Enjoyed an excellent dinner at La Marchande. We had a couple of starters and two mains. The highlight for the starter was the French onion soup had an extremely umami flavor and the perfect cheese crust on top. The beef tartare was also quite tasty. For the mains we had the gnocchi and the steak. The gnocchi was a little over cooked with the inside being pretty tough and very chewy. The steak was cooked to a great medium rare. Our waiter for the night was excellent and had the right balance of checking in on the table and providing space.

Stayed at The Wall Street hotel and sampled food at La Marchande for dinner on Day 1 and Breakfast on Day 2. For dinner, here's what we got: - Jumbo Shrimp (4/5) - this was a special for the night. Meaty and hearty shrimp in a very savory escabeche sauce. - Pull apart bread (5/5) - soft, pillowy, and so hard to resist. Get it! - Tilefish Entree (5/5) - an incredible entree. Perfectly cooked and so well balanced with the accompaniments. Would get it again! - Spicy Pork Rigatoni (3.75/5) - the pasta was not al dente and the sauce was on its way to being spicy but just missed the mark. If you like subtle, this one may be okay for you. The service during dinner was royally slow because of the ratio of servers to diners! That took the fun away and it was a birthday dinner so to be treated with some priority would've gone a long way. Nonetheless, the ambiance and food mostly made up for it. For breakfast the next morning, here's what we got: - Eggs two ways (3.5/5) - asked for eggs to be boiled but they didn't offer any flexibility hence ended up with runny yolks although I asked for it to be medium done. Asked to swap the potatoes for salad. That was not accommodated either. The English muffin, I asked for was good. - Avocado toast with a side of salmon (4/5) - this was mostly good, aside from the bone in our smoked salmon. However, they did show consideration by taking this off our bill. Service continued to be slow during breakfast as well and yet again the vibes and atmosphere served.

Came here with some friends out of town. When they first recommended it, we were dubious because we live in midtown and there are tons of great restaurants nearby. But, we like to try new things so we hopped a 3 train to Wall Street and met at La Marchande. If you don't want to read the whole review, I'll just let you know it was terrific! We walked in and were greeted by the super friendly hostess and shown to our comfortable table. We walked by the bar area, which is gorgeous. The dining room is lovely, with a comfortable and lively vibe. It was about three quarters full when we were there but it never got too loud, which I appreciate. But it also wasn't a library, so having that balance is nice. Our server was terrific. He had a lot of tables and he never stopped hustling. Management, food runners and bus staff worked seamlessly to deliver a wonderful experience. We started with the Parker House rolls which were so good, we ordered more before we'd even finished the first batch! We had some warm beets which were really outstanding. I'm not a beet fan but I liked these. We also had some dumplings and I'll share a secret....save some of your rolls and then dip them in the broth after you finish the dumplings. I could have just had that for dinner and it would have still been five stars! I had steak frites for my meal and it was perfect. The fries were nice, thick fries that were crispy outside and soft and fluffy inside. Really perfect and with the horseradish dipping sauce, they really stood out. I had a couple (okay maybe three) rye old fashioneds and each was excellent. The bartender knows what he's doing. For dessert we had some tiramisu and creme brulee and everything was terrific. I think this would be a great place for a date, a get together with old friends or even to celebrate a special occasion. Visit La Marchande...you won't regret it.

Outstanding experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. Service was impeccable, food was delicious, and the decor was beautiful. Great food, nice selections on the menu. Everything was prepped and plated well, seasoned nicely, and tasted delicious.

La Marchande absolutely delivered one of the best French dining experiences we've had in the city. Tucked away in the Financial District, it's elegant without being stuffy, and everything from the atmosphere to the service made us feel like we were in good hands from the start. We began our evening with the roasted beet salad, which was thinly sliced, perfectly balanced, and so fresh--it set the tone for the rest of the meal. We also shared the French onion dumplings, which were a creative and delicious twist on the classic soup. Think deep, savory flavor in a bite-sized form--so good we could've had another round. For the main course, I went with the filet mignon. It was incredibly tender, cooked exactly to temperature, and generously seasoned without overpowering the flavor of the meat. The portion was just right--filling but not over the top. We rounded out the meal by sharing a few sides: crisp green beans, perfectly golden French fries, and incredibly smooth mashed potatoes. Each one was flavorful and clearly made with care. Dessert was a full-on treat. We decided to go all in and share a few options: the strawberry tiramisu (light and refreshing), the chocolate soufflé (rich, airy, and deeply chocolatey), and the crème brûlée (classic, with the perfect crackle on top). Each dessert stood out on its own and didn't feel like an afterthought. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the night. You can tell the staff really cares about the guest experience here. We never felt rushed, and our server had great timing and helpful recommendations. We're already planning our next visit--and bringing friends. La Marchande is absolutely worth a spot in your rotation if you love well-executed French food in a refined but relaxed setting.

