I love eating at the bar the last few times I've been there. The service and food is still continuously wonderful. They've made a little change in management, which definitely has been to the better benefit of the restaurant! Guy who works there is absolutely wonderful at the front of the house. Always smiling and pleasant.

I enjoyed the experience, but I definitely had better before First, I got the Nuit À Versailles, and the tea was okay. I felt like I couldn't taste the flavor as much. Second, the egg sandwiches and deviled egg were okay; I wasn't fully satisfied. The smoked salmon was good tho! I loved the scones, so good! The desserts were okay. Overall, the high tea experience was okay. It was expensive, so I don't think it's worth it. I wouldn't do the high tea here again but it's worth trying once!

We really enjoyed high tea at BG Restaurant. The tea itself was wonderful and the presentation was lovely. The tea sandwiches were excellent and fresh, and the desserts were delicious. That said, the offerings felt a little light for the price. The tea selection could be broader and while the desserts were great, I wished they were a bit more generous with the portions. Overall, it is a beautiful spot for tea in the city and worth a visit, just know you may leave wanting a little more.

Visited BG, the restaurant on the 7th floor of Bergdorf Goodman, with a friend on the Monday of a long weekend. We made a reservation the day before, and the restaurant was very busy, and we wouldn't have been seated quickly (or at all) without one. We were seated near the bar and kitchen, in chic shell-like chairs with a lovely view of Central Park and The Plaza. The tableware and glassware were beautiful, and our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations. The meal started with complimentary focaccia and butter, enjoyable, though not served warm. For appetizers, we shared the Mushroom Tart with raspberry jam ($28) and Poached Pear and Prosciutto Salad ($32). Both were fine, though a bit underwhelming and definitely overpriced for what they were. The tart was very mushroom-forward but not hot, and the salad was just okay. For mains, I had the Roasted Chicken Salad ($36) and my friend ordered the Herb-Crusted Chilean Sea Bass with Shrimp Risotto ($48). My chicken salad was fresh and generously portioned but lacking in flavor. The sea bass, was excellent, perfectly cooked and beautifully paired with the saffron beurre blanc, though the shrimp risotto was just average. I also enjoyed the tea service. We ended with desserts: the Pumpkin Cheesecake was outstanding, and the Pear Cranberry Cobbler was also very good. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, especially thanks to the excellent service and elegant atmosphere. That said, only parts of the meal truly stood out, and the prices are steep. For the cost, you could easily find a more exceptional lunch elsewhere. Still, it's a quintessential New York experience and great for people-watching.

This place is beautiful! I felt like a step back in time. The service was incredible. My husband took me for afternoon tea for a major milestone birthday. The server was nice enough to bring me a pillow to put behind me, the birdcage seats are pretty but without the pillow uncomfortable. Long story short something must have been on the pillow and got all over my pants. I actually walked around not noticing until I came to a mirror on a different floor I had a whole day ahead and a Broadway play. The afternoon tea was good the sandwiches could have been more. Compared to other afternoon tea it's small portion of sandwich. The biscuits are the Best!! I just wish I would have gotten an apology or something for my pants looking like I had poop, probably chocolate, it wasn't from my food because that leg was no where near. The special birthday chocolate mousse cake with a chocolate ganache was incredibly and appreciated. Good thing I was near lots of places that sell parts.

Shout out to my waitress Maya!!!!! The friendliness was the cherry on top on just an overall experience. She answered all my questions gave wonderful recommendations and even brought out a birthday surprise at the end which the restaurant comped thank you very much for that. I didn't have lunch here, but I did do the afternoon tea, which is something that I would do again if I had the chance for $75 you get this tray of treats, mini sandwiches and desserts and if you want to be extra fancy you can add on a glass of champagne. The place was pretty small and is located on the seventh floor of BG department store. You get a view of Central Park and you're located right at the corner of where the plaza hotel is at. It was very busy, but Best believe the waitresses and servers were very fast so there was hardly any wait. I can't wait to come back and try the lunch. Thanks again BG restaurant for a wonderful experience!

Came here for afternoon tea, but dined on everything!!!! The restaurant is located on the 7th floor of the department store. We ordered four orders of the afternoon tea service and lunch and service from the staff was impeccable. We had several food allergies at the table and they accommodated all beautifully! We ordered drinks, lobster macaroni and cheese, duck dumplings, coffee, and steak. Okay, so the afternoon tea was a bit of a let down. I'm more for the savory and scones but they disappointed me the most. The scones were cold and I only liked one of my savory options. The desserts were actually the best. The tea was also super delicious. We had some great tea options. The food options and alcohol 20/10! Yeah, that good! Duck dumplings, best I ever had. No gaminess, super tender and juicy. Everyone loved the lobster macaroni and cheese and steak was so juicy, flavorful, and tender (no A1 needed). Even though the afternoon tea was a bit of a let down, the food, drinks, and service more than made up for it. My recommendation is to go for the regular menu items and you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be back!

