As classy as they come. Joseph's is that old school Italian joint in Fi-Di where you know you'll get a quality meal. My aunt lives in FiDi so it's always nice coming downtown to spend time with her. This is one of her go to spots and she wanted to see what I thought of it. For a Wednesday night there was a decent crowd. I could tell they were mostly regulars there. The staff was impeccable. Not too pushy but made she we had everything we needed. I started with the buffalo mozzarella. The pesto was what stood out. It was so well made. The whole appetizer was light. I tried one of my aunt's shrimp which she ordered to start and that was also quite delicious. The main event was a veal piccata. You could cut the veal with a spoon, that's how tender it was. The sauce was incredible. It came with a small medley of veggies. All so delicious. Now I was the only one who ordered off the pre-fixed menu, so mine came with a dessert. It was all about the cheesecake. Again, another light dish and the perfect way to end the meal. My aunt and uncle got the tiramisu. I don't usually go near a tiramisu because of the coffee component. They urged me to try it and I have to say... it was also delicious. More boozy than coffee which I can get behind. All around a great meal and a great place to catch up with my fam.

My new favorite spot for upscale and classic northern Italian cuisine. The food was delish, and the ambiance was even better. I was seated near a cozy fireplace and it was just the perfect dinner. The service was also super attentive, and we were recommended the perfect dishes for our meal. Can't wait to come back again!

A group of us serve on a not-for-profit Board and were in New York for meetings. I decided to make a reservation at Joseph's for dinner one evening. From the welcome to the recommendations for dinner, service was outstanding! Warmly welcomed. Seated right away. I had pre-requested separate checks and was told "not a problem". We enjoyed a leisurely dinner with appetizers, wine and some dessert. A friend and her shared the mixed green salad (which they split into 2 plates) and the Bronzino (again on 2 plates) with a side of grilled vegetables- cooked to perfection! Another friend had the halibut and enjoyed every bite. For dessert we shared the cannoli and the tiramisu- Wow! GET THE CANNOLI!! True Italian cooking. Outstanding service! From the first bite to the last - everything was great!

My boyfriend & I went to Joseph's during NYC Winter Restaurant Week and had a lovely experience. We went on a Friday night, and the restaurant was surprisingly not very busy, and it worked to our advantage because we had such excellent wait-service. It seemed that all waiters were honed in on us having a lovely evening. We ordered a bottle of wine off of the recommendation of our waiter and ordered the following: His: Eggplant Rollatini, Veal Picatta, and Cheesecake Hers: Gulf shrimp, Rigatoni alla vodka, and tiramisu Everything was fantastic, and for $42 each, such a steal! We both agreed that the eggplant appetizer and rigatoni alla vodka stole the show. I would recommend coming here for a romantic Italian meal anytime, even outside of Restaurant Week.

This is an Italian spot in the Financial District. It's got a bit of a clubby feel to it. Like super dark, blue lighting, modern, curtains, etc. I opted to sit at the bar as I was dining solo. The bartender apparently had a couple people she knew sitting at the bar. So I was essentially ignore the entire time while she focused on her friends down at the end of the bar. The menu is plentiful. I opted for my NY fav, pasta alla vodka. It was good and tasty. Not the best, but satisfied my craving. A perfectly sized portion. Wine list is decent. Can't say I'd return. But it was fine in the moment.

