Laynes Chicken Fingers
Ahmad W.

First time visiting with my niece and my nephew. They grew up eating tenders and fries. My niece got blessed with a new job so we went out to celebrate. When you get close in the gps look out because the building comes up fast. First off I'm going to talk about the customer service here which is excellent! The cashier is very helpful. I didn't get her name. The team here are on point for sure! The establishment has been in business since 1994! I don't eat Chick-fil-A anymore this place food tastes better and fresher to me! No chemical chicken sandwich. The food is delicious! Personally I like this place better than Zaxby's! Everything here is fresh! You smell it before you eat it with out trying. My niece got a 4 tenders plate my nephew got a 3 tenders plate. I got a chicken sandwich which is delicious with sauce on the side that I poured on my sandwich. I also got a kids meal 2 tenders with fries and a small drink I got the lemonade it's better than Chick-fil-A lemonade. I ate the fries from my kids meal and I drank the lemonade and I ate my delicious sandwich. I took my 2 tenders to go with my sauce. Pull up and check them out definitely worth the trip! I wish that I had a location much closer to me! They have been around since 1994.

Just tried this place and it's going to be our go to spot for chicken tenders now. In my opinion, it's better than Cane's. Mainly because the chicken and sauce is more flavorful. Quality of the meat is the same, which is good! We've gone twice now and the service has been great both times. The only thing I don't like is the fluorescent lighting, it's too bright for my liking. We'll be back!

4 piece tenders

I was super excited to try this new location in my neighborhood! This location is in the same plaza as the Human Bean. It's on the corner of Eves and Holcomb Bridge. It's a smaller plaza so the free parking is probably only about 50 spaces. The menu is extremely similar to Zaxby's. They have a drive thru as well. I ordered from the drive thru as I was pressed for time. The menu is simple enough. The prices are about $2 more than Zaxby's. Customer service was good! Unfortunately my food was very disappointing. I ordered the 4 piece chicken tenders meal with Layne sauce and Sweet tea. The chicken tenders are noticeably smaller than Zaxby's. The chicken was soooo bland. My fries were greasy like you could see the grease on the fries :( Texas toast was good! That Layne sauce was not too good either. Not disgusting... just not good! Now the sweet tea was delicious! I'm not sure if this place will survive as Zaxby's is literally 3 traffic lights down the road. I will definitely be passing this place on my way to Zaxby's. I had Raising Cane before and it was amazing so maybe my expectations were too high! I just knew that with a menu the same as Zaxby's that they would bring it!!!! Unfortunately it is a No for me

Three finger plate with Layne's sauce. Yes...better than Cane's and plenty of food for $10.

First off, I am a big fan of Raising Cane's. Unfortunately the closest one to me is over 30 minutes away. So I was excited to hear that something similar was coming to town about 15 minutes from me. It's still outside my normal lunch drive, but reasonable enough on occasion. I visited Layne's for the first time on their opening weekend in April. It's located in a small strip center off Holcomb Bridge pretty much in front of Centennial High School. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. Upon entry it was as expected. A quick service casual dining spot. It doesn't have the "flare" of a disco ball and loud music like Raising Cane's. That's a plus. There is a small counter with two people to take your order. Then you get a number and they bring your food to you. Mine came out right away. Drinks are self service Coke fountain products with pellet ice. It was clearly staffed extra for the Grand Opening. Everyone was nice. The food I think is actually slightly better than Cane's. Tenders are sauce as extremely similar to Cane's. I love the sauce. The tenders might be a little small as others noted, but three was still plenty for me. It was $10 for the meal so if I really wanted to indulge I could spring for the 4th or 5th finger, but I don't subscribe to the typical American way of scarfing large quantities of food down my mouth. The fries at Layne's are far superior to Cane's. Way crispier but not too crisp. The Texas toast was as good as Cane's and definitely better than Zaxby's. I went back with my son on May 5th, 2025. We beat the lunch crowd by a few minutes. We had a very good experience. Food was fast and fresh. My son agreed that overall it's the best of the chicken finger joints yet. He is a teenage boy and found the 3 finger plate to be plenty. He didn't even finish his fries and toast. We will definitely be back.

4 Finger Meal

Went through the drive thru and picked the 4 finger chicken finger plate with fries and Texas toast. The chicken was a bit chewy. The fries were crinkle cut variety and crispy. The toast was okay. Price was a bit high, higher than comparable Zaxby's menu item. They were a bit stingy with the dipping sauce giving only one very small cup. May give them one more shot and try a sandwich and shake.

Kids meal

My experience was great. I tried a kid's meal only because it was my first time and I didn't want to get a big meal and it ends up in a unsatisfied situation. Service was quick, fast, and on point. Everyone was very welcoming and so nice and my food was fresh and hot. I've had better tenders but I don't have any complaints about Layne's at all. I'd eat here again.

The last time we eaten here they still had servers coming to the table they have the kiosks now. We ordered at the kiosk and got our drinks and waited on them to call our name. The food came out hot and fresh the burgers taste better now than what I remember years ago and the fries I can tell they are indeed frying in the new beef tallow it does make a difference in the fry taste we both commented on how much we loved the fries more now compared to in the past and better than their competitor Freddy's steakburgers. My daughter also got a Biscoff cookie shake which was delicious and it also beat the competitor Dairy Queen out of the water who recently had a Biscoff blizzard seasonally ( we consider ourselves Biscoff cookie dessert experts). I know people frown upon kiosks but in this case having less workers helped them to improve the quality greatly and in this age improved and not lowered quality is a wonderful thing. If I lived in the area I would be a regular food did not take long and was fresh and hot the workers behind the scenes are doing a wonderful job.

