I love SiChuan Style! I've been supporting their restaurant for over 4 years now and always find myself coming back to this spot. I even introduced this restaurant to my friends and they also love the food quality as well. I recommend their spicy sichuan water boil special. There's a perfect amount of spiciness and flavor that pairs well with a side of rice. I also like their beef shank and tripe appetizer; their portion sizes are always huge and perfect for family style sharing. Servers are very attentive, friendly, and fast. It's also always clean and affordable. read more

Me and the wifey couldn't decide on a place to eat and wound up in Solano Avenue. We looked up a couple of Yelp spots and decided to give this place a try. I am glad we did because I was not disappointed. The place was busy but the service was prompt and excellent. We had ordered three dishes to share family style with rice. First off let me start by saying the portions are generous. All three of the dishes were a hit but to me the star of the show was the garlic chicken. The sauce was excellent! If spicy is your thing then order the beef, it was loaded with peppers! Finally the walnut prawns were nice counter to the garlic and peppers. We also ordered steamed rice to go with the meal. This was an excellent choice and we will most definitely be back. read more

What a surprise! I stopped going to this restaurant before the pandemic hit. I had disappointment after disappointment, both in house and to go. Tonight I was craving good local chinese food and decided to give this place another try. I don't know why. I always felt bad with each previous sad serving. It was terrific! The order was ready on time. The containers were bulging with food when before the servings were getting skimpier and skimpier. The chow fun was not swimming in oil. The cumin lamb was no longer 90% peppers but a generous portion of lamb and a good ratio of peppers. The crispy chicken appetizer was delightful. The dry green beans had a snap. It was such a complete reversal from the last experiences that I'm glad I went back and we will certainly continue to satisfy our Szechuan cravings with this place. I had braced myself expecting in these dire times with many food places closing or gasping with high costs, a less than stellar experience. What a wonderful surprise! read more

Wanted some good Chinese food. I remembered this place although it had been a few years since we had been here. We came in on a Friday night and it was quite busy but nice vibe. We were greeted and seated right away. I was hoping to get a cocktail but they only serve beer and wine definitely not a deal breaker. The pickled vegetables they bring to the table are delicious. We ordered the garlic chicken, beef stir fry and walnut prawns all were amazing. The beef stir fry is very spicy but so good. We are definitely going to make this our go to place now. Customer service was great they checked in on us frequently and made sure we enjoyed everything. We are definitely coming back and I can't wait to try more items. read more

We had lunch on the last Sunday of 2025. Ten of us sat down to a large round table and ordered the equivalent of one dish for everyone. Lunch was family style and we all got a little bit of everything. We had hot and sour soup, Mongolian lamb, eggplant, chow mein, braised duck, steamed and fried rice, and more. Only managed to get a few photos. Looking forward to going again but with a smaller group of people who won't mind me taking photos of everything. Service was excellent and attentive. read more

Wow, wow, wow. What an absolute delight. I haven't had a meal at this restaurant in what seems like forever, but with new ownership, Sichuan Style Restaurant on Solano Ave. is most def making a splash and name for themselves. The restaurant itself is incredibly spacious, and on a Sunday, was also very lively which is always nice to see ~ people out and enjoying themselves & their time off with family and friends over a meal. Food-wise, we ordered potstickers to start, vegetable fried rice, and sizzling black pepper beef. We also ordered a few beers, and to note, wine is also served. Everything was so delicious and even though the restaurant was crowded, that didn't interrupt with service. The potstickers were juicy and crisp, the fried rice was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and I'm still thinking about the black pepper beef. The presentation of the rice and main dish were notable (see pics) and the beef came out truly sizzling with onions, a nice char, and a sauce that was truly memorable. No wonder this spot received a mention in the Michelin Guide. There's plenty of metered parking on Solano, although may have to do a few laps pending the time of day you come. Sichuan Style also has a lunch menu, a sign outside promoting happy hour, and daily specials. The menu is so expansive, there's truly something for everyone. Would love to come back and try a few items from the dim sum menu. read more

I attended a large party here of ~50 people and 5 tables. Restaurant is pretty big and they reserved the entire back half of the restaurant for us. Service was really quick and they refilled our water and tea often. Highlights of our meal include: string beans and fried tofu. Parking on a Sunday afternoon is free and we found parking right outside on Solano Ave for lunch. read more

My friend is a regular at this place and she took me here for dinner. I let her take the reins and she ordered three classic dishes that were extremely delicious with rice. We got chili oil chicken ("Sichuan mouth-watering chicken"), stir-fried beef, and sauteed water spinach (ong choy). I literally could not stop eating. Everything was so good, especially with rice. Nothing was overwhelmingly spicy or pungent, and the flavors of each dish complemented each other perfectly. Service was excellent. Our water and tea were always filled and the owner came by to say hello. I would definitely come here again for more tasty Sichuan food. read more

