My view-workers Thai tea - totally filled! My food 80. Bún Bò Huê Pro's - broth was full of flavor - on the spicy side. I like that they give you the lime (really enhances the flavor) The brisket was great too. I wasn't in love with the ham - but that's me. And they give you a lot. CONS: My pile of fat and gristle was ever growing. It really ruined the experience. I had to fish all of that out before I could enjoy the broth. I will not be back - so unfortunate. Was craving pho so decided to check out this place. We ordered take out and the process was painless. We called, made the order, and picked up 20 mins later. We ordered the #20 and #24 pho. The pho was good! Light and clean broth but the depth of flavor was lacking. Wasn't anything special but wasn't bad either. If you are in the area and craving pho then this will do. Food: The clay pot is to die for. The flavors blend in with the hardened rice at the bottom of the bowl. Specifically the Mongolian beef clay pot is one of the best I have had in a long time, the beef and rice, really the entire bowl is mouth watering. We live near by and this is one of our favorites default spots when we need a bit to eat. My partner loves the Banh Mi sandwiches at lunch and I tried one the other day and the chicken was so freshly cooked. My favorite is the Pho Bowl with variety of meats. I never write bad reviews. However, I have to write that I just encountered the worst service at a restaurant that I can remember. I made a point of patronizing this restaurant because it is around the corner from my house and I wanted to support it. I entered the restaurant about 27 minutes before closing. The first waitress came over and said to me "You know we're closing soon". I said yes I know. She came back less than a minute later to take my order and was visibly annoyed when I said I needed a minute. Another waitress headed over to the table and the first thing she said was "You know we close in 20 minutes" I said I was ready to order. The pho came very quickly and tasted fine - I am not an expert but it was hearty and good. As a large party was getting up to leave, two waitresses were standing over them with bus carts waiting for them to leave. They put the plates etc in the bins in a noisy manner. I rushed through my meal and left 6 minutes before closing as they continued crashing the plates into the bins. Typically, when a restaurant closes at 9pm, it means that the kitchen stops serving food, sometimes they lock the door to keep patrons coming in. They typically let the customers finish their dinner in peace - perhaps do some quiet clean up. It seems that to this restaurant staff and owners, closing at 9pm on a Saturday night means that is when they want to leave the restaurant, and they don't care about the experience of the people still eating before the restaurant has even closed. The interior of this restaurant was super cute, lovely decor, and unique setting. I came when they opened @ 1100, and it wasn't busy at all. Service was subpar. Ok, but enough about that, let's talk about the noodles. I'm genuinely disappointed. I ordered a small beef ball pho ($13) It smelled so good and it looked delicious, but it was definitely deceiving. The broth was greasy and too salty for my liking. The noodles also had a weird slimy and chewy texture. I found it difficult to eat. This was my first time coming here and my first time trying pho with chicken and chicken broth so I was worried I was gonna regret not ordering pho with brisket which is what I usually get at other places but man I was so happy with my decision at first sip. The broth was simultaneously so warming (which I needed cuz it was so cold and windy that day) and refreshing with how clean and flavorful it was. The chicken was nice and tender and the price difference between small and large was literally a dollar, so how could you not want the bigger one?! Have been coming here occasionally for a few years and so far, still satisfied with the taste and quality. Bun bo hue is flavorful and has a generous amount of meat. Not super spicy. Spring rolls are good and the sauce is on the sweeter side. Vermicelli bowl is a bit bland looking with iceberg making up the bulk of the veg, could use a bit more aromatics such as Thai basil and mint. And more cucumber. I was shocked today how bad they were today Sat Aug 16th, the waitress was nice enough to say we can remake the dish. She came back to apologize that they gave us a chicken order. I'm sorry to say it was the same dish, she had said she has not eaten it before. Even if it's chicken it was terrible. Tasted like something that was perhaps frozen or cooked quite awhile ago...totally dry. Service was terrible, how do you serve grilled pork chops without giving customers a knife. Indoor set up is nice and spacious. Very open and great natural light. They have two single use bathrooms, they are not the cleanest. Food was mehh. I wouldn't go here again for this reason. The spring rolls were overpacked with lettuce. They just tasted different than most spring rolls I've had. The veggie pho I got I noticed again tasted different and I realized they didn't have vermicelli noodles and they were spaghetti noodles. Which I was just a little confused. Firstly, this review is based on a DoorDash delivery experience. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I wish I had gotten pictures of the packaging and the food itself because wow it's worthy. I ordered the build your own pho bowl with flank, brisket and rare steak. When the order arrived, the broth was still very hot, so shoutout to my Dasher for that, as well as the restaurant for serving it up piping hot. Once I assembled my bowl, it was clear that the portion size was very generous. I took my first bite and was pleased. As I continued and the flavors began to build I was surprised at how delicious everything was. The meat was cooked well, not overdone. The broth had so much flavor and depth. And also they managed my requests for extra veggies as well as extra chili oil on the side. Unfortunately, the bowl was too big for me to finish because I wasn't feeling great. But WOW was it wonderful! I typically order chicken pho whenever I order any because it's been consistent for me. Since I was trying a new place, I figured I'd try everything as new and I'm so glad I did. This is a cute spot in Berkeley with plenty of indoor space, friendly service, and good food. I tried the Bun Bo Hue ($16), which is similar to a Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup. I really enjoyed the flavor of the broth and the firm, chewy texture of the noodles, but the beef was a bit dry and I wish the soup had been spicier. I live around the block, have been here a few times and every time I visit it