Went back yet again to try their delicious Unagi (eel) Sashimi and of course, my beloved Build Your Own Poke Bowl. The Eel Sashimi was out of this world delicious! Comes with two pieces but I easily could have ate twelve. It was THAT good! The perfect combination of rich and sweet without either flavor being stronger than the other. I have definitely found my new favorite fish. So my next venture I'm planning to try the Unagi (eel) poke bowl all by it's lonesome. My recent "Build Your Own Poke Bowl" (three scoop fish)l, I added on lemon slices and the fresh lemon really brought out all the flavors of the fish and the rest of the dish. Definitely worth the small additional fee just like their Masago (fish eggs). I had made a suggestion that they should add "crunchies" as an "add-on", and much to my surprise, Sushi Burrito added those on top without charging me extra. You can definitely tell that the owner's here really care about their customers and their satisfaction with every dish, which unfortunately is not found in all restaurants today. I cannot thank Sushi Burrito in Layton enough for generous portions, fresh fish, and customer service that is priceless. Highly recommend to everyone! read more

Y'all it can't get better then this! I love sushi because if it's flavor and lightness. But I love burritos because of how thick and big filling they are. They literally mix the two together. You get your favorite sushi roll in the size of a burrito!! Service was fast! Food was fresh and flavorful! Ate the whole burrito and actually felt full, light and satisfied! DO NOT GO HERE!! Absolute WORST experience in customer service. My friend ordered food for work associates here several days this week. Yesterday when walking out with order, tripped over some twine that had been left in parking lot & injured herself. As she was on the ground (crying & hurting too much to get up), a worker came out. Didn't ask if she was ok or needed help, just hurried & cleaned up the twine & disposed of it. Another customer ended up helping my friend. Today she went into the restaurant to request security footage, because doctor wanted to see how she fell, to know what kind of injury she might have--and they PRETENDED to not speak English (they spoke with her just fine other days this week)!! read more

My wife and I are in the area 2 or 3 times a week and we finally stopped in last night for a quick bite and I'm glad we did! We ordered a poke bowl, a wildcats burrito, and a typhoon. As an added bonus they threw in some jalapeño bombs. We were nervous about the lettuce in the burritos, but took the risk in the name of experience. Everything was made to order and flavors were perfectly balanced. The food and service were fantastic! The location is a bit awkward compared to the many options on Antelope Drive, but I would DEFINITELY drive past all of those bigger chain options to get here again! read more

It had been a year or two since my first check-in at this place. I really liked the sushi burrito I got on my first visit, though I can't remember which one it was. This place was good enough though, that when I returned to the area, I remembered it and wanted to stop in. This time, I got a poke bowl because I needed something to fit in my nutritional goals. It was the most beautiful poke bowl I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot of them). I got tuna and salmon. It came with rice and seaweed salad, plus a couple of the free toppings I picked out. I was a little disappointed that fish eggs and avocado were extra, along with several other toppings. But it was so good and beautiful that I didn't end up minding. Man, I'm soooo disappointed! Today for lunch I wanted to try the Poke Isle restaurant for some ramen, come to find out it's just part of Sushi Burrito. Since I don't care for sushi burritos I opted for the ramen. No flavor broth, dried fried onions floating around, slices of fat (pork) but yea mostly fat, I couldn't eat the meat. The hard boil egg was quite hard (overcooked) noodles a bit dry. and I paid $10.00 for it, I think that was 9.50 too much. Well. I did it again. I was too hungry and forgot to take pictures. No worries, we will be back. We got the poke bowls with triple meat and all the goodies. The house sauce is great! I'd highly recommend getting it on your poke bowl. They also have tons of sushi burritos which is what we will definitely get next time! They had so many that sounded delicious and I couldn't decide so I had to do the poke bowl instead. All ingredients tasted fresh and the amount of each in the bowl were perfectly balanced too! We also got potstickers, miso soup, and the fried cheese wontons! I wish the wontons had been bigger. They give you 8 but I would've taken 5 if they were larger! Still good but much smaller than expected. Potstickers were good but they didn't come with any sauce so make sure you get some on side for dipping. Sushi Burrito was one of my all time favorite places to go when being stationed at Hill AFB. It's literally not even five minutes from South Gate and the food is always delicious! My go to sushi burritos were the Citrus burrito or the Vegas burrito. It's literally a huge to go sushi roll for an incredible price. If you're in the area go visit! So I drive by this place pretty often since I work pretty close to this place. Never had the chance to really sat down and give this place a try until recently. What attracted me was the new sign that was displaying "Ramen" now being served. Guess what we tried?? Ramen!!! The restaurant is pretty standard for a quick bite to eat type of place that reminds you of a fast food restaurant. In fact, it has about 10-11 tables with seatings from 4 to 6 chairs per table. Like most fast food places, you order, pay for it, and the waiter/waitress bring it out to you. We ordered 2 bowls of Tonkotsu Ramen with a side dish of their mixed salad which includes, seaweed salad, crab salad and kimchi/squid salad. Let's just say, I've had better Tonkotsu Ramen elsewhere. The soup base is too plain for my taste since I've eaten at many Ramen noodle places from Ogden to Salt Lake City. The best Ramen Tonkotsu has always been from SoCal in the Mitsuwa Japanese Town market place in Torrance, CA. I'll have to try their "sushi burrito" next time, but since I've literally cut rice out of my diet, it's going to be a while! read more

