How I heard of this place: While Avenue Bread has been a Bellingham staple for a number of years,…read moreit was my sister, visiting from out of state that introduced us to the Fairhaven Cafe. Type of cuisine: Bread. All things freshly baked: bread edition. And all things on freshly baked bread. Sandwiches, pastries, coffees and more. Ambiance: Cozy, and vast, the space is equal parts grandma's country house charm and idyllic Fairhaven. The front is quickly bustling as we enter right as the doors open for the day, a line immediately building up behind. us. This spacious entryway full of menus in chalk and digitally are graced with a plethora of tasty options for snacks, meals, and treats enjoyed in the large, expansive restaurant or outside in the parking space-turned patio seating area. What I ordered: We selected four of their breakfast sandwiches on signature rosemary bread, each one as delicious as the last. For beverages, a mocha, an americano, and two steamed milks made their way to our table. What I loved: The sandwiches. Greasy, full, tasty and full of a novelty of tastes. They were devoured. Why I loved it: Quaint and cozy, a space for couples, families, friends and everyone in between. Cost: Average to high

The bread was tasteless and borderline stale, the tuna was very boring and blah, and they didn't put enough mayo on the bread so it was very dry. This is the second time I've had a sandwich at Davinci Classic Subs, I like to support local business's, so if I return for a third try I will not be having the tuna, and I'll ask for different bread. Tonight's dinner was a bit of a happy accident. We knew we wouldn't have time to cook, and while we…read morewere out we noticed a billboard for Piroshky Piroshky tucked into the back right corner of Lummi Bay Market. On a whim we ordered online and decided to give it a try. I haven't had pirogies since I was a very small child when my grandmother used to make them, so I honestly didn't know what to expect or even how much I remembered. I ordered a Bacon Hash Brown Egg & Cheese Piroshky and a Potato & Cheese Piroshky. My husband, who had never had pirogies before in his life, ordered two Beef & Cheese Piroshky. When we picked up our order, the sweet lady preparing it added an extra one for us -- I think it was called Orange Cream. I barely got a taste before my husband finished it off. The smell coming out of those bags on the drive home was amazing. Everything was warm and so good. My favorite was definitely the Potato & Cheese. And just like that, everything disappeared. Not a crumb left. It was such a good reminder that sometimes the random dinner decisions turn out to be the best ones.

I honestly don't understand why you would close around lunchtime, when most people are looking for something to eat between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. It makes no sense and is extremely inconvenient for your customers. Your food is good, but your prices are on the higher end. When customers are paying premium prices, they expect better customer service and dependable business hours. Instead, we've repeatedly shown up only to find you closed during the middle of the lunch rush. This has been a very disappointing experience. Good food can only make up for so much--customer service and reliability matter too, and both need significant improvement.
