I've been curious about LoLo Hawaiian BBQ every since it opened. I especially was curious about their macaroni salad and trying it. Well.... I went with their Two Meat Mix and requested Island Fire Chicken and Hawaiian BBQ beef. I forwent the rice and fresh mixed salad side and opted for two macaroni salad scoops (the second one being at an additional fee). I also requested Spicy Mayo and Katsu Sauce as the two included side sauce choices. First, the best part. The Island Fire Chicken was spiced perfectly (very spicy) and also was very tender chicken. The grilled onions mixed in really brought it all together. A 10 out of a 10! The Hawaiian BBQ Beef was absolutely delicious as well. Very tender cuts of beef on a bed of cabbage that really was only about three pieces. The cabbage was absolutely delicious and I wish there was more or a way to forgo one of the sides for just a side of the cabbage alone. It REALLY was THAT GOOD! I also appreciated that the Hawaiian BBQ Beef showed up naked without being drenched in sauce so I could really taste the flavor of the beef and enjoy each bite. For those curious, with the Two Meat Mix the Island Fire Chicken comes in at 6 oz with the Hawaiian BBQ Beef at 5 oz. Not quite sure on portion sizes for the other offerings. Ok, now the worst part (and the one that I was looking most forward to). The macaroni salad was anything BUT creamy! It was the absolute worst macaroni salad that I've ever tasted. There was no flavor. No spice. Not even a hint of mayonnaise flavoring. It might as well been cardboard. I've honestly tasted plain macaroni boiling in a pot with more flavor! I have absolutely no idea if this is typical of this restaurant but it will definitely keep me hesitant on going back there unless they offer a cabbage side or something else. I eat a lot of Sushi, so I definitely don't need a rice side. In regards to fresh mixed salads, I've found them to be major disappoints in regards to restaurants and fast food, etc. but I cannot speak for this place as I haven't tried one. Alas, the side sauces were both filled to the brim. The Spicy Mayo definitely was thick and consistent flavor wise. Katsu also has a thicker consistency with more sweet than spicy flavors. Both were great though. The portion sizes were decent for the price and the meat is definitely worth a visit if nothing else! Just stay away from the macaroni salad unless you prefer absolutely no flavor. read more

Delicious Hawaiian food here. This location is conveniently located near Roy Gate of Hill AFB in a small plaza. There's plenty of free parking spots in the plaza and the sign is large enough to see from quite a distance. The interior was spacious and clean as well. Some food I got to try here are: 1. Spam Musubi. This came with 2 musubis. It was good, but I felt like the rice to spam ratio was a little off. It was 75% rice, 25% spam. 2. Mini Meal- Teriyaki Chicken with rice, bed of cabbage underneath, and macaroni salad. 3. Mini Meal- Hawaiian BBQ Beef with rice, bed of cabbage underneath, and macaroni salad. The mini meals were a really good sized portion for one person. Both mini meals were cooked well and had a lot of flavor to them. You do get an option between white rice or brown rice. You can also get more sauce on the side if you'd like. I got an extra teriyaki sauce on the side but realized I didn't need to use it since it already had good seasoning and flavoring to the entrees. Stopped here on our road trip. Pleasantly surprised- I had the Katsu mini meal and my daughter had the teriyaki chicken mini meal she subbed with brown rice and house salad with house dressing. I also subbed out the macaroni salad for the green salad and used the house dressing. It was very tasty and our bill with a drink was about $23. Friendly cashier and she was extremely helpful. EXCELLENT Hawaiian BBQ in an area in desperate need of good food options. This is location #2. I've been waiting for them to open and, after eating there, see that the owners/management did it the right way. There's seating inside for ~50 people, not to big and not too small. Order at the counter, food comes out to your table. Drinks are serve yourself as are condiments. Not wanting to come inside? Yes, there is a drive through. Now, lets get to the important stuff.... the FOOD. I love LoLo for the plate lunch. Tons of different protein options served with two scoops of sticky rice and a scoop of mac. Both sides are always delicious and you cannot go wrong with any of the proteins, either. My favorite is the Katsu Chicken (think panko crusted chicken) in the Katsu sauce (a sweet, tangy sauce). If you are feeling bold, try the curries. Here's the thing. Come hungry. If you eat the plate lunch you are going to need some down time for a nap shortly after. And at a price point under $10, you cannot go wrong. Feeling a little less hungry? Had a nice drive through and line went by fast. I usually got the smaller plates of katsu because it would fill me up and I would not be too full. They also