Best custard pie ever. I've heard about lee's bakery and know they always have long lines during thanksgiving for their pies. I haven't tried their pastries and only their custard pie. Their custard pie is so creamy, it's almost like a flan! It's perfect and not too sweet. I'd say best custard pie on island. Parking can be difficult since it's Chinatown. I got dropped off and called in my order before coming in so the pie was ready and warm! They are open everyday 6am - 3pm.

I don't come here quite as often as I'd want to, but for the past 5 or so years, I've been blessed to get their Pumpkin Custard pie during Thanksgiving. It is the absolute best. Everything from the filling to the crust is just perfect (and I'm really picky about the crust). I wish this was something they carried throughout the year because I do feel it would be a good seller. But oh well, it's an excuse to go and try their many other pies.

It's been a while since I've been to Lee's Bakery, due to my work schedule. With Memorial Day weekend coming up, I felt like doing something different. So today, I made time to pick up some treats for the office. I got there a few minutes before their 6 am opening. Three others were already waiting outside. Just around 6, the lights came on and a gentleman opened the doors to let us in. I let the others go first so I'd have a little more time to decide what to order. I kept it simple--6 char siu manapua, 6 Hong Kong buns, and 2 long johns. The manapua went into one box, and the buns and long johns in another. Same great service I remember. When I got to the office, I had a manapua and a bun. I thought the manapua would be the highlight--and yes, it was very good--but I really enjoyed the buttery Hong Kong bun. I left the opened boxes for the rest of the staff, after messaging them, and they were emptied before long--a sign that others enjoyed them almost as much as I did.

Highly recommend Custard Pie. Currently $26 (price has increased) Lee's Bakery located in Chinatown, N. King Street, Near Open Market. Owner (wife) is always pleasant and friendly. A really nice person. Besides pies, there are pastries, donuts, hong Kong bun, sponge cake. Very fresh. I normally order a lot, since I hardly get a chance to go to Chinatown often. Owner (wife) provides a free recycle brown bag, very nice of her! I appreciate it. Open daily. Highly recommend.

Came here for our favorite Hong Kong buns! they are fresh and fluffy, the center has a thin buttery sugary delicious filling. After I paid for my box of Hong Kong buns, I noticed they brought out a pan full of their famous custard pies, and was told it just came out the oven and is hot! ah!!! I totally scored! so of course I bought a pie too! it was my first time tasting their famous custard pie, it isn't too sweet and the custard is smooth and rich. The custard pie is worth all the rave, and if you haven't tried their Hong Kong buns, you need to try it immediately!

Stopped by Lee's Bakery & Kitchen in Chinatown and now I totally get why it's a local favorite. This place is a hidden gem! I came in for the pies (which have a reputation of their own), but ended up walking out with way more than I planned--and no regrets. The custard pie is *next level*--smooth, creamy, just the right amount of sweetness, and the crust? Buttery and flaky perfection. It's the kind of pie that reminds you of something grandma would make if she had a secret recipe and decades of experience. I also tried the coconut and pumpkin pies--both amazing, not too sweet, and full of flavor. On top of that, they have a great selection of savory Chinese dishes and baked goods. The staff is friendly, and even though the shop is small, it's packed with goodness. Prices are super reasonable, too. Whether you're craving something sweet or want to grab a quick, delicious bite in Chinatown, Lee's is definitely worth the stop. Just be warned--once you try the custard pie! U might be addicted

Lee's Bakery is legendary for their custard pies, which are some of the best in town. Their pies are so popular that they often sell out quickly, and you need to pre-order well in advance. Just a heads-up, they're now closed during Thanksgiving week, so plan accordingly if you're hoping to get one for the holidays!

We should have known better that if you come after lunch the shelves will be pretty empty. Just so happened we had dim sum next door and once we saw their sign we wanted to see if they had any custard pies. The sweet and friendly employee behind the counter said call and order, hand motioning with her closed fist to her ear, smiling at us. We'll know better next time.

Stopped by in the afternoon and they had limited selection, which is good as that means that they've had a lot of customers and people enjoy their baked goods. I had a coconut roll which was outstanding and very yummy.

I guess the Ghost Yelp started 2024 taking away my review I believe that I had on Lee's Bakery in Chinatown. Today I was walking around Chinatown and decided to pick up their famous custard pie for dessert tonight . Got there about 11am and yes they still had a few more pies left . I remembered at Lee's bakery their custard pie is more on the eggy side meaning you can taste more egg than sweet custard . It's depends on the person what kind of custard you prefer . I'll definitely buy Lee's pies time to time but definitely I'm not the person to go and wait for hours and hours before thanksgiving LOL!! Support local

Located in downtown Honolulu this humble bakeshop offers pastries but the most popular ones is the custard pie! Haven't tried 'em yet but will try next time if I am in the area. Anyhow, for today's quick grub: tuna bun & Chinese custard bun. All good especially the custard bun. The tuna bun though, both much. Tuna filling is way too dry. I will come back next year.

I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. Right now they have a seasonal donut called Black Sabbath that's black sesame, brûléed banana. Every time I've been in, I'm greeted right away, and there's plenty of free parking. They get your order out super quick. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! My usual chocolate old fashioned was particularly good here... is that a hint of coconut oil? Or did I just have a little Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen on my fingers before I ate? No one knows. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that this place is a cool little donut shop that made me feel like a local when I walked in. Service with a smile, regular ol' donut prices instead of weird designer pastry mark-ups, and plenty of Aloha. Worth the trouble of trying to find parking, but even better if you're on foot, and can walk off that little bit of sweetness.

We now see a For lease sign on one of the greatest Donut shops there is! This dedicated, friendly, consistent owner, his wife, and child was a great honor to have met in my lifetime. I and my fellow colleagues frequent this perfectly hidden Gem buying dozens of Donuts for the team these past 6 years. Prior to that I would visit this shop on my own going to and returning from work as a daily regime. This place was very much loved by everyone you passed by in and out of this business. Donuts, Bear claws, Cinnamon rolls and so much more. Such a sad sad loss that this family owned business is no longer with us. I can personally say for 10 longs years , Mr Donut you satisfied my sugar cravings and I will never forget you. Where ever you are, God Bless you.

Mr. Donuts is your more classic donut shop, but that doesn't take away from what they offer which is goodness in each bite, my favorites are the oreo white frosting one, the claw and the fritter, but nearly all of them have great taste. You can follow them on Instagram and order through messaging, pay with PayPal or Venmo and let him know when you will be there (park on the street, he will tell you where) and they come and bring them to you. Excellent service, price ($20 for a dozen), and taste there's a reason why I come from Kaneohe to grab my Donuts .

The butterfish was delicious-perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved their potato mac salad. The rice and corn complemented the meal well. The guava plantation iced tea was lightly sweetened. I'm happy to see a local business thriving but I hope they can improve their customer flow. The baked goods looked as inviting as always but they seemed a day-old or something. The butter horn was hard and not flaky as I've come to expect and the chocolate of the Boston Creme donut wasn't creamy. They may wish to consider: 1, Clearly delineating the line for the restaurant from the bakery. It was super busy for both so there was a lot of confusion. 2. Perhaps placing the number machine for the bakery closer to the door? Tourists aren't familiar with the system so it leads to some unnecessary dissatisfaction. 3. The staff had to leave the counter to get coffee - hot or iced. The condiments for the coffee were on the showcase so people had to be in everyone's way to get their sugar and cream. In fact, if you were standing near the door you had to go through people waiting in line back into the establishment to get those items. But, with all this, the two ladies at the counter were remarkably composed and helpful.
