I received high-quality service and nails from Layhill Nails and Spa last week. I called ahead of time to schedule an appointment with the next available nail technician and was able to get a quick appointment in for an emergency nail fix. I was greeted by a nail technician named Phuong. She was dressed professionally and also was very professional in greeting and talking with me about what I wanted for my nail services for the day. I showed her pictures of nail inspiration for what I was looking for and she was able to help me pick a color that would match what I wanted. I have been to many nail places where they rush through the process of asking you the shape of your nails, and the color that you're looking for, so I greatly appreciate the time that Phuong took to meet with me to talk before getting into the appointment. The facility was clean, well organized, and nail technicians were communicating with their guests. Many of which I could tell there were fostered relationships between them (which shows quality of service!) Unfortunately, the last place that I got my nails done left my nails very damaged and thin. Phuong do some suggestions for a future appointment that may help to strengthen my nails as they grow out. Phuong took her time to prep my cuticles and shape my nails properly. The good: I scheduled over the phone with Phoung. She was incredibly pleasant over the phone. I'm also very happy with the service. The mani and pedi were both thorough. The bad: Unfortunately, Phoung is efficient to a fault. She would rush me to remind me place my hand under the gel lamp by barking orders. She even grabbed my hands a few times to do so herself. Though thorough, I was not comfortable. I found her lacking in customer service. I emphasized that my nails were weak and asked for a strong coat overlay. She consistently ignored me telling me they were not. I now have a broken nail three days later. Overall, I don't think our personalities meshed well. I came and got a fill in and gel pedicure. I was met by the new owner and she was so kind and lovely. I felt very welcomed by all the staff members. Mindy did my hands and did such an amazing job shaping and painting them. I am in love with my nails. She really took her time, she didn't rush and had great conversation. Mary did my gel pedicure and she was such a sweetheart. She took great care of me and really took her time doing my pedicure. I am extremely impressed by all the staff members. Normally I don't leave negative reviews but I left so disappointed with my experience here yesterday that I felt it was needed. I went in for a pedicure. First thing was the chair. It is broken. I was unable to adjust the incline or the position. My technician "adjusted" it on her end but by the end of the session I was practically laying down. My nails were cut crookedly. I came in with square nails and left with a smorgasbord of shapes. Some were rounded, some square. Second, the paint job was horrible. Honestly! It looks like something that I have done myself. The first time there wasn't paint on the entire nail. Second time around it was uneven. I asked my technician if the two big toes could be redone... only for one to have a black spot. She redid it again but by that point I was done. Polish was left on my cuticles and skin. The polish was also rigid and uneven Overall highly disappointed and now seeking another salon to fix this error. read more

Pedicure is priced well for the area- typically I've paid $5-10 more than layhill nails & spa charges. Chi did my nails and she is low key- just let me read my book while she fussed. My sister and I called for pedicures and they were able to fit us in for an appointment that morning. They were even so sweet to fit in our little niece for a manicure. The owner was so lovely and really cared for niece, as she was interested in the whole process. The facilities are clean and they have a good variety of nail colors. Let me just start off with this, I don't usually get my nails done because I've had bad experiences. I got them done at a different salon for an event I had and I got gel. Within the first week my nails were chipping really bad and the nail polish was cracking. I was so devastated because my natural nails were so long and strong. I was greeted with such warmth and professionalism when I first walked in. The owner made me feel so comfortable. I've had horrible toenails all my life..I guess inherited! I use to live in Virginia and had someone who took care of me for MANY years. I would drive there from Silver Spring for many years to get the treatment and care she was familiar with. I finally found a salon 5 minutes away from me that actually focuses and caters to my needs!