Thank you, darling hubby! xo Ci Siamo serves some of the best sublime delicious Italian cuisine in the city under the helm of superstar Chef Hilary Sterling. Our merry party of five indulged with : - Carmelized Onion Torta - Pizza Bianca - Cast Iron Focaccia - Stracci pasta - Rigatoni Alla Gricia - Olive Oil Poached Orata - Braised Lamb - Limon Tarte dessert -Basque Cheesecake Accompanied by splendid wine selection. It was hard to find gps wise if you've never been there, I went past it by a city block. It's located in a gigantic plaza that you get to by the stairs outside. There was free wine in the elevator that you really couldn't see in (very dark) I didn't indulge in it the first time. It was pretty busy inside, since I was a party of 1, I asked if it's mandatory to sit by the bar and it wasn't. I was seated on the left side across from the bar at a smaller table by the window. At first I was bothered by the foot traffic behind me but pushed the table further in & felt better. Now for the food: I ordered the caramelized onion torta and listen it was wayy too rich for just one person, this is definitely a sharing appetizer for dare I say minimum 3 people. The richness was definitely overkill, I brought my own sparkling water but ordered an Arnold Palmer to calm down that flavor. While it had a good crust on the cheese and nice pastry on the bottom, I wish I had ordered something else. Quite expensive to not enjoy it (5/10). I passed on the vegetable part of the menu. Entree: Cavatelli Allo Scoglio, so delicious. I've never had that type of pasta in a dish before but it compliments it well, cooked to perfection. It comes with plenty of crab and the lemon zest balanced the dish just right against the acids of the tomatoes. (9/10) Dessert: I was torn if I should order dessert or not but what's a meal without sweets. They had plenty of gelato flavors but I decided to go with hazelnut and man I was not disappointed. BEST gelato I've ever had. It was so creamy and delectable that I still think about it to this day. The cup it comes in seems small but they pack it with more than you think. I almost passed on the candied hazelnuts on top but please don't do it lol, chefs kiss just perfect. (10/10) On the way out I was going to try the wine and grabbed a glass but again in the dark elevator I turned on my flashlight to see the cups there were all used. I think they should come around often to leave clean glasses or put up a sign to identify which are clean and which aren't. Overall I'd return for the entree and dessert and maybe try a vegetable option over the other appetizers. Also, props to my waiter for being attentive and kind.

There are numerous locations now in the city but this was my first time going and I was definitely eyeing it for awhile. They do weekday lunch specials of $14 pastas, boozey weekend brunches for around $24/25(not including food), and $12 Sunday dinner specials on entrees as well as happy hours on weekdays from 4-7pm that include: $7 snacks, $8 wine, $5 beer, $9 spritzes, and $9 wells. I happened to come in for Labor Day Brunch on Saturday. We both said we were going to do unlimited but honestly could only finish about a pitcher of mimosa and they only charged us for the one pitcher was the nice part. I went with Carbonara Pasta and my boyfriend had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with fries. I'm not gonna lie, I've never gone to aycd brunch and have not finished my food but I could not finish my entree it was so massive and filling. I haven't had a pasta this rich in ages and it was so so good and I am all for not having those skimpy little portions. He couldn't finish his sandwich either. I tried one of the fries and it was nicely battered thick cut wedge fries. Maybe I haven't been eating out alot lately but I was legit impressed. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful. The cafe in itself is very cute and Italian with black and white marble in the bathrooms, white marble bar top, hanging plants, interesting light fixtures. I'm definitely going to make a point to come back soon.

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

They were pretty busy for a Tues night when we got there, but they had a good table ready for us. They noted that we were celebrating an anniversary and brought us out champagne without having to say anything or ask. We ordered a lot! Started with an espresso martini and my husband got a bourbon drink. The espresso martini did not disappoint! Then we got the mushrooms with a fried egg on top, foccacia bread and the crispy potatoes as sides. The crispy potatoes were my fave. They had great flavor and crispiness. For entrees, we got three pastas. The spaghetti (which was a white sauce spaghetti), the bucatini and the truffle ravioli. They accidentally brought us a cacia e peppe out instead of the ravioli so we got to try a 4th. The pasta was ALL so delicious. The ravioli was my fave. The spaghetti was also very unique because it didn't look or taste like a tomato sauce. The service was great and we really appreciated the nice extra touches with the champagne toast and what I considered a better table than most! It was a corner table on the top floor for 4 people when we were only two people! Gave us some extra space so we weren't on top of another party. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be back the next time we go to NY!

The interior was completely packed, and the noise level was high enough for my smart watch to complain. To sample a bit of everything, we shared two orders of focaccia, four pastas, and one dessert. HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. Still, I'd definitely come back for the focaccia, tagliatelle, and the cacio e pepe.
