Hands down one of the best burgers I've had in New York, the scallion aioli sent me to heaven and back! Also absolutely loved our cocktails, very well made. The most important: amazing staff that made us feel welcomed and made the experience so lovely. Brought friends visiting from out of town and will definitely be coming back.

Murals on 54 is an excellent spot that can satisfy both western and Asian food cravings at the same time. On the one hand, their Shaken Steak was true to its name and had an even and thorough sear that enveloped a delicious and tender medium rare interior. The Thit Bo Steak Frites also didn't take a back seat when dressed beautifully with the bone marrow butter. On the other hand, Murals on 54 offered more "traditional" dishes like their Saigon House Pho, Chicken Satay Skewers, and Spring Rolls. This culinary package, served in the historic Warwick Hotel, surrounded by beautiful murals is definitely an experience we would love to try again Photo credit: @nyc_piggie (Instagram)

I just had one of the best vietnamese meals for dinner here. The place is beautiful, the murals (hence the name) were made in 1926 by American artist and illustrator Dean Cornwell and they are breathtaking. Service is flawless. I am amazed!!

It was a large and comfortable space. Just surprising that it was somewhat empty for a Friday theater night. A bit of a touristy feel at first, has to do w/ the fact it's in Time Sq and in a hotel, but the food was definitely not touristy. I had the 1605 signature salad and the crab cake entree. The salad was tasty and well constructed, but small on portion size. The crab cake was the best crab cake I ever had, even better than Obrycki's in Baltimore, chock full of crab, not much filler at all, and good blend of spices. My friend had the onion soup, the grilled watermelon salad, and the mac/cheese. The onion soup was decent, good amount of cheese and the bread had still a crunchy edge, but soup base a tiny bit on the salty side. The watermelon salad was pretty on the plate, tasty, but again, small portioned for its price. The mac/cheese was ok; the cheese they used was overly pungent. If they just stuck w/ a nice cheddar, it would have been better. The neighboring table ordered the chicken pot pie and the skirt steak; both looked delicious. I would definitely go back for the crab cake and maybe try the pot pie. The prices are affordable for each item, btwn $14-32. If you just want to order one thing, avoid the salads; they won't be filling. But if you're going to order more than one thing, then it can easily be over $30/person. The restaurant.com certificate definitely helps. They also have a pre-theater prix-fix 3 courses for $25 that seems like a good deal.

Yes, that's a lot of tuna. I will say that I am glad that I had both because I was able to taste the differences between the two dishes. Although next time, I will likely choose one or the other. First the appetizer tuna. It is like a tuna tower. Avocado with tuna on top with a ponzu sauce on the bottom. The ponzu sauce is the AMAZING. It is so delicious. I could not stop eating it. The tuna bowl was light and refreshing. If you are not in the mood for normal Parisian fair, this is a nice alternative. My lunch date had the beef bourguignon. It was very tasty and was served with a side of mashed potatoes. This is made with short ribs and needed a tad bit of salt and I would have liked it with a bit more sauce. But overall, good. Lastly, we had the creme bruelee. Perfect sugary crust with creamy center. We shared a bottle of wine that I believe to be reasonably priced. Our waiter had very good suggestions; checked on us on a timely manner. We went in for a very late lunch (around 3 p.m.). Restaurant was not overly busy but the bar was full. The restaurant was not too loud so it would be appropriate if you were looking for a place to work or just have a have a quiet time to relax.

The staff was kind about it, though! Not their fault, I know it's policy. The chocolate mousse cake was very good!! That one was worth it and I would get it again. The Belgian chocolate brownie was fine but the paper was hard to peel off and the flavor was a little lacking. Just didn't have a lot. There was also a giant air bubble at the bottom :( I would've stick to a cake!

However, that's pretty much all I have good to say about this experience. There was so much pork on the list that my options were limited. I got the eggs with avocado and side salad. I asked for the potatoes but either they had gluten in them or there was a misunderstanding. I also got the hot tea. Unfortunately, this was the worst breakfast I've ever had. The waitstaff opted to greet, offer and bring water to the table next to us before ever acknowledging us. Eventually we were able to order a Bordeaux, cheese puffs, steak tartare and beef bourguignon. Steak tartare was okay, somewhat under salted and definitely over sauced. They don't give enough toast for it. But the real issue was midway through our mains we were asked to switch tables so it would be more convenient for the table next to us. We declined as the is is an absurd ask midway through our dinner, I was literally mid bite. We ordered dessert which was fine. Profiteroles, tasty, simple. When it came to the check the server brought the wrong check and we paid, he then realized afterwards it was the wrong check- ours was 7 dollars less.
