Arrived in Paris and stumbled on this amazing restaurant for breakfast! I love the lay out of the restaurant. The streets are busy around it but I absolutely loved being able to people watch while eating here. When we arrived, we were promptly sat outside in the front. Service was great and the waiters were very kind. I ordered the bacon egg Benedict and a hot chocolate. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The portion was huge as well and left me satisfied. Everything was delicious! We got there early so at first it wasn't too busy but eventually more people came as the morning got later. The ambiance is pretty relaxed and great for any group of people you may want to come here with. The restaurant doesn't seem very big but there were a lot of seat options. read more

We really liked it. Last night in Paris, found ourselves in need of a casual spot with good food and a relaxed vibe, this hit the spot. Managed to book a table on a Sunday evening for 9pm and on arrival we'd definitely missed the peak rush as lots of tables were starting to clear out as we settled in. Which meant we were able to get the attention of the busy bustling waiters who had clearly been working hard all evening. Once we'd got their attention things went well & we all enjoyed our choices: steak, burgers, house potatoes, salad and some really nice wines by the glass. My Negroni aperitif was also really good. It was horrible - I was with a Frenchman and Englishman. Both joked it was the worst meal of their lives. The wine was rotgut, and the buyer clearly was looking for a margin by serving food bought as cheaply as possible. We weren't expecting much, but the cheese and charcuterie plate was an insult to France - tasteless, pâté full of fillers and one piece of ham had turn color and stunk. The Englishman just called to say the hamburger he ate last night has ruined his stomach. I know this review is scathing. However, it was that bad. read more

Love this place. Friendly service, lively atmosphere, great food. The salad I ordered the first time was fantastic, steamed vegetables on lettuce - the French really know how to do vegetables. The quiche today was divine. Makes me want to cook through Julia Childs book to find out how they do it. We will probably be back one more time before we leave - haven't tried the desserts yet. Ahh, my last dinner in Paris on my first trip there. It was really a nice experience. Seemed like a casual spot for locals to get dinner at. My criteria that night for choosing a restaurant (and often) was going to a packed place. Packed = good food. I was right. We started with a caprese salad type appetizer that was amazing. The bread was delicious too. I got a cheesy ravioli that was soooo heavy but also so amazing. My boyfriend had a burger and fries that was delicious. The service was good and I loved sitting outside. We came here late at night, around 12:30am, very hungry and straight from the airport. When we got in then waiter kindle let us know that the kitchen had closed. However, the owner saw our two little girls and immediately said she would serve whatever they wanted to eat! We got penne al arrabbiata and quattro formaggi gnocchi and both were excellent. We got Bordeaux and a Campari aperitif to go with it which were delicious as well. Ended with panna cotta, tiramisu, and a coffee. Waiter was super attentive and the food was served very fast. Especially the pasta for our kids. When we were leaving, the girls walked up to the owner and said "Merci". She was so tickled! She gave them some lollies on their way out. So this place serves Italian, although one wouldn't have guessed from the ultra french restaurant name. The location is pretty good, right next to the St. Paul metro exit so a decent place to people watch. Service was pretty remarkable. We got one pasta each. My friend got a fusili in a red sauce with aubergine (eggplant) and i got the tiger shrimp tagliatelle. They did not skimp on the shrimp. My dish was okay. My friend's penne was really good because of the aubergine - it was grilled to perfection. If i ever happen to come back, or if you happen to eat here, get something that has eggplants and you won't regret it. I should probably also mentioned that i broke out in hives on my face shortly after eating the shrimps. This usually happens when the shrimp was not cooked from raw, but reheated from having been cooked the the night before ... Otherwise, this place is pretty satisfactory over all. An okay bistro, with okay food and prices (33 EUR for two pasta and two glasses of wine), in a decent location with good service. Can't complain. read more

