Green beans

We absolutely loved every dish! This place caters to people who know Szechuan cuisine very well and it's all about the food. You scan a QR code and order from your phone. You can keep adding to your other until you check out. The place is very casual but spacious. We had mapu tofu, tan tan noodles (dan dan noodles), eggplant, green beans and pork dumplings in chili oil. It was a ton of food... more than the three of us could eat, so we took some to go. Everything we tried was perfect. The spices and oils were a celebration of Szechuan food, with plenty of Szechuan peppercorn. Such wonderful flavors! We were so happy we came here. It was a pit stop for us on a drive from Oakland to Antioch... somewhat out of our way but oh so worth it!

I used to come here almost once every week when I used to live in Berkeley. Visited after 7 years. Honestly a little disappointed. But still pretty good. We ordered the sautéed green bean, spicy chicken with Mexican pepper and rice noodles with chicken. The green bean is the star, very very nice. The spicy chicken is ok although chicken is a bit dry. The rice noodles is good albeit bland and we asked for chili oil as a sauce to eat it with. The service is very fast, waiter is prompt and helpful. Looking forward to trying out other menu items. Definitely very authentic Chengdu style food.

Mapo Tofu

Chengdu Style is a staple of Sichuan cuisine in Berkeley. Having been here since before a lot of the newer Chinese restaurants, it's been a consistent place to get solid Chinese food. Some of the highlights are the Sichuan classic Sichuan boiled fish (水煮鱼) which is a large bowl of tender fish slices in a spicy chili broth. Eaten by mixing with rice, you can't go wrong with this dish. Other highlights include the sliced pork in chili oil, which is a cold dish but packs a nice kick with the chili oil spice. Mapo tofu is another one of the classic Sichuan dishes, however, this particular dish is a bit bland and lacks the numbing spice necessary to make it worth-while. Overall, Chengdu Style is a solid spot to get Chinese food. In addition to ordering from the menu, you can also go straight to the counter to get some of the pre-made dishes, making it a quick lunch/dinner option as well.

Chengdu Style has amazing portions for the prices they offer! The toothpick lamb dish was especially tasty, with a nice kick of spice that adds plenty of flavor as it is meant to be eaten with rice. Will definitely be coming back soon!

I ordered the eggplant and it was very flavorful but also oily. The service is average. You order online through QR code. The ambiance is very casual and a good place to go with friends and family.

I love Chengdu Style for authentic Chinese food whenever I'm craving it in Berkeley. They have such a great selection of different dishes and also do takeout

Came to Chengdu Style on Wednesday around noon and it was half filled with students. Most ppl come and order the plate meal from the counter, sorta like panda express assembly line. The interior was clean and bright. There is only street parking. I told the staff that i was ordering from the menu and she directed me to a table. I ordered the boiled fish fillet and the cheng du pork chops (it's more like chopped spare ribs). The boiled fish came in a large portion. There were plenty of fish fillets in the bowl. It was not as spicy as I expected. The boiled fish was delicious 5 out of 5. The ribs were okay since i had way better version of it before in Irvine and in Houston. The ribs were deep fried and then stir fried with spices. I rate the ribs 3.5 out of 5.

The most authentic Chinese food you can get in Berkeley. The food is good, but if you don't/can't appreciate oily food I would ask them for items that are less so. The pork dishes are absolutely incredible! I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a new and interesting dining experience. Service is great, I went with my friend who's a regular and they treated us very well. Ambiance is campus casual.

Lunch with family.

The food is good here. Lots of college students and staff go here to eat. Nothing flashy but its decent ambience. The waitress was friendly but service was very slow especially once your food is delivered , you will have to get their attention if you need refills on your drinks or whatever need may arise.

One of my favorite go-to spots for lunch. Super close to campus with amazing, authentic Chinese food, large portions, and cheap prices. To be honest, the food itself probably isn't 5 stars and more 4 stars. However, I am bias. I love their options, portions, and price. Food is ready super quickly. It's a "lunch line" layout. You can choose 2 or 3 dishes alongside rice, fried rice, or noodles. There is also an option for a side of soup. I normally get a choose 3 lunch special combo - white rice with cabbage, pork belly, and something new. Again, flavors are flavoring and Chinese food is nostalgia-ing. I'm super full after. Often, I have some food for leftovers. See you soon Chengdu Style lunch special. Also, bring cash. It's cheaper with cash.

3. Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Sauce 水煮鱼片 6. Stir-Fried Cabbage 炝炒白菜 20. Braised Pork with Potato 红烧肉

Three dish combo with rice/noodle and a soup. Authentic Sichuan style. Very good deal for a quick but comfort lunch!

Went here with my parents and it was overall a great experience. The food came out fast and really liked the flavor of the Mongolian beef. A bit disappointed with the Sautéed String Beans as they were cooked differently than expected and the beans felt old as well. Overall the flavor was great, service was great, and I would highly recommend if you are looking for Chinese food in Berkeley.

Can someone help us understand the different chili fish dishes? We had a lot of confusion trying to figure out which one is chili fish fillet versus water boiled fish versus fei teng yu. Can someone explain the English and Chinese names for us?

After the long anticipation, I was able block off my calendar and finally try this place on a Friday night. We had a part of 7 and it was more challenging to find a table to fit all of us. Especially with the wait, I would recommend coming here with parties of 4-5 max. The restaurant was mainly filled with students from the nearby college so it's very lively and packed. Usually when my anticipation is high, my expectations are higher and I'm usually disappointed but this did not disappoint!! The broth was so flavorful and the noodles had the perfect consistency of bounce and chew. The meats were tender and on top of that, the portions are huge and very reasonably priced! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but highly recommend the House Special Beef Rib Noodle Soup if it's your first time.

We ordered the beef noodle soup with the 8‑hour broth, the pickled cabbage and fish fillet noodle soup, and a cucumber appetizer. Everything was really tasty, both noodle soups hit the spot with generous portion. The cucumber was refreshing with balanced sesame seasoning. Definitely a place we'd come back to just to try more things on the menu. Highlights for me: The daikon in the beef noodle soup is so soft and flavorful and the portion of noodles they give you. We got the non‑spicy broth with thin noodles, which ended up being super similar to the noodles in the pickled cabbage and fish fillet soup. The pickled cabbage in other bowl gives this extra kick that makes it stand out.

This is hands down one of my favorite spots to grab Chinese food on Solano Ave. and in the area. They also now have some special dim sum items if it's been a minute since the last time you've dined here! Did I mention also a full bar? That was a pleasant surprise! China Village was the first meal I had delivered after I came home post-birth, so it will forever have a special place in my heart :) Favorite items? Pork bao buns, Sesame Chicken Breast (always), Homemade Chowmein with any protein, and there's a dish that I've been thinking about since we've ordered it..Shredded Pork Sautéed with Dry Bean Curd. Would love to actually try the Chicken Breast with Honey Glazed Walnuts, the Cauliflower with Shredded Pork, and more from the dim sum menu. Fair pricing. Service was what you've expected from any Chinese restaurants, effective, but not attentive, which is fine by me. Here are the items we ordered: Spicy fried chicken with chillis: 5/5 one of the best ones in the Bay Area! Definitely a must order dish if you're into this dish. Boiled fish soup with Zi su leaves: 4/5 broth is very flavorful. The fish is a bit fishy. It's spicy and numbing and yummy! Steamed egg: 3/5 standard steamed egg, tasted fine but very expensive for what it is. We ordered it since we have people in our party who don't eat spicy food, and this was one of the few options available. Scallion pancakes: 4/5 very crispy, oily ( I'm not complaining), and also a bit spicy. Stinky tofu: 3/5 the tofu itself doesn't have flavor. You need to dip it in the sauce. The sauce was ok. Wouldn't order again. Fried sweet rice flour sticks with peanut powder and brown sugar: 3/5 this tasted like store bought frozen stuff. I can get this for much cheaper and make it at home. Bing fen: 1/5 this is not the real deal. It tasted like jello with brown sugar. The real Bing Fen is supposed to be chewy, and should come with lots of toppings. Definitely won't get this again.