I ended up going to La Marchande, twice, during the week of October 21st, on a Tuesday and on a Thursday, 2024! The food and service here is delicious! It's one of the best restaurants I have ate at in the Financial District. My colleague and I had reservations, on both days, at around 12:00 P.M. When we walked in, there was no wait time. The team member took us back to our booth area. It was so quiet and the restaurant is stunning! We ended up sitting in the same booth area both times that we ate at La Marchande. We typically had a party of 6 on Tuesday and 5 on Thursday. The service was outstanding! We had a few team members assist our table with refilling our drinks and bringing our order to our table. The first time I visited La Marchande, I ended up getting the Filet Mignon, Medium-Well cooked, no sides. We did order a few appetizers such as the French Onion Dumplings (Truffles, Gruyere, Mushroom Consommé) and the Brioche Pull Apart bread (Scallion Crème Fraiche). The team member brought out the appetizers first. The French Onion Dumplings was amazing!!! We ended up ordering this again on our second visit. This was actually recommended by one of the team members from La Marchande. I am so glad we ended up ordering it! The Brioche Pull Apart Bread was delicious! The bread was so soft and warm. The crème was really good! The steak was delicious! It was heavily spiced though! On my second visit, I tried something different. I ended up getting the La Marchande Burger instead. It was a prime-beef burger with gruyere and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly! It was juicy, and cooked medium-well! I'd order a burger again from La Marchande! The French Fries reminded me of steak fries, and seasoned with just the right amount of salt! The food was delicious and the service was great! I'd highly recommend visiting La Marchande if you're in the financial district and looking for an amazing meal!

I will return for the pull apart bread ALONE! Came in for Christmas Eve Dinner and the food was really good. Sadly because it was a special day, it was a pre fixed menu so I didnt get to really try out other things I've had my eye one, but I really enjoyed it. I got to try their bread, chestnut veloute, duck egg raviolo, Halibut and wagyuu short rib. The short rib was just ok, felt like it was a little dry but the flavors where nice. The fish though, WOW WOW WOW I looved this dish. The place if beautiful and the presentation of the dishes was really nice. It was a TON of food and we had to take our dessert to go because we where stuffed. The staff was really nice, but service was a little slow probably because it was really packed but I will be adding it to my regular spots.

We were here for Mother's Day lunch and the experience was just okay. We were seated, given the menus, and then for ten minutes no one checked on us. We saw other tables being served but those servers never looked at us so we didn't wave them down. Eventually someone came, and we had our drinks ordered. The menu's $95 per head and a small buffet's included. The buffet food was generally okay but some of the food wasn't fresh, for example, the ham was dry and hard, and the fish roes on the eggs were also dry and hard. The smoked salmon and prawns were okay though. I also tried the ceviche but to be honest was a little hesitant because it didn't look very fresh. For some reason there was a noticeable shortage of tongs at the buffet table, we had to grab tongs from other dishes to get some of the food, and there were no spoons to get condiments. The shortage of cutlery was also felt at the table. We had the appetizers, and then our cutlery were taken away, and they were not replenished. I couldn't find our server for the longest time so we had no cutlery to eat the entrees with, and eventually grabbed from the next table. This is rather unacceptable for a hotel restaurant. The entrees were fine, the usual brunch fare. The drinks were also mixed well. After the entrees, our cutlery were of course taken away, and again they were not replenished. We had no cutlery to have dessert and fruit with. Our server was friendly but appeared to be rather absentminded.

This was the perfect location to catch up with a girlfriend. We did not have a reservation but were able to get a table and have bites with bubbles. I enjoyed the lobster bites. The server was great! He kept my glass overflowing all evening. This location was perfect for intimate convo with the lighting slightly dim giving a sense of privacy. The decor was chic, classic, and comfortable.