This was our favorite restaurant from our trip to Paris. The food was amazing! There was not a thing we tried that wasn't absolutely fantastic. The pasta (which they make in-house) is superb, the country chicken (a special one of the nights we visited) was delicious. We tried basically all of their desserts, as well - amazing! Make sure to get chocolat chaud here. They serve up melted chocolate in a mug and give you steamed milk to make your own. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Le Bucheron is across the street from the hotel we were staying at, so we made several visits during our time in Paris. The service is friendly and the staff know enough English to help you out if your French is lacking like mine. We enjoyed the patio on our first visit, where we sipped wine and shared a charcuterie & cheese tray. There is plenty going on in this area of Le Marais, so the people watching was enjoyable as we relaxed after a long day of museum-going. Our second visit, we decided to sit at the bar to eat and drink, in hopes of getting a better feel for the locals. I unwittingly committed a faux pas by grabbing the wine bottle we had ordered and pouring it myself to start, but the bartender was very polite about it and just asked "taste? Do you like?" She was a lot of fun, singing along to American pop music and blues that were playing on their stereo, and we enjoyed goofing off together as she and her cohort busily worked the bar and dining room all evening. We both had pasta dishes - I had gnocchi with for cheeses and my husband tried the pasta Le Bucheron, per our server's recommendation. Neither of us were disappointed. Then she talked us into dessert - best crème brûlé I've ever had (and I've eaten a lot of crème brûlé in my lifetime). After that, she treated us each to a shot of limoncello as an aperitif, on the house. When we left, she asked us if we would be back and gave us the business card, so apparently the wine mistake and lack of French skills had been long since forgiven. Yes, we had a third visit as well... I had been cooped up in my hotel room all day, not feeling well, but we decided some fresh air and food might help me out, so we crossed the street again to see our "friends". My husband opted for another pasta dish (spaghetti bolognese) and I decided to just have hot chocolate, and again we weren't disappointed. The chocolate came melted in my cup, with a small pitcher of streamed milk to put over it, and completely hit the spot. After he devoured his pasta, his sweet tooth started to persuade him and he decided he needed to try the profiteroles he had seen going to another table earlier. Again, we weren't disappointed. He ate most of it, as I had already had a good portion of chocolate and milk for the evening, but of course I had to taste it! The choir pastry puffs were filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with a delicious chocolate sauce and complimented perfectly with toasted almond slices. We stayed awhile, conversing and sipping water, and thoroughly enjoy how the French welcome you to stay and relax as long as you like. They're open late, so it's a great place to relax at the end of your long days of touristing, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone passing though the area... read more

They make their own pasta, which is always a plus in my book. Rented an apt around the corner the last two September's. This became our neighborhood place. Welcoming and comfortable with good food, wine and service. The ribeye is my jet lag arrival "save me" meal and the fresh pasta makes my pasta making / extraordinary cook wife very happy. Great burgers & fries. The creme brulee is as good as it gets. Our last dinner in Paris! We were looking for something casual and local-ish and stumbled upon good reviews for Le Bucheron. Staff was very friendly and moved us to a table outside when one opened. We started with the brushetta, which was very good, probably the best thing we had. I had the pesto pasta with sun-dried tomatoes and my boyfriend had the spaghetti bolognese, both very yummy and large portions. It started to pour as we were eating and all the outside table patrons scooched their chairs back. Suddenly a large car sped by and sprayed us all with a huge wave of water. The staff was immediately outside, moving us to new tables, apologizing and handing out paper towels to everyone. Between the yummy food and the caring staff it was a lovely night! read more

Want real good Italian food? This restaurant was fantastic and not expensive (€13-16 per entree). Parisian service (slow), but food was nice and hot and very tasty. They will serve a small salad (not on the menu) to accompany your meal. Chianti was super refreshing. Had problems paying with a credit card at first because "the system was down", but it miraculously started working when I said we didn't have enough cash. Draw your own conclusion. BUT, we love our pasta Bolognese, pasta with pesto, salmon, pasta sicilian (great eggplant), table bread with olive oil and salads. GO THERE!!! This is the only cafe I know of in Paris that gives you your own mini carafe full of heated milk separately from your coffee when you order cafe creme! Student studying in France, visiting Paris for a few days on break. Happened to find this place by chance, right down the street from my hostel. Had the grilled squid, lemon veal cutlet and the crème brûlée for dessert--squid was tender and flavorful veal was likewise, and the crème brûlée was absolutely unreal. Not sure if it was customary or if my swarthy American charm and intermediate French skills won me it, but I received a complimentary shot of limoncello at the end of the meal. We chose this restaurant on a whim and it was wonderful. The young lady who waited on us was excited to have Americans in her section. Although our French was marginal and her English was minimal, we figured out the menu. They will suggest water, just be sure to specify tap water ( l'eau du robinet). We did not and paid $16 American dollars for water. Other than that, it was amazing and we will be visiting this place again soon. read more
