Be aware of this restaurant near the Eiffel Tower, Chez Ribe 13 Avenue de Suffren 75007 Paris, next to the Pullman Tour Eiffel. I should've known better when we saw the waiters standing outside asking you to come in to dine. After we finished with dinner the waiter brought the bill & came back with card machine. When we gave him our card he said should I add a 15% tip? It put us in an awkward position because we were with some friends. It felt forced. My husband then just said put 10% down for a tip. It felt dirty & awkward. Food was just ok. The steak was tough & the salad was not passable for a salad. Do not go to this restaurant! For reference, in France the tip is already included in the price of the meal. If you wish to leave a Euro or two because you like the service but a 15% tip is highway robbery! read more

We walked to a restaurant just a few minutes from our room and decided to stop in for brunch, along with some desserts. We were seated outside it was a beautiful day, breezy but full of sunshine absolutely perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors. Our server sat us quickly, and both the desserts and meals came out fast. The food was good, but I did feel it was a bit pricey about $120 for brunch. When it came time to pay, the server brought the check to our table and took our card. From what I understand, tipping in Paris isn't mandatory but is appreciated, and typically, service and taxes are already included in the bill when you dine in. So, I didn't feel tipping was necessary. However, the server asked directly if we wanted to add a 5% or 10% tip, which made things a bit awkward. I think he knew we were from the U.S., where tipping is much more common. It felt a little uncomfortable, but we ended up leaving a tip anyway. I know we're in a major tourist area, so prices are higher, but overall, it felt like we tipped more than we had planned to. read more

If you like bland, overpriced, made with the cheapest ingredients food and wine that has been opened for days and/or mixed in with other bottles, come to this tourist trap. You will be served by salesmen who will treat you unprofessionally, call you by the name of a city of your country repeatedly, like they thought they were the funniest, coolest comedians. I cannot believe how the man who served us ended up giving us a bottle of water that cost us €10! I cannot believe he told me that the beef bourguignon with pomme vapeur was good when what I got was pieces boiled meat in a dark flavorless soupy liquid with a chunks of potatoes and carrots. Fake bourguignon. Everyone else in my party did not enjoy their food. Chicken escalope was dry and tasteless, accompanying pasta was flavorless. Grilled steak with blue cheese was dry, chewy tough meat. Braised lamb looked and tasted nothing French. We were so disappointed and regretted having walked into this trap at the last minute. We had a reservation next door but there was a private party going on so we ended up at this restaurant across the street. We weren't the only ones unhappy. Other customers left hurriedly and looking forlorn, leaving behind food that seemed untouched. What a waste but how can you eat food that's just inedible. There was another couple who was upset about something but I could not understand what the man was saying. I am guessing the food and the wine too. This restaurant and their employees should not do this to people. I stopped to look at the menu and the server was very aggressively trying to get me to sit down. Agree with the other comments that this place is a tourist trap with high prices and mediocre food, which makes sense given the area. I will say that the onion soup was fabulous but everything else we ordered was meh at best. Tables were so tiny that we could barely fit our food on them. Stopped by here our first night in Paris. I was eager to try escargot and I saw that they had them on the menu. Service was okay as the restaurant was pretty busy this night, bur our waiter still managed to take decent care of us. The escargot...I don't know what I expected but I like to keep an open mind when trying new foods because you never know what you like/don't like until you try it. Well, I absolutely enjoyed the escargot and am upset I didn't order more lol. Most people think eww snails, but they were honestly very delicious. Even my husband who is an extremely picky eater tried them and said they weren't bad at all. For the main dish I went with spaghetti and hubby went with salmon. These dishes were just okay, nothing special. For dessert, I ordered the crème brûlée which I couldn't thoroughly enjoy because it was melted and not the texture I'm used to. Cafe Ribe was right down the block from the Eiffel Tower. I met my parents and crashed their dinner I ordered the 'macaroni with morels' (morels are a type of fungi). This sauce was so creamy and rich and the morels added such a nice texture and flavor. It was a little earthy but was balanced out by the creamy sauce. I have to admit, I absolutely GOBBLED this dish up AND sopped up the remaining sauce with some baguette. No regrets. I left so full and fulfilled. Amazing dish and ambiance being right by the tower. Stopped in here while walking the city after our flight arrived before check-in. We were a little tired and craving some onion soup and charcuterie for a snack (plus a little rosé) after seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time. While the prices were a little high (to be expected with its proximity to the tower), we were very happy with the service. We didn't even notice they welcomed us 15 minutes before they actually opened, which was above and beyond. The meat and cheese charcuterie was decent enough. The pâte was the big winner. Very good. The cheese selection was ample but the meats weren't super. The chorizo was especially chewy, which made me feel like a cud-chewing camel before I gave up and deposited it into my napkin. Not bad, but I know Paris has better. The onion soup was more bread and cheese than broth and very few onions. Of the four onion soups we sampled in our four days in Paris, this one was the fourth-best. Too cheesy, to be honest. Still, it was a welcome stop with great service and a kind staff. The tables were kind of small as I'm a big tall, but this is Paris. I understand completely. I felt really tall. Haha! Not a bad meal, but definitely not the best we experienced during our time in Paris. There are just so many more options to try so I don't think we'll be back with others to experience. read more

