I've been coming to Lee's for over 10 years (since before it expanded to the awesome spot it is now) and in the past, I have really loved this salon. One of the main things I really like about this place, is that they never try and multi-task two clients at one time - until yesterday.
In my opinion, when I am coming in to pay for a pedicure, I'm not just paying for the finished product, but I'm paying for the experience. I want a relaxing experience - that's what the $53 pedicure is for. It's not just to walk out with pretty, painted toe nails. Otherwise, I'd never pay that much.
I'd been looking forward to this pedicure all week, and when we arrived, things were going well. We were greeted at the door, seated promptly, and the technicians were friendly.
My first issue is my friend and I asked for the exact same pedicure. Her technician used a foot file on her, and mine used a block. When I asked about the difference and requested the foot file, my technician told me no. Huh? Why not? She said I did not need it, but in my opinion I did, so why not just do what would make the client happy? Weird.
Next, a larger group came in, and I guess it was my technician's responsibility to start a manicure on one of the people who came in. So, she started rushing through my pedicure, grabbed some towels to put on my legs (which weren't warm from the start), and ran off to start a little girl's manicure.
After 10 minutes, and tired of having cold, wet towels on my legs, I took the towels off, pulled my pant legs back down, and just sat there talking to my friend while her pedicure continued. When the woman overseeing the salon noticed me, she sent the original technician back to me, who seemed stressed. I was told repeatedly that they had no choice, the little girl had to have her nails done, but aren't I a paying customer too? I don't understand why it should matter to me that someone else had come in.
The floor manager stated it was her fault, she had pulled the technician in too many directions, and she discounted my pedicure. But, I felt awkward the rest of the time I was there while the stressed technician finished my pedicure, and I'm not sure I'd go back.
I think I'll be hunting for a new salon. read more