Sichuan Style Restaurant - Chili oil chicken, sautéed veggies, and stir-fried beef. Complimentary pickled cabbage included as well. - Szechuan Near Me - Berkeley, California

Immediate service. So nice and friendly. The building is older but fun. The food is simply amazing. For starters they brought hot tea and pickled vegetables to the table. The pickle was delicious and unlike others I have had before. Then they brought the dumplings in chili sauce which was listed as dim sum but the portion was large and also included cabbage. They were great. Next came my ma po tofu which may have been the best I have ever had. The valence of male and other spices was perfect. The portion was so generous (9 inch pie pan filled to the brim). Next was the chopped chicken with mixed chilies which we could not stop eating. Then came the tan tan noodles and noodles with spattered oil. Both were delicious. The valence of spice and male perfect and all the flavors well developed. I can't understand why this place is not rated as a perfect 5 stars. The food was great and the staff attentive. We were there on Saturday night and no problem getting seated. Please eat here it is a gem. read more

If you're looking for great Sichuan food, this is a must-visit. With dishes that are packed with flavor and that classic Sichuan numbing spice, this is the perfect place to visit for a meal that will leave you burning on the inside. All of the classic Sichuan dishes are excellent, from the pork belly in chili oil to the Sichuan boiled fish, you'll leave extremely satisfied. On top of great flavor, the portion sizes are very generous - you could honestly get two meals out of a lot of the dishes. With a clean and spacious environment, this is a fantastic place to go if you're looking for a nice night out to enjoy wonderful 'Sichuan-Style' Chinese cuisine. read more

My go-to semi-expensive Chinese restaurant. Does spicy stuff very well. Obviously the wok hei is very much alive with great fried rice. Hunan stir fried beef, fish in chili oil, sizzling rice soup, hot and sour soup, kungpao chicken, etc... All the american-chinese-sichuan classics are rendered flawlessly. It's not going to blow your mind with authenticity or best Chinese food you ever had, but it has that draw that keeps me coming back for more. read more

Exceptional. I've dined in a few times with family and friends, and every time the service has been prompt, food was delicious and generously portioned (and reasonably priced), and overall a good time. So recently we decided to place a takeout party order for 50 people. We weren't really sure what to expect, but Mr. He made it very easy. He enumerated the menu items clearly with transparent pricing, and they accommodated dietary restrictions with no problems. We had some flexibility and he offered great suggestions that ended up being perfect for our guests. He even personally made the delivery and included a few takeout boxes which was perfect for the leftovers (not much left!) Friends were very impressed by the quality of the food, and it made for a wonderful celebration. Thank you, Mr. He and Sichuan Style. 10/10, would recommend! Our order: pan-fried green beans, stir-fried lotus root (veg), mapo tofu (veg), walnut shrimp, chili pepper chicken, steamed rice. read more

We got a cheerful welcome as we walked in the front door. Everything was delicious. We had chicken chow fun, mixed sautéed vegetables, wonton soup and sweet-and-sour whole fish. Not a super fan of the wonton soup but it was fine. Went there a few months ago and the food & service was not as good. I wonder if they are under new management. We have been going to this restaurant for years when it was King Tsin. Glad they have improved because we definitely plan to go again! read more

We used to love this place the first years they were open. Fantastic food, great service. There was a dish we used to get, fish fillet with tofu, that was amazing. However, the last time we got it it had become a watery affair loaded with bean sprouts. The dish was only a shell of its former self, so we never went back. Instead of cheapening the dishes, they should just raise the prices. read more

This restaurant is incredible. My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a month, a few times we have even come in twice in a week... We love the sizzling rice soup, winter melon soup, hot and sour soup, chicken chow mein, potstickers, Chongqing 1000 chili pepper chicken, spicy chili pepper fish fillet, and mapo tofu. If you want delicious Sichuan style food, this is the restaurant for you. You will not regret it. Also, the portions are huge and prices are so reasonable! Owner and employees are always great and super efficient. Love this place! Our favorite local Chinese restaurant; good service, quick for takeout, love the green beans and the water boiled fish in particular.

I'm always on the hunt for authentic Sichuanese food, so Sichuan Style was the next on my list in the Berkeley area. My bf and I came on a weekday for an early dinner and there was no wait. The server was nice and accommodating. I absolutely love spicy food, and this place did not disappoint. Usually, I order the spicy fish filet as a baseline dish to try, and then add some other meat dishes that I'm craving. + Spicy Szechuan Water Boiled Fish: delicious - piping hot with tons of garlic/chilies/green onions on top. I'm salivating just thinking about it, to be honest. Great portion size, and quite authentic in terms of spice levels/numbing/etc. $17.95 + Hunan Stir-Fried Beef: Beef was a tad chewy in some pieces, but for the most part it was delicious and tenderized. Super spicy as well with the green chilies and also came piping hot. $18.95 +Twice cooked bacon cut pork: Classic dish, also very authentic with the sliced green onions, bean curd, and fatty pork. Delicious. $14.95 Rice per bowl $2: We ordered two bowls but as you can see in the photos she just consolidated it and gave us a whole rice bowl. You need tons of rice for these dishes, I definitely ate way too much. I haven't been this impressed by a new restaurant in a while, so I was very excited to get three authentically spicy Sichuan dishes. I had a great meal, and I will definitely be back. I will say that the food is probably much better dine-in because of the nature of the dishes. However, I had leftovers the next day for lunch, and it was still delicious. The prices are also really reasonable for the area as well. read more

