    Two 2 course lunch menu
    Lena Y.

Stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the 2 course menu for 45, which was quite lovely (3 course available for 55). The atmosphere is casual warm French bistro and the menu had offerings of Lyonnais classics that flooded me back to my honeymoon days spent there. This restaurant is located in the Beekman hotel and it connects right from the hotel's beautiful bar, Laissez Faire/Temple Court. It is an absolutely beautiful lounge to grab a bespoke cocktail before heading to the restaurant for an equally lovely meal.

My family and I ate here the other day and had a great dinner!! This restaurant is located through a pretty nondescript side door you can access by going through the lively, library like bar in the Beekman hotel. The interior is gorgeous, with mirrored walls, gorgeous French designs and unique lighting fixtures. We were sat in an intimate booth and served water and asked for our drink orders immediately. My dad and partner had the gin cocktail, XXX, which was strong yet delicious. We also all enjoyed several glasses of wine, champagne and finally my dad hair the red wine pairing recommended with his dinner, the plate of the month. We did note that while service was great (always had our plates cleared, crumbs scooped away, and waters filled), they did sort of rush us to order our appetizers and mains all at once, which is a pet peeve of my family and I, as we prefer to have long dinners and order as we feel like it. That said, the food was a unique take on classic French food. We tried to order the foie gras, but they didn't have it as an app that night, so instead we had the Steak Tartare À La Parisienne, the Escargots Et Pied De Cochin Croustillants and the Terrine. They were all fantastic. The steak tartare had a raw egg yolk which they can mix for you or you can maid in yourself. The escargot is definitely not a classic escargot and instead is a tempura version which could be great for people who are intimidated by standard escargot. They also brought out bread and butter. We also shared the seasonal mushroom fricassée and the creamy & cheesy potato gratin and the French onion soup (SO GOOD). For our mains, I ordered the Poireaux Vinaigrette, which was so unique and felt very "French", and shared the roasted duck, which was cooked perfectly. My stepmom shared the plate of the month with my dad and noted the beet salad, which had lovely, refreshing cold cubes of beets. We had leftovers boxed up and were still too stuffed for dessert. If you love French/Lyonnaise food, this is a great place to come! My dad's plat du mois was the Tournedos Rossini Sauce Périgourdine (filet mignon, seared foie gras, black truffle madeira jus) and it was phenomenal. Cooked perfectly.

Delicious! There is a high bar for French food in this city, but this place competes. Came here for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant wasn't too busy or noisy. The ONLY downfall is that, in order to go to the bathroom, you have to walk into to the Beekman Hotel, all the way to the back, and down a set of stairs. It's almost not worth it. The service could have been a bit better. They seemed a bit snooty and perhaps treated us differently, because I was with some younger folks, but we were dining on a corporate credit card, so they were going to get a good tip anyway. Perhaps a misjudgment on their part. The food was great - we all got the pre fixe menu and shared, so that we could try the maximum amount of dishes. Everything we tried tasted good: the beef tartare was excellent, the pate was great, my friend really enjoyed her French onion soup, the salad was bright and delicious, the burger was great, too. I would absolutely come back.

Had credit to use at one of the Beekman restaurant's during our stay in New York. I was very impressed with the service. We had booked our reservation through the hotel concierge and got to chatting about our plans to go to Book of Mormon after dinner. When we showed up to our reservation, we ran into our concierge who was there to give the wait staff a heads up about our reservation to make sure that we would be able to get out in time. I got the french onion soup and the ribeye. We were there around 5 on a Friday and there was some happy hour portion. I think it was around 6 ounces? Which was perfect. It came with fries and a little salad. The french onion soup was delicious. Rich and cheesy. The ribeye was juicy and the peppercorn sauce was delicious as well.

We went on a Saturday around noon, and there was no wait, the restaurant was about 80% full. I didn't have high expectations at first and thought it would just be another typical French restaurant in NYC, but everything was surprisingly good. Our server was really welcoming. She mentioned it was her first day, and she was absolutely killing it. The portion sizes were huge as well (I mean compared to other French restaurants in the city, I don't think I'm exaggerating. The food leans more toward homey than fancy, which I really enjoyed. You can really taste the flour in their pancakes (my boyfriend didn't seem to like that as much though). The only thing I didn't like as much was the interior decor. The lighting was too dim, they used sharp papers to cover the tables, and the couch was not comfortable (I could feel the metal frame through the cushion).

