78. 麻婆豆腐 / Ma Po Tofu(Hot & Spicy Tofu)
Karen G.

I don't eat spicy foods, but somehow figured out i can handle the attached items. Salt&pepper pork cubes and flounder are always good! We get Ma Po tofu because some of us can handle the spice (we figured out day old is EVEN spicier (that's according to my husband!) The twice cooked bacon is good on day one, but too oily on day two! We've also tried the spicy fried shrimp and that was very good with the sauce a bit numbing. Some people say that the dish can be spicy, but when it's done right it can be flavorful! Give this place a try, don't get deterred from seeing all the red sauce (it may not be too Spicy!)

A really authentic experience that my wife thinks very delicious. Clean restaurant with many different dishes and very sweet and helpful staff. Every time we go we discover a new favorite

This place has always been one of my favorites. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the portions are generous. Even though the owner has changed, the quality of the food is still as good as ever. Highly recommended! My favorite dishes are the shrimp fried rice, pickled fish fillet, and Shanghai rice cakes.

22 Aug, 2025 3.2 stars Consistency matters. We have eaten here about once a month for years. Almost always we order Sizzling Beef and Mapo Tofu. Our last visit the kitchen switched up the tofu and it was missing the expected Sechuan numbing. Today the waitress assured us we would have numbing in our Mapo Tofu. It was a little better. Meh, a bit. The main insult of today's visit was the Sizzling Beef. It was served hobo style on aluminum foil- I'm guessing probably to ease in washing the sizzling plate later. It has zero Sizzling. Check out the attached videos of how the Sizzling Beef was in its prime. What a shameful serving today. I'm afraid this spot will miss out on our $60 a month for the last 15 years for some time.

Starting in June, Sichuan Fusion launched an incredible promotion: if you pay in cash and your bill exceeds $60 (excluding drinks), you get 50% off your entire order. My friends--regulars at Sichuan Fusion long before this deal, were excited to share the news with us, so we stopped by for dinner on a Monday evening. Unlike many upscale dim sum spots or Chinese restaurants that charge a per-person fee for tea, hot tea here is complimentary, which was a nice touch. We came with a large group of eight, which gave us the perfect opportunity to sample a wide variety of dishes. With the 50% cash discount, we were able to order all of our favorites--and then some, without hesitation. If you're a fan of Sichuan peppercorns, the kind that give you that signature numbing, tingling sensation, you'll love the food here. The two dishes where the peppercorn flavor really shines are the Uyghur lamb and the Sichuan fish fillet with pickled mustard stew. If you enjoy bold, sour flavors, the fish stew is a must-try. Every spoonful delivers layers of flavor: first the numbing heat from the peppercorns, followed by a sharp hit of vinegar that wakes your palate right back up. You really need to try it yourself to understand this unique flavor profile. Outside of those, the lamb and fish dishes in general are excellent. We ordered the cumin lamb skewers, and they were on par with those from restaurants that specialize in skewers. The cumin flavor is very prominent, and the lamb is perfectly balanced between lean and fatty cuts--juicy, flavorful, and great in texture. For the salt and pepper flounder fillet, the pieces were cut noticeably larger than what I'm used to, and the seasoning was a bit more restrained compared to the versions you'd find at Hong Kong-style restaurants. I also wish the jalapeños brought a bit more heat to the dish. That said, the fish itself was tender and nicely fried--crispy on the outside without being greasy. Two other dishes I love ordering at Taiwanese restaurants are beef roll pancakes and braised beef shank appetizers. Both were available here, though slightly different than what I'm used to--which wasn't a bad thing at all. Instead of the usual hoisin sauce, julienned cucumber, and chopped cilantro trio of garnishes, the beef roll here was a green onion pancake filled with spicy beef from their combo dish. A different take, but still enjoyable. The fried rice here was also excellent. You can tell it was made using proper technique: day-old rice that separates cleanly, no sticky texture, and cooked over high heat to impart that signature wok hei flavor. Last but not least, we had to order the veggie dish everyone gets at a Chinese restaurant--dry-cooked green beans. We got a double portion for our group of eight, and it was just the right amount. Don't be fooled by the fact that it's a vegetable dish--it's anything but "healthy." The beans are deep-fried, but done so well that they're not greasy. The skin gets beautifully blistered, and the texture remains nice and crisp. I highly recommend checking out Sichuan Fusion while their 50% summer promotion is still running. For the quality and quantity of food you get, it's an absolute steal. Every dish was skillfully executed. Definitely come with friends so you can try more dishes.

