I didn't even have time to snap a pic--that's how good the food was! While the selection was smaller than your typical buffet, everything tasted noticeably fresher, which made up for it. The coffee cake was a standout--so fresh, soft, and smooth, it seriously tasted homemade. I went back for seconds! It was nice to sit down in a restaurant for a bit and eat. I wish the food was fresher though. My lo mein was hard...because it had been sitting under the heating lamp for a while, I was disappointed in that. The same goes for my breaded shrimp. They were warm on the outside and cold on the inside. The dumplings were dry and the honey shrimp was good, but it wasn't great. I think if I go again, which we might as it's close to where my husband can park his rig, we will have them cook the noodles fresh from the noodle bar and ask the sushi's chef to make our rolls fresh too. It's worth what you pay for it. Not everything was old. Some food options were fresh, so I think timing is important when coming as well. Also, the servers are not exactly helpful. The restaurant is in a very convenient location. My colleague and I were seated right away. They had all of the items I typically look for at these venues. The peel & eat shrimp were medium size, cold over ice and were tasty with the cocktail sauce on the side. The eggrolls were OK, not great. They also had a nice tangy spicy shrimp hot dish which went well over my rice noodles. They also had small clams which were also very good. They kept the food trays full at all times. Decent prices and fresh Chinese food! I ordered takeout with their (3) entrees plus (1) side along with a side of (2) vegetable spring rolls. The spring rolls are very small in size but tasted fresh and good nonetheless. The entrees that I ordered were sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, and their seafood special. The seafood was VERY fresh and included plenty of raw shrimp with a few crab pieces. Appreciate that none of it was fried! The sweet and sour chicken was a bit hard and more than likely had been under the "heat lamp" for far too long. The beef and broccoli had equal amounts of each and also was very tasty. The side I chose with my entrees was the vegetable lo mein. It also was very fresh and flavorful. When ordering takeout or through a food app, the sweet and sour chicken will arrive bare with two sweet and sour cups to pour on the chicken. Also received one Chinese mustard (per my request) though I would've loved more than just half a cup. Soy sauce, duck sauce, utensils, and napkins included. Very impressed with the reasonable pricing and decent portions given. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting as it was very "filling". I went for the salt and pepper shrimp and sweet plantains, they were good. The sushi was not good at all. It was an hour before closing time and a lot of the food trays were empty. They were not making new food. I ate the last three sweet plantains. The employees are very friendly. They provided a pair of disposable gloves at the entrance for each person. Nastiest food I ever ate the rest is filthy and nasty. The french fries that my daughter got and I gotten was ice cold. There was a hockey pucks. I tried to speak to a manager and was told there was not one there then I had to call back and speak to the owner, and she told me that she couldn't do refundes and I told her how I paid and I told her you have cameras pulled them and she has got to tell me that the cameras don't work wow what a joke is that and then I went in there and she still wouldn't even let me show her what was called or not she doesn't care about her food. A friend and I ate here today, and it was pretty good. We both ate our fill, and are both vegetarian. This was the second time we have eaten here, and ultimately came back for the steamed buns, which they unfortunately didn't have today. We still enjoyed our meal and may be back in the future for more. My favorites are the veggie spring rolls and the steamed buns, but there are other foods I enjoyed while I was there. I thought this was better than any other Asian Buffett in the area. I mean it is a Buffett so you can't expect 4+ star food. I didn't really look at the tile or the carpet so it could have been gross. I did like their egg rolls, green beans, and this fried chicken coconut strips. It is just good food but nothing knocked my socks off. When I do a review I take into consideration the restaurant type and I'm not going to compare this to a normal sit down Asian restaurant. I thought overall it was good. I do have a concern when they take a glass from a table or from another table. I hope my same cup comes back. Kind of disgusting if you think about it too hard. The service was lacking for us as well. I ran out of water and several others ran out of drinks. I think they could do a lot better in service to make up for their other faults. I have been going to this buffet for a long time until City Buffet in Roy, Utah opened up. Asian Buffet has very few selection. They only have one fish type in the menu. Same for the rice. They put in very little effort to maintain that place. The place looks somewhat dark inside. In the past, we had to wait in the line to get in on Saturday. However, I visited last Saturday for a dinner buffet and it was pretty empty. That tells me that City Buffet in Roy is taking over the business. You won't regret going to City Buffet in Roy. This buffet has been my family's go-to place for over a decade. They've always got good food, and have always had a good opinion of this place until today. You'd think that a place as busy as this would keep up on the things that customers come in contact with. By, that, I mean the carpet in the dining area. I get it. As some of the previous reviews have stated, this isn't the best or cleanest Chinese restaurant, but there are a few items worth coming here for. I didn't come with high expectations but surprisingly enjoyed some of the dishes. Some worth mentioning are the crab rangoons, beef broccoli, honey shrimp and ice cream is pretty good too. I disliked that they place the larger groups in their back area which tends to get crowded and tight and hot and hard to move around :/ but all in all you get what you pay for, maybe a little more bang for your buck here. When they gave my wife and I refills on our soft drinks, our server took our glasses and asked what we were drinking, and then went to the NEXT table and took THEIR glasses for refills at the same time! HELLO! I really don't want to be drinking out of a stranger's glass. If they use such poor sanitary practices right in front of us, who knows what's going on behind closed doors in the kitchen. My company decided to reward its employees by going to this establishment. When we passed the food bar, I noticed flies swarming on some of the items. My colleagues partook of the orange chicken, which I found to taste like the diseased embryo of a pig. I stuck to the Rice Krispy treats, and found them to be the more tolerable of the items in the food bar. The kung pow chicken tasted more of dung than pow. While it is true that I have a western palate, I'll tell you one thing my friends... I forgot what I was going to say. I'm sure it wasn't important. I guess I was hoping for a pleasant thought. Overall, it was a disappointment. I'm lucky that I didn't get scurvy and some other kinds of oriental sicknesses passed on by stowaways on the Santa Maria that founded this restaurant. My family have eaten here before, we previously liked it but it has been several years since we have eaten here. When we moved back my husband was excited to go back. So to start with some positives. The white rice and egg rolls were good. My husband is the most tolerant person I know when my it comes to restaurants, and even he wouldn't eat most of the food. Yay! Finally found a great buffet in the SLC area... We went here on Sunday (12/19/10). We got there right after they opened, so everything was hot and fresh. There was a very good selection of Sushi, Traditional dishes, fruit, salad, appetizers, etc. I normally do not eat Sushi on a buffet....EVER!, but I watched the Sushi chef prepare it and it was delish! The servers are not the friendliest, but I'll take that to get good eggrolls. Edit:: We went back again and had the BEST server...I wish I could remember his name, but my hubs and I both have asian tattoos and it was nice to hear from someone who really knows...their true meaning (YES...no surprises...the tattoos are what we thought they were!!!) I just moved to Clearfield and I really like chinese buffets like this. The food is usually more authentic and you can get a few things like dumplings that aren't usually on the menu unless you are at a buffet. And there is the added bonus of having a few other Asian non-chinese dishes. This particular place has a hibachi so you can get whatever you like cooked for you on the spot. They also have sushi which seems to be a new fad. Cleanliness is a serious issue that can make or break a place like this. I was not dissapointed. The place was kept very clean, we even felt comfortable trying the sushi. The place was pretty busy when we went which might account for the apparent absense of service. They were very busy turning over tables and I we had to wait a while to get drink refills as well as the bill. This was a little disappointing but it's a buffet so not a deal breaker, what do you need the waiter for anyway. read more
