Came here because of the great reviews, but personally I think it's around a 3.5 star. The interior of the restaurant is very spacious, clean, and has a modern/fusion vibe to it. Service is nice but definitely on the slower end. My friend and I shared a bun bo hue and vermicelli salad with grilled shrimp and egg rolls. The bun bo hue was good but definitely not authentic (lacking the lemon grass flavor in my opinion), and the portion was fairly small too. The vermicelli salad was good! I really enjoyed the fish sauce and the fried egg rolls. I'd recommend their thai iced tea too! the sweetness is just right :) Final verdict is that if I'm ever in the area and craving some pho I'd come here again, but i wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

Per Ally Wong, if I do not see a number in the name of the pho restaurant, it must not be THAT legit. Moving here from LA, my husband and I have pretty high standards for pho since we used to do weekly pho dates. Le Pho was the first pho restaurant we've tried in the bay area. The restaurant was clean, and we didn't have to wipe down any of the utensils which was a good change for once! I got the Pho Tai & Bo Vien which is the rare steak and beef balls. The broth was really good and "clear", but the meat was terrible. You can totally tell that these were all frozen meats because of the texture. The beef balls had a weird bouncy texture to it that didn't taste like real meat. The rare steak was so overcooked that it just clumped together and was as rough as sandpaper. We had the fresh spring rolls with pork, large pho (the works), catfish/dill bun ca and Mongolian beef rice clay pot. Fresh ingredients highlight bright and clean flavors. The pho broth was light (very little fat traces) yet full and flavorful of beef essence. Le Pho had some positives and negatives, overall living up to their name by serving a good bowl of pho! FOOD beef combo pho - the usual order for me at any pho place and I thought theirs was tasty! Broth was very flavorful, lots of goodies (beef balls, brisket, etc). chicken wangz - I would pass on these next time to be honest, pretty basic chicken with salt and pepper on the side. SERVICE/DECOR Good across the board, no issues here! Inside looked a bit more like a cafe then a restaurant to me, but it was still bright and open, nice for a casual dinner. Seems like they may have recently raised their prices -- The large bowl was $12, a little more than I usually pay for pho (but I'd say the quality was worth it). The 2-Star Rating is for their food only (1-star for the noodles 1-star for the hot broth) Wanted to try a new pho spot, saw Le Pho was new and open. The waitstaff was friendly and offered water right away. We ordered their shrimp spring rolls and the #20 and the #26. Unlike other pho places, they didn't have a pho with their "everything" combo. The shrimp roll: on the smaller side, but tasted like any average shrimp roll with peanut sauce. It included 3 pieces of shrimp per whole roll, bean sprouts, mint, vermicelli noodles, lettuce. The broth: at least it came out hot. It left much more to be desired. Beef pho broth should taste savory, with a variety of spices to light up your pallet. Their was a lack of aroma. The broth tasted watered down. It lacked spices, and needed more onions. Pho comes with plate of garnishes (veggies: bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime, jalapeños) usually this is the cheapest part of pho - for some reason they are super stingy here with their garnishes. See photo. The noodles: good texture, didn't fall apart or break too easily. The meat: personally I was not a fan. The well done flank and brisket was fattier than I liked. I had the seafood clay pot. I was a little hesitant as it had squid and shrimp instead of fish, but it was beyond my highest expectations. The squid was tender, the shrimp perfectly cooked. The onions and whatever other sauce and flavorings were sweet and savory in perfect combination. Most importantly the bottom layer of rice was crispy without being burnt or crunchy. This is my favorite place to go to for Pho. The broth is amazing. I get the 28 or 29C with rare steak, brisket and flank. It's 10/10 to go or dine in. Although the drinks can be pricey, they're delicious. Service is attentive, gives complimentary water and refills. And decor is cozy and usually not too noisy. read more

I decided to grab something to eat before class today so I ordered my usual meal from Le Pho (chicken wings, rice w/fish sauce). As I got ready to sit down and eat I noticed that there were only 5 wings in my box instead of 7 along with the salt and pepper fixings for my wings. I called the restaurant to inform them that I had only received 5 wings instead of 7 like l normally do. I then noticed the receipt said 1x7 but it should have said 1x5. The manager stated that the wings were "now jumbo sized and that the weight is still the same amount". The wings were not larger than they usually are so I returned the food back for a full refund. Their food is normally good but I gave them a 1 star for false advertisement and the manager not being honest. read more

