During our 4 day stay at The Lotte Palace we grabbed breakfast a couple of times as we had a $100 daily credit credit. While the physical dining area and restaurant is quite nicely decorated and has a nice aura about it, the cost of this place for a simple breakfast is criminal and to be honest completely ruins any positive feeling one may have about the place. $51 for two eggs, 2 little sausages, a few potatos, some toast and some cofee. $12 for half an avocado! Service is "professional" though I wouldn't say very friendly and as others have said more transactional. They politely offer you orange juice or grapefruit juice as you sit, not indicating it's almost $10 for a small glass. During our stay in NY we ate at Michelin rated restauarants which were cheaper than this!! If you can get over the prices, the food is actually pretty good. They know how to cook their eggs very and the basic egg can be a tricky thing to get right at some places. read more

I mean you are little almost on top of the guest next to you. Very uncomfortable. The decor and design is AMAZING!!! Service: great!!! Their menu is small. Not much to choose from. If you don't like variety, this will work for you but if you like variety like me, you'll struggle. I had the quiche daily. It was good. Their potatos are good. I ate it without any condiment. Be aware! They include the gratuity on the bill and they don't tell you. My Mom double tipped several days before she realized. That's not good. Great place for breakfast if your staying at the Lotte Palace. The dining room was very ornamental with very high ceilings, dark wood walls and intricate carvings at the top. Service was attentive, reception was very friendly and food was excellent. This isn't a very large restaurant so they recommend reservations. We had shakshuka which was very good but only contained one egg and a quiche which was amazing, I highly recommend it. We also had a bowl of berries, with a coffee and tea. Unfortunately we did not have a great brunch experience. The second we sat down we were greeted by a waiter with a jug of orange juice. He basically started filling our glasses before we had answered if we wanted it. Because it happened so quickly, we all sort of assumed it was complimentary. The orange juice itself was delicious and fresh squeezed however, when we read the bill and found out that each tiny juice glass was a whopping $32 we were sickened. No orange juice EVER should cost that much, it truly felt like robbery. We felt a bit taken advantage of as there was absolutely no warning of this ridiculous price. Overall the food itself was good. Our server and bus boy were very responsive to requests and when pouring water he spilled ice in a coffee and without prompting immediately grabbed the coffee and replaced it. Very nice. I got shakshouka. It was quite good with a great tomato base, good sausage throughout to add a little meat to it. Would've been amazing to have added a little hot sauce too now that I think about it. The good is really good here but organization and service leaves a lot to be desired. Long wait to be sat for breakfast even with reservations. Server was MIA so we asked another server to take care of us and he did a great job. We sat near kitchen and it seemed pure chaos. We made a last minute reservation. We were seated very quickly. They brought juice & coffee right away. We got our orders placed. I ordered an omelet (without cheese-allergy) that came out partially cooked, I requested it be cooked further. When it came back, it had cheese in it. Very disappointing. The server never even came back to check on the meals. Overall, food was basic, nothing special at all. We requested our check & it took so long to come get our payment that I went and waited in the hotel lobby while my husband waited for the server. Our check for 4 people was $241. This might be the worst experience for the price. It is a neat space, but there are a lot of neat/nice spaces. I would give it less than a 3 star, but the rest of family's meals were correct. I feel compelled to give you some feedback. Firstly, it took a while to be seated. We were left standing without the hostess communicating to us what was happening, despite having made the booking weeks ago. I had to ask 3 times for apple juice. When it eventually arrived, it certainly was nothing special. For that price I'd have expected it to not be from concentrate. We waited for approx 15 minutes until we got coffee. There was no butter with the toast. That eventually turned up at the end of eating. My husband ate his toast dry with no butter. Our waiter/server was brusque and distracted. Therefore inattentive and showed no warmth in manner. At that price point breakfast needs to be exceptional and it was nowhere near that! Unremarkable and hugely disappointing. When you set prices like you have, clientele have an expectation of exceptional service and food but instead you delivered decidedly average food and frankly poor service. read more

This cozy, elegant restaurant is on the mezzanine level of the Lotte New York Palace Hotel. Its high ceilings, dark, wood-paneled walls, and tall windows lend themselves to a classic, old NYC dining experience. Actually, had they had a fire burning in that large fireplace, the setting would have been absolutely perfect. Service was polished, professional, and attentive. The brunch menu offered several classics, and all three of us opted for the omelet. I felt mine was a bit overdone with far too much "browning" on the outside. It was also quite dry and bland. The gruyere was lovely and beautifully melted. I had a side of sausage links, and they were delicious. My friends were staying at this hotel, which is why I met them there for brunch; however, given the plethora of brunch options available in the city, I'm not sure I would return. read more

Had breakfast at Villard and for $240 for 4 people, I expected much better service. First off, when we arrived at the front door, there were at least 3 doormen out front and none of them bothered to step up and assist us with our luggage or open the door. They stood there hands folded and continued to converse amongst themselves. We sat down in the restaurant and asked for an assortment of coffee and various juices. The juices came at varying times, and when the coffee arrived, one of them was set in front of the wrong guest. We made a comment, to which the server said "give me a second I only have 2 hands". Wow, how rude! The server could have used a tray or made 2 trips if he couldn't hold all the drinks. The food was ok but nothing to brag about. Go for the room, not for the food or the service. We arrived around 8:30, and were seated in about 10 minutes without a reservation. We were immediately served coffee and juice but things went downhill from there. It took 10 minutes to get refills on our coffee, in spite of 3 servers moving around the room. A party of 2 that arrived after we did were served before us, and our order did not include any complicated prep (eggs for 2 of us, yog and rolls for the others). My omelet arrived cold and without any evidence of the gruyere listed on the menu. Breakfast was $200. Again, the room is magnificent, but the gilded age setting and prices are sadly undercut by the actual experience. I don't think I've ever eaten in a more stunning hotel restaurant. There is so much detail and elegance in both rooms I was constantly staring around me in awe during breakfast. The food here is fantastic and will have you full for a busy day. My husband and I tried the American Breakfast, Avocado toast, Lemon pancakes, popovers, and bananas foster beignets. Everything not only looked beautiful in presentation but it tasted top notch. The wait staff were so attentive, classy, and kind. We enjoyed the atmosphere and choices but didn't appreciate the service as much. Had breakfast for the first time here. I have always admired the building from afar so when I was invited for brunch, I jumped at the chance. The room itself is a work of art. So much history. Beautiful space but....My partner and I were having a business meeting here and the acoustics were completely off. The music was SO LOUD we could not hear each other and the people we were meeting with. That's not the worst part. I ask the waiter to if he could turn down the music as it was as loud as a night club and he says that he doesn't control but he will ask his manager. He goes over to the other side and just stands there like a dumb*** and doesn't follow up. He's there talking to another waiter and they're just chatting with each other. Then he realizes that I'm staring at him and he decides to go stand behind the door, but the other waiter is in plain site, still talking to him and looking at him so I know he hasn't gone anywhere. He just ignored me completely. no follow up, no trying. Nothing. Thought we would get better service as this was the New York Palace. But I guess not.
