We loved this little deli so much, we came back for lunch two days in a row! It's a small but busy spot with such a friendly and welcoming staff. They even remembered my husband on our second visit and helped us order in a way that kept us from overdoing it, super thoughtful and appreciated. The food was fresh and delicious both days, and we loved spotting some local Michigan treats on the shelves (a sweet touch for two Michigan natives now living in Seattle!). Great food, great people, and just the kind of hometown charm you hope to find when visiting a new place. Highly recommend! read more

Spring Street Deli was pretty good! The service: I came in when it was busy, so it took longer than I anticipated to get my food. The employees were so helpful and kind, though. The food: The employees make all the sandwiches by hand, customized by what you want in it. There's slips of paper on which you can circle what ingredients/type of bread/sauces you want and just give it to them at the checkout. Mine was made exactly as I ordered it, so kudos for that! The environment: It's a small sandwich shop, but not too crowded. It's a cute little restaurant. There's no tables or chairs, so all the food is to-go. Final thoughts: Spring Street Deli was a really cute place. However, I think next time I'll just make myself a sandwich at home, because it takes all the same ingredients but less time to make at home. This is a perfect place to stop for food while traveling, but besides that, it's not entirely worth it. read more

SSD... what do I have to say? There were a few factors in my experience as a whole that had left me puzzled about my experience. Service: Girl behind the counter seemed a little mean (I aint gonna lie) but I'm assuming she had a stressful day. WaitTime: It took 15-20 minutes to get a cold sandwich..honestly in most cases thats lowkey pushing it. But there was a line and I'm assuming that might've been a contributor to the attitude as well. Food: Dear god... The encounter my taste buds experienced was like no other. I was perplexed yet lucid, I was befuddled yet enlightened. Maybe it was because I had a long travel day before I got there and was pretty hungry, but that might've been the best goddamn sandwich of my life. Everything I had encountered beforehand had suddenly wafted away from my memory. Honestly the girl behind the counter could've spat in my face and I still would've tipped her for the sandwich I recieved that faithful day. My partner and I were exploring Friday Harbor and stopped in for a quick bite. It was pretty packed inside, as it was around lunch time, but once we figured out how to order, we got our sandwich pretty quickly. The staff was friendly and the Cousin Kelsey's Veggie sandwich was tasty! All the ingredients were fresh and the portion was generous enough that splitting the sandwich sated both of our appetites. Grabbed Sammies for the fam after getting off the ferry from Anacortes. The shop has great ratings, and I can see why. They catered to our picky eater of a daughter but didn't embarrass her at all, which was so sweet. We walked to the waterfront and ate at a picnic table. They also offer custom Sammies, ice cream, wine, beer and other drinks as well as chippies. Ambiance: funky and cute. No inside tables. There are some in the atrium but it's a close walk to the waterfront. Order: BLP 5/5: bacon jam, fresh hoagie, spinach, bacon, hot peppers, havarti. GET THIS! It was so delic and totally crave worthy. It is rich, so I ate half for lunch and half as a car snack 2 hours later. Spicy beefcake 4/5: my husband gave it 5/5 but I would say 4/5 only because it was low key hot IMO. BUT OMG delic as well. I think my little had a French bread sammie with turkey, provolone and lettuce and said it was really good and fresh. Everything was hand made and fresh and bright. Our sandwiches were one of the best meals we had on the island, and we were sad that it was our last meal as we would have gone back! They ladies make your sandwiches to order. They have drinks including beer in the cooler. There is no sitting so take your meal to go and enjoy the picnic tables near the ferry dock. read more

Dropped by to grab lunch before visiting other places on the island. Wasn't busy but I came during the off season. Enjoyed "The Classic Grinder". While I was expecting a hot, pizza like sandwich due to the "grinder" nomenclature, I received a nicely put together cold deli sandwich. The cost was about $10 and the sandwich was huge. Potato salad was about $3. I could only eat half the sandwich and had leftovers, great value. The potato salad was excellent and creamy as well. Staff were friendly and spoke loudly calling names so I didn't miss my order being called. Pro Tip: get your sandwich to-go and walk to the marina just North of Downriggers. Dropped by Spring Street Deli before catching the ferry out of town and was so glad I did! Sandwiches were top notch and stuffed with fresh fixings. The staff inside were super nice and took our orders directly because we were oblivious about the paper ordering system oops! The price wasn't too bad for what we got, and I'm still dreaming about the French dip I had. It's a great stop to grab lunch on your way out (the ferry, a park, the waterfront, one of the lighthouses). Definitely recommend! read more

