When in Paris, you must go to a crêperie! Breizh Cafe is a popular crêperie with many locations throughout Paris. The cafe is a tight space, but since we came early, it wasn't busy. They have a clean bathroom upstairs, you'll just need to climb the staircase. We ordered the strawberry crepe and duck and asparagus galette bretonne. So there's actually a bit of a difference between a crepe and a galette. Crepes are usually sweet and made with wheat flour, while galettes are usually savory and made with buckwheat flour. Between the two, I enjoyed the strawberry crepe more, the strawberry jam made the crepe a delicious sweet treat. The flavors of the galette weren't as satisfying to my tastebuds, but I still enjoyed it. I would be interesting in trying other galette flavors next time. While my expectations weren't fully realized (I didn't LOVE it), I still enjoyed giving Breizh Cafe a try. We didn't visit enough crêperies on this trip, so it's something I look forward to doing the next time I'm back in Paris! read more

There is Cafe Breizh that always seems to have an hour wait and then Epicerie Breizh next door where you are directed to order take out from - but I was able to sit and order crepes at the Epicierie without having to wait, so I'm not entirely sure the difference between the two. I think the Cafe has a larger menu with things besides crepes. I actually preferred the more casual vibe at the Epicerie and only wanted to get a crepe anyways, so it worked out better for me. I had a dessert crepe with bananas and ice cream (think bananas foster, Parisian style) and it was very reasonably priced and delicious. read more

Last year on a visit to Paris I tried craperie suzette and this time around I wanted to try something different. A few different "must try" lists led me here. Our first visit was underwhelming, our server never put in half of my order so I was only able to try the galette that first day. He seemed mildly uninterested in our table and it felt awkward to ask as my companions were finished eating, so I resigned myself to come back later and try the crepes. Thankfully, the food itself is fantastic. When I came back for a salted caramel crepe with a little scoop of glacé he was kind of enough to give it to me on a little to go plate. I know that isn't how you are supposed to eat and enjoy this amazing French staple, but I had leave town! This is a really lovely way to start your day; I imagine if I lived here it would be a Sunday morning staple. Watch the crowds; it's a small place with tight seating. read more

I just can't get enough of this crepe place! One of the best brunch meals we had in Paris, and to be more specific, probably the best crepe we've ever had in our lives. Location is just perfect, there are so many things to explore in the Le Marais area. Including shopping, supreme, artistic shops, art galleries, and so many more. Some may say it's Paris' arts district. It's def unique! All in all, a must in Paris. Both savory and sweet crepes were so on point, especially the Campagnarde. They were to die for! Great place to stop by for a savoury or sweet crepe, whether that's for lunch or dinner! The staff was very friendly to both French and English speaking diners and had a copy of the menu in each language. Service was fast and exact, so the whole evening transitioned smoothly! This is not your "great discovery" but just generally well-delivered crepes and drinks from Brittany. Interestingly I was just out in Brittany last week, a couple weeks after my visit to this restaurant, and it became clear to me that Bretons really are in love with crepes and use them the way that tortillas are used in Mexico: as a delivery device for foods both savory and sweet. read more

