I love Paris and I love Le Parc aux Cerfs. One of my favorite restaurants in Paris. This fabulous restaurant was recommended to us and I'm so happy we stopped in. The first time I came in was 14 years ago and each time I go to Paris I never miss a meal here. I didn't want to share my secret place but I guess it's not a secret anymore. This tiny restaurant offers a pre-fix menu so all courses are included at a very reasonable price which includes coffee and dessert. Remember you're in Europe and real estate is a premium so if this is your first time in Paris be prepared to have your neighbor's sitting in very close proximity. The white linen covered tables offers some elegance but don't be fooled a large piece of drawing paper is draped over it along with some crayons for you to scribble while you sit. Every time I'm in Paris I come here. The service is fabulous and the owner is always stopping by your table to check on you. They really do serve some of the best wines. I actually called the next day and tried to order a case of the wine we had-that's how good it was. You won't be disappointed. The busboy Oscar is a Spaniard and he was so helpful. He actually suggested some great wines and menu items. Super helpful if you speak Spanish because he was helpful with all of my requests. Menus are available in English. After dinner to continue my fun night in Paris I walk a few steps and cross the tiny cobblestone street to the Cubana Cafe for a mojito, then top off the night with some Port at Rosebud's which is also walking distance. The ambience is wonderful at Le Parc Aux Cerfs. It's very modern and trendy. It doesn't have the typical Parisian look, in fact, it almost came off as more of a NYC feel. They were accommodating to my gluten allergy as well, which I greatly appreciated. The service was decent, the waitress just seemed slightly annoyed but everything came out very quickly, the orders were all correct, etc, so I can't complain! Everything on the plate was fantastic. I had the duck and my wife had the veal, both cooked great. Her potatoes and my polenta were absolutely delicious. Don't stop there if you come here. A great surprise. We had walked past it on a night returning from dinner. We arrived the following evening shortly after 10pm. There were a handful of tables still with diners. Knowing it was late we asked if they could accommodate 2 people for dinner (in bad french). They were able to without problem but did mention that they would prefer if we ordered all at once which was totally fine with us. I opted for the roasted artichoke tart which was absolutely great. Flavors which seemed as though they should be simple were complex and refined. My wife chose the bay scallops and proclaimed them to be some of the best she's had (this coming from a new englander who grew up on the beach) The restaurant was able to accommodate nixing the crawfish from the mushroom risotto, and cooked a perfect steak for my wife. Dessert was perfectly done. Chocolate cakesomerhingorrather and a fig tart. This tart was hands down the best dessert I had during our week in Paris. read more

Had dinner there last night. I ordered off the prize fix menu. Started with the cardamom blini topped with a poached egg and marinated salmon in a white butter sauce. It was so full of flavor and delicious. My main course was Yakitori salmon with mashed potatoes. Another amazing dish. I finished with a chocolate cake and ice cream. The cake had a mousse-like texture and was delicious as well. Great food at a good price. It was a slow night and service was great. I'm in love! I almost don't want to add this restaurant because it is a hidden gem, but it's not fair to keep it all to myself. We were staying in Montparnasse and stumbled across this great little restaurant. It looks small from the outside but is actually much larger than it appears. We didn't have a reservation, but got a table before the place filled up. This is not a touristy place, which is exactly what we were looking for. The menu is in French, and while we could understand some things, we did need a bit of help. The owner was really great and sat down with us and explained the entire menu. We took his suggestions and were not disappointed. The food was thoughtfully prepared and indescribably delicious-- the sauces were amazing. The servers were super attentive. Nothing to improve on. Perfect little low-key restaurant with an intimate atmosphere and not too pricey (for Paris). I wish I were there right now! If you're in Paris and want to eat a nice lunch or dinner, make some time to visit this spot. It's very close to the Luxembourg Garden so make a day of it! read more

