Beef teriyaki was too salty and chicken katsu tasted great but the sauce was too thin and didn't match with the chicken katsu. The crab cream cheese was mostly cream cheese and was not worth the price. If you're looking for fast food, this isn't the place but if you're looking for good food, stop by Lolo's. We randomly decided that we wanted hawaiian food for dinner and we found this place open on a Sunday, a tough feat around this area. When we arrived, the place was empty, both inside and in the drive thru line but we weren't deterred. I love kalbi and bbq beef so we ended up getting two of the bbq meat combos which also came with chicken. Sides of cabbage, white rice, and macaroni salad were included with the meal. After waiting about 10 minutes at the drive thru window, our food was ready. The beef was so tender and well seasoned and the kalbi sauce had that wonderful sweetness to it that I like. The meats were the best part of the meal as the cabbage was tasteless and the macaroni salad had no flavor. Both needed at least some salt and pepper. We added spam musubi and Hawaiian Sun canned drinks to our order. We also tried the teriyaki and katsu sauces that they make in house. Lolo's has decent food and a spacious dining area. Let me preface this review by saying that I LOVE Hawaiian BBQ. So much so that I search it out everywhere I go. I am a huge fan of L&L's in West Valley and Mo' Betta Steaks in Bountiful. I soon found out that there were a ton of people because most of them were waiting on orders. To us all about 15 to 20 mins. to get our food. I'll chalk that up to being a new place. The employees were very friendly and trying hard but you could tell they were new. Once I got it, it looked pretty good, but not like any Hawaiian BBQ I have ever had. BBQ beef was in flat pieces and on top of plain rice. The Katsu Chicken was also in fried strips and also on plain rice. Chopped salad with chinese-style dressing. Hold on a sec... Katsu chicken? Wontons on the menu? All the chefs in the back are Chinese. Teriyaki, Soy sauce and chinese mustard were the choices in the condiments area. I think those of you who are quick on the uptake can see where I'm going with this. This is a Chinese restaurant that is masquerading as a Hawaiian BBQ place. No lie. Now I'm not saying that the food isn't good. It was actually pretty good. Katsu sauce was kind thin and not the right flavor, but all in all not bad. The problem is that it says Hawaiian BBQ on the sign but the food isn't. It's odd and confusing and I'm not quite sure what else to say. I personally dislike kalbi ribs because anywhere I go, they are mostly bones and fat. Someone in my party ordered these and complained that they were mostly bones and fat. Drive through spam musubis?! Yes please! Why wouldn't you love the ability to get Hawaiian favorites in a drive thru?!

Found myself in the area of this restaurant yesterday. Kids got fast food, and I just so would rather not. So, when I saw Drive Thru advertised for this place, I swerved in. I love Hawaiian food, particularly mixed plate. The menu seemed spendy until I noticed the mini plate option, which offered one meat with rice and mac salad for about ten bucks. Sweet. I got the spicy island chicken, and upgraded to green salad and mac for my sides. Honestly, by the look of the place, at least at night, I was not expecting much. I ate the side salad on the way home. It was huge for a side salad and the house dressing, a creamy sweet and tangy sesame, was stupid good. That alone held me over until today, when I pulled out the leftovers. Oh my gosh. So good. The mac salad was as good or even better than many I've had in Hawaii. Not overly dry and sticky, not soggy and wet. Sweet and creamy and so good. The spicy island chicken was mildly spicy with fabulous flavor and texture. Some Sundays, after church, I sit in the dining room, enjoying musubi and Hawaiian macaroni salad. I watch the traffic going by, choosing what I consider to be more mediocre dining options on 12th Street, and am sad because I feel like the world is missing out on something amazing. Coincidentally, I have a long time to feel this way, because one reasonably priced helping of Musubi is enormous - two gigantic rolls - and it takes a while to eat all of it. I don't know why this place gets a bad rep! First off, with all the reviews I didn't have high expectations for this place. The place was kinda inconspicuous and the inside of the place was clean but was well...eh. The service was fast and friendly. The chicken katsu was crunchy good, short ribs were tender, beef was phenom! I could go on and on about it but but long story short everything was flavorful and BOMB! Even their teriyaki sauce was on point. I could slather that in an old boot and it would still be good! And the portions were killer! For about $8 a plate but you get 3 kinds of meat AND 2 sides of Mac salad and fluffy white rice, we