This is a lovely little cafe in the vicinity of the Eiffel Tower. Although it is in a very touristy part of town the outside seating is very nice and was great for people watching. They have a great menu, prices are high but not too high, and the steak frites is pretty darn good. While staying across the street at the Pullman (and from the Eiffel Tower), this seemed like an easy place to get some coffee and snacks in the afternoon. Our stop did not disappoint. The service was reasonably quick, helpful, and our server spoke English which helped with my broken French. Importantly, our afternoon coffees were pretty good. My cafe creme turned out to be pretty standard though my dad's first coffee in Paris was 'weak'. Chez Ribe couldn't help my dad's American taste buds nor his almost coffee filled veins needing STRONG coffee. We husband and I shared a charcuterie plate. The cheeses were delicious; the goat cheese was soft and creamy. Yum! My dad got a hot dog with cheese on it paired with some fries. Again, he wasn't thrilled, but my husband ate the rest which he didn't seem to mind. Overall, it was a nice first spot in Paris this time around. Helpful staff. Pretty good food/ drinks. I would like report an incident that happened last Friday, May 16, 2025 between 6:30 pm & 8:30 pm in front of your cafe. Our group was passing by your cafe to go to dinner. A man from your cafe wearing a white shirt and dark jacket started to harass us. He asked us if we were Filipinos. One of the ladies in our group said yes. This man started blurting bad and offensive curse words to us like demonyo (demon or devil), impacto (evil spirit) and cabron (in Spanish means cunt). We did not react or say anything back to him. We just kept on going. After dinner at around 8:30 pm, we passed by again in front of your cafe. The same man came out from the back of the cafe and started yelling those insulting and harassing words again. This time some of the guys in our group confronted him and asked why he is harassing us. It is insulting and demeaning hearing those bad words being yelled at us specially in the presence of our wives. There were some customers eating at your cafe that were laughing as they probably understood the meaning of those bad words. During the confrontation, one of our friends took a picture of the man harassing us it is now posted in Yelp and Trip Advisor. Because of this incident, your cafe will have a bad review and reputation specially with the Asian tourists because of his bad behavior. This man should not be working for your cafe if this is the way he is going to behave. Tourists come to Paris for vacation, to have a good time and eat good food and not to be harassed or ridiculed. This person is giving your cafe a really bad reputation. read more

Yum the biggest disappointment of my whole trip to Paris was not having more time to come back here again! Both times we came I had the Beef Bourguignon and it was exceptional. The flavors were so rich,the sauce was nice and thick, and the meat just fell apart so easily on the fork. Every bite was savored! The first night the waiter was so much fun, he said my partner looked like an old coworker of his an showed us a photo and there was quite a resemblance! I was looking for a pretty good breakfast before I hopped on a train to meet friends in Amsterdam and I saw that this place opened at 8am which gave me enough time to sit down and eat before I headed out to the train station. I was the first person to step inside of the place and was greeted by the awesome hostess/server who thought they weren't opened yet and then she checked her watch and realized she was wrong lol...we got a good laugh out of it. I grabbed a seat and glanced over the menu and saw some goodies, but I went with the published deal of a croissant, French bread with jam, juice of choice (pineapple) and a ham and cheese omelet. Very good but all the bread filled me up before the omelet got there so I only ate half of it. Good spot to stop in for breakfast if you're staying near the Eiffel and service is good. read more

First french style dinner in France and how was it? Pretty darn good overall. I've heard that the French take there time eating and while that's great for those not on a time crunch, it proves to be a challenge when you're in a hurry. Server literally was taking care of about 12 tables, while also busing it as well. It's not easy, but the saying goes, quality of over quantity. Besides the slow service, the food was great. I'm not able to say I've had escargot in France! Vlva la France! The smoked salmon was great, but paying nearly five euros for a sprite was a bit much. They order frequently and the fish was very fresh. Cooked medium as I ordered. Absolute amazing flavor and portion size. The green beans were huge portion and throughly cooked, served with a tiny bottle of olive oil! The rice, was well so light it needed a cover to keep It from floating away.
