a bowl of food and a bottle of water

Huge portions. Ordered the bowl and loved it! Enough for two meals. I got the chicken and actually enjoyed it. I don't usually like chicken but decided I'd try it so I could fill up and get some portion. Veggies were cooked perfectly and rice was tasty. Can't wait to go back!

Great veggie bowl special!

It's the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed yet excited for what's to come. The food is nothing short of exceptional. We ordered Lamb chops and shank special today. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, with fresh ingredients and flavors that are both vibrant and comforting. You can truly taste the authenticity in every bite--whether it's the perfectly seasoned meats, the rich sauces, or the beautifully balanced sides. What really elevates the experience, though, is the service. The staff are attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and taken care of without ever being overbearing. Athena's isn't just a place to eat--it's an experience. Whether you're going for a casual meal or a special occasion, it delivers on every level. I'll definitely be coming back Peter Johnmariadoss & Family.

Driving…read morefrom Montrose, that's quite a reach but once I looked this place up on yelp and google it was clear we must try. Thankfully, my friend had called ahead and asked for a table as we were rolling about 7 folks deep, and we were seated instantly. The place is pretty nondescript located in the same shopping strip as a gas station. They serve your standard Greek fare, but they also get creative and serve things a different way. For instance, we ordered the Greek fajitas, which was pieces of gyro meat with bell peppers, and onions served on a hot sizzling plate. It was very similar to going somewhere and ordering a Gyro plate, but I appreciated the way it was served. The meat was tender and so well seasoned. In my opinion it's hard to get Gyros right, it's easy to dry it out, and often it's too salty. That's not the case here! Around the table people ordered a slew of diverse dishes, and the clear winner was the lamb shank! Next time we go we're getting that. The person who owns this place is incredibly sweet, there was a birthday party at the table next to us, and she came by to us, introduced herself, and explained that when they drop plates to celebrate we are to join in, and yell Opa! Love that some places still do this, it's a cute tradition! Can't wait to go through more of the menu and try again, next time I'm up for a trek!

All 3 meals were really flavorful, good quality, really well-seasoned, very juicy and so delicious. The gyros and burger are without question imo the best in TX. Ekko's and Nick The Greek are 2nd n 3rd for Greek food for me. I always got the gyros sandwich as opposed to the plate before which is odd bc I always prefer meat plates over sandwich form in other foods like bbq, steak, etc. The meat pieces were all really tasty and had some slight char to them too. The taziki sauce is always cold, creamy in feel and refreshing with a good yogurt aroma to it. It's a great bonus and the gyros didn't even need it tbh. The tomatoes were nicely refreshing and the exotic, cool center dolma is always a little treat with meals here. The rice and chunky lemon potatoes with my meals were always mild but still great in texture and prep. As I said before; from my experiences in every single Greek cafe, if the taziki sauce is good, the gyros will be too. It's a solid symptom and indicator imo. As for the burger, very rarely are burger places only in TX actually any good for the past 15 years. So many are just average or below lacking seasoning or a great overall flavor. Niko Niko's, Goode Company Hamburgers and TX Hamburger Palace are my top 3 in that order for it. Each different too. The brioche buns were just the right thickness and very soft to make the beef patty stick out well. The patty was so nice in charbroiled taste, saltiness, richness, beefiness and tender in every bite. A good burger doesn't need much in toppings, but cool, refreshing, tomatoes are a must for me and pickles add some tangy crunch too. For steak rare, but for a burger medium to medium rare. I had never seen or heard of their Greek Spaghetti n Meat Sauce before. This was like a Greek Bolognese with a lot of love in its flavor. The noodles were drained, very moist and so soft. I don't like too much cheese, so I took some off, but still like some. The meat sauce gravy itself was really flavorful, savory, fatty enough and had that subtle sweet, warm spice aroma you get in the Greek lasagna. I like to get dessert here sometimes when I have extra room, bc they have some great options like their galaktobourreko, chocolate ganache cake, etc. The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient on these visits.

I had Dolma and octopus and both were AMAZING!! The two apps and a house glass of wine came to $30. Service was non existent. I ordered at the counter and no one ever actually came to our table, but, it's a hookah spot. So no one really wants constant interruption. I'll be back!

I love Mediterranean food - it feels like a healthier option, but still super satisfying. The place itself is casual but has a nice enough atmosphere that it feels like a little treat every time we go. There's a big front patio where you can smoke hookah, and it's always buzzing with people. I've even noticed a lot of people working on their laptops out there. The whole vibe is just really chill. We have our go to order: hot green tea with honey. Idk why I love it so much but I swear it just hits different here. Maybe it's the cute little pot they serve it in. For food, we usually start with an appetizer and split the mixed shawarma plate. This last time we shared a Greek salad as an appetizer. Fresh and delicious as always. One of our sides was the baba ghanoush, which was incredible. Dont get me started on the pita it comes with....Warm, soft, and fresh. It takes everything in me not to demolish the whole basket. For our other side, we always get the potatoes. They're perfectly seasoned with a slight sweetness and a little kick. Hands down my favorite side dish here! The portions are generous too. For me and my boyfriend (who can definitely eat), splitting this is always enough to fill us up. I also have to shout out the service because it's consistently great. Even when it's packed and there's just one waiter, everything flows smoothly. Safe to say we'll keep coming back!

The only two entrees I could see were a falafel plate and a cheese pida for vegetarians. I opted for the the cheese pida and a salad as I felt like my dinner needed some vegetables. The salad was plain tasting consisting of a lemon based dressing and cubes of tomato, cucumber, bell pepper. The dressing was not strong and I wished it had more flavor. I took it home and added my own dressing from home the next day. It's unfortunate that they charge an additional $1.50 for feta cheese which would have elevated the salad flavor. The cheese pide was good and a very large portion size. I wish there were some vegetables added however. The dough was delicious. Istanbul grill does make good bread. The pita bread was also good, very soft, and tasted fresh. It was busy on a Saturday night. Decor is minimal inside and ambiance was family friendly. Most of the tables were families with children. I will note that the interior was on the warmer side for a November night. Overall likely would not return just because of limited vegetarian food.
