We had a wonderful meal at Le Choupinet. We wanted steak frites, but they were out of that cut of meat. The hostess, who provided superb service, suggested the beef for two, which was so flavorful and served in a generous portion. I started with onion soup and my husband had a salad. The beef was served with a generous portion of frites. Of course we had wine...we were in Paris! We were stuffed, but again...we were in Paris, and had to have dessert. the restaurant was beautiful, the ambience was great too, but the service was quite poor. I'm not sure if it's because we were in the far corner outside, but it took over half an hour to be asked what drinks we wanted, and generally after that the service was really slow, we finished our mains, no one came to take our plates or ask if we wanted dessert, or If we wanted the bill, after around 20 minutes I asked for the bill and it never came, so in the end we went in to pay. It was a shame as the staff did seem really nice inside, so maybe we were just unlucky outside. read more

My husband and I first came upon this place when visiting Paris in February. We enjoyed the pleasant ambiance and kind wait staff. The best thing for me, however, was the steak de thon mi-cuit (seared tuna). Wow, the best I've ever had! I love the sauce that it is served in and that it is coated in sesame seeds. So delicious! It also comes with yummy mashed potatoes! We are now back in Paris for a long visit for an art course. After my first week of classes, my husband took me here to celebrate! Of course, I had the tuna once again. Our daughter is visiting us now and loves seared tuna so, of course, we took her here a couple days ago. She agrees with me! The music and vibes are fun and lively. There's this fun charming youthful and coziness. True to it's name translated to "sweetheart". Le Choupinet is French for sweetie or cutie a term of endearment. This restaurant is popular with IG selfie takers who pose with some of the giant size stuffed animal Teddy bear. By the looks of the condition of those teddy bears, I would not touch them, after everyone else has :( Like most restaurants it was busy, but we just wanted to sit for a while to rest from all the walking and decided to just have a little something as we had dinner plans later. We had a lunch reservation for Le Choupinet and arrived early. The hostess quickly and politely seated us among all of the teddy bears and other patrons. The atmosphere is unique and pleasant unless stuffed teddy bears are an issue.;) Everything we had was excellent. My wife had the Croque Choupinet which was a ham and cheese sandwich with potato's and she loved it as evidenced by a clean plate that is a rare compliment, indeed. My son had a cheeseburger and said it was one of the best he has ever had. I had the Caesar salad with chicken and it was also very good. The dressing had a more mayonnaise taste than the Caesar dressing I am familiar with but it was pleasant in small doses. The salad and especially the chicken was fresh. Stumbled upon this spot after leaving Jardin du Luxembourg and checking out it's fantastic playground. Such a great spot to come to with a hungry family. It's insta-worthy, unique feature of sitting giant bears at your table kept my kids excited and entertained. Our server was great and understanding that we have to feed my youngest daughter her own food due to her food allergies. He recommended the French onion soup which is one of my favorites so I had to try it! My husband got a burger and fries, my oldest daughter got a side salad and fries, and my mom got the goat cheese salad, which I had an opportunity to taste and it was delicious. I wasn't in love with the spinach ravioli because it was heavy on the spinach filling, but the french onion soup totally made up for it. As an appetizer my table split the escargot which I don't care for, but my oldest daughter tried for the first time and liked! Super cute spot! I enjoyed my obligatory escargot. It was good, better than I've had in the States. They seemed meatier and more succulent than what I'm used to. We went for lunch and got the croque choupinette and the steak a Cheval. The croque madame was lacking flavor. It can be challenging while traveling abroad to find a restaurant that has a welcoming atmosphere AND food that doesn't disappoint and this little gem does just that! With a creative inviting twist on decor and the friendliest waitstaff you'll be glad you came! Being starving and jet lagged the menu was easy to navigate- even for myself a vegan. The lentil salad was phenomenal and the pasta was perfection. I could die happily swimming in a tub of their espresso and appreciated the details down to the branded cookie. The place is colorfully decorated and can easily accommodate a family or a group of young friends. Honestly surprised that this place has such good reviews. Let me clarify first: the staff was wonderful - very nice and attentive. Second, the wine we ordered was quite good. However, every other aspect of the experience was awful. Guess we should have known with it being nearly 100% tourist crowd. Food was mediocre , especially for the price - everything was either too sweet (poireaux au vinaigrette, for example) or too salty (duck confit). And worst of all, we left smelling like nasty old grease even though we were only inside for perhaps an hour or so. The smell is all over our hair, clothes, and coats, reminding us constantly that we just spent nearly 100€ for a frankly terrible meal. I don't mean to be a grouch about the teddy bears, they are obviously everywhere and many people clearly like them. However, they take up so much space that our server nearly spilled our wine and water on our table trying to evade the stupid thing. If you are thinking, what the heck, this place is near my hotel, how bad could if be? Take our advice: get a bottle of wine at a nearby Franprix, get some fast food from the numerous nearby options, and have what's almost certain to be a better meal in your hotel at a fraction of the price - and you probably won't smell disgusting at the end of it? read more

We traveled the Latin Quarter on a recommendation and came across this place by chance. This restaurant has been the best place we have visited this trip to Paris so far. We went simple last night for rotisserie chicken and a cheeseburger. The rotisserie chicken has been the best we have tasted on both sides of the ocean. The chicken was lightly seasoned, not too salty and had a nice crispy skin. The chicken was so moist and juicy throughout the chicken pieces. The mashed potatoes were an instant hit too. Very buttery and fluffy. We also had green beans that were nicely fixed with a good crunch. The servers here were very friendly and outgoing. The place is super cute, and sitting outside is lovely The food is good and they have quite a few options. Their avocado toast is so good and they have yummy fries as well. They have a great drinks menu and there more drinks than food here so it's more of a lounging kind of restaurant The only thing I would improve on would be service. First of all, it's a very friendly place with relaxed atmosphere and lots to look at and take in. The service was excellent. The food was great, and reasonably-priced.
