Very disappointing experience - unacceptable customer service AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!! I visited this coffee shop in Paris a few months ago with a group of 5 adults and 3 children. We had strollers and were hoping to sit outside. There was a large empty table available, so my brother-in-law politely asked a server if we could sit there. Instead of welcoming us, this server looked him up and down and immediately asked, "Are you going to eat?" My brother-in-law replied that yes, we planned to order coffee drinks, pastries, and possibly food. The server then told us we could not sit outside if we were only having drinks -- even though most of the other customers outside were clearly just having drinks. We were told to go inside, but once inside, another server said it would actually be better for us to sit outside because we had strollers. When we explained what had just happened, he finally allowed us to sit inside. I asked our server if I could speak to a manager about the first server's behavior. I was told I would have to wait at least an hour. Then, the server went to speak to the other employee. I could clearly see them talking, and the first server said, "elle va se faire foutre" (which means "F her"). When he noticed me looking, he suddenly approached me and asked what was wrong, acting as if nothing had happened. The entire situation felt discriminatory and judgmental, as if we were prejudged for how we looked or assumed we wouldn't tip. This was by far the worst customer service experience we had during our time in Paris. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, and no customer should be treated this way. It was a mice location as we wondered around after arriving in Paris on our first night. The seating was prompt and our waitress was very nice. She was also fairly quick getting our drinks and then taking her order and she made a recommendation that we appreciated. It was the ribeye steak with fresh cut green beans in a lemon sauce. The service is excellent. The ambience was good unfortunately the steak while it was well cooked and well seasoned was not a good cut of meat. It was full of fat and gristle and I could barely eat it. The green beans were excellent. The bread was excellent. The service was excellent. When our waitress asked me about the steak, and I said that it was so so, she told the chef they offered me a cup of coffee, but at that point I did not want coffee, but I appreciated this sentiment. read more

I'm not sure why this place isn't rated higher but i really enjoyed my afternoon break here on a relatively warm day outside. We stopped in for a glass of wine and some bar snacks and honestly it was just what we needed. The server was quick to take our order after we got seated (not always the case in France) and the view of the Hotel Regina was lovely. Made our way to Le Carrousel after walking around the courtyard and entrance of the Louvre. It was too late to go in so we enjoyed all the spaces around the museum. Le Carrousel was so much fun. We sat outside like everywhere else in Paris. Service was impeccable. The staff, including management, made sure all our needs were met. We only had a few drinks and a charcuterie/cheese board, but were treated like we ordered a five course meal. The drinks and food were outstanding! Well done Le Carrousel! read more

A group of friends and I went here and they told us they were closed. My friends are black, and I'm white, while we were walking away this older Parisian man and his wife, both white, walked it and they sat them. We decided to go back in and they said it was a misunderstanding. To be in such a beautiful city and this be the standard of service is truly vile and disgusting. To the owner of this business, Rami is a jewel ...not only is he going out to the Rue de Rivoli to attract diners , he is helping other staff members and entertaining the guests. Ask for the server named Swan - he was delightful and speaks 4 languages. We came here for dinner closer to 7 pm and got to choose our own seat inside which was by candlelight and the ambiance was calm and sweet. I purchased a detox juice called "think twice" which I can't recommend enough along with the wok de poluet a la Thai - melt in your mouth and served in a skillet. Ah-mazing chef's kiss! We have now been here two more times and I have an update of my last review. The farmer chicken was not as wonderful the next times. It is better to ask for the dark meats but that just might be our preference. I had the Breem white fish with a salad it was good. Others had the risotto de gambas 25€50. Touristy spot with poor service and below average food. This restaurant just happened to be across the street from where we were staying. It was convenient when all the roads were blocked off due to the Olympics. We ordered the French Onion soup which tasted like sewage water and the steak frites which arrived well done with a large tendon through it. I actually spit my bite into a napkin because I was unable to chew it enough to swallow. Needless to say, this restaurant doesn't try hard because they don't need to. There is a great view of the Louvre and the Place des Pyramids. Do yourself a favor and take your service somewhere where they care and there is a real Chef in attendance. read more

