Decided to try this place out today and it was delicious!! You really get your money's worth here and everything is fresh! Not to mention, their selection of homemade dressings all sounded really tasty! Will definitely come back here to try other things on the menu as well as building my own bowl read more

Just tried L&G's seasonal Hill Country Summer salad - gotta say its my new favorite. I don't normally associate peaches with salad, but would highly recommend. Heard they also import the peaches from a farm just North of the Hill Country - which I thought was super cool. read more

If you want a quick, healthy meal with delicious, high-quality ingredients-this is the place to go. Every item on the menu is phenomenal. They have a great variety of salads and grain bowls with options for people with dietary restrictions. I always like to make my own custom bowl though, and pick out my ingredients. The service is super fast, and the employees are always friendly and kind. Everyone should check this place out! read more

Ooo believe the hype. Best salad bowl place. Way better than sweetgreen and the likes. I got the oasis bowl and it was delicious. Staff is friendly and I like that they ask you the level of dressing. read more

I absolutely loved this place! We were lucky to show up on their second birthday. We were offered donuts by one of the handsome creator/owner and he gave us the best advice of what to order. My Cluck Berry was the bestest ever salad that I have had!! My beautiful daughter ordered the Loredo which was equally delicious!!! We will definitely be back . Sorry to have missed the party and Rose. read more

Leaf & Grain - Happy Birthday - Salad Near Me - Houston, Texas

Absolutely love this place! I eat here whenever I am in the vicinity. This place has the most fresh ingredients and great combinations of menu items. The line is long, but moves fast. With the volume they do, I still get individual treatment and I do not feel rushed. I hope they open a second location and start selling their Beyoncé shirt. read more

Great lunch place located on the mall downtown. The best cheap salad spot for work lunch. The kale here is baby soft hearty kale- not the tough giant kind cut into bits. Multiple add in options. All ingredients taste fresh. Got the MFH Veggie Boost with steak. I love how the dressing was light, tangy, and flavorful. Quality packed bowl of salad. There's seating outside in the mall or you can take to go. Can be packed during lunch hour but line goes fast. read more

Leaf and Grain blew my mind. Their salads are clearly made from the freshest ingredients and their staff is out of this world. You'd be remiss to not check this place out if you like quality, healthy food on the go. Side note: they always play some pretty awesome Talking Heads tracks. That fires me up before I dig into my favorite meal of the day. read more

Ordered catering for the first championship - impeccable service and food- and on time! A real delight!

This group clearly cares and thinks a lot about how each ingredient will effect the final dish. I had the 44 Farms Steak Salad which was refreshingly balanced with sweet pickled onions cutting through the heavier avocado (that I added) and blue cheese. The bacon added a nice crunch alongside the romaine and the steak was truly delicious and well cooked! I had high expectations for this new restaurant and it exceeded on every level. A side note on the horseradish vinaigrette which I was unsure about having (who puts horseradish in a vinaigrette?) and was planning to substitute out with the lemon shallot vinaigrette. The staff surprised me by suggesting I sample their dressings like you do at a bar trying new craft beers. Turns out the horseradish vinaigrette dressing was awesome! I thought it was cool they are proud to be providing fresh and novel flavors for their customers and eager to help you try them. Looking forward to more locations! read more

Becks Prime used to run an add campaign saying "the finer side of fast." This is a term I think should equally apply to leaf and grain. It is a salad you think should come from the Coronado Club in three minutes in an eco friendly disposable container. I recommend the common table. Their dressing selections allow you to mix it up and have fun. read more

OMG I found vegan food in a mall! This place is literally a hidden gem. I was attending a conference at the convention center and needed a nearby vegan friendly options. I was pleasantly surprised by Leaf & Grain. It is located on the third floor of the mall. The space is small but has modern decor. I decided to order the vegan grain bowl, which was amazing. It comes with tofu and you can add avocado (extra fee). Unfortunately they were out of avocado when I was there but the manager/owner explained the situation. Also the manager/owner questioned why I was taking photos, which I explained. Afterwards he provided me some information about the bowl. The food was great (not your typical mall food) and the price was on point. read more

This is the best place downtown when you're craving a delicious lunch you can feel good about! Leaf & Grain uses high quality ingredients, delicious homemade dressings and they keep their menu fresh by adding new seasonal combinations. It's obvious they spend a good amount of time creating and taste testing their menu so I always order from the board but you always have the option to customize your own bowl. The hardest thing about this pandemic has been missing my L&G fix! read more