(5/5) Having eaten here three times now and recommended it to friends visiting from out of town (who raved about it!), La Marchande is among my absolute favorite restaurants in Fidi. From the warmth of the service and the softly lit interiors with cozy booth style seating beckoning you in, to the variety in the menu that brings some instant favorites, La Marchande is the full package crowd pleaser with dishes that will please not only the eyes but also the palate. Would like to give a special shoutout to Abe who's served us twice and exudes hospitality! He also has a wonderful way with words when it comes to describing dishes we asked about, truly bringing the menu to life as he went over the flavors in the dishes down to the details of the garnish. We were tempted to order almost everything he described lol. Now onto the food - at this point I've eaten probably half the menu, so here's the rundown! Apps: + Milk Bread (5/5) - Simply *the BEST*. We have and will continue to order this every time I eat here. So fluffy and warm and the Scallion Crème Fraîche pairing is perfection. + Crispy Octopus (5/5) - Another must order, super crispy and well paired. A crowd favorite. + Buttermilk Fried Calamari (5/5) - A new addition to the menu from our third visit. Was really impressed by how thinly coated the calamari was, offering a delicate crunch that still lets the seafood shine. The aioli is made in house and is a delicious pairing. + King Salmon Carpaccio (5/5) - The maple soy was really refreshing to have on the carpaccio (I typically see variations of some kind of citrus vinaigrette), sweet and savory goodness + Squash rigatoni (4/5) - Surprisingly great!! Wasn't expecting much considering this isn't an Italian restaurant but the pockets of squash puree that get nestled in the rings of the rigatoni were so delicious. + French Onion Dumplings (3.5/5) - Dumplings were great and packed with flavor but I wish the french onion soup they were bathing in was less concentrated and more drinkable. + Caesar Salad (3/5) - Solid but not remarkable, tad salty. Truffle Pappardelle (2/5) - maybe was an off day, was too salty unfortunately Mains: + Wagyu Boneless Ribeye w/ au poivre sauce (4/5): Cannot expect A5 levels of melt in your mouth but was tender and well seasoned. Would not skip eating the fried rosemary it comes with!! Convinced the table this was not simply a decorative element but really enhances the flavor of the steak :) Also highly recommend the au poivre! + Hanger steak w/ chimichurri (4/5): Liked this more than the tomahawk + Tomahawk ribeye (3/5): Made me realize that I definitely prefer dry aged steaks flavor wise + Ora king salmon (4/5): I would ask for medium rare, the second time we ordered it the fish was less tender than the first even though we asked for medium both times. Couldn't get enough of the squash puree that accompanied it. On third visit the puree is now some kind of pea puree with morel mushrooms but still delish! + Grilled Lamb Rack: I honestly cannot remember this dish super well because I had gotten so full when I tried this one lol but think the folks around me enjoyed it. Generous serving size, came with 3 racks. Sides: + Asparagus (4.5/5) - tasted fresh, loved the char and zest on it + Lamb fried rice (4/5) - was not expecting the asian fusion here, but the chili crunch worked well (on my third visit I see this is now off the menu sadly) + Cremini mushrooms (3.5/5) - Solid, liked the little crunch coating the belly of these. + Roasted brussels (3/5) - pretty standard flavor wise with classic caramelization, but as this dish often is, was too salty for my taste Dessert: + Pecan Paris-Brest (3/5) - Certainly a large portion (can imagine sharing it with up to 8 people, would not recommend ordering if only a party of 2) but not my favorite variation of a cream puff. Liked the candied pecans but overall bit too sweet for me. Drinks - light and refreshing, would order both again! + Bon vivant + Quelque Chose de Vert

Housed within the 18th Century Stock Exchange Building, La Marchande is indeed a gorgeous place. We breakfasted here recently and found our selections delightfully flavorful. Juice is fresh-squeezed. I ordered a most delicious Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon. My companion enjoyed his Eggs Benedict too. Our server, Oscar was attentive. Do know that when offered "still" water, you will receive bottled water at a price ($11). If you are fine with TAP WATER, be clear about it. Also, I asked for an Americano coffee with an Extra Shot of espresso. I received a cup of something that looked like poorly stirred instant coffee that was very weak. At $8 a cup, that was a miss. All in all, our party enjoyed their food and as long as communication is clear and the coffee ordered is simple, you should be fine.