How have I not written a review for this place! It is my favorite szechuan spot in the Bay Area. Have been going here for years and it is consistently delicious. My favorite dish is the chongqing style chili chicken with bone which is the perfect blend of crispy chicken (always fresh and made to order) with an addictive numbing peppercorn spice. Pair it with a bowl of steamed white rice and it's absolute perfection. If you only get one dish here, make it this one! Over the years, I have also tried many of their other dishes and have never been disappointed: - Filet fish cooked with tea tree mushrooms: another classic with similar flavor profile to the chili chicken - Shredded pork in hot garlic sauce: my other go-to besides the chili chicken. They use jalapeños which pack quite a kick! - Sizzling seafood with tofu in claypot: braised tofu with assorted seafood in a flavorful sauce Service is always fast and efficient. Easy to order online through their website if you want take-out. Conveniently located inside Pacific East Mall with a large parking lot.

They can cook!!!! All their dishes have the "woke hey" fragrance flavor..soooo good! The Uyghur style beef/lamb is wonderful! But other dishes we tried were good too! One of the few authentic Chinese restaurant (non Cantonese) in the area!

I enjoyed this place for the most part! I found the chicken a little dry, the beef was good and the green was good! I don't know if they're meant to be spicy, but overall felt it was pretty mild / safe for ppl not great with spiciness. It's a cute place, especially during lunar new year. Service is pretty standard, if not a little lacking.

RUNNNN!! Everything is 50% off right now at this restaurant until 4/18! They automatically deduct it at the end of your meal! My favorites is the spicy cold shredded chicken, combo knife cut noodle, and spicy boiled fish! Save yourself some money and stop by for delicious Sichuan spicy food! They also have non-spicy too!

I didn't expect to like this as much since I'm a little sensitive when it comes to spicy food, but I liked it! Good: - Really solid garlic glass noodles with shrimp - not spicy, but great flavoring and tasty noodles with just enough sauce! - The soy milk they give out here is really good if you need something to cool the spiciness away - The spicy noodles are tasty - chewy noodles - The sour and spicy fish soup was really good as well - so soft and tender - The boiled spinach was good in comparison to all of the spicy dishes - Lotus root and beef was tasty but spicy - the beef was so tender Bad: - Takes some time for the food to come out - The place is super casual ambiance wise, you have to be used to Chinese restaurants and speaking Chinese to have the best experience Overall would come again, good authentic Chinese food.

Omg so good! The honey walnut shrimp were the best I've maybe ever had. Really fast service. The spot is tucked away in the Asian Mall. Very traditional Chinese fusion restaurant and atmosphere

A classic in my household for good reason. Extremely oily and salty dishes. Spice is variable and they don't skimp on MSG too. Make sure to have a variety of carbs to offset those aspects. Each dish is a flavor explosion. It's all part of the experience!

Will Y.

Tea smoked duck was very smoky and tender. The pork shoulder reminded me of 5 spice porkbelly with preserved veggies. Sizzling black pepper platter was differnt from the cantonese version and had tasty mushrooms swell. The spicy beef stew was perfect and was my favorite dish. Salt pepper tofu, hand pulled fried noodles and dry fried green beans were also made to perfection no complaints. As some one who grew up eating mostly cantonese chinese food, the differnt regions offer a tasty unique twist. If you want to try unique Chinese sichaun food this place is a must go.