Fancy restaurant, lovely decor, enjoyed the afternoon tea, a must visit. I was glad that I was seated by the window with the breathtaking views of Central Park. I also ordered a lobster salad, portions were great and food was amazing. Service was immaculate and staff were on point. I'll be back for sure.

Came to celebrate my bachelorette before the big day with some afternoon tea - first and foremost, the service! So nice and they even gave us a free dessert to congratulate us. Each tier had a selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts with a hot pot of tea. Not the tastiest items - sandwiches could've had been fresher, scones softer but it's more for the vibes as they are immaculate. dishes and teapots are so cute, the view of Central Park is one of a kind.

We have now eaten here twice. We loved it so much that we returned with the entire family just a few weeks later and were lucky to enjoy the same waitress and maitre'd again! Both times we loved the ambience, the view, the service, and our meals. As a sensitive celiac who cannot tolerate cross contamination with gluten, I was kept very safe: first time with the braised short rib and the second time, with the deviled eggs and lobster salad. Both times the waitress brought me delicious gluten-free crackers and my own butter while the rest of the table had bread and butter. Cocktails too!

FIVES STARS! This was an absolute luxury experience from start to finish. The hostesses were cordial and accommodating. The vibe is sleek and classy. We ordered the tea service. So much attention to detail in every single bite. And i can't forget Jeffrey. He made our experience that much more memorable. He was attentive and simply exuded luxury service. I can't wait to go back!

Are there vegan options for the afternoon tea?

No, they literally only know how to serve egg. It's barely vegetarian. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. You can see my full review for why.

Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The front part where you first walk in is the bar area with some tables. This restaurant is on the darker side and brings you back in time. Once you walk in further that is where the main dinning room is. This is also on the darker side as you can maybe tell by my photos. The wall paper and art around the restaurant is cool and there are some monkey statues around the restaurant. I was seated in a corner table in a booth area that seemed to be for at least 2-3 people. I thought for sure they would seat me at the bar area. I had a wonderful waitress whose name I think was Taylor but I could be wrong. I ordered the Monkey bread to start off with. It's a very buttery bread with truffle and parm cheese on top. I have alot of allergies and I was searching online if I could even have truffles as I have a nut allergy. So, I asked the waitress and she said she had never heard this. But, she came back to me and told me that White truffle grows near or like over where Almonds grow from but that, they don't use white truffle so I was all good. Well, this was super nice of her to check for me. I had no idea she was going to do this. She said the restaurant has strict protocols when it comes to food allergies. I then got for my main dish the double cheese burger with onions and pickles. To drink I had the cucumber martini. WOW everything was pretty darn good!! I passed on dessert. If you get a chance or a reservation pops up in your resy to go, even if it is for lunch..I highly say go for it.

We started with drinks, and mine ended up being a surprise standout. I ordered the coconut margarita, slightly hesitant since I'm not usually a margarita fan--but it completely won me over. It struck a perfect balance and leaned just enough into the coconut to make it feel unique without being overpowering. My sister-in-law, who's pregnant, had a non-alcoholic Ritual margarita and loved it, noting how convincingly it mimicked the real thing. Since we were sharing, we got to try a good mix of the menu. The monkey bread came first--definitely a splurge at $34, but it's one of those fun, indulgent starters that's worth ordering at least once. While I wouldn't call it the best bread I've ever had, I also wouldn't change anything about it. The crab rangoon was another highlight. Having it made with real crab made a noticeable difference, and the dipping sauces complemented it really well. It felt like a more elevated take on something familiar. For mains, the French dip was a hit. The meat was incredibly tender, the bread had that ideal crusty exterior, and the au jus was packed with flavor--I was very glad I ordered extra. It pulled the whole dish together. We also tried the smoked whitefish Caesar, which was the only dish that didn't quite land for me. It was a well-made, fresh salad, but the smoked fish flavor was a bit overpowering and took over the balance of the dish. Even though we were too full for dessert, the restaurant surprised us with a scoop of strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce to celebrate my sister-in-law's babymoon. It ended up being one of the most memorable bites of the meal--we're still talking about how good that ice cream was. We arrived right at 11:45, and by the time we left, the place was absolutely buzzing. It's clearly a popular spot, and for good reason. Between the lively atmosphere, strong service, and well-executed food, I'd highly recommend making a reservation if you can.