Food was excellent, especially the rolls that keeps us coming back! We were a party of seven and they put us in one of the benches that made it feel extra special. Our server was really great, except they may have forgotten one of our wines that we had to ask for it three times... Otherwise the experience was great it was a beautiful place to have dinner.

This sits on the opposite side of the stunning hotel & cafe. I was brought here because the cafe was at capacity, with only reserved seats remaining waiting for guests to fill. Who knew a cafe accepts reservations - wow hate that - they should be moved to this restaurant. Anyway, I was sat in what I later was informed was the bar section of LA Marchande & was able to take my two quick biz calls here over an order of fries. I was bummed because the fries here weren't the same yummy, skinny fries from the cafe side even though they share the same kitchen! I was so excited to order fries just to be disappointed seeing they were different. The mustard sauce served on the side was interesting yet nice. Loved the ambiance and crowd. Loved the restroom decor! Picture worthy. Go, enjoy!

The branzino was ok. Nothing to write home about. My wife got the chicken - WAAAAAY over-fried. Dry as a bone. Mashed potatoes and hericots verts on her dish were delish! Profiteroles for dessert were good as well. It was an ok meal but not worth the price. Probably would not return.

It was a large and comfortable space. Just surprising that it was somewhat empty for a Friday theater night. A bit of a touristy feel at first, has to do w/ the fact it's in Time Sq and in a hotel, but the food was definitely not touristy. I had the 1605 signature salad and the crab cake entree. The salad was tasty and well constructed, but small on portion size. The crab cake was the best crab cake I ever had, even better than Obrycki's in Baltimore, chock full of crab, not much filler at all, and good blend of spices. My friend had the onion soup, the grilled watermelon salad, and the mac/cheese. The onion soup was decent, good amount of cheese and the bread had still a crunchy edge, but soup base a tiny bit on the salty side. The watermelon salad was pretty on the plate, tasty, but again, small portioned for its price. The mac/cheese was ok; the cheese they used was overly pungent. If they just stuck w/ a nice cheddar, it would have been better. The neighboring table ordered the chicken pot pie and the skirt steak; both looked delicious. I would definitely go back for the crab cake and maybe try the pot pie. The prices are affordable for each item, btwn $14-32. If you just want to order one thing, avoid the salads; they won't be filling. But if you're going to order more than one thing, then it can easily be over $30/person. The restaurant.com certificate definitely helps. They also have a pre-theater prix-fix 3 courses for $25 that seems like a good deal.

Yes, that's a lot of tuna. I will say that I am glad that I had both because I was able to taste the differences between the two dishes. Although next time, I will likely choose one or the other. First the appetizer tuna. It is like a tuna tower. Avocado with tuna on top with a ponzu sauce on the bottom. The ponzu sauce is the AMAZING. It is so delicious. I could not stop eating it. The tuna bowl was light and refreshing. If you are not in the mood for normal Parisian fair, this is a nice alternative. My lunch date had the beef bourguignon. It was very tasty and was served with a side of mashed potatoes. This is made with short ribs and needed a tad bit of salt and I would have liked it with a bit more sauce. But overall, good. Lastly, we had the creme bruelee. Perfect sugary crust with creamy center. We shared a bottle of wine that I believe to be reasonably priced. Our waiter had very good suggestions; checked on us on a timely manner. We went in for a very late lunch (around 3 p.m.). Restaurant was not overly busy but the bar was full. The restaurant was not too loud so it would be appropriate if you were looking for a place to work or just have a have a quiet time to relax.

The staff was kind about it, though! Not their fault, I know it's policy. The chocolate mousse cake was very good!! That one was worth it and I would get it again. The Belgian chocolate brownie was fine but the paper was hard to peel off and the flavor was a little lacking. Just didn't have a lot. There was also a giant air bubble at the bottom :( I would've stick to a cake!

The dining of course was wrapped around the corner. The Bar line was only 5 people deep. The restaurant opens at 1230pm, i came up around 12:55. Earlier the better people! We went upstairs and it was a bit cramped so we walked downstairs. We had to standby about 10min for a barstool till we were seated. Menus were brought out promptly. Your basic american food selection. Burgers, salad, pasta, etc. We had just eaten so we ordered cocktails. Delicious. They have an assortment of holiday drinks or just wine or beer. Service was good. However, that's pretty much all I have good to say about this experience. There was so much pork on the list that my options were limited. I got the eggs with avocado and side salad. I asked for the potatoes but either they had gluten in them or there was a misunderstanding. I also got the hot tea. Unfortunately, this was the worst breakfast I've ever had. The eggs tasted like they put the uncooked chicken juice from the pack on top of it. They had the weirdest taste. One bite and I was done. The salad was bland. Tea was good, at least. At least it was in the vicinity of good breakfast spots.

