Maison Passarelle is the cool new restaurant inside the beautiful Printemps building downtown. The restaurant is eclectic with bright colored tiles and stand out chandeliers, a great spot for striking conversations over a small dinner. We visited for restaurant week - and apparently got some new testers on the menu. Food is inspired by French colonial cuisines - lots of Thai, south east asian, New Orleans, etc. The dishes were tasty. Some flavours were a bit boring compared to other places in NY but overall pretty good. I really enjoyed the coconut salad, the duck curry and the olive oil cake. Service still working out some kinks with servers repeating asks or going to take away glassware before being served etc but nothing major.

A great option for gluten free people. Although not directly advertised, the entire menu is gluten-free. A bit pricy and a prefix menu which limits the options a little. But we all had a great time and everything was pretty delicious. The only item that was not for me was the lobster and pasta dish. The chicken and the duck were highlights of the main course. The staff was great and helpful. And the ambiance was great as well. We did not try the bar but it looked like a nice place to hang out for drinks.

Came back for dinner a second time and had a less than stellar experience. While the duck remains very good (definitely order this), we didn't really like anything else we ordered, which included the kampachi starter (tasted fishy and not high quality fish) and the Cajun type risotto starter (forget the name but felt the rice was too hard and undercooked), the lobster spaghetti (pasta was undercooked and the lobster was overcooked), and the pikiliz (too sour for my personal taste). As for service, they forgot about our two entrees. After waiting for 40-50 min after our appetizers, we asked someone to check on our entrees. Turned out they forgot them so they had to fire them and we waited maybe another 10-15 min. On the plus side, someone came by and deeply apologized and said they would comp our meal. Our bill came and we were charged for everything. I paid it then my husband reminded me they should've at least taken off the entrees so we went back and told them and they said they would reverse the payment and comp the whole meal (there was some miscommunication). Over all, I'm sad to say that as excited as I was about the place given Top Chef, I won't be returning. But if you do come, get the duck!

I am such a huge fan of this place! My boyfriend found this restaurant online, and once we saw that most of the menu was gluten free and dairy free, I got so excited! I was even more excited that the head chef and creator was Black. We made a reservation for the same night. We really enjoyed our meal. Walking in, the restaurant was elegant, and I loved the open kitchen. The 2 seater tables were a bit tight, similar to most restaurants, but the seats were comfortable. Our server was nice and the other staff were great. It was also great to see so many Black chefs, and I loved the RnB and soul music. We ordered off the restaurant week menu as well as the regular menu. Looking at the both menus, it's evident that a talented chef created these dishes. My boyfriend is Haitian, so we appreciated seeing some Haitian staples being converted to fine dining. Our favorites were the lobster pasta, which had plenty of lobster, but we wanted more noodles and more of the entire dish. The gumbo was interesting, but really good. The Sòs Pwa Nwa with the Pickled red onions was next level. The light coconut cake with the sorbet was fantastic. The only disappointment was the cornbread. I was so excited to try to gluten-free bread. It seems like some nights they have mini muffins and some nights they have the bigger loaf. We were only given 1 mini muffin for two people, so I asked for more and was charged $12. I was annoyed since the mini loaf is clearly much bigger than the mini muffin. Even if it was only 1 mini muffin per person who ordered off the regular menu, we spent so much money, it feels like it's ridiculous to charge for an extra mini muffin on a $350 bill. That made me a bit upset. Otherwise, I'm a huge fan and highly recommend. Thank you for offering delicious Haitian food that's gf/df. We will be back.

We made a late reservation and from the moment we arrived everything felt welcoming and effortless. The hostess, Lola, greeted us with a warm smile and immediately accommodated our request for a power table which set a great tone for the evening. Soon after we met Hannah, the sommelier. She was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We chatted about wine and we got tastings to help us decide. Every option she brought was excellent and clearly well thought out. Our server Estefania from Venezuela was just as impressive. She was friendly, attentive, and confident in her recommendations which made the experience even better for us as first time guests. For appetizers, we ordered the Citrus Cured Kampachi along with the Daily Oysters. Both were fresh and delicious. The kampachi stood out for its unique and balanced flavors, unlike anything we've had before in a really good way. For our main courses, we tried the Cane Syrup Glazed Duck and the Spaghetti Homard. The duck was outstanding, perfectly cooked, and one of the best we've ever had. The pasta was bright, fresh, and full of flavor. To finish, we shared the Coconut Chiboust and the Chocolate Ginger Crémeux. The coconut dessert was light, tropical, and delicious. The crémeux was creative and well made, though the flavor combination wasn't quite our style. Overall, our experience at Maison Passerelle was excellent from start to finish. The service, the wine, and the food all came together perfectly. We would definitely return for a special occasion.