After some spectacular weekend adventures, we decided on Le Gratin for brunch. This is the signature restaurant of chef Daniel Boulud, located in the Tribeca area of Manhattan. Upon entering one is transported to old France with notable and opulent appointments throughout the space. The open dining room is flanked by gorgeous wood and tile work and adorned with gorgeous ambient lighting throughout. We were seated in a corner booth that provided an entrancing view of the entire space. We began our meal with an order of the Escargot Gratines Au Persil and the Francine Salad. The Escargot were prepared with ample garlic and butter and served simmering with crusty bread as an accompaniment. The salad was a fresh and beautiful mix of frisee, lettuce, thinly shaved carrot, radish and onion, topped with a beautiful housemaid white cheese. Both were delectable starters to what would be a spectacular lunch. For our main courses we selected the Steak Frites and the Branzino. The steak was cooked to medium perfection, tender, juicy and well-seasoned and was accompanied by a generous portion of crispy french fries. The Branzino fillet was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist, bathed in a sinfully delicious beurre-blanc, probably the best version I have tasted and accompanied by a delicately flavored rice pilaf studded with minced zucchini. Craving a bit more green, we also ordered the Haricots Verts a la Ciboule, a green bean dish with an absolutely delightful scallion butter. We finished our meal with the Apple Tarte Tatin. The soft apple caramel atop a luscious cookir, served with Rum Raisin Ice Cream were a delicious denouement!! Le Gratin has pretty big boots to fill with chef Daniel Boulud at the helm, and I believe it does so effortlessly! I highly recommend it for French food aficionados!!!

The ambience was a surprise that it was there especially the area where I saw a skylight on my way to the lady's room. The place is very big. The restaurant was very European. And the food was as usual good quality. I highly recommend.

Great service and waiters checked in if we wanted water or champagne. There was also complimentary bread with butter I came here for burger league and the Le Gratin Cheeseburger (Dry Aged Beef Patty, Caramelized Onions, Tomato, Gruyère Cheese, Boston Lettuce, Peppercorn-Cornichon Mayo). It came with fries. Fries were pretty good. The burger was good but not the best I have had. The lettuce was too big for the burger and sauce was a little drippy so it was a little messy eating it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. If you the bathroom you have to go through sort of a mini maze to get there but you get to go through the beautiful temple of court which has an amazing ceiling. I do recommend going through it at least once if you haven't been before. The bathroom is a little out of the way and would be more convenient if it was available in the restaurant.

Came here for a 5pm dinner on a Saturday. We had a reservation and got there on time and our take wasn't ready since they just open at 5pm. Service was excellent. I had leftovers, about a quarter of the burger and fries. It came with pork belly which i asked to be on the side and also ate later. The burger was delicious but messy. Came with lettuce, tomato, cheese and aioli. Since i had the French onion soup which was very delicious, that filled me quite a bit. I tasted the crème dessert which was like a crème brûlée without the top being charred. The space was exactly like French bistro. The bar area isn't large and by the time we left at 7pm there was about 5 people waiting and ask the tables were occupied. I will say they are quite pricey but their restaurant week menu made it somewhat affordable. My items were only on the regular menu.

I don't know why it took me so long to come here, but so glad I did! My husband and baby took me here for Mother's Day brunch and once I arrived inside the restaurant, it took me back to Paris. The service was good and the food surprisingly was delicious. We ordered the following: - The crab salad was light and refreshing. It wasn't anything special so I would try something else next time as an app - The mussels were my favorite. They were drowned in a delicious broth and the mussels were so plump!. - Steak a cheval ... it was interesting. It reminded me of a Hawaiian loco moco. It wasn't bad but I would try something else next time around. I would definitely be back. This is a gem in FiDi. Also, I love the butter there.

Another DB restaurant in the books for us! This review is my personal experience and of course may not be someone else's so please keep that in mind... The good: the poulet fermier and gratin daphinois, lovely...we even had some leftover we happily took home. The elegant and beautifully decorated interior. The adventure walking to the bathroom through the hotel next door with stunning architecture. The French onion soup! The not-so-good: getting sat at a tiny round table with square paper covers and immediately slicing my knuckle on the stiff paper (my fault). Feeling slightly anxious the whole meal because the square table cover made it hard to see the edges of the round table (we should've moved after the paper cut, also our fault). The steak frites golden hour special was so underwhelming and the fries were mushy. The experience overall could have been better. Also, I don't mind that staff are on their cellphones, it's not a dealbreaker for me but might be for other people. I've literally worked at a "breastaurant" (a long time ago!) that was stricter about cellphones than this casual spot. I think everyone should still come and enjoy, some staff are dry and some are very warm and sweet and the dishes, although pricey--are worth a try. Cheers!

