On our way to the Eiffel Tower, we came across this bustling and very cute cafe. It called out to us and we sat outside on this unseasonably warm day, 76 degrees!! (Note: the sitting outside was lovely except there were quite a few smokers outside as well, so smoke wafted around us for most of the of the meal.) On the bright side, a couple with an adorable chocolate lab named Amaya sat next to us, and she was the friendliest and cutest pup. Loved her! We ordered zucchini croquettes with tzatziki, crispy gambas with avocado & pomegranate seeds, chicken breast on the bone, & pomme tart tatin. (The restaurant requests that every diner orders an entree.) My friend also ordered calf liver which she said was delicious, but I can't comment on that. To drink, we had Aperol spritzes & they were the perfect drink for the evening. (We also received two mini savory rolls & a bread basket that were included with our food.) Everything was honestly very good. The portions are decently sized. The prices are quite high for sure, (152 euros), but I assume that this is par for the course in this neighborhood in Paris. The service was very efficient and helpful. There was basically one waiter handling about 10 tables & he was ripping and running all over the place. But he got the job done along with some help from the maitre'd and several other folks. The restaurant is elegantly decorated inside, and they have a cute bar, lovely bathrooms, and tons of seating. There are fresh flowers everywhere inside, and it is quite lovely. This is the sort of place that had a mix of clientele, but most seemed like locals, and the atmosphere was upbeat and convivial. Again while expensive, I do think L'alma offers a special dining experience and I recommend it. Peace. read more

This was a really nice experience. Open air eating. Fortunate that no smokers were present while I was eating. I enjoy the rare delight of a glass of wine. A sovereign blanc to go with my salmon. All of it was delicious!! I believe I even had the crème brûlée, not on my must return to list, but I enjoyed the visit and dining experience for that days option. Came in without reservations during a cold evening with two friends. I got stuck in Paris from a canceled flight overnight and the restaurant was directly across from my hotel and within walking distance from the Eiffel Tower. The restaurant was warm and cozy, the decor was elegant and the server was pleasant. I ordered the Sea Bass with a side of veggies, dessert and wine which I can't recall the name of. I enjoyed the entire meal and vibe of the restaurant. I'll definitely return when visiting Paris. read more

AVOID! Illegal practices and humiliating treatment. The waitress refused to serve us tap water (a legal obligation in France) by claiming they didn't have any, then heavily pressured us to buy alcoholic drinks. Her attitude was extremely condescending. When we pointed out her mistake, she became angry and made us feel like we weren't "spending enough" for their establishment - even though the restaurant was half empty! Was walking along and stumbled upon this very cute cafe. Took a quick look at the menu outside and we decided to dine for a lunch. Right off the bat very friendly service, they also offer a separate menu in English which was helpful. The interior has great natural light and is all-around so charming. Not sure if it's because I didn't have expectations going in, but this had to be one of my favorite spots I dined at while in Paris. Sardine and squid starters were delicious. I believe they were pan-fried so not super oily like fried foods often are in the States. They also provide olives and almonds (which were seasoned and delicious, not sure what the seasoning was here) so if you enjoy a glass of wine or two, that pairs wonderfully. I did the octopus for my entree and it was absolutely incredible. Tender, well seasoned, and accompanied by tender eggplant. I often feel that eggplant is hard to execute without it being doused in oil, and they did a great job. If I'm ever back in Paris, I would absolutely come back! read more

This was THE WORST restaurant I have eaten at in Paris over the last 34 years and have been here at least 3 times. They forgot my salad dressing and the waitress couldn't care less because she never came back to check on how everything was with our starters. My husband's steak was still MOO'ING - ABSOLUTELY RAW - even on the outer side!!! Sent back to kitchen and came out even rawer. My son's salmon was a little less raw than sushi style so only ate a few bites - he likes sushi. My chicken came out without half the dish - made the awful mistake of asking for French fries instead of potatoes, so no mushrooms and no gravy, but frisée I never asked for....after I had a frisée appetizer salad - plus the chick thigh bone meat was raw. Told manager wasn't going to pay for steak and he claimed they took original and turned over and cooked some more. Told him they did not because he got a whole steak back the second time and he then called me a liar. But still came back..... RAW. They made it quite clear that the customer doesn't come first because both the manager and waitress accused me of LYING!!!! We found this restaurant after a very long and tiring walk from one side of Paris to the other to visit the Eiffel Tower. The menu sounded interesting so we stopped to rest. Two of us had a pasta dish. Basically macaroni and cheese. But the cheese was smooth and creamy and had thin slices of julienned ham on top. Delicious. The third person in our party had lentils with a "crispy egg." Sounded interesting. The crispy egg was a soft boiled egg, breaded and fried, on top of a stew of lentils. Also delicious. From here, the walk to Eiffel Tower took about five minutes. read more

