Maybe the absolute worst service I've received in France. Truly, I'm sure many have heard to be wary about being mistreated as an English speaking tourist in France but luckily, I've not had that experience anywhere but here. The person who sat us was extremely wired and ready to rid of anyone who annoyed him...which was everyone. I even asked the server to order and he shook his head (in disappointment) and walked away. Needless to say, I decided NOT to order anything else and to make my way to the exit immediately after paying for my drink. I do not recommended this place if in Paris. read more

We stumbled on this place by chance (we had intended to eat at another nearby spot but it was jam packed and loud and we wandered up the street and saw this place and liked the look and the menu), and were very happy we did and were surprised after the fact when we read so many negative reviews as our experience was the polar opposite. First, the maitre d' and server was extremely friendly and welcoming, and although there were only two of us and most of the tables were occupied and he initially took us to a 2-top table, we asked if we could have the 4-top table that was right next to the door onto the quiet side street (so that we could enjoy the air) he gladly accommodated us. The menu included many classic French bistro dishes, but there were two specials--duck skewers and with rice and vegetables, and a salmon dish, and we ordered these and were very pleased. There were also some interesting non-standard regional French wine options. The waiter was attentive and friendly to us and as far as we could tell was the same to the other patrons. All in all we had a great dinner and pleasant experience and would have returned on another night except this was the last night before they closed for summer congé. When I return to Paris I will definitely return to this restaurant! read more

I do not think I have ever been treated so rudely as I was here in my 58 years of eating out at restaurants. Easily the nastiest proprietor I have encountered. I can only imagine it must be that he hates English speaking tourists because the place was busy and I can't imagine he would stay in business very long if he treated all people like he treated me. He basically mimicked me when I asked for the check- this after a seemingly quiet and straightforward drink I ordered from another waiter. It was strange how nasty this proprietor was to me- and it wasn't as if I had it coming- I was sitting there by myself, very unassuming and totally quiet and pleasant. The only memorable experience is the manager a/k/a le douche du petit hair, but avec grande attitude. He definitely hates Americans, but his faulty memory and inability to write, or maybe write anything down, were his character flaws which should not have been blamed on us. The insistence on a tip was an outage... we finally relented and gave him what he earned: ZERO. PS If your car needs some battery acid, ask for the French onion soup to-go as that is its very best use-case; it is certainly not suitable for human consumption even for one with le stomach du cast iron! read more

We stopped in after the Musée D'Orsay on a busy Saturday afternoon. We were seated at a table and when we ordered were met with an incredibly rude disposition and attitude from the waiter. I don't like writing reviews like this as I work in the service industry too, but this was an awful experience. The owner was seated on a table behind me and kept staring at what I was doing my phone screen which was really odd and invasive and when I went to pay for my 5.50 euro coffee the waiter kicked up a fuss because I didn't have cash and because super passive aggressive by keeping me waiting for ages and intentionally ignoring me when I had to leave for an appointment. I had no intention of rushing the staff, but they (the waiter and owner) were being so obnoxious and both making fun of my French together in front of many customers. I stormed out in a huff and have never done anything like this before, but I can't say it felt good! Not really sure why you'd run a restaurant like this in a popular destination if you have such shocking interpersonal skills. read more

Just walked out of this place and my heart is racing ... we walked down the street aways to avoid the more crowded cafés. They had cute sidewalk seating, so we sat down... waiter was helpful and understood our broken French however we sensed some tension. It got cold, so we moved inside and then understood. The man behind the bar was hostile and unwelcoming because we did not know French. When we tipped the waiter, our customary American 20%, he laughed at us and told us it was a good cop, bad cop, role-play, so that he could get more money from us. Stopped in here for lunch on our way between Musee d'Orsay and the Delacroix House Museum. Seemed far enough away from d'Orsay to not be a tourist trap, and that was definitely the case. I think we were the only English speakers in the place. Our server was very patient and polite with my poor French (even came back at one point to make sure he had our order correct) and everything came out perfect. I had an interesting cocktail that was sort of like an Old Fashioned but with fresh apples. Sweetie had a mojito that was also well made, both were really refreshing on a very hot day. I really couldn't deal with "hot" food given the heat so I ended up getting the Beef Tartare. I'm not an expert on the dish, but I really enjoyed it here with the ample fixings I was provided with to season as I wanted (hot sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, etc.) My sweetie got a chicken dish in a creamy, tarragon-spiced sauce that he was raving about, said it was one of his favorite meals in Paris. Alongside of this we had the buffalo mozzarella salad which was also really good (I'm not sure it was the proper way to enjoy, but I loved the mozzarella with my beef on a chunk of soft and fresh French baguette. ) Also really good was the salad and fries both our meals came with. We were too full at this point to try any desserts. Overall this was a really outstanding - and satisfying - lunch and if I ever am back in Paris, in this area, I'd be sure to stop in again. read more