I can't believe that this wonderful restaurant is not consistently packed. Our 2nd visit here, we came again on Tuesday August 6th after Visiting Great China on Monday Aug 4th, we were thinking that we will never go back to Great China!! My beautiful wife of 24 years is from China, and she loves spicy food with great flavor and The Sichuan Style Restaurant on Solano Ave delivers that combination. I can't do spicy like my wife & daughter, & I didn't mind at all while the waiter & my wife were laughing at me as my wife asked for a couple of dishes Not to be too spicy for me! The good here is delicious, the beef on the broccoli & beef was so tender, just like the first time we ordered a few weeks ago, the picture in this post is from their bowl of Wonton's in a spicy broth, it was delicious, this was one of the dishes they spiced it down for me, it still had a wonderful flavorful amount of spice , my wife proceeded to order other dishes that excited her, midway through her meal she said, "I'm sweating, this is so good", the inside of the restaurant is clean, & the service is excellent . Thank you yelpers that have recommended this restaurant for it's authentic taste from their province of China, the food here two times in a row was absolutely delicious, we drove about 35 minutes to get here, it was so worth it, our family will definitely come back. read more

very bad taste. This restaurant has nothing to do with Sichuan cuisine. The dishes are too sweet to eat.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 1 Star Food came out in between long waits. We got there at 7:10 p.m. and we're seated within minutes. We got our potstickers about 8. Our duck came about 8:15, then the duck and mushrooms. The soup which should precede or follow the potstickers did not show up until after the mushrooms around 9 p.m. The rest of the order, the lamb and chow mein arrived about 9:15, just before thecrestaurant's nominal closing time of 9:30. Food from the Sichuan Provence is my favorite of all Chinese and I found the dishes here to be outstanding. They kindly accommodated my request for no MSG as I swell up like a Rose Bowl parade balloon and my joints hurt like hell when I eat it. This is a problem for a person who practically lives for Asian cuisine. Their facade is fantastic. Inside was clean and comfortable. I was seated in the windows at a two top as I was alone and it was perfect. I had tea, dry fried green beans and 1000 pepper chicken. Their Chinese peppercorn was the best I've ever had. I loved everything. I can't wait to return to try more dishes. The lychee fried rice sounds intriguing and I'm sure the beef with cumin is mouth watering. read more

The place is less crowded when UCB students are on breaks. The grilled whole fish is a must have. Grilled fish can be premade then reheated at other restaurants. But it is fresh made here. I was looking for some spicy food to spice up my soul and Sichuan Style Restaurant's dishes definitely did that. We were feeling lazy and decided to order to-go. We got the BBQ Pork, Chongqing Chicken and the Dry Sautéed Beef. The bbq was perfectly cooked, flavorful and had just the right sweetness to it. The chongqing chicken was soo spicy but I totally enjoyed it! My only issue was there was so much more chilis than chicken so it was hard sifting through to get some chicken. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well, the chilis added such a nice kick to it. The dry sautéed beef was also very spicy but it was more of a slow burn. Again, flavors were on point and the dish was seasoned well. This dish didn't have as many chilis as the chicken dish but it was still fairly spicy, which I thoroughly enjoyed! It was packed with flavor, you could definitely taste the cumin and it really made the dish pop. Portions were really great, more than enough for two people. The dishes tasted very good even the day after! We will definitely be back to try their other dishes. read more

Definitely will recommend this place to my friends and family. They served really authentic Chinese, Sichuan food. We ordered a fish soup, which is really good, it looks spicy with all the chili peppers, but it is not spicy at all. My husband who doesn't eat Chinese spicy was able to finish all of it by himself. Pretty authentic chinese food with reasonable prices. We ordered bbq pork fried rice (i loved it!), fish and tofu combo, and pork belly stir fry. I wish the fish dish was a bit more spicy but it was still delicious nonetheless. What's really nice about the place is that it's open pretty late and offers a full menu. I often times will forget to eat in the summer because I usually associate dinner with nightfall so having this place open until 9:30pm is perfect. It was only me, so I had the pickled long bean with pork. It's a little salty on its own but with rice it's great. I cannot testify on its authenticity but I will say it was tasty and the wait was minimal once I ordered. The portions are family style so I had enough for another couple of meals. They also serve spicy pickled cabbage to start. Enjoy! read more
