Don't let the convenience store front fool you, AL is A1. They don't service the "over rice" plates with all the sauces, but their meats and rice pack so much flavor, you don't need sauce. My go to is the half gyro and half chicken shawarma which is served over perfectly seasoned rice along with the creamiest hummus on this planet. YAY: -Gyro plate. Delicious. Meat had a great texture and flavor, with crispy edges. -The kibbeh. On its own or part of a sampler, just make sure you get it. Wow. Stole the show. Perfect texture and very delicious. -The falafel. Falafel is usually a miss for me at most places since it's usually too dry. I picked it up thinking it'd be the same situation since it was so hard on the outside but somehow... it was moist on the inside. Very crisp exterior with a moist interior -- surprisingly great. NAY: -The chicken shawarma plate. I figured the chicken would be great since the beef was but it wasn't as good. It wasn't bad or particularly dry or anything. Coworkers wanted gyro/kabob for lunch and asked me for a recommendation. I suggested Al's and informed them it's been over a year since my last visit, but that when I used to go regularly, I was always satisfied. Well, today, we placed an order for 2 chicken kabob plates, 1 gyro with extra meat, and 1 hummus supreme with extra meat at 1235p(ish) via doordash. We received a notification that food was picked up at 1256p, and at 110p our driver was dropping it off. Unfortunately, all of our food was lukewarm-cold and both gyro meat and chicken were dry. My hummus supreme lacked flavor and extra meat that was paid for. All pita bread had to be reheated. Boss didnt even words for his gyro other than to say "do not order again." Sadly, more than half the food ended up in the garbage. Really hoped we'd be adding them to monthly rotation, but that won't be happening. read more
