I want so badly to give this place four stars. We go here a few times each time we stay in the area, but the food has slipped a little. I'm sure it has something to do with the supply chain and Covid. But the menu is not as big as it once was, but still a solid standby for when we are out late and just want a decent meal. On our first night in Paris, we had reservations at Saint Augustin, which was an easy walk from our Hilton Paris Opera Hotel. The place was packed by 7pm, but they seemed to be short staffed for the crowd, so service was not the best. Among our group, half of us ordered the shrimp risotto, which I did, and it was very good. So was the house Pinot Noir I ordered. But a couple people at the table ordered steak, and those turned out to be terrible choices. My son-in-law ordered prime rib, rare (which it usually is). What he got, was definitely not prime rib, and it didn't look like they even tried to cook it. It was so bad, he asked them to take it away and ordered a hamburger instead. The server was not apologetic, and basically put the blame on my SIL, trying to make it his fault. We enjoyed a lot of great restaurants in Paris. This was not one of them. read more

We had a lovely dinner here. Waiter was great - very accommodating of our limited French. Food was simple - not five star worthy, but nice authentic ambiance. Had the roast chicken. This brasserie was recommended by our hotel. We liked to so much, we ate dinner there 3 times during our stay. After our first dinner, the wait staff remembered us and welcomed us back. Service was quick and pleasant. They have a large menu selection. I enjoyed the fish dish so much that I ordered it twice. I also had a salad nicoise which was lovely. My BF had chicken the first time, a burger the next time and a steak on our last visit. All were flavorful and cooked nicely. My only disappointment was the dessert special. I wanted traditional tiramisu. What I got was a little mason jar with mostly whipped cream, a few raspberries and a small circle of cake. After that, we stuck with the creme brûlée which had a smooth custard texture and just the right amount of caramelized sugar. I loved the traditional atmosphere with the dark wood and mirrors. And they stay open very late which was a bonus. Can't wait to go back. read more

Great location and views of the streets. The food here is average; but the service is good. Prices are way more than they should be for the quality of the food. But sometimes--when it's rainy & cold outside--places like this are the best. Also discovered a new favorite beer so that's cool. read more

A so-so brasserie. I had the poulet fermier (Farmer's Chicken), which was so dry it was almost unchewable, served with the ubiquitous French fries. Prices are reasonable but still on the high side for brasseries. I'm sure there are better places nearby to drop 24 euros for lunch (with a glass of wine). read more

Great service and great food. Late dinner after sleeping all afternoon following overnight flight. Very nice comfortable evening.

This appeared to be a typical French bistro. Wait staff was pleasant when I walked in alone. They sat me is a prime and I boring spot facing the heart of the place. The waiter pointed into the menu after opening it to tell me the lamb was the plate du jour. I liked that was ok knowing it was the formula. Although when the bill came I was told it was not and charged the price on the menus listing. I know it was my fault? I should have not been in a hurry and asked the price. But the serving was small, as often the case for plate du jour. They treated me like a tourist, shame on them. The cut of lamb was mostly bone and the salad was wilted without a dressing. Potatoes were chunky for the mash they described. My husband always tells me to not to eat in tourist land but I really thought this was neighborhood for the 8th. Never to return. read more

We decided to eat at the Le Saint Augustin on a snowy Sunday morning, when most of the cafes weren't even open yet. To our luck, the cafe turned out to be a great choice. We had croissants (cream, chocolate, and jam), fresh OJ, coffee with fresh cream, the cheese omelet and side salad. The food was extremely fresh and the omelet was cooks just right. The offered great price bundled on the breakfast combo. Also, servers didn't speak any English, although they were really nice with helping us out--very friendly and welcoming. For a traditional breakfast, I would definitely want to come here again. read more

Food was terrible and the waiter named J Luc insisted service was not included in the Total TTC. Since I wasn't positive I agreed to add 10 euros to the bill. Later the staff at my hotel confirmed service is always included in TTC. J Luc also ripped off a couple sitting across from us. read more
