This was the perfect rest and recuperate spot! I was craving a cheese board after walking around for hours and it did not disappoint! Our server was a young, happy blonde kid who spoke great English which helped out as I'm still learning and practicing my French. He was so kind and even helped me learn some new words. The St.Germain spritz was among the prettiest I have gotten so far, and my boyfriend also enjoyed his 1664 beer as well. Server spoke English. Cute restaurant in a beautiful area. We found it as we were walking around the little town squares and shops in the area. This was our first night in Paris and we were quite nervous because we don't speak French. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in and a server who spoke English greeted and assisted us. He was extremely polite and friendly and he made our experience there so enjoyable and relaxing. I ordered the Cot Cot Burger (fried chicken burger) and it was so good. My wife got the seared tuna and it was incredible and we got our daughter fried chicken and fries and I was delicious as well. We spent some time relaxing and enjoying the evening so I had some cocktails, wine and an Irish coffee, all very good. Being right next to the self-laundry service, this hidden gem turned out to be a delightful surprise that left us utterly thrilled. I used to visit this place all the time 10 years ago and back then it was good. Back then I used to order the œuf en murettes and onion soup. The food was very French and it appeared the chefs actually cooked the food. I went there today and it was the worst meal I have ever had in Paris. I was so excited that I brought someone with me and I'll have to say I was quite embarrassed. Not sure how they still have customers. I believe the reviews on trip advisors and Instagram must be their friends. All the food appears to be store bought, heated in a microwave and then garnished at the end. I ordered the gnocchi with truffle and morel. If you look closely at the picture you can tell it to was microwaved. The food came out in less than 3 minutes after ordering it. Also ordered the brioche perdu and the whipped cream was out of a can, something I have never witnessed in Paris. Very sad. read more

Great Cobb Salad and bread! It's our first time in Paris and weren't sure wheee to eat. We enjoyed this place!

I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Verse Toujours. I ordered the Panier (can't remember the name), and it was full of fresh fruits and vegetables. I loved the artichokes, the tomatoes and mozzarella and the eggs with mayonnaise. The cantaloupe was perfectly ripe, and matched well with the rest of the salad. I loved the flavor combinations, and would definitely order this again. I was craving dessert the night I was there, and ordered the chocolate lava cake. It was soooo good! Verse Toujours was packed with locals, and people who are obviously big fans. I would highly recommend checking out Verse Toujours when in the area! read more

I am from the land of "everything closes at 9 PM" and while in Paris, I knew that I could find a late-night eatery to satisfy my French curiosities. I was staying in an AirBnB on Port Royal and at 12:30 AM (or 24:30), the place had to be within walking distance. With the help of Google Maps, Yelp and some Euros burning a hole in my pocket, I found Verse Toujours. I had to wait for a table. as it was crowded, even though they were to close at 2 AM. As a solo diner, I was never made to feel as if I were a burden or that my service was lacking. I got excellent service, even though they were closing down, albeit a slow-going breakdown of the restaurant. I got steak frites, a kir royale to drink and the famed Nutella Tiramisu. My plate was beaitiful, fresh and I couldn't have asked for anything better. The tiramisu was EXCELLENT. It was huge and should and could be shared by 2 or more people. I ate the entire thing and had absolutely no regrets. I did, however, think it was a little expensive at 7 euros, but it was worth it. I will seek this little face out again when I visit Paris in the future. That tiramisu paired with a bright, bubbly kir royale was a dream. read more

We went for lunch today. Location near the busy traffic street not perfect. However tables are always crammed and the reason soon became clear: food is really good. We were looking around at the other tables to find a tip on what to choose. I saw the fries and went for the burger. My wife saw a beautiful salmon salad and went for that. With a bottle of chardonnay we paid 39€. The burger wad perfect and the salad delicious. The fries were awesome: thin and crunchy. Maybe I found out why we call them french fries :) At the end we had great food and service was quick and kind. The place is right near a topical point of the Latin Quarter, you may want to end up here after the long walk like we did. read more

This was our first meal in Paris after flying in from London. It was a little intimidating but the waitress there spoke English with us right away (hello yoga pants and black north face--what screams American tourist more than that? Ha) and she was really nice. My sister ordered range beef tartare and I ordered the steak and fries. What's new? The steak and fries were average. The fries were amazing (as they always are in Paris) but the steak was tough. I had asked for medium rare and the steak came out medium well. The beef tartare was tasty, but I've had better. This place wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. This is a good place to people watch. Wish I had more time to people watch but food is life. read more

