Their takeout comes in sturdy plastic containers... thumbs up for that!
J M S.

For all the positive reviews and "hype" about The Smoked Taco, I have to say that I was left underwhelmed and disappointed. I ordered two of The OG's, The Bang Bang, chips and queso, and a side of the smoked corn elote (which ended up being the best part of the meal). Due to hearing that you hardly get any sauce in their tacos, I opted for requesting additional sauce on all 3 tacos. BIG mistake! Do NOT do that unless you want your tacos soggy and drenched upon arrival. The Bang Bang only had 3 tiny shrimp pieces in the whole taco! It was 98% pico de gallo and 2% soggy corn tortilla. I paid a small additional fee for guacamole and the guac was good...ended up pairing it with my chips and queso since the queso was inedible. The Bang Bang also had absolutely no spice like I'd heard. No ZING! Extremely disappointing. Upon biting into the first OG I started crunching on something very cinnamon tasting. There was a churro fry in my taco though I didn't request any churro fries or anything cinnamon with my order for that matter. I had taken photos of my meal upon arrival and sure enough, found the culprit! There was absolutely no teriyaki taste either though I stupidly had requested extra teriyaki sauce (which they just drench on your taco at their discretion; you don't receive sauce on the side here). Pulled the second OG apart and found the pork all rolled in one scoop at the bottom with once again, just pico and sauce and an awful tasting soggy corn tortilla. The chips were definitely crispy and fresh. However, the queso was the worst I've ever had! And I mean, EVER. It was beyond bland. Could have been cardboard and I wouldn't have known the difference other than it did have a thick and rich consistency. The smoked corn elote is an excellent portion size for the cost and was by far my favorite! All the ingredients really blend well together when stirred up and I appreciated it wasn't oversaturated with just canned corn. The fried onions and limes with the shredded cheese definitely stole the show! I really wanted to try the Surf 'N Turf but they were out of steak at this particular location which was a disappointment. However, maybe not... I'm on the fence if I'll be back. Side note... their takeout containers are the best that I've encountered anywhere! Sturdy and an excellent way for the tacos to remain separated during transport. They were so impressive I had a hard time not reusing them recycling for the future but I'm in the process of downsizing.

Came here to try it since its recently opened and it was great! When we walked in the cashier was very helpful and helped us understand how everything worked since it was our first time. We wanted to order the loaded queso but turns out they didn't have any more tortilla chips. That's was a bit disappointing but he recommended us try them with fries and it didn't disappoint. The food is cooked to order and came out fairly quick , hot and tasty. We did have one discrepancy with our food but the manager resolved it exceeding our expectations. When we brought it to the concern or the order taker he emphasized and apologize and got his manager. Overall experience was great! Bathrooms are clean. They have an abundance of cholula and all different flavors. Diversity in table seating options from regular tables to high tops. We ordered loaded queso with fries, hot chick taco and surf.

We tried three of their tacos and a side and we have mixed reviews of what we tried. The Bang Bang taco and Smoked Elote sides were standouts. The Bang Bang taco had a great sauce that was spicy and really worked with the shrimp and guac. The Smoked Elote was by far the best thing on the tray. The mix ins of candied jalapeño and crispy-fried onions hit the sweet and savory. The Smoked Pastor was "okay." Nothing special and basically pulled pork with cilantro and onions. It needed a sauce and is kind of misleading labeled as al Pastor. The Hot Chick was a non-plus. A chicken finger drizzled with honey (no heat at all) and a few peppers. The chicken was really dry. The service was good, and the restaurant was mostly clean after a busy lunch. Some of the prep/service areas where you get your food need to be wiped a little more but hey, they're still new. There's a fountain of Coke products and a fridge with Mexican Coke products. Condiments consist of Chalula, Tampico, and a couple flavors of Tabasco . A taco shop should have some salsas, not just hot sauce. Take out or dine in. Be prepared for the "tip shame" at the POS when you order.

Barbacoa is amazing!

This is great! Found this on Yelp, was really intrigued by the pictures and comments and man i did not disappoint! Beautiful place when you walk in but then here comes trouble....so many great things on the menu so how to choose ... Food came fast, super helpful crew, and the flavors did not disappoint Highly recommend!

The Gringo Smoked Corn Elote

This place was honestly a one and done. Me and my family came to try it due to the interesting combination of barbecue and tacos. I got the the gringo and the fleeing Californian with a side of the elote. The service was okay the tables were all dirty and barely any of them clean. The food was not good to be honest if it wasn't for being extremely hungry I wouldn't have ate it. The tri tip on the gringo tasted like aluminum like burnt. No, it was not the taste from the smoke. It also had no flavor and was just very greasy and oily. Same with the californian and the elote. No flavor and the meat tasted old. The price for it wasn't very justified either. Definitely wouldn't go back again.