Fantastic crepes! I wish we would've came earlier before the store was about to close so we could enjoy our crepes inside the restaurant. We came before they were right about to close and they wouldn't take anymore sit-down guests. We had to go next door and order crepes from their to-go shop. We stopped by here for an afternoon tea and it was the perfect place. I would say it is relatively tight, especially if there's a big crowd. We ordered a cup of coffee with milk, espresso, and crepes - caramel with ice cream. The crepe was scrumptious! It isn't overwhelmingly sweet which I was hesitant about. I've been meaning to go here since this place was recommended to me by many people. My bf and I were able to squeeze in on a weekday at around 7:15 pm without a reservation (they told us we would have to finish by 8:30 pm since the table was reserved then but this was no problem for us). We ordered two savory crepes, a side of wasabi salad, and cider. The crepes we had included one of the specials for the day which I can't remember the name of and a ham/onion one. I came here under Dave Leibovitz's recommendation. We knew to avoid peak times and were able to get a table for 2 right at the edge of the outside (got lucky!) around 2:30pm. The rest of the restaurant and the patio seating were completely full, and tables are right up against each other. This was our post lunch snack, so I was already quite full, but I wanted to try one savory and one sweet. - Complete: sunny side up organic egg, Brittany ham, Comte, Bordier butter. The crisp edges of the buckwheat were great, and they chose high quality ingredients - Chocolate: with 70% Valhrona - indeed just a plain crepe with melted dark chocolate - simple and great, not too heavy Prices here are a bit more than other places, but they have a ton of variety and use quality ingredients like the Bordier butter. Au contraire, mon ami! Crêpes are wonderful little French gifts to the world and Breizh has mastered the art of making them. This is a charming but very cramped space in the Marais. It's very well run with a young and efficient management who are able to move tables, manage the kitchen and handle an overflow crowd. Most importantly, these people know their craft when it comes to both crepes and cider. We had a variety of savory and sweet crepes. They are beautifully if simply prepared with their corners folded in so the crepe takes the form of a square, but leaving a space in the middle for an egg or some other ingredient to peek out at you. Our favorites were the cheese and egg., the chocolate, and a special Christmas crepe. The table next to us had the flambé which looked amazing (but wasn't set on fire, don't worry). I also appreciate that the management was very kind to us. I made a reservation in advance on La Fourchette but accidently made it for 8:30 PM when I meant to make it for 12:30 PM. Let's start off with the wait: We had to wait over an hour outside in the cold which was pretty rough but my friends and I wanted to commit because of how good the reputation of this restaurant was. We sat in the back which was fine because the seating arrangement fit all of us (the place was pretty small). I ordered the banana and caramel with vanilla ice cream crepe and it was very good. My boyfriend is a savory type of guy so he ordered a crepe with bacon, mushroom, onion, egg and cheese. It was "okay". Another one of my friend ordered a sausage crepe which mashed potatoes and I liked that one a lot. It had a "tripe" texture but I love tripe so I would say it's an "acquired" taste. Good though. Another friend ordered a mushroom crepe. I was not overly impressed with the crepes. I did love the oysters though. That tasted very fresh. After a 3 week trip to Paris this place is now on my "Best of Paris" list. Honestly I don't think I ever had crepes like this before... the only other place I had crepes in France was nowhere near as good as Breizh. First Breizh has a large variety of crepes, both savory and sweet, to choose from. Though you can get some simple and classic crepes they also offer some more flamboyant ones that you can't find in most creperies. I would describe some of them like "crepe pizzas" because they contain a lot of cheese, meat and sometimes sauce. The savory one I had here was with an egg and no sauce... but was still delicious. I have never had a crepe before that felt "heavy" like what this place gave me. Besides their crepes, Breizh also offers a lot of cider options! This, I am guesstimating, is because crepes originate from Brittany and that region is known, like Normandy, for its apples. Regardless of the reason I love cider and really enjoyed what they offered here. Most of their options are in bottles for groups but a few come offered as glasses which is great if you exploring this place out alone. The seating in here is quite limited unfortunately. Though its not close to any super big attractions that I am aware of I think Breizh itself is quite popular to both locals and tourists are frequent patrons. I was able to grab a seat thankfully but it can feel a little Claustrophobic inside. Though its a bit far to get to I would highly recommend this place for crepe or cider fans. Perhaps their are closer chains of Breizh in the heart of Paris for tourists to go to but I can't say whether or not the seating arrangements there are any better. read more

When in Paris...eat where the locals do. Best rule of thumb everywhere, actually. It can be overwhelming to be in a city like Paris, known for its culinary cuisine, to select a creperie, however, in this case, the Breizh cafe is THE place where the Parisians themselves go for crepes. Breizh is a teeny, tiny restaurant in Le Marais, which was formerly the Jewish District, now unofficially the gay district. Location? 4th arrondisement. Victor Hugo's museum is nearby, as well as many chic boutiques. The crepes are square and the batter is whole wheat. The flavors include both savory and dessert crepes, perhaps you would like one with a fried egg on top? The crepe suzette en flambe with grand marnier was exactly as perfect as you would want when visiting Paris. The wine selection is, of course, fantastic. The patrons are all French, so you won't find tourists here, luckily, but the wait staff will allow you to try your broken French, tease you, then jump in and save you. A delightful place - I would recommend reservations, if possible. read more

We stopped in for desert crepes and weren't disappointed! Both of our crepes were excellent. My friend had a caramel crepe with vanilla ice cream and I had the a crepe with chocolate sauce, pears and caramelized almonds topped with vanilla ice cream. My only complaint is that the crepes were a bit thin for all the sauce and toppings and I would've preferred a little more balance in the flavors. A lovely spot for dinner with friends. There are many outdoor sidewalk tables on this quiet side street. The staff provided us with menus in English. Galettes for main and crepes for dessert. Galettes are crepe from Betonne made with buckwheat so they have a nutty flavor. They have savory filling like the one I had, spinach, cheese and fried egg. ( It usually comes with ham, but as a vegetarian I asked them to leave it out.) My table mates had one with mushroom, one with chorizo and one with onion. Everyone was happy. We shared a bottle of brut cider. The service was friendly and efficient, except for the wait time. We were told that there was a technical difficulty in the kitchen. What does that mean? They had to run out to buy more eggs? Dessert was the highlight.