Was looking for some Pho on my lunch break and came across Le Pho! It's a cute place with modern tables, chairs and nice decor on the walls. It's a little nicer than your average pho restaurant and the prices reflect that as well. The menu is extensive and prices range from $9 and up for a bowl of pho. The beef broth could of used more flavor but good thing they had sauces on the table to add to your soup. The ice coffee is a real eye opener so if you're need of a jumpstart get yourself one of those! The service was great. They even box up your food to go for you. read more

I am picky beyond belief when it comes to quality bun bo hue. I haven't found a spot that makes a bowl that I would eat continuously after my favorite location shut down. That is until I discovered this little gem. Literally the BEST Bun Bo Hue location in the bay area and all of their other food selection was top notch especially the Pho. Only downsize is that the staff is family owned and the younger staff sometimes can be inattentive to their guests during the weekends. The mother and the main staff, however, are amazing. I ordered for delivery on Dec 29. Delivery promised for 30-50 minutes. After 120 minutes I asked for an ETA. No answer. I then canceled the order. They were quick to charge my credit card but apparently unable to give me an order status or tell me they couldn't fill it. Waste of time. Added note: On Dec 30 my neighbor telephoned to say she'd found a paper bag with what turned out to be my order on her front door step at 7:30 am that morning. So apparently somebody brought the order sometime, but it's still a fail since they delivered to the wrong house and didn't text me to tell me it had been "delivered." I could have gone looking if they'd texted me. No deal, and I expect Yelp and Grubhub to remove the pending charge to my credit card immediately. read more

Overall, I would come back to try out the claypots and rice plates. WE had the combo pho ($11) and the bun bo hue ($11), but sizes are small, but still filling. We also shared the catfish spring roll since people have said that it is tasty and it was wonderful. The spring rolls were flavorful and well wrapped. Fish sauce dipping sauce went well with it, and the catfish was perfectly cook, not dry and flavorful. The combo pho had a good amount of meat, and the meat slices were large and the broth was perfect. AS good as monster pho and pho king, and the broth is not sweet. I would have preferred more bean spronts and I wish there was cabbage for the bun bo hue, but both broths were good. I will say that Pho King still has the best bun bo hue, but this place is tasty and only 5 mins away from my place. read more

I've been to the Berkeley location several times and the Phó was really good. I've ordered it to-go before and had no issues. Today I was craving Pho' so I placed my take out order. I got home (only 15 minutes away) and the broth was just warm. I was hungry so I just threw some of the ingredients in a bowl and poured the broth over them. The flavor was bland even after the hoisin sauce and didn't satisfy my taste buds. A few minutes later, my stomach was upset and after using the bathroom I still feel queasy. - Probably Best Pho in East Bay, Solid 4star - Ph Đc Bit is the go-to dish, so much variety of beefs (Pho rare eye round, well done brisket, well done flank, tendon, and tripe) and all so well cooked. They got tenderness; They got flavor; They got texture; They got it all! On top of that, they got the broth right. It's neither oily nor too salty. It has a clean texture and well-balanced flavor between beef and basil. Having traveled to Saigon last year, this place is on par with what I had over there (with better decor and prob better meat). As an avid Vietnamese cuisine fanatic, I am guilty of overlooking this restaurant for a long time. Since we now live in the neighborhood, I figured I should at least give it a try. I would like to give this place 4 stars however I hesitate because there are so many restaurants that serve this type of food and for it to stand out, there needs to be two things 1) Great food 2) Love (serving others). This place has potential. The food is average. Nothing that stands out. The one thing that stood out to me was that the servers, the cashier, and the runners ALL have the same dry and boring personality or "attitude" which really sucks when the food is average you kind of want and hope for them to save themselves with a good attitude and friendly persona. They were not mean or anything just they lacked flavor in their attitude. In other words, you can get the same average food but the service can make up for it. In this case it did not. We waited 25 min until anyone even acknowledged we needed water or anything else. I had to go up to the register and pay. Or maybe I was confused about how they operate,. Maybe they come and seat you and take your order then let you serve yourself water and other things? I don't know, just know this so you fo not expect them to care about refilling your cup. Lol. Cute little Vietnamese place on the corner of Dwight and San Pablo, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I had the #20 and it was a delightful meal. $12 for a gi-normous portion with a good quantity of meat. The broth is probably the most important component of the Pho, and this place had decent broth. So I'm giving it a two stars because I feel shorted I ordered a prawns vermicelli plate for $13 and got three little shrimps not prawns shrimps. Then I had asked if it was possible to get vegetarian rolls that come with it instead of pork and she said yes even went to the back and the cook still gave me pork rolls.
