Sancerre!
Anacleto B.

Le District is one of those places where if you reserve in advance and time things right, it'll be the perfect all around dinner experience. I chose to visit Le District after a work meeting in FiDi. I didn't want to fight through Manhattan, Queens and Long Island traffic for 2+ hours. So if I figured I'd let traffic pass while having a calm sunset dinner. I'm so glad I did! Unfortunately, I didn't have a reservation, but I got there just before the dinner rush started. So although I had to wait a little bit for an outside table, I wasn't waiting excessively long. I was perfectly happy grabbing a frozen drink at the bar while I waited. Note: The restaurants outdoor tables are perfectly situated to watch the sun set over the NJ skyline and the Hudson River. Add in a little Manhattan People-watching and you can't really beat the view! Now, as far as dinner went, I had a glass of white wine with their branzino, with some risotto on the side. I can't exactly remember which white wine I had but it was crisp, cool and a little dry, just the way I like it. I wasn't a big fan of their risotto. I can't put my finger on why, but I would go with another side if I went again. In any case, the bar staff was super chill and the waitstaff was efficient. That sunset view was gorgeous and lowered my heart rate enough for me to be up for the challenge of driving through whatever was left of Manhattan Rush hour traffic. Try the place out. Check your pulse after your last course and let me know how your heart reacts. I bet it'll be nice and low.

Honey Deuce cocktail (with commemorative glass to keep)

This is a really nice spot for al fresco dining along the Hudson River, near Brookfield Place. They serve excellent cocktails (right now, they have a Honey Deuce - vodka, Chambord, lemonade in a US Open glass that's yours to keep!) and a great brunch on the weekends. We had the brioche French toast (cooked to a delicious slightly crispy finish) and eggs Benedict (their homemade Hollandaise sauce is amazing). We were seated quickly outside and out waitress was friendly and very efficient. She checked on us a couple of times during the meal, which is sometimes rare when a place gets busy. The views of the Hudson on a sunny, warm day were the perfect accompaniment to our meal. This was our third visit there, and we will keep coming back!

Tucked away inside Brookfield Place is this mini French food hall with great treats and food options. I had the chance to visit a year or so ago and the service was just as good this time around but unfortunately the market had about half the offerings it previously had. Still, worth a visit if you're looking for traditional French fare with a great water view as well.

Le District is an absolute gem in Battery Park. The food was excellent -- the service was outstanding as well: attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff made the dining experience seamless and enjoyable. What truly elevates Le District is its location. Set right on the waterfront, it offers stunning views of the Hudson River, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite at the market or settling in for a full meal, Le District delivers a unique and memorable experience!!.

The pastries from La District look better than they taste unfortunately. I got a few of the little cakes and they were expensive for what they were and were a bit dry, leaving me wanting more.

Came here because it looked like a nice place to have lunch by the river. I got sat quickly but wasn't greeted by anyone for almost 10 mins. But once I did my server was very nice. I had a delicious cocktail and ordered an app. I've had this type of app before with the battered shrimp in a creamy aioli type of sauce, but I did like the pickled onion component on top but didn't love the nuts in it. The overall flavor was still good though. The views are nice and I did like their wine selections.

09/01/23: Last minute hangout with friends. Decor casual yet classy and chic. Waitstaff so friendly attentive and engaging. Knowledgeable of menu and made great recommendations. Food delicious and pleasing to our pallet especially the dessert and I'm not a chocolate person. Definitely would return to try other options.

Le Bistrot is a far departure of the restaurant that used to be there years ago. Service was fine, the tuna tartare was good, the one comment I have is dont put steak in your menu if you dont know how to cook it. I asked for medium rare and the first one came medium well- pushing medium. The second one was practically blue, super rare, no choice but to eat it. And the difference of one being sliced for you, and the other not, paired with a dull steak knife, it was a workout forsure. Came to celebrate a milestone, left disappointed.

Right next to Pumphouse Park with tulips in full bloom!