The pizza is outstanding as is the onion soup, cheese board, salads- and the wine glasses are delightful. Americans- ask for check (l'addition) as it is not customary for French to rush you. I had time before our bus departed from the Paris City Tour office nearby so I came here for a quick breakfast of coffee and croissant. The coffee was good--not watered down as many did for coffee other than espresso. The croissant was good and the jam served with it was fine. I did get a second cup of coffee. There is no refill policy here. It was a charge the same as the original. The server was waiting when I came upstairs from the bathroom. I don't know if he thought I'd skipped out without paying the correct amount. I gave him the extra and it was service compris. The charge is fitting for the area in which this restaurant is located. A wonderful little bistro/restaurant at the end of the Rue des Pyramides, on Place des Pyramides (not by The Louvre). Wonderful for their set breakfast of various eggs, toast, brioche, croissante and jam. Accompanied by a hot beverage of your choice. What really hit me was stopping off for lunch and ordering their French Onion soup. So much drenched bread smothered with wonderful stringy cheese on top of that soup. Stayed at the hotel across the street from this place and stopped by a couple of times for dessert. We got the French toast with ice cream and caramel as well as the chocolate lava cake, both were delicious. French toast was perfectly soft without being mushy and the ice cream tasted homemade. The chocolate cake was served warm, rich and chocolatey. The touch of raspberry syrup really makes it even better. If you're visiting Paris definitely stop by this little place. Sunday morning we packed up to leave beautiful Paris. With luggage in tow, we stopped by Le Carousel Cafe and sat at an outside table as our driver was 15 min away. We waited for the waiter to order a quick coffee however, no assistance came we thought perhaps due to the very cold temperature. We decided to go inside to order a take out coffee to go. The place was packed and I made my way to the bar. I requested the coffee and then took it outside where we alone sat for a few minutes. My husband stood up to meet our driver and as he was doing so to my surprise "Jo" the waiter of Le Carousel Cafe came up behind me and said angrily, rudely and sharply, "You can not order take out and sit there and dirty my table, you can not dirty my table!!" A mystery for sure? Why would a absent waiter suddenly became so upset at two people drinking a cup of coffee in the frigid temperatures when he himself was non attentive the entire time previous? He didn't even offer service? To add the unnecessary insult of "dirtying his table" was absurd. He undoubtedly, was completely obtuse of the fact that we had waited for his service and with no response. Thank goodness our Mercedes was at the ready and we left. So glad that our experience at the many restaurant in Paris was not like Le Carousel. The Le Carousel Cafe waiter was ill mannered, non attentive and apparently judge mental! A bad hire for sure! A bad experience for us in such in such a beautiful quaint corner of Paris. Avoiding this place on our next trip to Paris and thought I might spare others being treated so poorly by giving them a heads up. If you choose to eat at Le Carousel on their outside patio for any reason- be ware of "Jo" the waiter and his bizarre manners. read more

BREAKFAST WAS DELICIOUS..!!! SERVICE: TOP NOTCH...!!! My wife and I ate their twice for breakfast. Our waiter (once I said in French that I only know a little French) was able to work with me with the little English he knew. I explained we only had 30 minutes and he quickly explained they could get us an omelet, croissant, juice, and coffee in no time. He was as good as his word. First bite of the croissant and I was in love. The omelet needed NOTHING (no ketchup, Tabasco) it was delicious the way they served it. We returned the next morning and got the same great service and spectacular food. While in there I heard some obnoxious, loud Americans whom the servers were paying little attention to - and I don't blame them... I read the negative comments here and when Americans go into a restaurant (in France) and start barking at the staff - in ENGLISH - well, it is understood that this interpreted as demanding and arrogant. And then Americans complain about how purportedly "rude" the French are. We had helpful, cheerful, friendly service our entire trip in Paris. My suggestion to people is: make the effort to learn a few words of the local language, before you call them "rude" for not automatically understanding YOUR language... You do that and you'll get top-notch service and have a ***WONDERFUL TIME***. read more

The three stars are for the service and portion sizes, the quality of the food is average at best. French onion soup on par with Panera bread, which isn't a bad thing but I think thats more kudos to Panera than it is to a French restaurant, in France. Sorry looking bolognese and a beef bourguignon which was more fatty low quality beef than anything actually edible. The place is a tourist trap, some items are wildly over priced, beers come in three different sizes so keep an eye on which one youre ordering, I didn't get burned because thankfully the waiter has a heart and brought me a medium but the largest size was insanely priced i don't recall exactly what it was but i wanna say it was north of €20. The restaurant is on a corner across from the Louvre so that can be convenient if you dont care too much about what youre eating. read more

I ended up at this awful place twice because I booked two excursions through Viator who booked with Paris City Vision across the street. You see Paris City Vision has no toilettes and you can either walk a block to McDonald's or pay through le nose at Le Carrousel. Service is bad. This is the only place I did not leave a tip. I know you don't have to in Paris, but I always left tips. The waiter put his grubby hands all over my croissant and I told him I changed my mind. He didn't accept that. Sorry. The waiter is an ass hole. We originally sat to eat and then realized we would not have enough time for a sit down meal. We promptly got up and went to the bar and explained our change of plans. The waiter decided to "throughly" explain the difference in sitting down and eating to go. He would only address the women in our group and would not look the men in the eye and didn't bother to give us the same "explanation." (We were on the other end of the restaurant or i would have had an explanation of my own.) Waiter is a coward and extremely rude. We've travel all over and love Paris. True tourist trap trying to pretend to be fine Parisian cusine. It was our worst dining experience in France. We had been at the Louvre all day, my wife and were both hungry and looking at all the options along Rue de Rivoli. We got charmed and pulled in by the waiter who has a knack for getting you into a chair from off the street (we watched him do it several times). The two things I had enjoyed in paris were foie gras and escargot. My wife finally got brave enough and ordered them here. The FG was served with white toast that resembled wonder bread. It was awful quality for foie gras. I am thinking it was another type of loaf pate. She was disappointed her bravery was not rewarded. She was almost in tears. Then the escargot arrived. EVERYWHERE else we had tried escargot, it was finely prepared with clarified butter and herbs and garlic. Here it tasted like mush and margarine. Truly awful. She did cry. Not a single thing we ordered was good. Everything was hastily prepared without much thought or care. Please DO NOT let them pull you in. If they do, please get out. Stand and walk. Do not feel obligated to stick it out and suffer out of politness. It will ruin one of your precious meals in a city filled with amazing eateries. ANYWHERE is better than Le Carrousel. Tourist trap of all tourist traps! After the Lourve we were famished so walking around this was one of the first spots we saw. The waiter literally herded us in off the street and after taking a quick peek at the menu we decided to go for it. While the food was fine for both of us the prices are sky high making not much bang for your buck here. My husband ordered two Coke's and that was €19. I get it- but ugh!
