I just moved to Clearfield and I really like chinese buffets like this. The food is usually more authentic and you can get a few things like dumplings that aren't usually on the menu unless you are at a buffet. And there is the added bonus of having a few other Asian non-chinese dishes. This particular place has a hibachi so you can get whatever you like cooked for you on the spot. They also have sushi which seems to be a new fad. Cleanliness is a serious issue that can make or break a place like this. I was not dissapointed. The place was kept very clean, we even felt comfortable trying the sushi. The place was pretty busy when we went which might account for the apparent absense of service. They were very busy turning over tables and I we had to wait a while to get drink refills as well as the bill. Generally I am not a fan of asian food but my husband loves it beyond reason. He started going to the Asian Buffet for lunch fairly often because I wouldn't go with him for dinner. Finally about a year ago I went because that was where he wanted to go for his birthday. I fell in love with the place. The variety of dishes is wonderful. The quality of the dishes is delicious. The service is great. The have huge muscles cooked with a sauce and cheese that my husband loves. He also loves the mongolian BBQ grill where he can select the items he wants grilled. I love the Indian Chicken, very spicy and the chicken in it is delicious. I also love the Sweet & Sour Chicken, it's lightly breaded and the chicken isn't fatty or icky. I love all the shrimp! I would not recommend. after seeing a thread on Facebook about how the place had changes and was so good we decided to ignore the reviews and try it. As soon as you walk in there is just the smell of a raw fish that hits you the food was sub par and not very tasty. The Mongolian had beef and chicken that was dethawed sitting out. The prices are great and they do military discount. Also, its a great family atmosphere. They are also really quick about removing your plates from the table to make room for more, which is important if you bring a bunch of boys!! Haha! The food was cold, the orange chicken- it wasn't even chicken the only thing I thought was okay was the dessert, most things were under seasoned. Service was pretty bad, our waiter only came once or twice. The chicken was over all terrible. Over all do not recommend at all! I would never come back not even for free! To say this was the worst place I've ever eaten wouldn't be far off. The run down nature of everything's for a bit leery, but then the tasteless food was bad. Ugh. I've driven by this place dozens of times on my way to Sam's. First time stopping here - but I thought I'd compare it to the Hibachi Buffet, and my review of last week. It wasn't as good. Old, run-down, constricted space for getting around. (The restroom had a towel wrapped around one sink trap, & a plasic bag around the other - which kind of illustrated how the whole place "feels" to me.). I love going to this place! they have a great selection of food! Overall great food! However, some staff is not so nice, I asked for something on the Mongolian grill & the person was very rude and said "well if you don't like it you can go home" & when we told the owner, he just brushed it off and didn't even take my comment seriously! We've been here twice now. Both times a little wary but nevertheless hungry and needed food. The cleanliness definitely leaves something to be desired. OR maybe its just the lighting and the old old carpet. They were vaccuuming when we were there. With a Shark even! But it still gave off that "I'm an old dirty building" feel. The dishes have their ups and downs. I had some mushroom thing that was actually quite good. It was in a garlicky sauce, not too greasy, not too sweet, not too spicy. Decent. The husband found an Indian Chicken dish that was spicy and had great flavor. He loved it. Some of the dishes had definitely been sitting too long and some just had no flavor. We watched one of the employees prepare a fresh California roll so we decided we could trust it and I ate probably 3 rolls worth. Best part of the meal fo sho. I do wish they had had more of a variety though. The beef and broccoli is usually a favorite of mine, but it was just too ugh here to enjoy much. The broccoli was limp and the beef was chewy. Plenty of options for a picky 3 year old that only wanted watermelon and rice. They had a small salad bar, a large offering of fresh fruits, puddings and jello. A good sized dessert bar, though i was disappointed that they didn't have an ice cream machine. They just had little cartons of individual serving ice cream that was alright but not great. I don't know what it is about buffets similar to this, but they always have the BEST ice cream. More of an ice milk than a cream. But oh so yummy. Too bad they didn't have it though. I'd probably stick to going here when the food is definitely more fresh and not an hour before closing, but we didn't get food poisioning either. I thought I had done a review on this before but I don't see it so I need to reiterate how much I enjoy it. The food is always fresh and after three times they knew me by face, lol. I always order the same sushi rolls four times and now when I go in they bring me my sushi rolls before I even order. If you don't like California rolls ask the sushi chef if he can make you what you want they have all the sushi fish there, he will make it for you. Karen is my fav server! She plays with my little girl and everyone that works there will drop what they are doing to take plates or get you a refill. Got here @ 5pm , had to wait a little to get a table for 2, not a big deal for that time. When we finally got seated, we ended up in the back room and we were literally stuck in the corner. The food is really good at this place but the cleanliness and staff are just ok. The staff are not very friendly and the restaurant seems to need a makeover. I feel like they are more interested getting your money than making sure you have had a good experience. I think the girl who works the register can swipe a debit card faster than she can make you feel welcome. I only go here maybe twice a year just for the food. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY GOING TO THIS DISGUSTING PLACE! We went on a Friday night at 9 PM, and they did not close until 10:30 PM. However, because it was late, the manager decided not to refill any food pans that emptied. This left a lot of empty pans and the pans that were filled had very old food that obviously had been sitting out for hours. The food was mostly cold, it was hard, and it tasted horrible! On top of that, they had the Mongolian bbq turned off for the night. We had to ask for soy sauce, which was a fun test all by itself since the waitress did not speak English. The other waitress had took all of them off of the table to refill as part of her closing list - a full 1 1/2 hours BEFORE closing time! They were sweeping, vacuuming, and making all kinds of noise. Basically treating us like we were a nuisance, and we were not the only table there. Then, the most awesome part....... I watched a mouse run across the floor! Right from under the buffet to the kitchen! That was when we decided we were completely done, even though we were still hungry. I guess I should not have been surprised seeing how dirty and gross the restaurant is. When we went up to pay, I tried speaking to the manager about all of the things above. I was very respectful to him and he was extremely rude to me. He told me the non refilled food and cold, old food didn't matter because there was other food available. The bbq being closed was the same. And at this time he pointed out he watched us take food to our table. Then when I pointed out he charged an adult price for our 10 year old, he laughed and said "I know your daughter not 10." Um, well of course my daughter is not 10! I wouldn't let my 10 year old wear make up and carry an iphone! My daughter is 17! I pointed out my son is the 10 year old. He then called me a liar, told me my son is too tall to be 10. I pointed at my almost 6'6" tall husband and said ya, this is his dad. He told me again I lie. I told him that given all of the issues I feel our meal should be free, but I would be willing to settle for half. He told me no. I told him I would never come back and I would leave negative feedback where I can - he said he doesn't care. If you notice, most of the higher marks for this place are from at least a few years ago. This used to be a fairly decent place to eat, but I had not been here for over 7 years. I don't usually like eating at Buffets, but I've been to this place more times than I can count. It's not the cleanest as far as the tables and chairs go. Just don't look at the legs of the chairs or under the tables. The food tastes great, the servers don't speak English very well, but it's called Asian Buffet for a reason. Some of the dishes aren't good at all, but there's plenty that is. I love the Walnut Shrimp and the Rice Noodles. It could still use a serious cleaning. Horrible. Arrived at 8:30, they said they close at 10. The whole staff sat eating a bunch of food and vacuuming while we watched. Everything was completely empty except for two items that tasted like they had sat under the lamp all day. None of the staff was working or refilling anything. I love buffets, especially Asian food ones, but when I went around 4 today, I was subjected to some of the most awful food and had to wonder how they could even have the audacity to serve some of the food that I saw and ate there.