New Take out | Dinner | $10-20…read moreI had a very upsetting and humiliating experience at this Steak 'n Shake location on November 1, 2026, at approximately 9:50 PM. I work part time as a delivery driver for Grubhub, Uber Eats, and DoorDash. I entered the restaurant to pick up a Grubhub order for a customer named Jacob. First thing when I entered a minute l looked around for my order and I approached the employee who was handling orders and I just said, "Pickup for Jacob." Nothing else,The employee was already wearing headphones. He accused me of yelling at him. I was not yelling or trying to be disrespectful. I may have spoken a little louder because he was wearing headphones and I wanted to make sure he could hear me. I asked him to be patient with me. What disappointed me was that the employee seemed more interested in accusing me of yelling than helping me complete the customer's order. The customer was waiting for his food, and the delivery was being delayed. I was there only to collect the order and leave. If the employee had simply handed me Jacob's order, I would have left immediately, quietly, and without any argument. Instead, the employee told me that the order had already been picked up and instructed me to get out and i got insulted so I then decided to purchase food for myself. The employee said he would not serve me and threatened to call the police. I paid $12.34 by credit card for my personal food, but the restaurant did not prepare or provide it. I later went outside and told my wife what had happened. My wife went inside and successfully collected the same Grubhub order for Jacob. This raises a serious question about why I was told the order had already been picked up when it was apparently still available. The situation became unnecessarily escalated. Police officers arrived,The officer spoke with the employee first and then told me that I had to leave.get your refund through customer service,I followed the officer's instruction and left. I was not arrested or cited. The most upsetting part was not the approximately $15. It was the humiliation, disrespect, and feeling that I was not given a fair opportunity to explain myself. I was simply doing my job as a delivery driver and trying to serve a customer. Delivery drivers are human beings too and every single one has different types of tone and personality and We very work hard, and we deserve the same basic courtesy and respect as every other customer. Our profession, appearance, or background should never be a reason to treat us as less important. I don't know anything about that employee but I am 5 star rated delivery driver in all delivery platforms, and I am proudly doing full time jobs too. I expect Steak 'n Shake management to take this incident seriously, review the available surveillance footage, and investigate the employee's conduct and the handling of the order. I also intend to explore what legal options may be available to me regarding this incident. I believe it is important to understand my rights and ensure that customers and delivery drivers are treated fairly and I promise that I am not guilty. I hope management provides a meaningful explanation and takes this complaint seriously.

My family and I visited your location for dinner late Sunday evening, August 16, 2026. We have…read morevisited this location several times, and overall, we have had positive experiences. During this particular visit, however, we noticed several concerns that we wanted to bring to your attention. First, the restaurant floor was extremely wet and slippery. We are not sure what cleaning product is being used, but the floor remained wet for an extended period of time. We understand the importance of keeping the restaurant clean, but the floor should also be safe for customers and employees. We recommend ensuring that floors are properly dried after cleaning and that any cleaning products being used do not leave the surface excessively slippery. We also noticed that the dining area was unusually warm. It appeared that the air conditioning may have been operating in the back of the restaurant where the employees were working, but the front dining area did not seem to have adequate air conditioning. The only noticeable air movement in the customer seating area appeared to be from a ceiling fan running at a very low speed. The temperature made the dining experience uncomfortable. We ordered the snack tray meals three of them, which was seven dollars each. You could pick up to four items which is very affordable for a family. If you would like to upgrade to a shake, you can do so for additional dollar 50 the cheese curds are very good. The burgers are good as well. The chicken nuggets were decent. The fries were good the okra you get a nice portion of it but it needs a little bit of seasoning on the okra. In our opinion a little salt, pepper, and or seasoned salt is needed. In addition, my husband used the men's restroom and noticed that there was no soap available in the restroom. There were also gnats/insects present in the restroom area. While we did notice a sink with a soap dispenser in the restaurant lobby, customers using the restroom should not have to leave the restroom to find soap. Because this is a restaurant serving food to the public, proper sanitation and cleanliness are extremely important. Restrooms should consistently be clean, stocked with soap, and free of insects. We would strongly recommend that management implement regular restroom checks throughout the day to ensure that soap and other necessary supplies remain available and that the area is properly cleaned and maintained. We want to emphasize that the food during our visit was hot and fresh, and the employees we interacted with were friendly. These concerns are specifically related to the conditions we observed during this visit. We have been to this location multiple times, and this was the first time we noticed these particular issues with the air conditioning, slippery floor, and men's restroom. We are sharing this feedback because we believe these matters can be addressed and improved. We appreciate your attention to these concerns and hope they will be reviewed with the appropriate management and staff to help ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for customers. Thank you for taking the time to review our feedback. We look forward to seeing improvements during our future visits.

I was a little disappointed with the portion sizes of the French fries and onion rings, although both tasted great. The milkshake was also thicker than I expected and was more like ice cream than a traditional shake. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'll definitely be back to give them another try. Hopefully next time they'll be a little more generous with the sides.

Orders take forever to come out, even if nobody is in the shop. I LOVE the original story of this business, and hot chicken is my favorite food...so it pains me to leave a mediocre review. Here's what I will say- fries, ranch, and pickles are great. I was immediately hesitant at only getting two tenders in a meal, but the tenders are MASSIVE. The flavor profile of both the hot and the extra hot is just ok to me. If you're someone who prefers a sweeter heat, go with it... but to me, it lacked savory flavor. Again, if sweet + spicy with not a ton of depth of flavor is your thing, go for it. I guess I'd say this- if you're a casual enjoyer of spicy food and are going to get a mild or medium, give it a go. But if you're a pepperhead like myself, I'd go elsewhere. I did enjoy the mozz stick.