Came here for a light snack and some drinks on a Friday afternoon. The best part was the excellent view the outdoor tables have: you see the Hudson, as well as a great place to people and dog-watch! We tried the walnut and goat cheese salad, the kale caesar salad, tuna tartare and eggplant parmigiana. The salads were very good: dressed lightly which I like and very fresh ingredients. Portions are well sized as well. The tuna tartare was too soy sauce forward, which took away from the delicacy of the tuna. They also had a good wine list by the glass. Service was quick, attentive and friendly. We had the benefit of a beautiful spring day, where the pumphouse park was full of blooming tulips!

The Japanese Bouquet
Lolita M.

This place is beautiful. The view and ambiance is decadent and the cocktails hit the mark. The service was as well. It's a beautiful place for date, a group friends tj get together and special occasion dinner for just a wonderful place to take in all the best complements of what makes a memorable summer. The flowers, the water front, the outdoor dining... I will return to update the review on the food as we decided to drink our lunch. This is where I fell in love with their Japanese Bouquet!! Actually I'd return d'or that alone! Great place!

Is there heated outdoor seating?

Is the outdoor bar area of Le District dog friendly? I have a former therapy dog that would love to sit out there :)

I'm sure they allow dogs as in any kind cuz last week I saw 3 dogs of big and small.

The French onion soup she got as her first course was delightful! So rich, beautifully done!!! That was the high point. The branzino when they brought it out they spilled a decent bit of the sauce on my wife's foot (she was in sandals). No real apology and no one offered to give her anything to clean up. The branzino was ok. Nothing to write home about. My wife got the chicken - WAAAAAY over-fried. Dry as a bone. Mashed potatoes and hericots verts on her dish were delish! Profiteroles for dessert were good as well. It was an ok meal but not worth the price. Probably would not return.

I had a 7pm reservation, but was running late, and they were flexible and told me to come any time. Upon my arrival, I was seated by the piano. The pianist playing that night, Andrew Abrahamsen, was very talented. He played an eclectic mix of songs, including "I Will Survive," Disney's "When You Wish Upon a Star," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." As the night went on, he played Happy Birthday for me, and went on a 90s Disney Renaissance spree, playing songs including "Go the Distance" from Hercules, "Out There" from Hunchback of Notre Dame, "Beauty and the Beast," and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Ordered black tiger shrimp for my entree. It smelled wonderful, and especially peppery once the waiter added pepper to it. The risotto the shrimp sat on was also very delicious. I ended up taking this to go, and it still tasted great later on! For dessert, I chose the lemon tart brûlée with raspberry sorbet. It came with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate with chocolate, and a candle on the sorbet. As always, the ambiance and decor is very beautiful, with portraits of Josephine Baker to honor the revolutionary badass woman. Thanks for the great birthday dinner, Chez Josephine!

This place is quite packed every night so it was the way to go. I came here for dinner post showtime and my son and I over ordered but happily enjoyed everything. I think our eyes are way bigger than our stomachs. Starters: - French onion soup, au gratin, was perfect. Great onion profile and lots of it. Not overly salty so that was good. - Beef tartare, classic French bistro staple, must order this. The portion was quite generous and it was delicious. We couldn't stop eating it. The petite toasts were a nice accompaniment as well as the raddiccio salad - cheese board, IYKYK, I never met a cheese I didn't like. This board was matched with nice pairings. Think grapes, fig jam, and marcona almonds. The cheese were a classic French variety - bleu, comte and brie. For our entrees, my son opted for a sandwich and I got the steak. His croque Madame was really delicious. The bread, the ham, the baked cheese and the fried egg was so savory. Yummy. My steak was a sizeable portion but I purposely ordered the bigger ounces since I know we'd share. Fries are nice and skinny, perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was attentive and I asked for the table next to us given all the food I know we were getting. He was not sure if he could accommodate but I insisted he check with management. They came over and put it together for me. I appreciated that given a table for two, for how much we ordered, it'd never fit. Totally would return. If you like French food, this is a solid spot to try.

The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.