Their entire operation seemed so incredibly focused, meticulous, and inspiring that we knew we had to try it. We started with the Iberico ham and the hiramasa tart, both incredible. Then came the chilled lobster, which was super fresh and refreshing, served with an amazing sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. Every dish felt refined without being overly complicated. The service was extraordinary. You can immediately tell the front-of-house team is operating at an extremely high level and is aware of everything happening in the room at all times. At one point, my wife stepped away to use the restroom just as they were about to serve the first course. Without saying a word or making anything awkward, the staff simply looped around a couple of times until she returned. The moment she sat down, they resumed service seamlessly without missing a beat. That level of awareness and professionalism really stood out to us. Next came the rye bread, which was fresh and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, paired with delicious butter. Then we had the sea bass with crab, which was phenomenal and one of my favorite dishes of the night. But the true star of the show for me was the lamb. My wife and I grill lamb racks often, and I genuinely had no idea this level of perfection existed. It was cooked flawlessly, and the sauce was absolutely incredible. If I was not in public, I probably would have been scraping the bone clean :) Big shoutout to one of the staff members, Stephanie, who completely made our night. We were telling her how excited we were to finally visit after watching the Bon Appétit video, and she casually asked if we wanted a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Honestly, I thought she was joking at first. Then she came back after dessert and reminded us. Even after paying the bill, I still thought maybe she was kidding, but then she walked over smiling and said, "Let's go." My wife and I were completely geeked out. Seeing the kitchen in person was surreal. It was exactly like the video: super meticulous, orders being called out and repeated in unison, everyone moving with total precision and purpose. You could see the Omega clock, the Michelin stars on the wall, and just the overall culture of excellence behind everything they do. We were honestly in awe. Thank you again, Stephanie. That experience meant so much to us. Every time we visit a fine dining restaurant for a special occasion, I always wonder whether it will truly live up to the hype. Some completely miss the mark. Some are very good. But none have delivered on every aspect the way The Modern did. This is officially our favorite restaurant in the world.

They did however seat us at a table that was directly in the way of a lot of movement through the restaurant. Many waiters found themselves squeezing between our table and another to attend to other tables. Some were carrying very heavy looking trays. Beyond that, we had a blast. We ordered the butter service, which was super fun! The waiters make a whole show of it, seasoning the butter at the table, talking it up a bit, and then allowing us to go to town. The added shallots on top bring an extra hit of umami. The chorizo spread was a little grainy for me, but others at the table were going for seconds and thirds. I especially enjoyed the marinated leeks and the eggplant dip it was also served with. Our entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the lobster frites and the french onion soup burger. The burger wasn't overtly French oniony. It was just a solidly good burger. The lobster was delicious, but not anything I am continuing to think about. What I am still thinking about though, are the creme brulees! We ordered the corn creme brulee for a side. It was sweet and salty, with a great crack and chew to the top. I also loved the espresso creme brulee for dessert, which also had a nice light saltiness to it. We also got the spicy orange carrots which were totally delicious. In addition to the espresso creme brulee, we also ordered the lemon ice cream cake. It was bright and refreshing. The only downsides were the wait for the desserts. The wait was so long that our waiter insisted that they would be comped for our inconvenience. However, they were still on the bill at the end of the meal. He did remove them immediately when we pointed them out, though. And finally, coat check accidentally gave our Mother's Day bouquet of flowers to the wrong mom! We wound up with a much prettier bunch, but lost our balloon as part of the switch. Oh well! Next time, we'll definitely be ordering the brulees and I'll be damned if I leave without having their french onion soup!

I am writing to share some constructive feedback regarding a recent dinner at Quality Bistro…read more Having been a loyal patron of Quality Meats and Quality Italian for many years, I was eager to experience your take on the French bistro concept. While there were highlights to the evening, several aspects of the experience did not meet the high standards I have come to associate with the Quality Branded family. First, I must address a significant comfort issue two weeks ago. Our group was seated in one of the large booths, and we found that the cushions were so soft that we sank down uncomfortably low. It was quite awkward to dine when several guests could barely see over the top of the table. For a restaurant of this caliber, guest ergonomics are essential, and I would strongly encourage looking into firmer seating support for those booths. Regarding the menu, we found the oysters to be a bit of a letdown for the $5 price point. The citrus toppings were so heavy-handed that they completely overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. Additionally, as a long-time fan of Quality Meats, I found the steak to be lacking in both presentation and precise execution. I had hoped for a dish that mirrored the excellence of your sister properties, but this fell short of expectations. On a more positive note, your staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. We also thoroughly enjoyed the bread and butter cart; the butter was truly lovely and stands up well against international varieties I have tried. Furthermore, your desserts are stunning and were the highlight of our meal. I share this because I truly enjoy your restaurant group and would love to see Quality Bistro refine these details to match the world-class experience of your other locations and competitive locations in the neighborhood. I look forward to returning in the future to see how the space evolves.