We had a lovely dinner here. We had a reservation in advance. We loved the decorations inside. I think it's a good idea to go here with a group as the food is meant to be shared family style. Our favorites were the sweet potato and peanut soup, duck, and crispy ocean trout. Drinks wise I ordered the kokoye punch, it was awesome. Service was great. Definitely on the pricier side in terms of what you get for portions.

I want to say that the service here was absolutely phenomenal. Rose was just a joy. She was so happy and you could easily tell she loves her job. The atmosphere is cute and intimate. We came with a group of 5 and ate for about 4 hours. Never once rushed. No bill to leave. We were able to enjoy and actually talk. Some of the food was hit or miss. The cod fritters I would skip. The duck is a must. If in the area give this place a try, but specifically coming here I think there's better options in the city.

Get ready to taste flavors and creations you have never imagined. Awesome selection and a great venue for a special night out. Big fan of the Bread app, Fritters, Steak, and Chicken! The desserts were fantastic as well. Oh did I mention 10/10 service? Yup that too. Go give it a shot!

High prices? Check. Small portions? Check. Massive hype? Check. I don't know if Americans realize that fashion restaurants aren't supposed to be the price-gouging disappointments they so often are here....but, they aren't. Like, the Prada Cafe in Milan charges bistro-level prices for high-quality dishes like saffron risotto that come in nonna-level amounts. By comparison, NYC places like Maison Passerelle and the Louis Vuitton Cafe charge three Michelin-star prices for mid-quality dishes at ant-like portions. Sigh. I'll give Passerelle props for "trying" to inject some Haitian flavor into an otherwise dull French menu, but this is one clear case where intent does not equal execution. For a girls' night dinner, the four of us started with a complimentary amuse bouche of mushrooms in broth--and if the actual dishes had been like this, I would be writing a different review. Sadly, the amuse bouche was probably the best part of our meal. We got the Warm Plantain Bread & Butter to share, except that wasn't possible because the bread was the size of half an iPhone, and we were basically stuck trying to cut it into teeny-tiny bites. It was decent quality, but generally unremarkable. And the seasoned butter accompaniments were nice but no different than the housemade butter offered at tons of other restaurants. For entrees, my Spaghetti Homard was a laughably small cut of lobster tail with an even tinier dallop of spaghetti and tomato sauce. It took about 5 bites to finish and cost more than $40. Seriously? I mean, I kind of get skimping on the lobster--but why be so stingy with the pasta and sauce? And if Haitian influences were intended to be present in the sauce, I must've missed the memo because the sauce wasn't even spicy. The Cane Syrup Glazed Duck was bland and forgettable with no hint of pineapple or tamarind as the menu promised. We also got a side salad to share, but that's not even worth typing about. Frankly, the Diri ak Sos Pwa side (jasmine rice and red kidney bean sauce) was the best part of our meal, and that just tasted like any rice and beans dish I've had. We were all still hungry after our small, lackluster entrees, so we ended up spending way too much money for dessert. The Coconut Chiboust was another over-promised, under-delivered item that was apparently intended to deliver lemongrass and makrut lime flavors along with the main toasted coconut sorbet, but mostly just tasted like coconut water with a hint of lime. The Rose Kayenn was more complex and interesting, but still not worth the price point for what was essentially sorbet with shaved ice. I will say the Souffle was delicious, but at $21, I would rather just make my own. The drinks were equally disappointing $20+ glasses of under-delivering concoctions, like the bland Situationship and a Sticky Rice cocktail that didn't taste like any sticky rice my Asian childhood has ever had. Sadly, the only impression Maison Passerelle made was on my wallet, and it wasn't a positive one. If I want Haitian, I think I'll stick to the flavorful mom 'n' pop shops we still have in the city.

As a fan of Chef Gregory Gourdet, from his seasons on Top Chef, I was thrilled to see that he opened a restaurant in NYC. From the moment that I checked in to the moment that I left, I was delighted by my wonderful experience at Maison Passerelle! *SPOILER ALERT* Upon being seated, my husband and I opened our menus to see a sweet Happy Anniversary note which felt so intentional and special. I loved it and think it set the tone for the night. For food, my favorites were the Diri ak Sos Pwa, Cane Syrup Glazed Duck, and Green Asparagus Soup. I enjoyed all of those dishes so much that I left a tiny bit of each aside just to take it home as leftovers for the next day. Aside from how good the food was, the service alone was 5 stars. They frequented checked on me without being overbearing, gave me great wine pairing recommendations, and kept checking in while the fire alarm was going off for maybe 20 minutes lol. Overall, I loved my visit here and have been recommending it to anyone who will listen! Thank you Chef Gregory for coming to NYC and for taking a photo with us :), I'm so excited to have you here!