continues to go downhill. The service/servers are rude and judgmental. I asked for an iced coffee with no ice, they couldn't do that so I asked for light ice, they took that as me being a difficult customer and brought it out as a coffee on the side. When I poured it over the ice it filled up to the middle line. That's unacceptable and for them to be okay with that was unbelievable. (I have ordered this drink before and it fills the top of the handle. This amount is unacceptable and if I had a restaurant I would be embarrassed to serve any customer a half full drink, call it a drink and charge full price. HUGE RIP OFF. I used to bring my friends, parents and others here, but not anymore. And if anyone asks for recs or about Le Pho I will tell them it's a rip off, the pho is good but there's good pho everywhere. Coming from Orange County where there's a large Vietnamese population, and therefore, a lot of Vietnamese restaurants, it's been hard to find a pho place in the east bay that could satisfy my craving. I've tried many places up here but no where has really hit the spot for me, just satisfied my craving somewhat. I wouldn't say that their pho is amazing here or that they would compare with the best of OC's Vietnamese restaurants, but I will say it's the best place I've found up here. Not only is the restaurant clean, but the service is good. The pho broth is somewhat flavorful though you definitely need to add in the condiments here to improve it. The meat is ok and they don't give you nearly enough but the noodles are cooked well and are a good service size. If only I knew earlier, I would have came here more often! It's the closest good pho place around the UCB/Berkeley area! It's a little bit pricey, but the broth is good because it has depth to it. I ordered the grilled pork chops and rice, and it came with fried shrimp cake and fried tofu. It was ALL delicious, but I could've gone without the shrimp cake and tofu. If you're a fan of good hearty soup, quality meat cuts, and don't mind paying a little extra, Le Pho has arguably the best beef pho in Berkeley. BROTH: 10/10 Le Pho is not one of those pho places that takes short cuts on their broth by over-compensating with artificial flavors and fish sauce. You can really taste the bold beef bone flavor and underlying toasted spices in the broth, and that complements the fragrant and fatty meat cuts wonderfully. It's flavorful enough that you don't need extra hoisin or fish sauce in the broth, so I like to just make a lime + hoisin + garlic chili dipping sauce for the meat on the side. MEATS: 8.5/10 I also love that the rare beef is very thinly cut and not too lean, so the fattiness adds some flavor and helps it stay tender even when left in the hot broth for a while. I wish the brisket were a bit thicker though, since the cuts were a bit dry and stingy. Tripe is properly cleaned so there is no unpleasant gaminess. Beef balls have tiny tendon bits and does not have too much starch/filler, though they are a little tough and bouncy. NOODLES AND HERBS: 8/10 The rice noodles are on the softer side, so they are best eaten quickly before they turn mushy. Basil, bean sprouts, and jalapenos were crisp, fresh, and slightly chilled. Not worse or better than most places. SERVICE AND AMBIENCE: 10/10 Service is fast and friendly. The waitress kindly brought over bowls for sharing and a soup ladle even without asking. Store is clean, with airy natural lighting and homey decor. My one complaint is that this place has higher prices than comparable places in the Bay. $18 a bowl is not over-the-top, so for me it is worth the occasional treat :-D read more

Ordered take out on a Tuesday evening. There's not much parking in front, but you can find parking on the side street. When I first entered, I noticed that inside was very warm. The front door could have been propped open to allow for some air exchange. I ordered the tofu spring rolls, lemongrass tofu over rice, and vegetarian pho. Spring rolls were ok and I though they must be really good since so many people post photos of them, the sauce was a bit watery and tasteless. The lemongrass dish was definitely better, I added broccoli which was an extra $2 charge (the waiter on the phone did not make this apparent). Lastly, I ordered the pho, there were lots of veggies but the soup had a weird taste to it. But at least it wasn't overly salty. Overall, food was ready in about 10 mins. Sadly, I have yet to find pho that compares to the places in San Jose/South Bay. I had hope on our way here that it would be above average, because I saw they had bun bo hue. If a Vietnamese resto has less common dishes, like BBH or pho ap chao (also on the menu here), I feel like there's a fairer shot at it being traditional and not trendy or watered-down Vietnamese food. The interior was clean and cute, but nothing to make me worry it was trendy in that way either. I thought I would have a hard time deciding between the combo/dac biet pho and BBH, but my body was craving a soothing and hearty bowl of pho. My bowl was fine, not remarkable. My partner's chicken pho was off: the broth sweet and the chicken somehow both rubbery and stringy, like it had been hewn from a Costco piece and improperly cooked for too long. Everything here was pretty good, especially for a place in Berkeley. The pho tai was pretty standard with good flavor, and the bun thit nuong was good too. The reason why it's not 5 stars was because the price is pretty high for the portion. I rarely finish a bowl of bun thit nuong, but here I finished the whole bowl and was still hungry after, since it was 60% lettuce. I came here with my family after a disappointing day at the Foodieland festival and we ordered pho and bun bo hue. The bun bo hue was really good, but the pho wasn't that flavorful. It was still pretty good and I can honestly say that to this day, I still haven't had a bad bowl of pho. My biggest complaint is the portion size given the price. I believe it was $15 for a large size of pho and even though it looks pretty big in the picture, there wasn't a lot of noodles in there. Luckily, I like bean sprouts so that substituted some of the noodles in there for me. I'm probably just not used to Bay Area prices since I live in Central Valley and I'm used to double the noodles for the same price. During my time in undergrad at UC Berkeley, I struggled HARD to find the best place to get good quality pho. Came across this place one day after a looong night of drinking and needed some recovery, and I never felt happier to find this place. Their broth is so tasty and I can tell they actually care about the flavor of it, unlike other places closer to campus. This restaurant quickly became my go-to for pho (and eventually other Vietnamese dishes)!