We found this place after visiting the Eiffel Tower. They seated us immediately without reservations. I had an excellent whiskey sour and my wife has a delicious glass of red wine recommended by the server. My wife had Thai beef entree and I had seared Tuna steak over vegetables with a spicy sauce. Both were excellent. For dessert we had the chocolate and caramel tart with vanilla ice cream which was also very good. Overall, great food at reasonable prices. read more

I came here with my wife and kids and it was easily the best meal we had in Paris. I had the beef tenderloin with pepper sauce and frites. The steak was cooked to perfection and the frites were crispy on the outside and the potato tender and warm in the middle. My wife and youngest daughter had the pasta risotto with ham and black truffles. My daughter said it tasted like the best Mac and cheese she's ever had! My other daughter had roasted chicken with asparagus and cleaned her plate. It's near the Eiffel Tower, so it's very convenient. The prices were average and the service was exemplary! read more

An elegant and trendy brasserie with exceptional service. Not typical in that they seem familiar with the concept of sharing plates and even have menu items suggested for sharing. Not impressed. We went here on the recommendation of the concierge in our hotel. We asked for young, lively, not necessarily expensive - but great food. We got none of the above. There was practically no one in the restaurant (which made sense because it was stuffy and expensive) and the crowd was quite a bit older (people who could afford it). I would have been more forgiving if the food was good.. but the bread was old and stale (it made you work for it), and the dishes were glorified mac 'n cheese and a steak with french fries.. We chose this restaurant/bar due to its name - one of our favourite local restaurants back in south London is called the alma...which is obviously a fortuitous name as our visit here was pretty good. It was a rainy Sunday in October and we were able to sit under the awnings with the heat lamps on watching the rain fall. I don't know about you, but I think this is one of the most wonderful things in life to do! It's the perfect people watching opportunity (am I mean for liking watching people rushing around in the rain?!) and it's wonderful to be so warm and cosy whilst the outside world which is just seconds from you is wet, harried and miserable. kinda like a more sociable version of lying cosy in bed whilst the rain spatters against the window! of course...you can get this almost anywhere in paris, so this experience is not exclusive to l'alma by any means. We ordered wines and beers, and although expensive, it was something we were happy to pay - we were on holiday, after all! I'm sure as a local I would be much more discerning about where I choose to spend my money, and probably wouldn't frequent this place too often. With our drinks we were also provided with olives and nuts which I always appreciate as a nice touch. We didn't look at the food menu, so couldn't comment on that or the prices. When I went inside to use (the very nice) bathrooms, it was modern, spacious and cosy inside and there were several locals enjoying a chilled out Sunday afternoon with coffee, alcohol and the papers. On my recent daytrip to Paris, I got into the city at 10am and was starving! I wanted to go to a cafe that was not on the main streets. I came across Cafe de l'alma. First of all it was quaint and quiet perfect for a saturday morning. I sat inside with a great view of the people passing by. I ordered my cafe creme with 2 soft boiled eggs. The coffee was big and perfect! The pick me up was just what I needed for my day of sight-seeing. The soft boiled eggs were great! I have never been a fan but somehow dipping my baguette into the yellow yolk changed all of that. I really enjoyed this cafe and if I am ever in Paris (which trust me will be VERY soon) breakfast will be at this cafe! read more

By far our favorite meal in Paris, we saved the best for last. I am a typical Californian and love avocados, I didn't even know avocado carpaccio was a thing and this appetizer was flat out amazing. I had the chicken in morel sauce with asparagus and mashed potatoes and my husband had the tuna and honestly, he raved about it for days. Once again, I'm not sure one can go wrong with wine anywhere in France, but we again got an amazing bottle, perfectly matched to our meal, even though we were both eating something different. Our service was great, the waiter was very attentive and even though his English wasn't perfect, he did the best he could and I definitely can't fault him for not being fluent. This place was pretty good. I came here for a family event and we ate upstairs. I would say the food was about 75-80 % food on a scale to 100. All of the food is typical French and you will not be let down. My family is pretty particular and they ear here on a constant basis so it must be pretty good. Very nice restaurant, beautiful atmosphere and fantastic food. We had Tuna with Szechuan pepper sauce (absolutely fantastic sauce) with mashed potato (very creamy, delicious). My wife had salmon with soy sauce which was delicious. You have to try the green been appetizer. Our waitress was superb, she made recommendations which were great. They also have a English menu, which make it easier to select dishes.