Just opened on Weslayan in the Specs/Berings shopping center. Outstanding salads and great service (food made in a salad line while you wait). Not your typical afterthought salads but a great variety of complex & healthy ones. Fresh and bright decor and easy take out if you prefer. Beer and wine license soon to come. read more

I use to work here, so I know for a fact that the owners work their asses off to produce and develop the highest quality food. Now that I have a big girl job, I went back incognito and got the Veggie Boost which was wonderful (*insert pretends to be shocked meme*). This is a great place to eat especially if you have food sensitivities, like me. My only qualm with this place is that the owners are SUPER intense so it may not be a great place to look for employment if you are a zen or mellow individual. read more

If you've ever been to True Food Kitchen in Houston, this place is a Chipotle style version of it at a great price. My first time coming here, I got greeted by who I assume to either be the manager or the owner and he happily explained everything on the menu to me. I'm a meat eater, but there are a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. Everything is locally sourced and high attention to ingredient quality. My first time I tried the Common Table: brown rice, kale, brussel sprouts, almonds, apples, goat cheese with a very light honey white balsamic vinaigrette. I was recommended this since it was their most sold item, and I can see why. Great balance of flavors and very light but filling lunch. You can ask for light, medium, or heavy dressing. I chose light with some on the side, which was perfect to add more as I saw fit. Second time around I tried their Blue Sky: arugula, brown rice, avocado, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, and chicken. This one was definitely lighter than the common table, but just as filling. The green goddess dressing was a creamy green sauce that paired well with the rest of the ingredients. For people watching macros, this place is terrific. You're able to hit your macros (proteins/carbs/fat) if you're on a cut or maintaining. Also, they load it the bowls with a lot of veggies to hit micros as well as capitalizing on volume. Volume is what fills you up without indulging in too many heavy carbs or proteins and this place nailed it. Their options of how much dressing is also a terrific way to limit fat content in the meal as well. I recommend getting light dressing with extra on the side to add more as you like. read more

Leaf & Grain has an amazing selection of salads and grain bowls. Their seasonal bowls are pretty spectacular as well. You can't go wrong with their Common Table grain bowl! read more

Quick, friendly and healthy option. Just what Houston needed! I would recommend the Thai-rannosaurus Rex, the the apex predator version of the Happy Thai-ger (steak instead of tofu). The steak is sourced from a local farm and was incredible! Added plus is the cute owner, Deets. Pretty chatty so I would recommend asking him questions if he's around ;) read more

I've since been back and portion sizes have consistently been much larger and practically filled to the brim.

I am a committed L&G customer since the beginning. Not only is it healthy, but delicious every single time. There are so many salad & grain bowls I would recommend because they are all great! I was a loyal Salata customer until L&G came along. The chicken thighs are always warm in my bowls. I really wish new locations would pop up (Galleria, City West Place). Thank you for keeping me healthy and getting me into eating salads every day. read more

Finally a fast/ healthy/ fresh option in downtown Houston. Good vibes. Moved from Southern California recently and have been missing my healthy lunch spots. Houston hasn't had anything like that. This is the first place I've found in Houston that fits the lunch options I've been looking for. I'd recommend the Mediterranean with salmon- new fave! read more

I hosted an event in the Houston area and was looking for a restaurant with a diverse menu. I don't know how I stumbled upon L&G, but I'm glad I did. They answered all my question about food restrictions and substitutions, made ordering and delivery a breeze, and the food was super tasty. Portions were on point too; just enough and no wasted food. Additionally Stephanie was very helpful and patient when it came to invoicing and updating totals. A+. Look forward to working with them again. read more

This is a GREAT new addition to the shops. The only two healthy places for a long time were Salata and Freshii and you can only eat there so many times. The ingredients here are really fresh (they even chop the egg in front of you for the Cobb salad). I will definitely be making this a regular place in my lunch rotation. But I do have two really small recommendations: 1. Put nutrition information on your website. As someone with a pretty restricted diet, it would be so helpful to have all of this information at my disposal instead of having to ask about every new thing I want to try. Especially since this is all about healthy eating, I think all patrons would appreciate this! 2. And way less important... When you wait in line and make your salad at the storefront, they mix it up with the dressing and everything is so perfectly distributed. But when you order a salad to go, they put all of the toppings on top so you can see what has been added. This is a really pretty presentation, but it makes mixing your salad really hard! So I would recommend either offering the option to mix the salad at the store (though that would take some extra time) or put the to go salads in a slightly larger container. Overall, I am excited to go back!! read more

