At first I wasn't sure if I should trust all these Yelp reviews, but when I called and talked to Spencer, he seemed extremely helpful, so I went for it. Up until then, I had been working with some incompetent and overpriced mechanics down the road, who wanted me to replace my charcoal canister (a $750 repair) but couldn't give me any clear answer as to what was wrong with it. (It was super sketchy, but I digress.) Anyway, I came here for a second opinion, and I coughed up the cash for a diagnostic. In the end, I did have to replace the canister, but Spencer told me definitively what was wrong with it, and he charged me hundreds of dollars less than the other place. Even after the cost of a diagnostic, I still saved a load of money by going to him. I only needed this repair because I wanted to pass smog, so I really didn't want to drop a ton of cash on it. Super glad to save those Benjamins. A few days later I came back here for the smog check itself, and I passed it in minutes. Love it. I mentioned offhand to Spencer that I wanted to get struts done, but I said that I couldn't afford it, (again quoting the other place's price.) Spencer scoffed and immediately said that it should cost half that price. I know where I'll come if I decide to get those done. I'm from out of town, so I didn't have "my guy" for car repairs yet. I have been coming here for smog checks since I can remember. Been over 10 years for sure. Before that I would bounce around from spot to spot, but this place is the best. Very fast, affordable and most importantly honest. They take good care of you and your needs. Good hearts and good vibes. My car has failed in the past and he charges the majority of the bill for the testing about 41 something and when you come back he charges you the remainder,, which is like 8 dollars if it passes. Make sure you take care of whatever you need to do before you come back to get your car to pass. You tube videos are helpful to save a buck and avoid going to a mechanic if you can (sometimes you have to go to one though). Whatever you do, do not go to the dealer unless you have coverage from them. They will rip you off. I went to them when I thought I needed a full cycle, turns out I needed a battery and they ran the full cycle, the total was $500! Later on I found out that a cycle can be completed by simply driving. Anyway, current total is $49 something for the smog check. They are the best. One last thing if your car is not ready to pass, he will not pass you. Again he is honest and fair. read more

Let's see, I know approximately 000.00% about cars so I know I'm easy prey for car mechanics. This place is the BEST though. Hands down. 1. Water pump broken. Place in Fullerton gave me a quote for 400. They did it for less than 200. Great job, car felt great immediately after. 2. Today I took my car in for an oil change to the usual spot I go to near my office in Tustin. They are incredibly well reviewed on yelp and their pricing for an oil change is fair, so I go there for the convenience of being able to drop it off before work. They told me my rear left brake was shot and that it would be $620 bucks and take 3 hours. I laughed. I then drove my butt to long beach and they did it for $175 bucks in 1.5 hours. This place is GREAT!!! I went to ANOTHER place and they told me I would have to spend close to one thousand dollars to fix my AC system, but Pak (an older Asian gentleman) told me (at least in my specific case) that it was just a bad relay and the repair was much much cheaper and simpler. Less than $200! I have always come here for oil changes but I'll take my car here for repairs from now on. If you stick around he will show you the problem and the diagnostic steps he is taking to find the issue. Very knowledgeable. It's been a month and my AC is working like new! Being new to the area I was nervous about where to take my car when it started making a new noise. I started my search on yelp and after calling the first couple places and being told it would be over a week for them to even look at it I called Lee's. Spencer answered and told me to bring it right in. Do not let the lack of decor deter you, it's an auto shop after all. So my experience twice was not good at all. First time as someone that never got a smog check I wasn't fully sure how to certify, but i figured a respectable repair shop that's "Smog Certified" I would be in good hands. Nope. Show up first thing the morning to blaring music and no one in the shop. Finally 5 minutes later Spencer walks in almost annoyed. I told him I needed a smog check. Goes to my car walks backs. "Get your car checked I can't do smog until fixed and then drive 100 miles and come see me". Ok so I went to Tom automotive which they were super helpful and looked for trouble codes and fixed what they saw as an issue. Came back after driving 100 Miles. Walk in and it's the same guy. Give him the keys and about 10 minutes later walks back in and goes "Did you have work done recently" I say yes to his recommendation. Made me feel stupid for not getting the extra errors that the smog check caught. Told me get these fixed, without any guidance or help on we're to go. Charged me which is standard, but come to find out the fixes are strictly for SMOG CERTIFIED LOCATIONS (had to find out from a trusted repair shop). So...wasn't this place a smog certified repair shop? Absolutely awful service will never come back again. Makes sense both times I came through there was literally ZERO customers. read more