We went there after a long day at the Louvre. The bartender / only employee there was very unwelcoming. He had no interest in taking our order and even expected us to go to the bar to give it him. The restaurant was empty only 2 tables with Patrons. We walked away and he seemed pleased. read more

Oh boy am I glad I found the name to this place! Listen, I took a European trip in 2018 & even though my reviews are a little late, I really wanted other people to know about how amazing the places were. This is one of the most memorable places for me! I was no Yelper back then so I didn't think of taking pictures of certain things but I took a picture nearby here & had to look at the map, googling pictures & location by location until I finally found this place!! I just want to say WOW. The food here was beyond expectations for me. We went quite a few places during our stay in Paris but this was by far my favorite! As soon as we arrived, the waitress was kind, she seated us, we of course, requested to be outside as I am a smoker (soon to quit, pinky promise)! But she handed us each a menu, helped us understand what the heck we were looking at & spoke English pretty well. We were kind of sad that we didn't get to use much of our French since we practiced a lot before going! LOL! But there was gentleman sitting next to us and his food looked so yummy I just told her I wanted whatever he was having lol. This, ladies & gentleman, was the first day I was ever introduced to, my now favorite, Croque Madame!!! Jeezusss Lowrddd how I enjoyed my meal!! The view was beautiful outside, temperature was amazing until the sun started to set it was a bit chilly but other than that, it was perfect. I also got to order some Creme Brûlée & ate it for the first time ever too!! I gotta say, maybe I had higher expectations for the dessert but it wasn't disappointing either. What I love about Europe is also that nobody ever gives you your tab without you asking for it lol. There was no rush, waitress checked on us rarely but it was okay because it's annoying when people don't let you eat in peace haha. The experience was lovely. Stop by if you get the chance! Disgusting spoilt food for outrageous prices. Overly salty horrible onion soup filled with grease; spoilt chicken in Caesar salad (!) costing 14 euros! Horrible in every respect. Had a wonderful lunch! Staff was polite and prompt. The outdoor seating was prefect for the mild weather we're having. The street traffic got a bit busy at times but wasn't too bad. I had the Corque Monseur au pain de campagne and my wife ordered the Corque Madame au pain de campagne. The cheese was great, which I'm learning is standard for Paris. The fries were crispy and not too cooked. The side salads were fresh and tasty. Price was good. We're very happy with the life lunchtime cafe stop. read more

Such a wonderful little restaurant while on our way to the Louvre. We were tired and hungry. We were greeted warmly at the door seated immediately. We ordered lasagne and chicken skewers. Both dishes were prepared and presented well. The lasagne was so fresh and full of flavor; homemade noodles with a great ragu. The chicken skewers were tender with a fantastic marinade and sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed this delightful little neighborhood cafe. We will go back for the lasagne, crème brûlée and the other imaginative things that they have, common and not so common. Don't worry about the language barrier, there isn't any. read more

When we first got here, we wondered how it was rated with 5 stars on YELP. Then we ate lunch. The menu is pretty standard for a little bistro in Paris but the quality of preparation exceeds the norm. I had their chicken with tarragon sauce. The chicken was a pan sautéed pounded chicken breast bathed in a delicious tarragon cream sauce. My husband had the steak, perfectly done with a tasty sauce. Great with their fries. The service is excellent with a young woman handling all the tables. There is a Bar man who makes an excellent expresso. The cook should be commended. We tried this cafe based upon prior yelp reviews and it was quite close to our hotel, Hotel Le Bellechasse. This place looks to be quite popular with the university crowd as all the sidewalk tables were taken. Plenty of room inside with great view of the square. There was one server who handled everything well. We started with wine and a wonderful charcuterie with cheese. Highly recommend this. You won't be disappointed. We could have been satisfied with this but it seems every yelp reviewer gets the chicken with tarragon sauce so two of us got this. Terrific! Caesar salad portions were good size as well. Creme brûlée was great also. The rest of the menu is fairly basic with steak and fries and burgers and fries. Prices were reasonable. The server warmed up to us once we explained she is famous on yelp! Incredibly,I'm not sure she had used it before! She actually logged on while we were there and asked us if she had the reviews. In any event, highly recommend this for a casual, low key place to watch Parisians and eat good food at a reasonable price. What else can you ask for in Paris?!?! read more

Our best meal in Paris. The steak with pepper sauce was excellent. Much better than the steak and frites you have in many Paris cafes. The duck was also the best we have tried in Paris. It was served in a nice brown Bordeaux sauce, with fries and salad of course. Finally the ham and cheese sandwich was really good. Served open faced finished in a convection oven to toast the bread and melt the cheese. The service was excellent and very friendly! Will recommend to friends. read more