The Spring Street Deli was slammed during our visit. There were at least 10 family orders placed before ours. The owner worked hard along side of another employee to get the orders out as quickly as possible. After a long commute I was pretty excited at the prospect of receiving a tasty deli sandwich. Unfortunately after patiently waiting both my daughter and I received sandwiches made with what appeared to be stale bread. It doesn't matter how good the cold cuts and veggies are because in the end the dining experience will plummet over bread that appears old and tastes unreasonably dry. We had to pluck off the insides with a fork and make do without the bread. With many restaurants lining both sides of the streets I don't see myself returning to this restaurant. read more

I heard that this deli was great, so I felt a bit let down by my sandwich. The pesto mayo ratio was too much pesto, too little mayo. The pesto flavor overwhelmed everything else on my sandwich. Also, the sourdough bread was too soft, to the point where my fingers went through it to the meat underneath. There was also very little sourdough flavor. If I ended up at this place again, which is not in my plan, I wouldn't get that particular condiment or bread. read more

COVID-19: I didn't see tables inside so it seems to be takeout only anyways. Masks obviously. Parking: Free 2 hour street parking. Roobie Doobie Reuben $10.99: I feel like sometimes you can get a Rueben and there's just a ridiculous amount of meat on it. This was a smaller sandwich but I personally prefer it that way because you get a better mix of cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing. I did not enjoy the bread though. We arrived in the afternoon and were planning to bike around the circumference of the island the next day, about 40+ miles. We had a fridge in our room, so we asked Spring Street if they could prep a sandwich for the next day - they did one better.... they offered to prep the sandwiches (2) for us and since they would be in the store early the next morning allow us to pick them up before the official hours of the store! That was perfect for us and we got a nice early start toward American Camp and the point because of them. The sandwiches were huge and tasted so great halfway through our ride! Full of fresh ingredients and well constructed they lasted in our bike bags all day and provided us a much needed boost around Lime Kiln park. If I go back to Friday Harbor again some day I will be sure to stop by Spring Street again to thank them and get a huge sandwich and cookies again! read more

Great little deli we found for lunch. My husband had the French dip, I had the tuna melt and we got a kids Turkey and cheese for our toddler. Everyone loved their food. We stop here every time we vacation in Friday Harbor. Food is consistently delicious and the staff always so hard working and kind. This place was amazing! We wanted a good sandwich for the ferry ride home and this place popped out as a local favorite. I had a Ruben with pastrami and my wife had a ham sandwich on marble rye. First of all they seem priced high, but after getting our giant sandwiches we are for 3 meals the prices were perfect. The pastrami was flavorful, thinly sliced, and super tasty. The entire sandwich was amazing, but the best part was the bread. The marble bread was epic and I would just buy that from them. All their meat, toppings, and sides were so tasty. The Grinder was amazing when I came in on Friday. However the next day when we came back because we couldn't stop talking about their sandwiches, they didn't make our sandwich to order. Great Deli Sandwiches and very friendly staff We stopped here to have sandwiches made to go visit Lime Kiln Park to sit and watch the whales. The staff was very friendly in the deli providing us all the different options, and opening up with small conversations. They seem to know everyone who is a local that walked into the store and were extremely nice to. Recommend visiting this place if you need a quick bite. Spring Street Deli started was started by Laura and David Flaum as a small local family owned and operated sandwich shop. In 2017 Courtney Oldwyn and her family took over the business and have continued on the Flaum's tradition of a family owned and operated, fast, friendly and delicious little shop!

The strawberries were sour, the cantaloupe looked like a 38 year single dad had just pulled an all nighter and then headed for an 8 hour shift, and the pineapple was ok. The over easy eggs were good. They were actually eggy in a good way. You know how sometimes you have an egg and it literally doesn't taste like anything? That was not the case here. The bacon was the best, it was thick-cut yet crispy. And the sourdough was sourdoughing. My partner had the huevos on our first day, he said it was okay. On the second day, I had oatmeal. I don't know why, but when I read the menu, the oatmeal sounded so much exciting. But when I actually got it, it looked kind of boring, just like the one I make at home. It was good and did the work though. My partner had the "today's special," velvet cake toast. He said it was too chocolatey and the portion wasn't that big for the price. I had one bite, and honestly, I was fine with the chocolatey taste. So if you're a chocolate fan, you might want to try it, otherwise skip it. I guess if I had ordered my usual two egg breakfast, it would probably have been great.

Lots of veggies and tofu in a soup type broth with hints of barbecue flavor. Another person ordered the Larb tofu. Similar to a chicken salad only with tofu and rice. The portions were large. This is a family owned and run restaurant definitely worth supporting. You won't be disappointed.

Every floor has a convenience bar outside the elevator refreshed throughout the day with snacks & beverages. The rooms offer spacious bathrooms, large jetted tubs, a fridge and gas fireplace. The location is convenient as it's very close to the ferry (easy walk if you don't bring a car), restaurants and main drag. We are already talking about our next visit

We LOVED the view, but it wasn't exactly bustling and lively on a Saturday at brunch on a sunny day. The price was crazy for what it was.