Limited protein options. Nice salad and I live nearby. If they added a grilled steak option, they would see me 3 times as often. Why the red meat discrimination?? Guess I am still looking for that 'great" salad place. I thought I had found it. :-( read more

This is my absolute favorite lunch place. I work in the offices above the Park Shops and only eat out one time per week and always always pick Leaf & Grain even though there are tons of other restaurants. Every thing I've ever ordered from Leaf & Grain is yummy and fresh and delicious. I order online so I can just pick it up without waiting because sometimes the lines are out the door but even if you have to wait, it's worth it. Employees are amazing - the menu is seasonal so when it changed recently, I popped in to ask for recommendations and got so much advice and attention. I can't say enough good things. My only hesitation in writing this is it's so busy already, I don't want them to get overwhelmed with popularity and lose their good quality ingredients and combinations. But the more the merrier and I have faith they'll keep up their awesomeness! read more

Leaf & Grain - Salad Near Me - Houston, Texas

Leaf & Grain has really managed to make healthy food exciting and tasty. The owners clearly care about customer satisfaction, which I love. I eat lunch here every time I get the chance and I always notice the owner himself standing in line engaging with customers. Employees also truly care about customers. I swear they know the name of every single customer that regularly comes in. They even remember your regular order! I would honestly choose Leaf & Grain over Salata any day for this reason. I love supporting local businesses like Leaf and Grain because, as I have already explained, they care and the quality of their ingredients is far superior to businesses. Their meat is amazing. The tofu is non-GMO, the chicken is antibiotic free and the steak is from 44 farms. My favorite protein option is definitely their citrus shrimp. I try to eat mostly pescatarian and it is often hard to find restaurants that cater to my dietary habits. Leaf & Grain has options for everyone. The most important note that I have is about the salad dressings. They make all of their dressings in house and it really shows. Each dressing is perfectly paired with its corresponding salad or grain bowl. They are constantly tweaking their dressing recipes to make sure they are the best that they possibly can. It is such an amazing place. It's no wonder the line is always out the door! (But don't worry, the longest I have waited was 12 minutes, even when I was at the very end of the line) read more

Leaf & Grain - The line is always long, but the wait time isn't as bad as you would think! - Salad Near Me - Houston, Texas

Very, Very Good (especially for being open just 7 days). We have so few options in Houston that don't make you feel sad to eat healthy. Some salads are just sad. Really Really Sad. This was an exception for sure. I had the Up-Beet Bowl. It was excellent, my only improvement would have been a bit more flavor in the dressing. My coworker joined me and had the Common Table. Her only note was the kale was in giant pieces (I agreed, it was larger than bite sized). Veges were nice and fresh. And you can see them all as you order. (to verify freshness). I don't think you will be disappointed. We didn't but they told us we can order online and then just pick up super easy. Keep it up! :) read more

Leaf & Grain is a true gem in the heart of H-Town serving some outstanding food. The quality of ingredients at L&G is a true testament to how much the staff cares about their customers. The ingredients are always extremely fresh and delicious. The salads at L&G will truly change your life. I have never been a person to enjoy eating salads and I find myself eating Leaf & Grain multiple times a week now. When you take your first bite of the incredibly flavor-full salad, you will nearly forget that you are eating healthy. The food is just incredible. The menu at L&G is incredibly varied and can fulfill any desires. The seasonal rotation of the menu also allows L&G's incredibly talented chef to experiment with the menu. These seasonal salads are some of my favorites on the menu. The customer service at L&G is always top notch as well. Everyone working at the restaurant always seems extremely happy and are always there to greet you with a smile. The bottom line is if you have not tried one of L&G's many offerings, you are missing out! read more

fresh salad options, the service was a little slow. The inside was clean. It was pretty good overall.