definitely got the better end of the deal. They were definitely heavy handed with the portions which is a definite plus in my book. All in all my experience was great! People were friendly, service was fast (keep in mind the food is made to order), and the food was great! The place itself is a little sad looking with the mismatched decor and fluorescent lights but don't let that steer you away because the food was delicious! If you're a snooty foodie who's eaten in a 5 star restaurant in the shores of Oahu and you're comparing that food to this food then Lolo is probably not the place for you, however if you're just a regular guy looking for a good place to eat and getting half a *cow on your plate then Lolo Hawaiian welcomes you! Great new Hawaiian BBQ in Ogden! Ordered the BBQ mix as it has a Lil of everything, and at $8.99 its a ton of food! All was tasty too Mac salad, standard white rice, cabbage, BBQ beef, BBQ chicken, & Kalibi short ribs! Too much for one sitting, very tasty and good fresh quality. My wife and I really like coming here, but only when we receive the buy one get one free coupons in the mail. The food is good, most of the time but not super amazing. Today when we were here my cabbage was rotten (see picture) there is a lot of potential here because this market isn't really met in Ogden, however food quality at a restaurant is vital and I lost my appetite when I saw the rotten cabbage. If they can't make sure their vegetables are still good, how can I know their meat is? As a fan of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, seeing the rotten cabbage makes me worry about the state of everything else. I also know however that with some changes any restaurant can go from subpar to exquisite. I hope that this one will be able to pull it together. I particularly like to get their kalua pork and their beef, served with rice and macaroni salad with cabbage on top. It's just good food. It's not overly extravagant or fresh like some more expensive places further south. It's more of a fast food Hawaiian place... except it's not particularly fast either. I watched this place for a while, being that the original building seemed to turn over a lot in recent years. But one day I decided to give it a try, because of the BBQ element. All I can say is that I've been here dozens of times. Not only is all of the food fresh and flavorful, but they give you really good portions. One surprising, but really awesome thing to me is how they do their "dine-in" experience. Some people might find this cheap, but I think it's brilliant, considering the fact this is not a more formal type of eatery, but a fast-food type experience: If you order your food to eat-in, they will bring it to you in to-go boxes. At first, this seemed odd the first time I stayed to eat, verses usually getting my food to go. But then I realized how amazing this concept is. Instead of asking later for to-go boxes, you just close up your lids when you're done and leave. No need to wait for anyone to get a box. Eat what you want, pack up and leave when you're done. I can easily recommend the BBQ in pulled pork, chicken or beef. And if you really want an overall experience, get the combo meals - which allows you to get 2 different kinds of meat, with rice, macaroni salad (or swap for house salad), plus steamed cabbage. I usually switch out the macaroni salad for the house salad with a side cup of their awesome black sesame seed dressing. I'd say that this place is a mix of Hawaiian, which is influenced by Japanese food, with an American twist. They also have a few Chinese dishes, too. The decor is minimal, which I think is good because it's bright and clean. But personally, I'd like to see a bit more style and Hawaiian feel added beyond the small decorations they have. But then again, some places can go overboard with too much. So all in all, it's just right. You have to get their Katsu sauce, though. What a perfectly blended spice and sweetness for adding to anything on your meal, not just meat. I pour it on the rice, too. Even the sesame seed dressing is good on rice. I've been in many times! The food is always on point! The staff is always helpful and polite. My favorite is the kuala pork and island fire chicken. And the house dressing is incredible! At times it can get a little busy, just be patient, it is worth the wait. I got the mixed plate to try a variety of the meats. The thinly sliced beef was probably my favorite followed by the teriyaki chicken. The beef spareribs was the last of the three meats in the mixed plate. The spareribs were on par with a lot of other local Hawaiian places. I just am not a fan of fatty meats and this can be a fatty meat cut. The sauce was good and the portions were generous. I'd give it a 4 star rating if I hadn't had my food expectations set by the food in Hawaii. There's just ingredients that are difficult to get here in Utah verses what's in Hawaii.
