Been hearing about this place and finally gave it a try. I like that they had a wrap and sandwich options but I wanted to try the tenders first. Went with the spicy and tried the bbq and laynes sauce. Both were good. The toast was okay but not better than the competitors.

Laynes goes hand to hand with Canes. While I personally think that they have better chicken, everything else falls below Canes. The service is nice and clear. Ambiance is well lit, clean, and decorated with the history of the business. The food did come out a tad bit slower but surprisingly did not come out as oily. Definitely worth to try the fast food chicken tender contenders.

I asked where the Saigon Hustle restaurant was for an interview, and the manager from Laynes Chicken Fingers took me outside and pointed to a different building outside when the restaurant was actually in the same building. (I know you are going to refute this claim, or make something up, but I was there at 2:00 something PM) and the person working there pretended like he didn't know English, so I showed him the translation from English into Spanish :D Also, I tried adding a review on Google Maps, and they wouldn't let me. I have evidence and I am trying to add it, but Yelp won't let me for some reason.

I saw that they have wraps now so I had to try it because I'm a wrap fanatic! I think this was a nice break from the usual tender and fries. It was wrapped tightly and the chicken was crispy and quite flavorful. The simple addition of lettuce, cheese, and a wrap really elevates the chicken to a whole new level. Dipped into ranch and you got the perfect bite! Great if you want a lighter meal.

Extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. The chicken lacked flavor and crispness, as if it had been microwaved before serving. The toast was only done on one side, and when I asked about it, I was told I would need to specifically request both sides toasted. Overall, the food felt overpriced and bland.

They said that this place was a better Canes and yea they right Spicy chicken was 9/10 Fries are kinda the small as Cane The toast in my opinion is better but not a soft You can walk up or down drive thur

Man oh man I cannot wait till laynes has more locations because their chicken was AMAZING Super super tender and flaky and super crispy outside Their chicken actually has flavor without sauce compared to canes Their signature sauce was also different in flavor More tangier than canes but I liked it The chicken was the start of the show they also offer gravy which was nice but I preferred the signature sauce I can't wait for more closer locations

Layne's is a College Station Texas A&M classic, but unfortunately it's still mid for me. The chicken tenders I got were pretty small, and also dry and lacked any good flavor. It's hard to review this place without comparing to Cane's, and I think both the chicken and Texas toast are better at Cane's. The Layne's Sauce is more peppery than Cane's sauce, but has decent flavor and their fries are pretty good as well. The interior has cute TAMU-themed and College Station-themed decorations which improve the vibe overall, but I'd still go to Cane's for the better food.

I have only ever eaten at Cane's. I heard that this place was a competitor. I gotta say... when it comes to original, I still prefer canes, but this place has some very very good spicy tenders. I loved the spicy and I really like the variety of sauces available here. If I was in the mood for a tender with a little spice, I would be here for sure. It did not disappoint. Food was good. Sauces were good. And the shake was pretty good. I liked this place and would definitely come back. Service was pretty quick and friendly. And the place was clean and welcoming. I like Layne's just as much as any Cane's I've been to. Good place to get a quick meal!

Another 5 piece combo, spicy and regular chicken- so delicious. I can't wait to see what other new dishes are to come!

Not only is Laynes so nostalgic for me as a graduate of Texas A&M university, but I receive excellent service every time visiting the Katy location- as well as other locations, and Raahim has provided consistent great service and for that this is my new favorite location. It's about a 45min round trip for me but it's so worth it. Compared to Raising Canes, Laynes is king. From the sauce, to the chicken and drinks, it's a no brainer! Laynes consistently provides excellent food, regardless of the location. Growing up Raising Canes competed with CFA, once you try Laynes chicken you won't go back. Starting from a humble location in College Station, to opening another location across campus, to now having multiple locations I can enjoy across the nation. Raahim provides EXCELLENT service every visit, and embodies what Laynes is all about. From the great food, to the fantastic service, I am a lifelong customer. Raahim has made the experience so much better, by bringing great vibes and creating a welcoming atmosphere, and he deserves the credit due; my family, and friends are lifelong customers as well. I'll be eating here until I stop breathing. Laynes is simply awesome!!! Worth every penny.