Disclaimer: tourist from Seattle This is my third time to Paris and first time staying in the Latin quarter, so for our first dinner here, we just winged it and trusted yelp. It looks like a normal French bistro, busy and lively, although we were kind of tucked away in the back (which was okay since my girlfriends and I were tired from traveling). We started off with the duck foie and it was goood. I don't understand why we can't have it like this in the states!! If I were to rate my dish, the magret de canard, it would be five stars!! What a surprise to have one of my best duck meals on a random restaurant pick. However it came with some weird vegetable lasagna thing that I was just not interested in eating. My friends got steak and frites and a duck burger and they said they were good, but I think my entree was the best. For some reason I always want to try Nutella tiramisu, and it was highly recommended on yelp here, but I think after this time, I'm just going to opt to only get original tiramisu and only if it looks amazing. This Nutella tiramisu is better than other ones I've had but it wasn't amazing or fantastic. I'd rather save the calories for Berthillon ice cream or Pierre Herme macarons! And they actually carry Berthillon glacé, so we were in luck and ordered a sundae of vanilla and salted caramel ice cream. :) read more

The service here was very good, the waiter was nice, attentive and even joked around with us in a non offensive way. The wines here are priced well and the desserts are okay. All in all it was a good experience. Oh, and they have a menu in English (with the same prices as the French menu). Edit: we came back the next day during the daylight hours and had more food and dessert and just hung out for a couple hours. The desert was called Ile de Brehat and was made with fresh caramel and Berthillon ice cream. It was AMAZING!! Plus one more star. read more

I'm disappointed on the misleading reviews of this restaurant. I have to say this place was probably one of the worst meals I've had in Paris ever. We ordered the duck and I can't believe it was serve the way it was. It shrank and was the smallest and driest piece of duck I have ever had in my life. When I first moved to Paris, this was one of the first restaurants I tried. Initially it was because it was close to my apartment and I was able to communicate okayish with my broken French. Turns out Verse Toujours has become one of my go to places! I usually order one of the salads and split with a friend if I'm looking for something on the lighter side. The portions are large and the salads are so so fresh. The one I always have is a bed of mixed greens topped with salmon, salmon, beets, tomatos, bean sprouts, and it is perfectly dressed.. I'm a bit of a salad snob so that says a lot! The cheese boards are really reasonable and equally as order worthy. Not a touristy place but the service is super friendly and menus in English are also available. Oh, and DO NOT leave without ordering the Nutella Tiramisu!!! read more

So impressed!!! I was lucky enough to stay within walking distance from this gem on my recent trip to Paris. One evening, after a long day of touring the city, I went back to my room to relax for a bit when I realized how hungry I was. I didn't have the energy to trek very far, so I yelped the area to see what I could find around me - and this place popped up. I decided to give it a shot, since it had such good reviews. It was still early rather early so I didn't worry about it being too crowded. It was a bit chilly, so I decided to sit inside, and had a perfect view of the whole restaurant. It was very cute - rather comfortable feeling, but still allowed for a nice dining experience. I was alone, so the coziness was nice for me. The service was excellent and the staff were all so nice (and good looking!) - I chatted with my server about his recent trip to Burning Man even! I decided to go with the Steak and Frites - as well as a glass (ok maybe more than 1 glass...) of delicious red wine. It was perfectly cooked. Incredible. Melted in my mouth - and the frites were perefectly seasoned and crisp. I ate every single bite. Then...since this date was going so well - decided to opt for dessert. I ordered the nutella tiramisu and a glass of champagne. I died. It was the best dessert in life. So delicious. I couldn't have been happier, or more full. I sipped my champagne leisurely and then walked myself home. It was a beautiful time. I highly recommend this place if you're in Paris. Wonderful experience. read more

After reading Marjo's review, I was quite excited about the place. However, I was disappointed! The food was good but nothing exceptional. My biggest complaint would be the portions: small! I had the Ballade en montagne salad and frankly, I was hungry after that. So I had a dessert: a crumble; good but nothing great. I went there with two friends: one thought it was so-so (he had the entrecôte [which was not an entrecôte, btw!], with a bit of fries and a bit of salad, and the café gourmand with a tasteless and dry cookie and a weird nutella tiramisu) and the other liked it a lot (he had the petite marmite de porc à la créole [it did smell good] and the cheesecake [he loved it but I thought it was not that tasty]). The place was packed which meant that the waithers were busy. They kept bumping into my chair without apologizing. Overall, it was not such a great experience... Dommage! And, BTW, the name is "Verse Toujours", in reference to an old saying linked to brasseries! read more

I'd probably recommend ordering off the specials board rather than the menu for best deal on food. The night I went, they had Paris-Brest on the dessert menu. This is within walking distance from my apartment (here for just a week). Our group of 4 was looking for someplace nearby as we were trying to recover from jet lag having flown in the day before. Viola! This restaurant is a gorgeous throwback architecturally. Service is very good as is the food (thinly sliced duck for me on a bed of vegetables with some type of light sauce--not overpowering at all). The recommended rose was perfect. Others in our group had the steak frites (steak and fries) and enormous burgers that were completely gone when I looked at their plates. Beer on tap was a winner for one of our members.
