Food is good. I was surprised how fast my tacos came. They have plenty of choices to get a good cocktail or beer. Good choice of wines also. If you aren't very picky it is decent selection. Service was also pleasant and friendly Ambience in the park during summer is always a great place to stop for food or drink.

August in NYC and we wanted to dine al fresco for lunch... the Bryant Park Cafe is an excellent choice! Good, fast service, a full-service bar, and very good food choices whether tourists or, like us, locals. Their specialty cocktails are well thought out for the season. We had the Summer Nights (vodka with passionfruit) and Takes Dos To Tango, (tequila with mango). The battered shrimp tacos were topped with guacamole, spicy salsa, lime creme fraiche and chopped salad. Three of them served on soft corn tortillas and they were outstanding. The Mediterranean Chicken entree was grilled chicken with orzo, artichokes, tomatoes, olives, capers, onions and feta cheese drizzled with olive oil - a super healthy, light entree perfect for a warm August afternoon. For dessert, we tried the recommended carrot cake, which was moist, nutty and delicious. I recommend BP Cafe for anyone in Midtown who wants a good, tasty meal in a beautiful outdoor setting.

I went here with a group because it is the casual side to Bryant Park Grille. They don't take reservations so make sure your group knows that. They also will only make two checks - so divide up how you see fit. We had a group of 5 and it was very noisy. So we had to move around quite a bit to hear one another. I ended up getting a turkey burger with lettuce and tomato (no bun) and I enjoyed it very much. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food whether it was beets or a burger or steak. Just make sure you don't come here when it is totally humid out. You won't be able to stand it! Our waiter messed upper checks which is why I am giving them a 3 star. It was a good thing I looked at the check and with that he came back and said he made a mistake. OK - anyway, it took a very long time for him to handle the checks (which seemed silly). There aren't many places around Grand Central that are casual so this was a good option. Located right next to Bryant Park and the NY Public Library. Good business in the summer.

Sometimes you need to give harsh ratings. The food is alright but nowhere near worth $18. The service is good. The cool part is that it's right next to the street and you can listen to the ambience of cars going by. Overall it's alright if you just need somewhere to eat but I wouldn't put it on the must eat list.

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

For those who like a little drink with their food, during brunch they offered a number of brunch cocktails (bottomless) for $35 Food of Choice: I had the Truffle Mac and Cheese and a side of the za'tar cauliflower. Both dishes were great and filling. The cauliflower had a lot of bold flavors! The onion ring on top of the Mac and cheese was a nice touch. I couldn't really taste the truffle but I would still order the dish again.

Two-part, proper settle, tight dome, no rushing it. That's rarer than it should be in Midtown where half the bars treat a stout like a lager. Whoever's behind the bar here has been trained or grew up around it. Food's better than a second-floor pub between 5th and 6th has any right to be. The JRB burger comes on a house-ground patty (they grind in-house, and you can tell, loose texture, actual seasoning), caramelized onions cooked down all the way, not just softened, good cheese pull. Fried pickles on the side had a crisp cornmeal shell and stayed crunchy under the burger juices, which never happens. Buttermilk chicken salad was the surprise. Chicken actually brined, crust stayed on, greens weren't an afterthought. Only real knock: music was loud. Not sports-bar loud, more like the bartender's playlist got away from him. Fine at the bar, harder at a table if you want to talk. Room's got real bones. Reclaimed barn wood, old rail track as a foot rest, that big 45-star flag on the wall. Been here almost 20 years and it's aged into itself. For the neighborhood the pricing's fair. Beats P.J. Clarke's on the burger, loses on quiet. Go for a beer and a burger, not a date.

I think The Modern was worth it! We had a table right next to the windows where you can people watch the crowd of museum goers. It was a great time, eating super fancy food and making up narratives for the people around us. I love when everything on a dish has a purpose. And you find out the purpose when you don't properly load your fork/spoon with a little bit of everything. We went with the impressions menu (the basic one? the menu changes with season so...ya) and I know people go nuts over the 'eggs on eggs on eggs' but i I have had the signature dish (The Garden of the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg) from Chef Jose Avillez's Belcanto in Lisbon and it's just not my cup of tea! So I have zero opinion on that. Everything on the menu was lovely! Worth the childcare!

Fried chicken - delicious - probably the only great bite. The steak tartar was okay - not bad but not great either. I don't remember what exactly the pizza was but I didn't even finish my one slice of it. And then, for dessert, we were served gummy bears which was also decent.

Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I was lead to this great spot for a late dinner and cocktails on a Friday night. The hostess was really friendly and quicky sat us at a two seater near the bar, which we appreciated. The ambiance was light and friendly and they even had a DJ playing all the good jams! I think I danced a bit, (definitely liquid courage). The DJ read the room and created a fun ambiance. The waitress came over a few minutes later and quickly took our drink and meal order. We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back!

They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour drinks in the MoMA/Midtown West area.