This was everything we expected and more. I'm overjoyed when a restaurant lives up to the hype. I'm even more proud that a Haitian chef is able to shine such great light on our beautiful culture. Great job chef!!! Once we realized we had time on the schedule and we weren't too far from the restaurant, we checked online and were able to snag an early dinner reservation. As we walked in, we were greeted by many staff members. The hostess took our names and checked a bag in for us. We were seated immediately. Decor is beautiful and the servers' uniforms caught my attention-- pristine and distinct. I was eager to taste the food and discover the Haitian fusion everyone has been bragging about from the Portland restaurant. I started with the fritters. I followed with the grouper and a side of diri sos pwa. Yum yum yum. Food had a nice spicy kick to it. The look of the grouper scared me at first. Then the sos pwa looked a bit different than what I'm used to. But let me tell you, delicious!!! The beans were light and flavorful. Rice mixed with the beans and the grouper on top--again, delicious. The Kokoye Punch was so smooth. It just topped off the great meal. All great things about this restaurant. Wait staff were attentive in pouring water and checking if we needed anything. Food was great. Background music, soft. Overall, great dining experience. I'll definitely recommend this spot!! Now, we just need to get a slot in Portland

As a top chef fan, I was really excited to try this place out! The food was actually quite good, but unfortunately I found the prices to be ridiculous, the service slow, and the environment so loud I could barely hear myself talk. The dishes we ordered were quite flavorful, but the portions were small, especially for the price. This was nearly twice the price of duck I've had of similar quality at other restaurants. I think the noisy environment (maybe the room is just too large and echoey?) also just made the dining experience less pleasant.

his is one of the most artistic restaurant I went too. The only problem is I can't find parking around Wall Street. Never never drive to Wall Street take public transportation only. The roasted farm chicken is a must. Cane syrup glazed duck is also a phenomenon. Coconut chiboust is so tasty. Overall it is a great experience

I had a 7pm reservation, but was running late, and they were flexible and told me to come any time. Upon my arrival, I was seated by the piano. The pianist playing that night, Andrew Abrahamsen, was very talented. He played an eclectic mix of songs, including "I Will Survive," Disney's "When You Wish Upon a Star," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." As the night went on, he played Happy Birthday for me, and went on a 90s Disney Renaissance spree, playing songs including "Go the Distance" from Hercules, "Out There" from Hunchback of Notre Dame, "Beauty and the Beast," and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Ordered black tiger shrimp for my entree. It smelled wonderful, and especially peppery once the waiter added pepper to it. The risotto the shrimp sat on was also very delicious. I ended up taking this to go, and it still tasted great later on! For dessert, I chose the lemon tart brûlée with raspberry sorbet. It came with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate with chocolate, and a candle on the sorbet. As always, the ambiance and decor is very beautiful, with portraits of Josephine Baker to honor the revolutionary badass woman. Thanks for the great birthday dinner, Chez Josephine!

I made a reservation to be safe, as many restaurants now ask if you did so. This place is quite packed every night so it was the way to go. I came here for dinner post showtime and my son and I over ordered but happily enjoyed everything. I think our eyes are way bigger than our stomachs. Starters: - French onion soup, au gratin, was perfect. Great onion profile and lots of it. Not overly salty so that was good. - Beef tartare, classic French bistro staple, must order this. The portion was quite generous and it was delicious. We couldn't stop eating it. The petite toasts were a nice accompaniment as well as the raddiccio salad - cheese board, IYKYK, I never met a cheese I didn't like. This board was matched with nice pairings. Think grapes, fig jam, and marcona almonds. The cheese were a classic French variety - bleu, comte and brie. For our entrees, my son opted for a sandwich and I got the steak. His croque Madame was really delicious. The bread, the ham, the baked cheese and the fried egg was so savory. Yummy. My steak was a sizeable portion but I purposely ordered the bigger ounces since I know we'd share. Fries are nice and skinny, perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was attentive and I asked for the table next to us given all the food I know we were getting. He was not sure if he could accommodate but I insisted he check with management. They came over and put it together for me. I appreciated that given a table for two, for how much we ordered, it'd never fit. Totally would return. If you like French food, this is a solid spot to try.

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. Overall, Maman continues to be my go-to brunch place in NYC, and this visit reminded me exactly why.

Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup…read more I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

The frites were the best I've had - super thin and crunchy and the mussels were fantastic in a delicious white wine sauce and again a LARGE portion. We were left happy and full - the Bordeaux Blanc we ordered was perfect to go with it all.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