Returned to Le Gratin and had a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. The Foie Gras, Duck and Chocolate Cake from their special Valentine's Day menu were all excellent (all things considered, the menu was also reasonably priced for the holiday). Terrific service as usual and the restaurant was nicely set up for the occasion.

Absolutely beautiful spot for our anniversary dinner! The fixtures, lighting, furniture all come together for a seamless & pleasing French bistro experience. The mixologist served up top-notch drinks, including a delicious take on an Old Fashioned. We started with an amazing beet salad with pistachios & goat cheese dressing. The poulet fermier (half a rotisseire chicken) may be the best chicken dish we've had in years, and it was paired with DB's Mother's potato gratin that was heavenly. We also had their steak frites, and the meat was cooked absolutely perfectly. We topped off the meal with an order of profiteroles (with Gianduja Ice cream & chocolate hazelnut) that was a delight to the senses. Service throughout was outstanding! Daniel Boulud has struck gold here and Le Gratin is one of our very top picks of NYC restaurants. Bravo!

Although I would've preferred to have been seated away from a family with 3 loud, ill-behaved kids, it was still a nice cozy table. On our table we found a nice Happy Anniversary card, which was very sweet! Our server Selma L. greeted us warmly and with a smile. Selma L. was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and remained very available and checked in on us often throughout our meal. I knew I wanted the Escargots en Persillade(my favorites!), and we paired them with Mushroom&Ricotta ravioli, and the Branzino. Every dish was perfectly paired with sauces and flavors blended well together. The Branzino skin was perfectly crispy, the potatoes were a little softer than I'd personally like but were still tasty. We made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chocolate lava cake and the cheesecake and were gifted two glasses of dessert wine and truffles. Everything is made from scratch, in-house. The New York cheesecake stood out ahead of the lava cake but I would order both again. This restaurant is perfectly situated to accommodate you for a pre-show dinner, and offer discounted meals starting at 8pm-close. We'd definitely return to try other menu items, and enjoy another date night, albeit not surrounded by kids!!!

Then came desserts and I had the crème brûlée, my aunt and mom shared the chocolate mousse, and my brother, his girlfriend and my father all had the chocolate lava cake. Out of the three: the chocolate lava cake was #1. Then chocolate mousse then crème brûlée. The restaurant dimmed the lights and had soft music on. The wait time between meals were a bit long in my opinion but it was a small restaurant and they made stellar food and they weren't in a rush to kick us out of the restaurant at all which was very nice. The service was great, they spoke clearly and were ontop of making sure we had tap water and anything else we needed, again they took their time and never made us feel rushed. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in the Hells Kitchen/Times Square area.

Putting the food aside (which was VERY good), the place is beyond charming... like walking into your nonna's living room- and the staff was welcoming. As for the food: everything is "perfect" in a simple, old school, traditional way. No trendy twists. This is a GOOD thing in my book. It has been years since Ive had escorgot that I loved, but this brought me back. I had almost sworn off of it. My steak au-poivre was cooked to perfection and green peppercorn sauce was sublime. The fries were basic but in a good, I dare say perfect, way. My gf had the sole and, altho she says it wasnt earth shattering, liked it as well. The soufle was a bit of a novelty for me but worth a try. This place is Old School New York at its finest. P.S. I cant stand liver or pate but my gf ordered the foie gras (which ive never had) and tho i resisted trying it, I finally did and loved it. I think that says something about the place. She said it was perfect.

We ordered a traditional gran marnier soufflé with our dinner order as it takes that amount of time to make it. I came for the duck confit. It was tasty with the right amount of crispy skin. My sister ordered the Moules Marinieres which I think was the winner. It came with fries and a few small dishes of green beans. The Buf Bourguignon was rich and hearty. I've been craving a soufflé, and I'm not an expert but I wish I hadn't poured all the sauce in as the mariner was fairly strong and almost overpowered the soufflé in flavor. Overall, happy to support a small mom and pop business. You have to call for reservations. No resy or open table.

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. Overall, Maman continues to be my go-to brunch place in NYC, and this visit reminded me exactly why.

Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup…read more I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

I snagged a seat on their upstairs patio, surrounded by the kind of older, well-heeled UES regulars that give the place such a quintessential NYC vibe. I went with the $35 lunch special, which gets you an appetizer and an entrée. For my app, the Escargots de Bourgogne- absolutely the star of the meal, I could've eaten a second order. The Crêpe Forestière for my entrée was lovely too, and I washed it all down with a lemonade. Everything was genuinely delicious. My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. Other than that, it was a perfect NYC lunch, exactly what I was hoping for.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