I avoided this place for months because I didn't want to become attached to another healthy food option that was doomed to fail. First of all, it's in a corner that didn't previously have much foot traffic. Second , it's "another salad place " . Lucky for me this place went viral and business has been good . I ordered a pre-configured salad because my brain was fried and the last thing I wanted to do was make a bunch of ingredient decisions . The produce was fresh , the service was fast and friendly. Now what I know this place will probably stick around , I will certainly return read more

GREAT concept, execution needs work (and they know this), thus the 3-star. Sought this place out as a healthy lunch option while in town on business. My personal philosophy of cooking is to make healthy, nutritious, satisfying food that tastes amazing, so when I read their description and the reviews online, I went out of my way to try it. The owner, Deets, was sitting outside, chatting w/patrons and trying to help explain the process. It's not over complex, but could be presented in an easier to understand fashion, which Deets acknowledged when we chatted. Staff are all very friendly, and all the ingredients were fresh. I ordered the Up-Beet, and wanted to add avocado, which was a premium add-on, so skipped it. I added garbonzos, and after I did that, they told me there was an added fee for them as well. So, if you want to mix/match, go for the build your own, otherwise, adding goodies to the menu-ed items can add up quickly. If I lived near the area, I'd definitely give it another go. read more

Our office was so excited for a healthy lunch place in walking distance. I think we ordered lunch here three times the first week it opened. The employees are SO friendly. It's a bit pricey, especially if you want to build your own, but it's easy to substitute items. There are many ingredients to choose from, all good quality. I do wish the steak wasn't cooked so "well," but I understand lots of people get freaked out by undercooked meat. The last time we came here, my boss ordered the Mediterranean bowl for take out and they forgot his olives - his favorite part! He didn't realize it until we got back to the office. Nevertheless, we will continue to come here because delicious healthy food is hard to come by around here! read more

I work on the opposite side of downtown, but I make the trek here 3 days a week. I do it because there is not another place downtown that can match the quality of Leaf & Grain. The variety on their menu provides healthy options for the full spectrum of diets and appetites. It's very tasty as well. I've easily come here over 100 times, but today is the day I am writing a review. Today, all of Houston is flooding. Understandably, over half of their staff needed to go home for the day. Of course, that didn't stop the daily line of customers from forming outside their door. Their next door neighbor; commercial giant, Starbucks had shut down operations for the day. Not L&G. The few staff that stayed behind made sure every customer was served. Not an ounce of quality was sacrificed. Thank you very much to the Leaf & Grain team for delivering, time after time. read more

I would probably go here every day if I lived in Houston. Similar to Salata but cleaner eating as they offer meats that are antibiotic free etc. I am vegan so I can really only comment on the green stuff but it was delicious- I never use dressing but followed the advice from another review and tried some this time.. wow! When we were done eating a nearby employee noticed and sprang to his feet (during his lunch break) to throw away our trash. That's the kind of customer service I wish I saw more often!! Wish I knew his name. I'm very impressed! read more

Once in a blue moon you walk into a business and the love, care and attention to detail is obvious everywhere you look. Leaf & Grain is that business! Today, I had the 44Farms Steak Salad made with arugula added avocado and chose the horseradish vinaigrette... what? Horseradish vinaigrette? You would think horseradish and vinegar would be clash of the titans but the balance was absolute perfection with the perfect zest... I am not exaggerating, I could probably drink the stuff... anyway I had the opportunity to speak with owner Deets, and expressed my fondness of the dressing and he told me it was his mothers recipe. You can tell this guy cares about what he's doing, but more importantly cares about his customers and giving them the best experience possible. This isn't just another salad joint folks, this is special... if you've never thought you could actually crave a salad you have not yet tried Leaf & Grain!!! Go today!!!! read more

I've been purchasing salads from Leaf and Grain several times a week, every week for the past year and a half. It's really nice to have a healthy dining option in the Park Shops. It's my go-to lunch spot. They deliver a quality product. The salads and grain bowls are large and filling. The menu is creative and everything is very fresh. I just tried their catering service for the first time a few weeks ago. Murray took great care of me and couldn't have made the ordering process any easier. She was very detailed and made sure the order was perfect when I picked up. I was able to send her an email with all of our orders and she made sure each salad was labeled with the recipient's name. They offer sandwiches for catering orders which I'd like to try sometime. I highly recommend Leaf and Grain for both individual and group orders. It is healthy, fast and fresh. read more

Was intrigued, as the line is always long. I went to their website and reviewed the options. You can actually order ahead and skip the line, but I wanted to watch the dish as it was being prepared. I had decided I would try the Common Table. As I watched the dish coming together my mouth began to water. Especially when generous portions of Brussels sprouts, apples and chicken were added to a bed of kale. Goat cheese and almonds brought the dish full circle. The white balsamic dressing was tossed into the salad - making sure every morsel was coated! I'm a fan! read more