have spam musubis here too. There's no shortage of delicious hawaiian fare nearby. This place is another great option if you're in the area. We ordered the bbq and katsu plate plus the loco moco. Everything was delicious and tasty. I particularly liked their katsu compared to other places. On the flipside, I enjoyed their loco moco but I would say that there are better in the area. The gravy was a lighter gravy here and I prefer the really dark, salty, brown gravy. Yum, I'm practically drooling as I reminisce about all of the tasty bites. Not bad at all. And I'm thrilled they have a drive thru! First time trying and I am not disppointed. The person taking order was nice and accommodating. Understand that it is BBQ and that some of the items take a minute to cook when in the drive thru.. I dig this place Went for another round yesterday. I can tell their teriyaki sauce is not made authentic like Hawaii style using Aloha shoyu. Can't taste the hint of ginger or garlic and the meat (chicken or kalbi) doesn't seem to be marinated in the sauce b4 cooking. My friend and I were on a 16 hr road trip and Ogden was just en route of lunch time for us. From the pictures and menu, this place seems very legit and I was beyond excited to get my food. I've ordered from these guys several times through DoorDash, and the food has always been stellar, in fact, craveable. The meats are always tender, the rice is spectacular, and my absolute favorite is their Mac Salad. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it. And also, if you actually go in, they have sauces on tap and don't care how much you take. Great staff, everyone is super nice. It's just really, really good food. Edit: Last time I ordered from these guys, they forgot my second order of Mac Salad. I called them, and they were awesome and put me on a list to replace it for our next order, which I placed tonight. And they sent it out tonight and it was delicious. This place is far from authentic. First I ask the lady if I can get 2 pieces of spam added on to my plate. She says no I can't, but the closest thing to that would be the Spam Musubi which she pronounced wrong. I kept asking if I could add spam but the answer was no. In Hawai'i, it is very common to add spam to a plate. Another thing is all of their sauces are from a Chinese manufacturer. All of the sauces in Hawai'i are homemade or at least Hawaiian brand. I give this place an overall 5 stars. This was our first going and the food was delicious! The portions are huge. The reg plates are enough to feed at least 2-3 people. The cashier was very nice and explained certain items well. When we got our food I had asked one of the cashier for some plates and she said she'd be right back, and never brought us any. This is my first visit so I can't say much about all of the menu items. I did give a try to the Chicken Katsu/Kalua Pork combo plate. I do have to admit that there was quite a bit of both on the plate. Could use a second scoop of rice with it. The macaroni salad is what is usually expected. The katsu was done right, the Kalua Pork was a bit dry and could stand a bit more smoke in the flavor. Gladly the pork wasn't mixed with cabbage. Not a bad place, decent actually. First time here & went through the drive through. Appreciated the employees welcoming attitude. He was very helpful with explaining a couple of dishes & their Hawaiian Punch. Once at the window he was still happy to serve & repeated back the ordered. He offered additional sauces & recommended the sriracha sauce. What was the best surprise was the food!! Bbq chicken is seriously lip smacking delicious & the pork was so tender & full of flavor. What blew my mind was the Katsu chicken, for being breaded, it was so tender and I couldn't get enough of the katsu sauce. I've never been a fan of macaroni salad but I couldn't get enough. This place was amazing! My friend and I tried ordering through online on a Sunday. Online wasn't working (kept forcing us to order for next day), we called to let them know, we told them we would call back when we knew what we wanted to order, guy ended up calling us back to let us know what was going on with the online ordering which I appreciated and also we were ready to order out food. We drove over to pick up out food and it was ready a few minutes after getting there. Nice to see the lobby finally open here. I was hoping for a repeat of the Ogden restaurant, which tends to do the various musubi options excellently (I don't even bother with other items on the menu there). Unfortunately, I got both a very sedate pace for them to bring the food, questionable drink selection (kind of comes with the territory in the various Hawaiian places, I'm thinking), and musubi that was not even in the realm of the Ogden location. Add in a some curious and borderline overbearing touches by the counter staff and this was a pretty substantial disappointment. I appreciate effort, but it can be overdone to the point of obnoxiousness, which is kind of where this was heading.