The waitstaff opted to greet, offer and bring water to the table next to us before ever acknowledging us. Eventually we were able to order a Bordeaux, cheese puffs, steak tartare and beef bourguignon. Steak tartare was okay, somewhat under salted and definitely over sauced. They don't give enough toast for it. But the real issue was midway through our mains we were asked to switch tables so it would be more convenient for the table next to us. We declined as the is is an absurd ask midway through our dinner, I was literally mid bite. We ordered dessert which was fine. Profiteroles, tasty, simple. When it came to the check the server brought the wrong check and we paid, he then realized afterwards it was the wrong check- ours was 7 dollars less. He said he voided the first set and recharged for the new amount, except he never actually voided the initial charge, I had to reach out 4 days later and request a refund. All things I should not have had to deal with. Crappy service and a poor experience won't be back!

The Warwick Is a Lovely Hotel. Its Continental Breakfast Is an Embarrassment to Everything the…read moreHotel Stands For. Let me be fair before I am critical: the Warwick Hotel on 54th Street is a genuinely nice property. The rooms are well-appointed, the location is excellent, and the overall experience of staying here has been a pleasant one for our family of four. The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel have been courteous and professional. Which is precisely why what passes for a continental breakfast at Murals on 54 is so jarring and so difficult to overlook. The contrast between the quality of the hotel itself and the quality of what is being served at breakfast is stark enough to warrant a review entirely on its own. We received complimentary breakfast vouchers for four guests, valued at $24 per person, as a courtesy after our room was not ready upon check-in on Monday afternoon. We appreciated the gesture sincerely and understood that delays happen. What we did not appreciate was discovering what $24 per person actually buys at this restaurant, and what it communicates about how seriously the kitchen takes its responsibility to the guests it serves. The pastries were stale. Not slightly past their peak, but genuinely stale, the kind of stale that suggests they were not baked that morning or perhaps even the morning before. The croissants, which should be the centerpiece of any respectable continental breakfast and a point of quiet pride for a hotel of this standing, were rock hard. A proper croissant should shatter delicately at the first bite, yielding buttery, laminated layers that dissolve almost immediately. These required effort to bite through. Serving hardened croissants at a hotel of this caliber is not a minor oversight. It is a failure of basic quality control that any competent kitchen manager should catch before a single plate leaves the pass. When the most fundamental item on a continental breakfast menu misses this badly, it sets a tone for everything that follows. The "fresh juice" was not fresh. It was bottled, made from concentrate, and tasted exactly like what it was. In a city where fresh-squeezed orange juice is available on virtually every corner and in nearly every diner and café within walking distance, describing bottled concentrate as fresh juice is misleading at best and quietly contemptuous of the guest at worst. The word "fresh" should not appear anywhere near a product that arrived sealed from a distributor. This is not a minor semantic quibble. It is a misrepresentation of what you are being served. The yogurt was Chobani, presented in its original retail cup, placed on a plate and brought to the table. A cup of Chobani yogurt retails for well under $2 at any grocery store in the neighborhood. There was no granola, no fresh fruit, no honey, no accompaniment of any kind, and no presentation whatsoever beyond the cup itself sitting on a plate. It was a grocery store product served in a restaurant setting at a restaurant price, and there is simply no graceful way to characterize that as acceptable for a hotel of the Warwick's reputation. We are genuinely grateful that the vouchers made this meal free for our family, because $96 for four people for what we received would have been indefensible and infuriating in equal measure. The Warwick Hotel clearly holds itself to a high standard across every other dimension of the guest experience. The rooms are lovely, the service throughout the property has been warm and professional, and the hotel carries itself with an elegance that its history warrants. Murals on 54 is not currently living up to any of that. We would sincerely encourage hotel management to revisit the continental breakfast program before more guests are asked to pay $24 a head for stale pastries, bottled concentrate, and supermarket yogurt served without even the pretense of presentation. The hotel is genuinely better than this. The breakfast should be too.
