividers along the windows. Please check my photos when you get a chance. The dividers are filthy, and there are holes in the fabric where playful children, or unrefined adults have obviously been entertained by poking holes in them. And yes, if you look carefully at my photos, THAT is a HAIR. YUCK! I so want to like this place, and believe it or not I will go back. I like their method, and I appreciate the variety. True rating is 3.5 but I'm rounding up due to employee friendliness & welcoming vibe. Great selection of meats & seafood (we visited on a Saturday evening if that helps anyone) the bar where you prep your bowl was messy however it was very busy & idk how anyone could maintain a perfectly clean stocked bar in those conditions. My only slightly beg feedback is there are no prices posted & if they had something printed we weren't given it. Unsure of what was included in our meal but overall we left satisfied & full. We don't live in this area, but we make the drive to eat here because it's consistently delicious, with great service and prices. Due to food sensitivities, this is one of the safe places where our whole family is guaranteed to have a meal they enjoy. There's ample parking, and it's pretty close to the freeway. Inside, there's a lot of tables and booths. We've never had to wait very long, if at all, for a table. We love that rice and soup come with the meal. You can go back for seconds, too. The all-you-can-eat BBQ grill is the best option here--and it's fresh and has many choices of meats and veggies as well as delicious sauces. The meal comes with a choice of egg drop soup or won-ton soup, plus the standard egg roll. Save your stomach for the fresh grilled items. I have come here probably 20+ times and I would say my family easily 60+ times. However, my last experience destroyed it for me. I got my meal to go and paid before grabbing my bowls. I typically use two bowls since that is my normal amount when I eat inside. As I approached the grill I could hear the chef complaining and it sound like he was upset I grabbed two bowls. It was in Spanish to another coworker but Im fluent in Spanish. The coworker seemed to defend the argument and he went off to the back and the coworker cooked my food. When she finished she loaded it in my to go box and he returned right as it finished. Went to grab my food and leave the store but the cashier stopped me and stated she needed to grab my other items in the back (soup, eggroll, etc.) This was odd because they normally have them ready for you to grab and go. She then took my recently cooked food and took it back with her. I was very upset by this because I don't like seeing my recently cooked food going somewhere out of my site. Due to the fact the chef seemed upset and then they took my food in the back I was extremely concerned. I got home and didn't feel like touching the meal after the experience. I decided it was probably a misunderstanding on my part and decided to eat some. Well unfortunately for me I was sick later that night and the entire next day. $15 (this includes tip) for my meal and I wind up being mistreated and sick from my meal. Really bad experience. The service was absolutely horrible. The hostess was not personable, didn't smile and just carelessly placed our menus and utensils on the table, almost with contempt. The server was no better.. she wasn't dressed as a server.. if she hadn't been wearing an apron, I would have thought that she was a teenager hanging with her friends outside. She wasn't friendly, and seemed annoyed when I told her it was our first time at the restaurant and wanted to know what she recommended. She pointed out a dish and just read the description to me, just didn't seem that enthused. My boyfriend got water and I got a coke... I was expecting a charge for the coke... but WE WERE CHARGED FOR THE WATER. I mean, how cheap can you be.. Pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the buffet was. Most buffets are not. Get the thinner noodles they fill you up less so you can shovel it in more. They have a Miriad of sauces. I particularly liked the squid and shrimp with the garlic and in-house sauce. 10 dollar dinner buffet, 8.25 for lunch. They also offer single dishes. No dessert. Really cool grilling chef show. This place has gone down hill badly. The food is slightly above gross. The vegetables are old and tired with a super limited selection. The food is all over the floor, no one seems to care. The grill is what this place is all about. I have never order for the menu and frankly don't even know why they have it. As has been said the staff is very average, except for one guy on the grill he really tries to make it fun with his mini plate tricks and he is always polite. The buffet is simple, meat, noodles veggies and sauce then cook it. It's fresh, fast and very tasty and best of all I make the way I like it. My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this place based on a co worker saying how good it was. She said it was better than the popular place in ogden on washington blvd that we love. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon a little late for lunch so the place was almost completly empty. Despite the fact it wasnt busy we still had to wait a few minutes until someone greeted us, If you could call it that. She basically pointed at a booth and asked if we wanted all you can eat. We made our way to the buffett and it was obvious that the food had been sitting for some time as everything was stuck together such as the pasta noodles being a large sticky mass. Although at this point i still had hope due to the varity of offerings such as the shrimp. When I was done building my food bowl I made my way to the cooking station where once again i had to wait around 3-5 minutes for ths cook to show up. He then began to burn the food as other reviews have stated. What is going on with this place??? Dont they know how to keep the food moving while it cooks? Then it was truth time.... first bite i was instantly dissapointed it had a burnt flavor and i could tell it just wasnt fresh. Reminded me of warming up left overs in the microwave. I was half way done with my plate when finally the waitress made her way over and asked if we wanted soap and rice. We both answered yes if its included with the meal. Another disappointment as my hot and sour soup clearly had a burnt smell and tasted as if it had been heating in the pot all day. I couldnt even eat it, tasted almost sour not in the normal way. The spring roll was moderatly ok although im not sure what the dipping sauce consisted of as it tasted different than anything else ive ever had for spring rolls. Over all I was able to eat about half my main plate and left the soup and rice. My wife wasnt even able to eat more than a few bites of her meal. Normally neither one of us is this picky particularly myself as i will eat most anything, not this meal. Maybe it was a bad day for them i have no way of knowing as we will never go back. I really hope they read the reviews here at least maybe then they will quit burning the food and try to be better customer service oriented. The Mongolian Grill is a great place for lunch for the price. As the other reviewer stated it has a good selection for what you pay. It is does have a Chinese menu as well that I have not tried, as Mongolian Grill is what you should eat here. The meal comes with white and fried rice as well as an egg roll. It is nice to mix your own stir fry and sauce to go with it. The wait staff is slim so it takes time to get more rice, drink, etc. The plates are taken fairly quickly when finished though. Not sure how dinner is there, but the price goes up a few dollars I believe. read more
