The standout for me was the handmade pasta stuffed with porcini mushrooms. The pasta was perfectly cooked, pillowy soft, and packed with flavor. You can really taste the care that goes into the food here. And the specials? Absolutely off the charts. Sea bass, lamb, steak, different varieties of pasta--you really can't go wrong. The regular menu also has plenty of options, so there's something for just about everyone. I also have to give a special shoutout to Valentino, Timmy, and James. These guys took great care of me both times I came in. They treated me like family, made sure I was taken care of, and genuinely made the experience that much better. The food was ok- I had the chicken parm which I was surprised did not come with pasta but two potatoes and some broccoli. We ordered some apps for the table and it was a bit confusing since I needed to find out about what was what but it didn't give a huge sense of assurance to eat it and not get sick. First time at this quaint downtown Italian restaurant. Hidden at 5 Gold St, I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. The waitstaff was all dressed professionally and the place reminded me of a restaurant from the past. I also had a delicious organic salad as an appetizer. My main course was salmon. I would have opted for a sauce on side, but did not ask. One of my colleagues has been going to Giardino D'oro's for over 20 years and he had brought me to this restaurant for dinner one evening on a Thursday night at around 5:00 P.M. The team member whom was assisting us provided us waters immediately and went over the specials on the menu. There was so many delicious items to choose from! It was difficult! The ambiance of this restaurant is nice. It's a great spot for a special occasion. After reviewing the menu we had ordered the following Appetizer: Eggplant Rolatine: Rolled with prosciutto & fontina served in a light pink sauce $14.50 Salad special: Parmesan, tomatoes Entrees: Spaghetti ala Carbonara $28.95 Veal Chop served with roasted potato $48.00 Dessert: Cheesecake All of the food was delicious! My colleague enjoyed the eggplant rolatine and the salad was scrumptious! I had the Spaghetti ala carbonara and it was quite different than a carbonara I would get at other restaurants. There's something about New York and Italian restaurants. Maybe because it seems like they are everywhere. And they are! Well, it doesn't matter because I happen to love Italian food. I even love exploring them in other cities outside of my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. And that I did! Accompanied by my colleagues, I traveled by ferry to Wall Street in order to partake in a delicious meal at Giardino D'oro. It was about 30 of us from various cities and states and we had appetites that were ready to take over New York City. We hoped they were ready for us, and they were! We had buffet style dining where the servers encouraged you to try everything from the pasta, to the chicken piccata, even to the desserts; there was something for everyone's palate. I did try a little of everything which paired very nicely with red wine. If you are native to New York, work in the financial district, a trader, an investment banker, or visiting from a destination outside of NYC, don't pass up having an intimate dinner at this Italian restaurant. If you are on a diet, this is the place to visit! I visited here for a business dinner with colleagues on a Wednesday evening. Service was good, food was good, but the portions were simply to laugh at. The prices didn't do justice for such small portions. For an Italian restaurant who prides on good food and good times, it hard to imagine that such a place would serve entrees and desserts in such small portions enough to feed a child. This is a nice unsuspecting Italian restaurant in the financial district with good food and good service. The reason I say unsuspecting is because of its location, it's a bit hidden and there isn't any visibility into the restaurant from the street, so you can almost forget it's there. They have good classic Italian fare, although some dishes lean a little on the saltier side, depending on the sauce you get. Also a bit on the expensive for the amount of food you get, but that comes with the location. We live in the neighborhood and have come a few times, but I wouldn't say it's a go-to spot for us as there are so many Italian restaurants in NYC that are probably a bit better. We were a bit tight on schedule since one colleague had to catch a flight in a few hours but we were in and out within two hours. This is not an easy feat during lunchtime. A family friend suggested this restaurant. A favorite of his when he is in town. And I can see why! You walk into the restaurant and are immersed into an Italian atmosphere of cobble stones, hand painted murals on the walls, little quaint dining tables, and a beautiful staircase that leads down to a wine cellar. I came here with my boyfriend one night since we live nearby. We didn't have reservations but didn't have to wait for a table. It actually wasn't very crowded considering it was a weekend. One thing I noticed when I was looking at the menu was that not all their pastas are homemade - only a couple on the menu are. I ordered the special, which was a pesto gnocchi. I thought it was really good, and the potion was pretty big. It was expensive though, more than $30 for the plate of pasta. My boyfriend got a cannoli for dessert. It was delicious, but it was also overpriced. The service was good, our waiter was attentive. Although in the middle of our meal the host and hostess sat down and ate next to us which I thought was kind of odd.