Layne's is just like Raising Cane's. I got the chicken fingers with a side of sauce and it was amazing. The chicken was great, super flaky and juicy while not being too oily. The sauce was more tangy than Raising Cane. I'd come back.

I would say this place is pretty comparable to Cane's. The spicy chicken was seasoned well and the fries were good. I personally did not like the piece of toast. Not my favorite type of bread especially since it just felt greasy. I've also had better side sauces. Overall I would go again but maybe try the sandwhiches since I did see they had beef bacon on the menu.

finally reunited with laynes! my first taste of their tenders was at the original location in college station. im glad they've expanded into the houston area now! their tenders are crispy and well-seasoned! we went for the spicy option which was super flavorful. the best part is their sauce options! my personal favorites were the layne's sauce and ranch. and to wrap up our meal we got the oreo and strawberry milkshakes - a sweet treat and the perfect way to finish our meal! staff was friendly and our order came out quickly! what we got: - the 5 finger original - the club sandwich meal - oreo milkshake - strawberry milkshake ig: @whatsviveating

This is honestly one of the best rides I've ever had. It's well seasoned and not overly salted at all. The crunch on every bite is amazing! It could not get any better. ***Sandwich (level: honey butter) --- honey butter was a bit lackluster in flavor and texture. Of note, the Whataburger honey butter sauce is much better. That said, my go to order is the Soy Garlic and Honey Garlic Wings. They're crispy, juicy, not over sauced and cooked perfectly. I love the pickled radish though be forewarned if you're not used to them. They will stink but trust me. They taste better than they smell. One important note about Korean wings: since they're double-fried, the bones will break and splinter pretty easily so BE VERY CAREFUL about giving them to younger kids unmonitored. Other items I've tried and while good, not what I would drive here to get (especially with how expensive the wings are). Traditional Original: Reminds of me Hooters wings a little. A bit too plain for me and while they're good, the flavored wings are why I come here. Boneless wings - Tried a couple and while they're good, not worth the price. But we do get these for the younger kiddoes. Secret sauce wings: I'd skip these. Flavor isn't bad, but way over-sauced and the wings are borderline soggy. Needless to say, they don't have the same crisp the Soy Garlic and Honey Garlic wings have.

The sides were all good. It was just a lot of fried food. My wife's chicken avocado sandwich was huge. A massive chicken breast split and tons of avocado. I got a bite and it was very good. Also, I looked at the fans and thank goodness she did not turn them on! The dust was so thick and would have ended up getting all over everyone eating. What is it with the Katy locations A/C and bathrooms?! Is every JLB like this? I'm just trying to find a solid burger place since our move here. I'm just gonna stick to Old School Burger from here on out.

Our server was friendly, attentive, and had a great attitude from start to finish. Unfortunately, almost everything else felt like a step backward. The menu has been reduced dramatically. Once you take away the oyster selections, there are very few entrée choices left. Many of the dishes that kept me coming back are no longer offered. The drink menu has also been cut down significantly. They used to have a much better selection, and it just doesn't feel like the same restaurant anymore. Another frustration is that they're in an area with poor cell service, yet customer Wi-Fi is no longer available. Whether you're trying to check a message, work while you eat, or simply stay connected, it's almost impossible. As for the food, it was just okay. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either. I ordered the crab cake with the arugula salad and a shrimp cocktail. Ironically, the small arugula salad that came with the single crab cake was the best part of my meal. The crab cake and shrimp cocktail were fine, but neither was memorable or something I'd come back for. Overall, it feels like Half Shells has lost much of what made it special. Between the limited menu, reduced drink options, lack of Wi-Fi, and average food, it's no longer the destination it once was for me. I truly hope they reconsider some of these changes because I'd love to see this restaurant return to what made it such a great place to dine.