We had a great Meal.. Very busy for a sunday night but Its Paris.. My wife had the foie gras as an appetizer and I had the celery soup. Both were very good. For entree's we had the farm raísed port and the veal. The pork was very good, the veal was underseasoned, had to add some salt and pepper and it brought out many nice flavors. This place is such an amazing find. We had dinner here one evening during a trip to Paris. We did not have any reservations, but we came in early hoping we can get seated. I don't speak much French, but the little I know managed to get us seated. I think it may have been the owner I spoke to and he was very welcoming. The service was excellent... and the food was phenomenal! I had a warm salad with scallops as an appetizer and the roasted duck for the main course. It was the BEST meal I had in Paris. The restaurant is buzzed with guests, though it is not crowded, it's almost full. I ordered the set menu. The food has enough portion so you won't be hungry (even without eating the bread). The hostess is very kind and gave me a red wine as a compliment. I hope the bread is better. That would have been a perfect dinner. I travelled to France with a group of friends this past October. One of my friends kept talking about this restaurant and I have to say, I was still pleasantly surprised. We spent our very last night in Paris here, and I am so glad that we did. This place is quaint and SO cute. The staff was so nice and were very patient with our attempts to speak French and even provided us a menu in English. The wine was delicious and very fairly priced. I ordered the scallop risotto, which was a fantastic farewell to France meal. I also highly recommend the hot chocolate soup. It was basically a bowl of hot fudge - delicious! Very pleasant restaurant with good value food. It's a bit tucked away, but I guess that is part of the reason it is less touristy. The multi-tasking gentleman was very nice, as well as the waitress. We had entree+plat each and shared one dessert and half a bottle of wine and it came to €87 which I think is pretty good for the food we got. The duck breast dish was very interesting with some hints of Asian spices (cumin, mandarin peels?). I also like that they are open in Sunday's. I do not give out five stars easily but the meal we had was among the best I've had at any restaurant ever. I had a scallop appetizer which was simply superb - small scallops done perfectly with a wonderful salad - a great start. My wife had the crab and shrimp risotto which she loved and I had the sea bass (loup de mer) on a bed of tomato-zuchini. The sea bass was cooked perfectly - crispy skin with the filet perfectly moist - just right! If you are in the area, you MUST stop here for lunch or dinner - we did for lunch and I think for dinner you may have to reserve. We had the sea bass and the duck breast for the mains and we both favored the sea bass though the duck had good flavor as well. No. It's something ironical that this small hidden-gem-kinda looking place actually was not such thing after we had a great french cuisine at La Rotonde, where we had an amazing sole and beef tartar for our entrees along with fresh bread and ** echire** butter. This small, look-like a hidden gem serves bread with no butter... Our entrees were seabass and pork. Both were just ok-level, which means you can get the same level of these dishes anywhere. My wife's duck had a bit of a heavy sauce, but was still good. What brought it down from 4 to 3 stars was the vegetables she was served which was very over cooked. Limp beans, limp snow peas, and limp carrots even... If the veggies had been nicely done I'd have argued harder for four stars. read more

The food was just not very good. In addition, the table cloths are covered in butcher paper and a cup of crayons are placed on every table. The night we were there, there were two unruly children who thought and acted like they were wild Indians at the playground. I don't know if they were perfect angels, the food would have been any better. It was definitely one disappointing meal. read more

Perfect! I found myself texting my boyfriend, who is back at home, saying when we come we have to come to this restaurant. The favors in the meals that we ordered where so unique. We both ordered the Tai Beef salad, very very good. My mom enjoyed it as well but she avoided the beef because it is just seared so it's pretty rare. I ordered the Pork which was amazing. I hate only giving 3 stars, as the people were so nice, but overall the food was a disappointment. I had the millefleurs aubergine appetizer which was ice cold. I had the pork main - the potatoes and sauce were quite good, but the pork was overcooked and dry. My wife and I entered Le Parc Aux Cerfs with high expectations and an eager appetite for dinner. This cozy Montparnasse restaurant is on 50 Rue Vavin in the 6me. We were seated in the brightly lit front room (would this be the "Penalty Box"?) and not in the more atmospheric "coeur" back room where most of their clientele dine. This was October and we had booked way back in March, yet here we were, figures in our own Edward Hopper painting and one hour later, the picture hadn't improved. We had finished our sparkling water and were half way through a bottle of red but no food, not even bread--not even a waiter--had come to the table. Nearby diners were all served their three courses. Finally, after an hour and ten minutes, they brought us our main dishes, but had never brought the appetizers. When we explained this (in their language) they found it hard to believe they could have made such a mistake--we were not being truthful. They soon realized their mistake--the waitress had written it down, after all--and so now our good fortune was to wait even longer to get the correction. They cursorily expressed fault, but did nothing to compensate--no courtesy stem of champagne or "merci" macaron. This, with an accumulating attitude of hostility and passive aggression--randomly cleaning glasses at the nearby counter versus clearing our stranded plates. The food was great, but realizing they probably eat it too, and seeing how they evolved, I now hate to think what's in it. I would characterize the service as sadistic, but, hey, it's your move. PS--we have had great times at wonderful French restaurants (reviews to follow) and, except this once, find the service efficient, positive, welcoming. This one spells dud--and you can put it in caps. read more
