Great food. Cute spot. We had sandwiches and loved it. Brought our kids and that was fine in the relaxed space. Also amazing cookie.

Good friends recommended Doe Bay Cafe to us. We ordered take out (beet fritters, a yummy salad, scallops, and dessert). We both LOVE to cook and eat out often. We were VERY impressed at the quality of food that we received! We savored every single bite. Needless to say, we will be heading back to Orcas AND to the Doe Bay Cafe sometime in the near future! We can't WAIT! We normally take photos of food that impresses us. We were too busy, reveling in the tastes, textures, and gloriousness of the dinner to remember to take photos. Until it was too late. Next time!

Beautiful location and space but we didn't have the best meal. Service was weirdly disorganized…read more(there's only 10 tables with 3 front of house staff and a manager, so it was not lack of staff.) There seemed to be confusion on basic things and we saw our meal sit out for a good while before anyone brought it over. The bartender was trying hard and did recommend a terrific wine. Our meal overall was just ok and for the prices and high end focused menu (all $40-$50 entrees- no sandwiches and few apps to share), it felt like they should decide to either step up to run a high price restaurant or make this place more casual and better priced. Our dinner here fell flat and we will likely go into Eastsound for dinner next time.

Their Salish Sea Fog (London Fog) was my favorite, it was fragrant and perfectly sweet. I even got the same tea bag and tried to make it at home. I got the Third Eye Coffee and it has 7 mushrooms and it was quite earthy. The honey lavender had really delicious sweet lavender floral taste. The coffee was great but we came across a not great experience with a lady/customer in line. She told us to wait outside since the owner doesn't like when the coffee shop is packed as it made him nervous. We acknowledged what she said. The tone was rude and stated, "well, aren't you going to go?" But we were holding the door for her to go out first since we have manners. If what she said was true, I think it would be better if the owner had a sign of some sort so folks aren't scolded but this lady. I tried to tell myself she doesn't represent the coffee shop but it did make me just want to leave to another shop. When we walked by the coffee shop throughout the day since we walked around town, there were definitely multiple people waiting inside like we did. Sooo...

Horse Drawn offers an impressive variety of seasonal vegetables as well as meats (frozen) and, when you get lucky, eggs. Everything they sell is absolutely first rate. Much to their credit they work on the honor system. Prices are clearly marked. You take what you want from the display cases or freezers. Weigh your produce on the scale. Record the amounts on the clipboard. Add it up on their calculator. Pay by cash or check. We first encountered them years ago at Lopez Island's Saturday farmers market. Since then whenever we're on the island we frequent their farm stand. When you consider that they plow their fields using non-fossil-fuel-powered farming methods -- teams of actual plow horses, as their name suggests -- you feel genuinely happy purchasing and consuming their food. They're part of what makes Lopez Island a wonderful place to visit.