First visit to this new place. We found it very interesting and unique. We tried one of their special tacos, surf and turf. Very good! This is a nice place with adequate seating for many. You order, pay, and wait for them to call your number. Eat in or take out. They have a very nice selection of unique taco combinations as well as several sides. Nice place and we will go back.

Thin crispy chips and guac.

New Smoked Taco opened today in Riverdale, Ogden Utah. Yummmmm!!! I had the Corn-I-vore taco!! Sooo good. Corn is roasted to perfection and flavor was amazing. My husband had The Bird and loved it. The chips are light and thin and Chrissy. The guac is full of big chunks of Avacado. Perfection! Come check this fun, busy place out. Soooo good!

Delightful. When I go to Utah, this is what I expect to experience; chatty blonde people slightly dressed up (at least for this atmosphere. it was a Sunday) that share their favorite taco combos and recommendations. I found these two that I decided on, to compliment each other nicely. The Fleeing Californian reminded me of my Chipotle order and the one on the right was surprisingly sweet with the carrots and sauce, but countered with the flavors of the meat and lime. Both incredibly fresh and good value. If you're overwhelmed by the choices along Riverdale Rd, you can't go wrong at The Smoked Taco.

There were a perfect size... they felt a little bigger than street tacos but not overbearing. I also dipped them in the green salsa that comes with the chips and damn, that salsa is good. My partner got 3 birria enchiladas smothered in red sauce and the flavors were all there. The only thing we should have done differently was ordered all 3 meats in the enchiladas. It was impossible to choose a favorite meat option. The rice was cooked to perfection and fluffy. And the beans were the perfect consistency. The server was incredibly sweet and attentive. The music was a perfect playlist of Spanish hip hop and pop. Idk what the lyrics mean but they are probably telling their friends how good this place The decor is so badass! I also love the ambiance of the place and how it is like a hidden gem. Cannot wait to go back!

A birthday surprise I'll never forget!…read more This restaurant came highly recommended by a former employee, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From the moment we sat down, everything impressed us. I tried a mezcal cocktail for the first time, the blueberry mezcal, and it was incredibly unique, smoky, slightly sweet, and just overall delicious. For food, we ordered the corn, poblano tamales, and the chorizo steak burrito. Every bite was packed with flavor. Portions were generous, so much so that we ended up taking leftovers home (always a good sign!). But the true highlight of the evening? The birthday celebration. Our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything, and I casually mentioned a birthday at the end of the month. She smiled and said, "Leave the rest to me." I had no idea what was coming... Suddenly, the entire bar lit up? iterally. Flames shot up like a volcano erupting, the staff came out with fire, bubbles, and this incredible energy. It felt like a full-on performance. Then came a rich chocolate cake soaked in liqueur that was just as dramatic as it was delicious. It wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. If you're looking for amazing food, creative drinks, and unforgettable celebrations, this place delivers on all of it. We'll definately be back.

For a second I wondered if they were closed, but someone eventually came out and seated me. That initial vibe had me a bit concerned, but I stuck it out. I started with the chips, corn, and guacamole, which was decent, nothing mind-blowing but fresh enough and got the job done. The Cadillac Margarita ($20) was a disappointment though. It was basically a glass of ice with way too much lime juice dominating everything; I could barely taste the tequila. The Michelada was better, solid and refreshing, and the service was about the same: friendly and attentive enough once they got going, but nothing standout. But holy smokes, that asada stuffed burrito saved the whole meal. The asada was ridiculously tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Juicy, smoky, melt-in-your-mouth beef wrapped in a solid burrito. That one item alone made me glad I came. Overall, the place has some hits and misses. If the asada is what you're after, it's worth it. Just maybe skip the Cadillac marg and don't expect a lively atmosphere on a slow night. I'd go back for the burrito.

Buche is pork belly, slow-cooked until it becomes this tender, savory magic that somehow tastes like comfort and rebellion at the same time. Chila's nails it. The buche taco hit me with that rich, juicy flavor that says "yeah, I took all day to cook... and you're welcome." The pollo burrito was a heavyweight champion. Warm tortilla, grilled just right, stuffed with rice, chicken, melted cheese, and that perfect messy harmony only real Mexican food can pull off. Every bite felt like a small celebration. I had to pause halfway, look at my plate, and think, "Sí, esto es vida." What I love is how the flavors stay true to classic Mexican cooking. Nothing watered down. Nothing pretending. Just real food, real sabor, real heart. If you go, squeeze the limes. Trust me. It wakes the whole plate up like a pep talk in citrus form.