I was looking for a snack, so the veggie eggrolls and fried cream cheese wontons (no crab) worked. However, I'm going to have to revisit because I wasn't impressed. I ate in, but food came to me in a to go bag in Styrofoam containers. Veggie eggrolls were so "veggie" they didn't stay together for the last 2 bites. Cream cheese wontons appeared to be homemade but after the 5th piece, I was over it. Asked about Volcano Roll and the cashier didn't understand my question. (Language barrier.) I tried my first sushi burrito (Citrus) here and will definitely be back! It was like a handheld poke bowl, and the ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. The one thing I'd change was the lemon slice- it was odd to bite into an entire slice, rind included, and I love lemons. This is a nice sushi burrito/Poke bowl store located near the Air Force Base. I ordered the Citrus Salmon burrito, which was mostly pleasant. I thought the inclusion of a lemon slice in it (especially the peel) was a bit pungent and overpowered the other flavors. But the rest of the ingredients such as the salmon and spring mix were fresh and tasty. I would come back again! First time visit. Upon my request, the order taker suggested the favorites, which were fried options. I wasn't expecting this when I choose this place, so I passed. Although I enjoy the small raw sushi rolls, I wasn't sure about biting into a bunch of raw meat, burrito style. So I opted for the #5 Sushi Bomb (grilled salmon, carrot, cabbage, bacon, lettuce, tomato). It took about 8minutes to receive myI order. It tasted like a well seasoned crunchy salmon BLT. I added Sriracha to it and it was so good! The salmon was grilled perfectly, not dry at all. It was super messy but in the best way. The seaweed wrap was nice and thin, not chewy at all. It was a large burrito that could easily be two small meals. I will definitely return to try different options. The only perceived negative was that the female taking the orders had minimal customer service skills (i.e., showing no emotion whatsoever). I felt uneasy about what the food would be like but honestly it was just a giant sushi roll lol and it was good. First the people were courteous and helpful, eager to satisfy any misgivings I might have had and second, not everything is deep fried. I got the citrus roll, it's not a large roll but a typical burrito size you'd buy from the grocery store. However, with that being said size is deceiving. I was only able to eat half! I got full already. It's actually "heavy" due to the amount of rice but it's not overly ricey either. The amount of rice to the other ingredients were perfect actually. This particular "burrito" was a bit refreshing due to the lemon slices in it and they were so thin (with the rind still attached) that it was okay eating it, not bitter at all. But the Spousal Unit and I have reached the point that we should begin to explore a bit, so .......... Panic sets in when you step up to order and watch the person behind the counter to wrap a sushi burrito that is the size of my forearm. Surprisingly they are not all that large. An interesting take on sushi, for sure. Combine (or blow up) a traditional sushi roll in to a burrito. I tried the Hamachi. Good quality fish and a decent amount inside the burrito. For $10 I expected less fish and more rice but was rewarded with more fish, more rice, and more fixin's. The rice was cooked well as were the other ingredients but I found the wrap to be tough and chewy, almost hard to bite through. It is messy to eat. Definitely not road food and the seaweed wrap falls apart about the third bite in. Not a huge issue but don't plan on eating this while you ride in a car. Be prepared to use a fork, Chopstix, or your little nubbins to pick up the pieces that fall out. read more

My wife and I have been anticipating trying Sushi Burrito for quite some time, and then we heard we would be getting one right here in Layton! We decided we would wait to try the new one coming to our town. They opened this location Friday, April 8, and we tried them the next day. My wife is a sushi fanatic, and lately has been struggling to find the perfect place as her "go-to sushi restaurant." Well this is it now! She tried the Shrimp Lover's (Spicy) roll, and loved it! She was worried it would be too spicy, but it was actually perfect. It tasted very fresh and best of all was how much sushi you get for the money! For $9 at most sushi bars, you'd get one roll of sushi, with maybe 6-10 small pieces of sushi. Here, you get a whole burrito! I had the California Sumo, which I enjoyed very much. Everything is better fried, so I went with a tempura burrito. And I wasn't disappointed! The extra crunch made it all the better. The only negatives about this place - We also ordered cream cheese wontons, and I wasn't expecting them to be incredible or anything, but they were very hard and didn't have much flavor. We also only got 6, when it said we would get 8 on the menu. This Sushi Burrito was in the process of opening up for several months, and sushi fans in the area were very excited for it. They first announced they would open in March, then the date kept getting pushed back. Finally, they opened April 8th. But I don't think they were quite ready.. On one side of the restaurant was an unfinished area with some miscellaneous restaurant things, an unassembed drink machine, kitchen materials, boxes, etc. It didn't look so good. Glad they opened, due to popular demand, but it seems they could have used an extra week or two. Very happy overall with Sushi Burrito, and most of all, to have one right in my town! I fell in love with sushi burrito at the 8th south location in salt lake. But now they have one in Layton which is the best thing to come down this side of Utah! Its right down the road from my house and never fails to help my sushi craving. Its located off Hillfield road right across from china hill. I usually call 10 minutes ahead of time so its an in and out stop. I order the wildcat roll which is always satisfying, Im sure the rest of them are just as good. The prices are fair about $10 for each roll. The sizes are large they are actually burrito size. Also they have a punch card system so after 10 I believe you get one free. read more
